TCP. INVITED_NODES for two databases in an ORACLE_HOME

Hello

I have two databases in an ORACLE_HOME (11.2.0.3) and each database is accessible via the own earpiece.

Is it possible to allow access to each database only from the IP (different IP addresses for db ech) adressess?

The TCP parameter. INVITED_NODES (sqlnet.ora) is for any ORACLE_HOME not for specific db.

Thank you.

Marian

It is not possible, other than to install two databases in two different houses.

As a listener for each database is not necessary at all.

Also using hard IPs in sqlnet is maintenance subject and should be avoided.

    the default behavior for OEM is that it supports a single database for each host
    If you need to support multiple DBs, use Grid Control.

    BTW - OEM is NOT necessary to run or support of Oracle's RDBMS

  • TCP.invited_nodes settings for the entire network

    I have a test 11.2.0.4 DB which will eventually become a production DB. I am applying the MARINE DISA to. One of the parameters is to use either the Oracle connection manager or apply tcp.invited_nodes. I have about 100 computers that will access the DB via their client software. What is the best way to apply control STIG. I can't foresee adding all 100 ip addresses in the sqlnet.ora file. Thank you.

    Emad Al-Mousa wrote:

    Hello

    I don't think that 1000 hostnames in your file sqlnet can be easily. If your objective to protect illegal database access, while they cannot access unless you have the name of user and password to one account in the database.

    But if someone does not have the credentials (for the argument, let's say he stole their) he can get to the database from anywhere if the network routing allows.

    And, uh, the OP said 100 jobs, not 1000.  This fault of typing is an order of magnitude difference.

    I feed the pain of the OP.  I also had to deal with the DISA STIG spotted requirements which, in this case, are very short.  Secruity level network (for example invited_nodes of tns) should really be done by the router/firewall. TCP.invited nodes requires constant manual adjustment.  Suppose we go to the effort of registering manually the IP 100.  (The parameter even that accepts several?) One could assume that those are the addresses of the workstations that receive their address from the DHCP server.  So as soon as the administrator creates the list, it starts wrong as data workstations will receive new addresses.  And they will receive them often.  Also, the same environment that requires this solution requires that all windows machines apply to all windows updates "immediately".  So every Tuesday you get a group of workstations is restarted and quite probably get new IP addresses.

    Not to mention the new machines to come on the line and old machines being purchased - all without notifying the ADMINISTRATOR to update its list.

    To the op.  In the light of what I have described above, if your list of 100 workstations all in the same subnet, your job is actually quite easy.  You just need to crack coding these 100 addresses.  You could do it now.  To avoid the question of maintenance I have indicated above, you want to go ahead and list all * addresses of potential.

  • on the headphones for different databases in the same ORACLE_HOME

    Hello experts, I have a doubt

    I installed 3 different databases on the same server that OS is Suse Enterprise 10. Right now, I'm just a listener who registers all the services. The number of connections is great for two of the three databases, so I don't know what could be the best practices for this environment. I have a question I would like you suggestion for me:

    DB version: 11.1.0.7

    Should I have three listener, one for each database?

    Is advisable to have a single listener for multiple instances on the same server?

    Are there different between have only a single listener for the instance and have a port for listening, for example?

    What about performance?

    You in advance, I hope that you can guide me.

    Best practices is not not to have multiple databases on a server, based on resources.

    Should I have three listener, one for each database?
    N ° it is quite undesirable and requires more administration.

    Is advisable to have a single listener for multiple instances on the same server?
    Yes. Don't forget the listener is only a broker and there is no permanent connection between the client, listener and database.

    Are there different between have only a single listener for the instance and have a port for listening, for example?

    Yes. The latter is a nightmare of administration.

    What about performance?

    Who cares? The only factors are
    Listener.log becomes too large--> put in place the appropriate cleaning procedures
    The semaphore count is exceeded (Unix) or no more threads can be created (Microsoft Windows95), who will give birth to ora-12500.

    A single listener, with the default name for LISTENER, using port 1521 single default, is quite capable of - in fact, WAS DESIGNED FOR - several instances of several versions of several ORACLE_HOMEs service. Having several headphones rarely accomplishes nothing except confusion between the diagnostic process, as your case showed clearly.

    A listener is simply a broker for connection requests. Having a listener for each database on a given server is the equivalent of the telephone company, creating and maintaining a separate table for each telephone number in the system

  • How to connect two databases to a single listener

    Hello

    How to connect two databases to a listener.is it is possible or not

    Hello

    Yes, you can record a single listener to respond to several databases. There are several ways to do it and the best way that I would suggest for you is the use of "Network Setup Wizard" or "netca", which is a graphical interface that allows you to meet your requirement. Otherwise, you can hardcode in your listener.ora file located in the 'ORACLE_HOME/network/admin/listener.ora '.

    Example is as follows

    Listener.ora

    SCREW =
    (DESCRIPTION_LIST =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = lab01) (PORT = 1521))
    )
    )

    SID_LIST_VIS =
    (SID_LIST =
    -1 database configuration
    *(SID_DESC =*)
    * (ORACLE_HOME = /u01/app/oracle/product/11.1.0/db_1)*
    * (SID_NAME = DB1) *.
    *)*
    -Database Setup 2
    *(SID_DESC =*)
    * (ORACLE_HOME = /u01/app/oracle/product/11.1.0/db_1)*
    * (SID_NAME = DB2). *
    *)*
    )

    Then restart your listener.

    It is misleading to the column sequence, sequence of real number is 65 series, but it's beyond. Have you restored any old backup with the incarnation?
    When you perform incremental backups, is the current_scn in the two primaries and Eve was balanced?

    And the sequence number * 29 * is transferred from the primary to the standby (or) he has been removed from the primary?
    Perform the two methods.

    (1) SQL > alter system set log_archive_dest_state_2 = 'reporter ';
    (2) conduct 3-4 log switches
    (3) SQL > alter system set log_archive_dest_state_2 = 'enable '.

    and displays the alert log database and backup files.
    And you mentioned the hostname in the entries of the listener, if this entry is added in/etc/hosts? otherwise you can use the IP address instead of the host name and then reload the listener.

    second method
    (1) copy archives missing from primary sequence of 29
    (2) place manually and then perform a recovery
    or
    (3) retrieve manually

    And update with your conclusions after all these lists.

    Yes, we should do as root. You are a substitute to oracle ' su - oracle ' so no worries.

    Can we consider this question as answered? ;-)

  • TCP.invited_nodes

    I think I already know the answer, but...

    At the request of my manager, I started to play with TCP. INVITED_NODES. What we wanted to know, is if we can specify a range of client ip addresses rather than list each one individually. My first tests indicate 'no '. The documentation never expressly addresses the issue, but how things are worded seem to indicate 'no '.

    But, because "you never know what you don't know"... I thought I'd ask.

    You cannot specify a range, generics, partial IP or subnet mask

    When the user try to open the web page example.web2.com the internet ISA Server MS create translates an internal address 192.168.1.11.

    static (inside, outside) tcp example.web2.com 192.168.1.11 www www netmask 255.255.255.255

    Hello

    To my knowledge, this type of NAT is not possible in the SAA.

    The ASA has nothing to differentiate the 2 translations to eachother other than the order of the NAT configurations. But I think that at the level of your software it doesn't accept even the second NAT configuration that it overlaps with the first. In the most recent software that it would accept the second configuration, but the traffic would still be hit only one of the NAT configurations.

    There must be something on the ISA MS who, in addition to NAT overlapping, knows that static PAT choose based on the requested web page?

  • Can I have load balancing for two ISP (PPPoE and PPPoA) on Cisco 897va connections

    Hello

    I have two ISP connection and I have Cisco router 897va, I want to have the load balancing for two ISP connection second connection is PPPoE connection and second is PPPOA (ATM) connection.

    It is possible to do?

    Thank you in advance.

    You can balance by TCP (the default behavior with CEF enabled) stream.  Alias a user turns off a pipe and the next user goes off the next pipe.

    Make sure that you use the nat with route map that matchers the output interface, then you just need two routes of equal cost default (a leaver each circuit).

  • One or two database is necessary, if I have two FxM?

    My current FxM has prob and portal together.

    I intend to have two FxM, which means two probes.

    Should I two portal on each server, or a Portal Server who sit together with a probe?

    If you need a Portal Server, should I two database or a database to store parameters of monitor?

    In a situation where you have more than one collector/probe, it is advisable to have a portal that consolidated reports for Foglight.  The portal also provides a single interface for configuration.  This is particularly important if you have the same application or a site monitored by the collector/probes.

  • Copy of the object between two databases

    Hi, in SQLDeveloper I can copy the objects 'tools-> copy of database... "between two databases such as (tables, views, indexes, triggers, constraints, etc, etc...), but how can I do it with SYNONYMS and GRANT of the object? Thanks for your help.

    You can watch the cart (view > trolley).

    The cart can generate a script to include SUBSIDIES, and you must add synonyms. You can then run these scripts in your target database.

    Drag the table to your shopping cart. Add synonyms.

    Export your basket. Select "grants."

    Decide if you want the data or not.
