Task Scheduler cannot launch pps

Hello

Since my computer has been updated for W7, Task Scheduler can no longer launch ppsx documents. It opens the document for editing (as a document pptx) instead of the mode of presentation. The problem is new with windows 7, he worked with XP. When I run the document myself, it works as well.

Concerning

Do not directly schedule the PPS file.  Instead, plan the PowerPoint program and tell it to start the PPS file.  Make your task like this:

"c:\program files\microsoft office\office12\POWERPNT.exe" / s "present . ' ation1.pptx '

This scheduled task will launch the file specified in a show (given the S parameter).

    Hi Laura,

Open windows control panel, open administrative tools, and then open Services.  First check both of these services.

Remote procedure (RPC) call  This service should show started and startup type must be automatic.

Windows event log                    This service should show started and startup type must be automatic.

If you need to change the settings of the two services above, right-click on the service and select Properties.  Select Automatic from the drop-down list and click on apply.  Once finished, click on the Start button to see if the service starts successfully.

If you have made changes, see if the disk defragmentation utility will now work.

Let me know if this does not help the issue.

  • Cannot enable Task Scheduler

I have a HP Pavilion MS227 with Windows 7 Home Premium. Try to activate the Task Scheduler, so I can defragment. When I right click on the Task Scheduler in system, starting services appears not highlighted so I can enable it. I ran antivirus and software anti malware programs with no luck. Any suggestions?

    Hello

I suggest you ensure that all your Services have the boot by default settings, but you need another computer running Windows 7 64 bit to export the registry data of.

Another method to do this would be to download the file at the link below (downloads are towards the bottom of the page) and then merge it with your registry as described in the article.  Note:  Generally, it is not a good idea to add registry files downloaded from the internet, but these are good - you can also check the entries that will be merged beforehand uncompressing the file, then open it in Notepad.

    Windows 7 SP1 Services.

    Services of Windows 7.

    When finished, restart the PC.

  • Cannot find a scheduled task in Task Scheduler

I just do a new task using Task Scheduler in Windows 7.
When I did, I searched in the Task Scheduler program and noticed a few things.

First, there is no "Search" feature in the program of Task Scheduler, that's why I can't understand, it should really be a search function.

Secondly, there is no task of 'new' or 'custom' folder, I searched through each of these tasks folders and I can't find my job anywhere.

I want to find it so that I can disable and re-create it for another time, but I can't find the thing.

Can someone help me out here? I got lost. They don't really make this user friendly program.

    Hello

Maybe the task was not successfully created. I suggest you to re-create the task and check.

    Download Process Monitor of

Start the program as an administrator (right click and choose Run as administrator).

Set the filter (gout 4 boxes along the top to the bottom)

    ProcessName Contains svchost.exe Include

and then click Add. Then set a second filter

Event class is system file include

    then click Add then Ok.

Then Options menu - enable Boot Logging will record it at the next startup, until you rerun ProcMon. Try to restart and read the log for file operations failed.

Svchost hosts most of the services, there will be a lot of waste.

After the reboot, tab of the task of Service Manager Appendix a right-click and click go to process. Note the PID. Then add a filter to ProcMon existing filters.

    The nest is to include

    then click Add then Ok.

Which will limit the display to a few services.

Still a lot of waste but. You cannot sort in ProcMon, but you can file - export to Excel, where you can sort by the column of result. If no excel use the menu Filter - Highlite.

    Hi GosuSheep,

Follow the methods and check them off below if it solves the problem.

    Method 1:

Scan the file system (CFS) auditor. This command will launch immediately the Windows File Protection service to scan all protected files and verify their integrity, replace all the files with which it detects a problem.

    Method 2:

Run the disk check in Windows Explorer

    a. double-click my computer and then click on the system drive.

    b. click on properties, then Tools.

    c. sous-verification of errors, click check now. A dialog box that shows the check disk options is displayed.

    d. Click to select the automatically fix file system errors check box and then click Start.

    e. If you receive the following message appears, click schedule disk check:

    f. Windows cannot check the drive while it is in use. You want to schedule the disk check to occur the next time that you restart the computer?

It's curious.  The ST journal file must be in the Windows folder.

I downloaded a copy of the file you need on my SkyDrive (everyone has a SkyDrive for file sharing).

Here is the link to my SkyDrive and you can get the file you need here:

    http://CID-6a7e789cab1d6f39.SkyDrive.live.com/redir.aspx?RESID=6A7E789CAB1D6F39! 311
When you see the files available for download, you will not see the extension of file (.exe, .dll, .cpl, .sys, etc), but when download you them they will have the right extension.

You have to put the downloaded files in the correct folders on your system.

I don't know where to put the file mstask.ini - windows\system32 maybe?  There is no .ini file in the folder inf. so I don't know and you may need to try different places and keep reading...

I don't think I've never reinstalled TS (but other things) so I did all the instructions on how to do it, but if the installation stops and asks you for a file, at this point, leave the installation 'wait' and then search your HARD drive for the file he wants to (be sure to include the search for hidden and system files too) and if/when you find return to the installation of waiting and fill the void or navigate to the folder where the installation file is enough (point installation where the file is, so it can find the file he wants to) and continue up to the next point.  You may need to do it for multiple files until you get all the way through it and you will see that some are just not on your HARD drive and you need to download.  You can't cancel the installation and start over every time - just work through a single file at a time by pointing the installation to the folder where the file he needs.

Maybe later, I reinstall my TS service to practice and be able to understand the files he needs and give some better advice about this.

Comodo may also interfere (I do not use it, but it's possible).  Did you see if your TS will start with disabled Comodo?

You should also consider the malware, then you might want to start with this:

Download, install, update and do a full scan with these free malware detection programs:
    Malwarebytes (MMFA): http://malwarebytes.org/
    SUPERAntiSpyware: (SAS): http://www.superantispyware.com/
They can be uninstalled later if you wish.
  • Tasks scheduled Windows have stopped lsass.exe 0 x 80090016: keyset does not exist

I have 6 different tasks in the Task Scheduler in Windows XP.  Each of them is back with "cannot dΘmarrer". They are all worked fine until I put in the last Microsoft Update (which caused my computer to crash).

When I try to change a scheduled task, I get error 0 x 80090016: keyset does not exist.

My system essentially depends on the Scheduler (he runs a weather station) and so I would appreciate quick help.

I'm afraid that this forum has not been much help.  However, I found a solution to:

    http://www.waztech.com/news/news_detail.asp?ID=61

I performed the procedure as described in the article above. The problem is now resolved and my windows scheduler works again.  This failure was caused by the last Microsoft Update, because it happened immediately after the update.  I wonder if Microsoft will pay attention to this?

  • Can not find the task in the Task Scheduler

I created a fundamental task to connect to an ad - hoc network whenever I boot my laptop with Vista Home Premium 32-bit.  I don't want that to happen and I deleted the network tries to delete the task.  When I open the Task Scheduler, I don't see my task listed.  I made sure 'show hidden tasks '.  I know that the task runs as I continue to receive errors not being to find the ad hoc network.

I created a new task of fundamental task, called 'test' starts just the calc program and it shows in the list of tasks.

    Any help?

As others have found, if you change the name of your computer, scheduled tasks that have been associated with a specific user account (like the logon trigger, such as the credentials for the job and so forth) will no longer appear in the list of scheduled tasks. Scheduled tasks displays the message "an error has occurred for task xxxx. Error message: the specified account name is not valid. "The same thing happens if you delete a user account that is named in a scheduled task.

The reason for the problem is that the computer name part of the account name (for example, "mycomputer\myaccount"), and so if a part of the name is not valid, the associated account is no longer recognized. Unfortunately, given that the scheduled tasks will not display the task entry broken, you cannot fix it directly.

The tasks themselves are defined in XML files in plain text stored in \windows\system32\tasks. The files have the same name as their entries in scheduled tasks.

If a task is not desired, you can simply delete the corresponding file from \windows\system32\tasks.

If you want to restore a task, you must change the computer name and/or account name everywhere wherever he is in the job file. But, you can just edit the file in place to solve the problem. Scheduled task detects that the file has been modified externally and even once will not use or display.

I managed to solve the problem by following these steps:

    1. Move the file to the task entry broken of the \windows\system32\tasks in another case. You want to move it, copy it not - file must be put out \windows\system32\tasks. You can do this by using Windows Explorer or move the command in a command prompt window.
    2. Using Notepad, open the file in its new location. Set the name of the computer or the name of the account as it happens and save the file. Repeat steps 1 and 2 for all other tasks of problem.
    3. Open scheduled tasks, or select the menu Action, refresh. It should be no error message now, given that the task of the problem has been removed.
    4. On the Action menu, use the import command to locate the edited file. This will restore the scheduled task.
    5. Test the restored task by opening and then run. Once everything works, you can remove older versions of the file task as you had moved it. Repeat steps 4 and 5 for any other task edited file.
