• Tecra 9000 - LED flashes and cannot start

  I recently got an old laptop Tecra 9000. Unfortunately, it doesn't have a HARD drive (it was taken and sacked by the former owner).

  I bought some hard drives that I thought should work in this machine, but all that seems to happen is that the power light blinks 7 times, pauses, then flashes once (and then repeat this.

  I guess it's an error code any.

  Readers, I've tried are a MK4025GAS and a MK4026GAX. The result is the same on both.

  Can we say what means this error, or even tell me the part number of a disk that is compatible with this machine?

  One question; have you tried to power the laptop without inserting the HARD drive?
  Usually if the laptop is ok, it should be possible to boot the laptop. Of course the laptop will not load the Windows operating system because the HARD drive is missing but it should be able to start and the led must Flash not!

  But if it flashes, it means that the fault was detected on the motherboard and the LED lamp sends a blink code.
  Short blinking means 0 and 1 long flashing
  Error code starts with LSB (least significant bit)
  for example:
  0000 0001-> 1000 0000

  This code you need to turn it into hex and you will get the error code.
  But in my opinion, no one will give you an answer what it means.

  I understand that when you connect the AC adapter of the power port light flashes continuously. If you turn off the laptop light continues to Flash for a while and then turns off.

  Your laptop is not unload.

  Do a hard reset.
  
  Turn off the computer.
  
  Remove the power cable and battery.
  
  Hold down the power button for 15 sec while booth energy sources are deleted.
  
  
  
  This should reset the hardware in the computer.

  That you put it on press the F10 key. This will load the BIOS setup utility.
  
  Press F9 to load the default values.
  
  Press F10 to save and exit.
  
  
  
  When the computer starts up, check if everything is working.

  To be honest, it looks like a malfunction of the power supply motherboard maybe electronic issue of power.
  the power indicator would start flashing amber if the AC adapter voltage is abnormal or failure of computer power supply.

  If electronic power supply detects that some portable problem send a blink code. This code allows you to identify the problem. I can't tell you much these codes, but what I know for sure, is that you need professional help.

  The Tecra 8100 doesn t supports no internal memory. Two memory slots are available, and it depends on the unit memory has been installed.
  Always is it that you can improve it to max 512 MB (2 x 256 MB)

  About your problem, I can t give an exact answer, but a Council: contact an authorized service provider. I think that in this case you need 100% sure answer and you can get it from professional people only because it s a user to user forum where you can talk with normal people like you and me.

  Then get in touch with the guys, they will help you and if you are not familiar with laptop disassembly, they can help you to swap the motherboard.

• Tecra 8100 white plus-ecran only starts

  I have a Tecra 8100 (disc hard 12 GB 700 MHz, 256 MB of memory) running Windows XP and Win 98 dual-boot. It was OK for ages but suddenly developed the following fault.
