    Hello

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

    I understand that explorer.exe increases the size of the memory and the screen freezes. I'll be happy to help you with your query. Let me ask you;

    1. When was the last time it was working fine?
    2. You did it no particular change in the computer before the show?

The issue could be related to any recent change in software or hardware on the computer or any third-party software conflict. In addition, it is recommended that you use unique security software at a time so that he would not come into conflict with other firewalls.

We will follow the methods below and check.

Method 1: Run the troubleshooter of Performance.

To optimize the performance of Windows, try to use the resolution of Performance problems to automatically find and fix problems. The resolution of performance problems check issues that could slow down the performance of your computer, such as how many users is currently connected to the computer and if multiple programs are running at the same time.

Open the performance troubleshooting utility by clicking the Start button , and then click Control Panel. In the search box, type troubleshooting, and then click Troubleshooting. Under system and security, click check for performance issues.

Method 2: Start the computer in safe mode, and then perform the clean boot in order to avoid any conflict of third party software.

Step 1: Start the computer in safe mode.

See: , start your computer in safe mode

Step 2: Perform the clean boot

Put your system to the clean boot state helps determine if third-party applications or startup items are causing the problem. You must follow the steps in the article mentioned below to perform a clean boot.

How to perform a clean boot in Windows

  • Leak memory with Explorer.exe in the videos folder.

Leak memory with Explorer.exe in the folder of videos with thumbnails enabled. Using the resource monitor, I can see that explorer.exe is playback of video files, while the memory gradually increases until it is 99%. No such problem with memory leak when I put the provision 'list' (i.e. without thumbnails). Disabling thumbnails also eliminates the problem of memory leak, but this isn't what I want.  Main videos folder is. MKV files, with the codec video within the container MKV h.264 high profile. I tried to dissociate all media files with Media Player Classic Home Cinema (which I use to watch mkv videos).

More important, this problem seems only appeared after I installed SP1.

    Win7 x 64 Ultimate SP1, C2D E8500 8 GB of RAM, Western Digital 2 to Green Caviar.

More info: I realized that this only happens with the video files that don't have any generated tile. It's like Windows Explorer is reading through the entire video file to generate a thumbnail, but even after awhile that yet, it does not generate a thumbnail.

  • Explorer.exe keeps the name change, deletion etc. of media files.

I do not know in which category falls THIS problem...
Feel free to sort where it belongs to.

The next thing happen very often:

I can't rename a file or folder. It is not the permissions. It's allways explorer.exe locks the file. Logging and turn it on again solve the problem most of the time, so I can remove/rename the file Explorer. In cases where this does not work I opening of session and closing session again, open a cmd.exe shell and remove the file without problem.

The types of files are .wma, .wmv, .mp3, .avi .jpg etc. all types of typical media files + a few others.

If the source of the problem is continuation of behavior:
Vista explorer.exe opens the file for read the news there, like extif of information in files .jpg, like mp3-ID3-tag, etc etc.
Can we prevent the explorer.exe to open these files for playback and the verification of the information? Win XP, one way to solve it (partially) which was to unregister the shmedia.dll, in Vista, it seems to be "" wmploc. "." DLL", but I prefer first an email of confirmation.

It's even worse with .exe files, where allways Vista (and XP) open the file to check for the icon resource, so on slow network, this leads to serious problems.

    Questions are...
    1. How can it be prevented that Vista opens various types of multimedia files to check their content and hang in part to the fact that (rename/delete prevention)?
    2. can it be prevented that Vista opens all .exe files to search for an icon resource, especially on the VPN or ANY network connection? I do almost all my (via VPN) stuff filecopy in a shell because I know that explore crashes after a few seconds due to this behavior.

KB956592 is already installed, it helps a little, but only a little because it isn't the navigation folder that really does hang, it is the action of file - open (especially with the .exe).

Before ask you: I have already change one of the biggest disadvantages of vista (this .reg file should explain itself if easy to do in words) so he checks any way content of the media due to the "automatic file type detection", but it always opens these files when they're accidentally hovering over these files and so crashes on certain files or make the undeletable and unrenameable.

This kind of thing is confirmed by vista resource monitor and pious sysinternals (now wininternals) tools, I see that explorer.exe is the culprit.

Don't worry, I still prefer Vista on XP :), it's just that he needs (such as XP and ALL other OS, no exception of Linux here!) adjustments for ease of use.

  • Run a .exe of the cRIO

Hey, thanks in advance for any help.

We are trying to open a file executable file (for example the Minesweeper) which is located on the computer via the cRIO, however we cannot use the Exec.vi system for that (maybe we use it wrong and can we?) Is there another way to do this? We try to use our robot as a joystick to play games and therefore need send keystrokes to this .exe, that we are trying to open. I can do typing when executing power off the pc, but cannot open the .exe when running through the cRIO.

    Concerning

    Power supply Guy

    Hello

What I would do here, is to have two screws, one on the robot and the other on the computer.  The robot one will send commands to the computer (host) through shared variables, tcp/ip, UDP, or stream network (essentially a method of network communication).  The host that VI will take orders and start the game and actually enter the "keys".

You try to do this without using any code that runs on the computer?  If so, it will be much more difficult.

  • Windows XP I often setup.exe keeping the CPU at 100% for at least a few minutes.

Running Windows XP, I often setup.exe keeping the CPU at 100% for at least a few minutes... this process can be completed or ignored?

"Setup.exe" is a generic term used by many applications.  The short answer is 'yes', it's OK to complete the process, but you really need to know what it is and why it continues to run.

You probably need to download, install, update and run these free malware scanner (not at the same time):
    MalwareBytes AntiMalware
    SUPERAntiSpyware

If that is not fix things, and assuming that this process begins when you start the computer, download, install, and run Autoruns.  When Autoruns has finished scanning, click the 'Connection' tab and look for the line that contains "setup.exe".  You can just uncheck the box on the left, or remove the item, which will prevent the routine of starting when Windows starts.

Preferably, however, you should look at the path containing setup.exe where you should be able to deduce what application is trying to set itself up.  You can then take the appropriate measures, which may be simply delete the folder that contains the file.  Note that if you delete the file, you must ALSO remove the line in Autoruns, otherwise you will get a "file not found" error every time Windows starts.

Looks like your Windows file associations have to dispose. This means that XP doesn't know what to do with files by looking at the file extension (.exe for executables)., .doc for MS documents, etc.

If you don't have it you, something done for you - most likely malware.
