When I got home and tried to install it again, it's the same thing. Then I tried to install another game that I have (Zoo Tycoon - Zookeeper edition) just to see if any game would work... It's the same thing; before he actually started to install an error message came. The first error message said something to have an invalid character in some way... ? ! (no idea...) Then an other error message pops up something else I didn't really...
  So, as you can see, there must be something wrong with my laptop. PLEASE HELP SOMEONE. I would appreciate advice...!

  1. open the content inside the game CD/DVD.
  2. right-click on the configuration file.
  3. Select 'Run as administrator'.

• Dell studio 17 with Vista Home premium 32. aged 22 months cannot start up.

  I complete the sign in process, but after a while, the screen is blank. I started in safe mode, but the same problem occurs. I tried the system restore, but the message it says its already running. The process is cyclicle. I ran the diagnostics, but there are no reported errors or problems. I tried to do a restore system from the CD, but it does not load. Help!

• Laptop Dell Studio 1555 w / Vista does not wake from sleep when the lid is open.

  I have a laptop Dell Studio 1555 with Vista Premium 64-bit. Until last night, the laptop would run mode standby when I closed the lid and woke up when I opened the cover later. Yesterday I was downloading photos from a Canon camera via USB. I close the lid when I did. When I went to open the cover later the laptop screen remained in black and white. The power button is lit, but the only way I can get to meet is to hold the power button until it turns off completely, and then restart the laptop. A difference when the lid is closed, I think the power button will blink and turn off slowly while he was really in sleep. He remains on all the time now when the lid is closed. I tried to go into power management and put the laptop from sliding when the lid is closed, but has not made a difference.

  Thanks a lot for the guide. Finally, I've identified the problem via the boot as in the NVIDIA driver.  I've now updated that and everything seems to work fine - touch wood!

When I hooked the HDMI first, I found a realtek window asking me to activate the sound via hdmi. I find it anymore this window. I can't get the sound to work at all now.  I even tried to use 3.5 mm with hdmi and got nothing. 3.5 worked when I plugged in the vga to tv cable, but the picture quality was awful. How will I know if my card grphx carries sound?

• Unable to connect to a wireless network with Dell Inspiron 1525 with Vista

  I set up a wireless about a week ago and have done with the following security features: WEP, activate only certain MAC address to connect and disabled to broadcast the SSID.  I was able to use it very well with my Mac computer using the airport, but when I tried to connect my roommates, a dell inspiron 1525 with vista computer, it can not connect.  I can locate the network but when I try to connect to the network, I get a message saying that for a Windows cannot connect to the network and that the wireless link has failed for unknown reasons.  He then said to contact your administrator, but it's me.  I have a basic knowledge of computers just enough to be dangerous and basically know what I'm going along.  If anyone has any advice for me, my roommate and I'll be very grateful.

  I hear that there is a free update to windows 10. I went to the microsoft site and read through the info and it sounded to me like I can't go from vista to 10. I've been inst I could go to 7 for the upgrade.   Cannot download any modification, with the exception of windows defender updates. download progress meter shows 0% all the time and it cannot install updates. last updates have been made is 12/08. I have auto update turned off and I do it manually updates. I get an Error 8007000 b, but nothing on your microsoft site helps me with this error message. I use this SUITE for anti-virus, spam, spyware protection and there a fire wall which I tried to turn it off, but it does not matter still can not download updates.   Here is some information that should help you with this error.

  If you receive the 8007000 b error when you try to install Windows Vista updates, the Windows file system transaction log is damaged. The transaction log is used by the Windows file system to recover when a file error occurs. To correct this error of update, you clear the log. Here's how:

  To clear the file system transaction log

  1. Click the Start button. In the Search box, type command prompt, and then, in the list of results, right-click command promptand then click run as administrator. 2. In the command prompt window, type fsutil resource setautoreset true C:\. (This assumes that C: is the drive on which Windows Vista is installed. If Windows is installed on another drive, change the drive accordingly letter.) 3. Restart your computer. 4. Download and install the update again.

  If the problem persists after you follow the steps above, go to the Center of Support Windows Update website to try to find more information about the error code or to request support by e mail.

  Let us know if it helps to address the known issue or if additional assistance is needed.

  I have checked the BIOS and can not see anyway to disable the touchpad from this location. When you use XP, I was able to disable the touchpad easily, but have not been able to do it under Vista. I was on the Dell site to see if it is a question of laptop. I have not received response to date. Please help I don't like the concept of the touchpad. I much prefer a mouse and do not use one. Please help if you know of any way to disable the touchpad. TKS

• Dell XPS 420 with Vista Home Premium, replaced the hard drive, download now blue screen errors

  My girlfriend has a desktop Dell XPS 420 quit working a year or 2 ago. A computer technician told me that it sounded as if the hard drive was bad, recently I purchased from Dell, a Seagate 1 TB hard drive (the original is a Western Digital 320 GB).

  I bought also, once again from Dell, a copy of its installation discs for Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit.

  I installed the new hard drive, correctly, as far as I can tell, but I tried several times over the past days to install Vista and a few times I got errors (BSoD) STOP and a few other times, Windows Installer errors.

  What's wrong?

  I run Dell diagnostics that took almost a whole day, but I don't think anything. I have not partitioned the hard drive, it's like 931 GB.

  I think that may be something related to the RAM, but I'm not sure.
