  I use Windows Vista Home Premium and when I try to use the task manager the following message "taskmgr.exe - bad image, C:\Windows\system32\VDMDBG.dll is not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error.

  When I type Ctrl alt delete to bring up Task Manager, I used to get a screen with a tab for the task and a tab for the process with the familiar red x in the right corner to close it. Last week I didn't notice that running tasks would come to the top and the processes tab and close x were not on the screen.   I checked for viruses with avast free version, but no viruses were found.

  I managed to solve the problem by looking for alternatives. Apparently, the problem was caused by a dat file (C:\windows\system32 folder called FNTCACHE.) (DAT) I deleted and it worked like a magic. Everything was normal again.
  Deleted it and the work of all the graphical interfaces as it should.
