Technical support Windows SCREWS

I don't know if this is the right forum, but I just got a phone call that is supposed to be a support tech windows contractor called screw phone # 888-8857-7942 in New York, NY. The tech told me that I had some warnings that needed to be cleared up and asked me to go to my counter top. He told me to hit the button windows simultaneously with the R button. This introduces a window on my desktop that he wanted me to enter a few letters in and then run the program.

At this point, I became suspicious and hung to the top.

How will I know if there is really any warnings on my computer from Microsoft Word? -

Hello:

I would like to report the scam to Microsoft since it is their product.

Maybe they can contact the police or FBI and understand the calling.

No Microsoft will never call you 'out of the blue", with all the warnings about one of their products.

You have made the right choice.

Yes! They are * not * windows technical support. It's a scam and with all the names and phone numbers, one that has become very common these days. See http://www.troyhunt.com/2012/08/virus-scams-social-engineering-victims.html

In addition to their money get on your part to do anything of any value, if you let them into your computer, who knows what damage they did here or what confidential information they stole.

So if you have done so, I highly recommend that you do both of the following immediately:

1 do a clean reinstall of Windows.

    2. change all of your passwords, especially banks or other
    financial sites.

I just got a phone call from the Windows support. Lady asked me to press windows and r. subsequently a screen with warnings appeared. Unable to get a direct response of the Lady on what was going on, so cancelled phone call. Worries me now that I opened my computer up to pirates. Any advice would be very welcome.

    NO, it's a call of 'SPAM '.

Ignore them, hang up, don't give them any details and do not allow access to your PC.

    See - https://www.microsoft.com/security/online-privacy/avoid-phone-scams.aspx

If you have entered a few commands that she gave you, then you are likely to be OK according to what were the controls. Often they are simply watching the event logs or information UUID. If only awaits you and you gave no specific details of return, then you're OK.

But if they have installed anything, or if you allow them access, or gave them no information, so you can be compromised. At the very least "What to do if you have already given information to a tech support person", see in particular:

    • Change password of your computer, change the password on your main email account and the password for all the accounts financiers, especially your credit cards and credit.

    • Scan your computer with the Microsoft Security Scanner to find out if you have malicious software installed on your computer.

  • I received a phone call from someone who said they were the Windows technical support. I did not understand the person that he was a stranger

The person calling said he could give me a technical support for problems that they had detected with my computer, but he seemed surprised when I said that I had problems with my computer.  I did not understand a lot of what he was saying because of his foreign accent.  Can someone tell me what it is?  I don't think that I may have a virus, but Windows actually call for help?

You were lucky that you could not understand him and so do not buy what he was selling.  It was a scam.  Microsoft does not make unsolicited phone calls.

Insofar as thought, you could have a virus...

    • What version of Windows (XP Home, XP Pro, Vista, etc) and Service Pack (none, 1, 2, 3) is installed? If you are unsure, do a click right my computer and select properties for information.
    • What is the name and version of your anti-virus program?  Is his current subscription and has it always been updated?
    • What other security software is installed (names and versions)?
    • What are the symptoms?  That's what are you see you do not, you should see or what is you don't see don't you think you should?  Please report the full text of the error message without paraphrase.
    • What happened to your computer shortly before the symptoms started?  Power outage (including pulling them out the plug or by pressing the off button); use of a registry cleaner, optimizer, tuner, etc. ; installation of an update (only one?). Another thing that you can identify.
  • Windows XP, computer crash, said to contact technical support, "load needed DLLs for kernel."

What should I do now that my computer does not start? I tried F8, F10 and reboot... message came on the black screen "please contact the technical support and say" load needed DLLs for kernel. " "I do not have the Windows XP OEM or recover the disk.".

You will probably need ot to obtain from the manufacturer of the computer for the installation diskettes (which would be less expensive to get a new XP license) and the repair of the operating system or do a new install. Keep in mind that this could have been caused by your failure to drive hard and not because of software corruption.

  • Impossible to download recovery Image Windows - Technical Support will not help

    Hi all

All I'm doing is to download the recovery Image for my XPS8700 Windows from the support.dell.com site. I select the image, enter my serial number and the verification code and the following error: "stock recovery image. The recovery image download could not be generated due to missing information. Please contact the technical support for assistance. »

I contacted technical support so did what the error message said. However, as my system is more under warranty, they refused to help me. Apparently, it's okay that I'm not asking for help with the system, just to help get the file from their broken site as indicated by the message error-_ -.

Anyone know how to recover the file by other means?

No need to bother with the .iso Windows 8.1 from Dell. Download the file .iso Windows Microsoft RS1 10 image instead. It will automatically collect your keys to your UEFI BIOS OEM and it input during the installation. See here for more details:

  • My laptop cannot detect wireless networks after using the Windows Update service. Technical support, very desperate need.

I tried the direct technical support, but it seemed to have cut. Given that I can no longer connect to the internet on my laptop, I'm with my playstation browser and painfully by typing with the controller.

    My probllem.
I have an ASUS Intel Core i3 - 2350M CPU @ 2.30 GHZ running Windows 7 home premium. I've selected "Windows Update" in the start menu and proceeded to download and install all updates. Once the updates have been installed, my laptop couldn't detect wireless networks which means that I can't connect to my router and have lost the internet.
Device Manager indicates 802.11n Wireless LAN Card is working properly.
Windows did create a restore point before installing the updates, but everytime I try a restore I get the following message
"System Restore has failed. Your computer's system files and settings were not changed

System Restore could not access a file. This is probably because an antivirus program is running on the computer. Temporarily disable your antivirus program and restart System Restore.

Well when the restore point was present he says that these things will be deleted that's where I got the list, but as I said the restoration failed and disappeared.
I have reset my router but my laptop doesn't detect a network and there are usually 10 in the region and it shows nothing. My router is fine, as I use it now with my playstation.
Please I really need help, how do I get my laptop to detect the wireless network. If someone could give me a few steps to do, please.

Most laptops have a switch that turns the wifi radio on or off.  Often, it is a combination of the Fn key and one of the F keys.  It may be a physical switch somewhere on the laptop.  See your manual for details.

    If this isn't the problem...

What is the brand and model of your router?  Almost all wifi routers also have at least one Ethernet port, you can connect your computer to the router with an Ethernet cable and download the right driver for your http://www.asus.com/support wireless card
Have you tried to "Roll back driver" in the "Driver" tab of your adapter wifi 'properties' in Device Manager?  At the very least, determine which version of the driver is installed, and compare that to the current version on the asus support site.

  • I got Windows 7 activated, but I did a restore it cancelled. Can what number I call for technical support?

I called a number of technical support for Microsoft and they transferred me to a specialist for the Activation Center, and she got my active product.  A few days later, I noticed something that I had downloaded had a few additional programs with it.  From my experience, until it became a problem, I tend to put the computer in a day or two to back it up on the problem.  When I did it this time, I was sure that the restoration would not affect the activation, but he did.  Now I have seven days left... can someone please give me a number to get my reactive product?
