  After you use all 3 methods to solve the malfunction of the system, I am sorry to say that none worked.

  Method 1 makes no difference once the antivirus went.

  Method 2 has found no breach of integrity or something similar and rolling back to a previous restore point did not help also.

  Method 3 turned the system in a very unstable state, and at the end, I was forced to do a full backup of my data and restore the computer to the BONES of the original factory configuration.

  If you have a problem only in the Office Update installation, then I suggest you to report your problem in the Office Discussion groups. If not, try download office update from the link below and install it in clean boot mode.

  I had installed up-to-date antivirus software and my problem seems to start after an update from Microsoft. Do a search on the web and you will see similar stories. I spent so much time trying to solve this I think it's better just to do a re-install.
