Satellite U940 - 11 c: East 1650 * 1050 resolution external HDMI possible?

I am considering buying a U940 - 11 c and want to hook it up to a monitor 22 '' inches with resolution 1650 * 1050.
Is - this external resolution (and others) supported?

The specification States only the support of 1080 p signal.

I use an external monitor 23 with a 1920 x 1080 max resolution, which is connected to HDMI output port.
Since 1650 x 1050 is less than 1920 x 1080, I think that it must also benefit.

You should know that the external resolution depends on external monitor and a graphics card.
Both must support the preferred resolution.
As far as I know the nVidia GPU, which is built in this notebook takes care of max 1920 x 1080 (full HD)

    I can't get the resolution to 1680 x 1050. The higher resolution options only available are 1280 x 1024, 1600 x 1200.
Graphics card is a X 1600. The most recent driver is version 9.7. Version on my machine is 8,292.

I tried to upgrade, but it seems that my machine will not support the latest version of the driver.
I can't believe that Toshiba will not the newer drivers support.
I'm doing something wrong. Is it possible to upgrade to 9.7.

Not good for Toshiba if they do not support the latest drivers

    > I can't get 1680 x 1050 resolution. The higher resolution options only available are 1280 x 1024, 1600 x 1200. Graphics card is a X 1600. The most recent driver is version 9.7. Version on my machine is 8,292.
I guess you want to change the resolution on the external monitor. Is this good?
First of all, you should consult your user manual what resolutions are supported by the graphics card. If this resolution is not listed there, you would not be able to choose this resolution, even the graphics card driver would support such a resolution.

    > I tried to upgrade, but it seems that my machine will not support the latest version of the driver.
If the graphics card driver has not been certified by Toshiba, then you would not be able to install it using the common installation procedure (run setup.exe)
But you could install the driver in Device Manager. There, you have to mark the graphic card and having to use advanced installation allowing to point to the new driver, stored files on the HARD drive.

  • Satellite U940 Windows 10 update, very slow start to the top

    Hello

It looks after upgrade to win10, the SSD is not used to quickly boot up the laptop.
How can this problem be solved?

In tools, defragment disc, it shows all of my partitions as SSD drive so I can't defragment.
Why are they displayed as SSD? I think that the basic motivation is a 500 gb HHD and only a 32 GB SSD is included.

Also in the management of the computer disk SSD drive shows only 11.22 GB of capacity and is not used (all 11.22 GB free)

Help, please. I want to get the quick start of the win8.1 and at the same time be able to defragment my HARD drive.

    Hello

Same problem here with a weak start after the upgrade to Windows 10 (with a Satellite U940-11 t).
If anyone has the solution, it could be great :-)

  • Windows 10 not supported for Satellite U940

I have a U940 satellite. I've had it for over 3 years and I like it.
Last weekend I went to the update free for WIndows 10 and updated level to her with my Windows 8.1.

It works, but now I've discovered (maybe I should have read) that the Satellite U940 is NOT a device supported for Windows 10.

    Why is this?

I plan to go back to 8.1, but for now the 10 Windows works for me.

What will that mean for me long term and which leave people?

    Thank you very much!

As you probably know that it is not possible to provide full support for all models of laptops. On some point of Toshiba, and other manufacturers must create a furrow, and decide which models will be more sustained.

  • Satellite U940-11 t - don't light - white LED (not flashing)

    Hi guys,.

Yesterday, I opened my computer (Toshiba Satellite U940-11 t) to check the fan and clean.
Today when I try to turn on my computer, it works as expected.

Firstly, the launch of motherboard fan then stop.
Second, the prior LED (power & CPU) are white, without blinking.
My computer seems to be turned on but screen doest work... I can hear the fan going slowly...

I tried to turn it off, remove the battery in and out of the charger, then hold the power button / stop 30 seconds then turn it back on but I does not work...

I'm going crazy, I was so proud to do it quickly and on common sense... but locomotives mistaken.

    What can I do?
That doesn't mean this white two LEDS no flicker?

I guess that the motherboard or a part of the motherboard (electronic power supply, CPU, etc.) likely to be affected...
Sorry, but that's all I could say on this issue.

    Hello

I am DJ & artist and recently bought a toshiba for sets dj ultrabook parade and live sets with traktor pro.
I also do computer repairs so I know my way around the pc...

Now, at the beginning I had an occasional stuttering or interruption, which I blamed on the system settings, so I made a few tweaks here and there, disabled some stuf, uninstalled some bloatware...
    Everything seemed ok.

But my last show was a nightmare, suddenly all hell broke loose! Stutters major interruptions and I had to put in a cd backup which is pretty stupid when live...

Now, before everyone says its software trakor or a material that is causing the problem... No, this is not!

You mentioned the Wdf01000.sys (Kernel Mode Driver Framework) files in your message.
As much as I know, that it is a hardware driver internal Microsoft which is placed in
    C: the folder \Windows \System32 \drivers.
The driver gives you access to the computer or ancillary equipment.

The reason why this file appear as a troublemaker can be connected to external devices connected to the USB ports as external mouse or other device.

To be honest, I wouldn't recommend disable or delete this file because it s a clean Windows driver and may be important to keep the system working properly.

In your case I recommend you check the connected 3rd party devices and also to test the combination of Traktor and Sat with connected U940 adapter mains or battery only. Also test it with WLAN enabled.

Your comments and good luck would be appreciated

  • error 'iaStorA.sys' on the Satellite U940-108

    Hello

I have a portable Satellite U940-108. I had to replace the hard drive failure.
After retrieving the backup of the following Win 8.1, start the laptop the error message system: System Thread Exception unhandled (iaStorA.sys).

This error also occurs if Win 8.1 is installed with an installation CD, and then the drivers are loaded.
I have updated the drivers to the latest version.

    I beg your help.
    A welcome message.
    Jordi Miralles.

After the HARD disk has been removed and replaced the RAID configuration is lost and must be rebuilt.
I don t know exactly the procedure, but in order to use the RAID feature that is controlled by the Intel Rapid Storage Technology, the RAID must be to rebuild and this can be done by the service provider accredited with special tools and method.

After that, I guess that this error will go away.

  • Satellite U940-103 with Linux - Touchpad does not & poorly programmed FN keys

    Hello

I bought a toshiba Satellite U940-103, and I installed ubuntu 13,10 dual boot with windows 8.1.

The problem is that the touchpad is not working and the fn are false (fn f2 key suspend the computer instead of the brightness control).

I tried to install linux different sistem (Mint cinnamon 15, 13.04 ubuntu, ubuntu 12.04.3) but they still have the same problem, even in the live cd.

I tried to ask the Italian Forum of ubuntu, but they have solutions do not work...

    Thanks for the help

    * PS.* sorry for my bad English. Is it normal that my laptop seems overheated and my battery life seems to be reduced when I use Linux?

    Hello

    Yes, you're right!
In the direct (stable mode without having to install), the touchpad does not work.

However, once installed, it will work.

In regards to shortcut keys, yes they are mapped correctly.
They are treated to the old-fashioned way (former Toshiba models had the mapping used by Linux on this model).
If you want help, file a bug report on bugs to Ubuntu system.

You can always change the brightness by using the GUI (Control Panel > brightness & Lock).

Fun with Ubuntu on your device!

  • Ubuntu on Toshiba Satellite U940 - startup of: SSD

    Hi guys,.

I think buy Toshiba Satellite U940. The reason is that he a dimmable-up ultrabook so I'll buy 16 GB of ram and a 120 GB of msata SSD. I'm going to install ubuntu. But because I'm not sure that two important things, I would ask you first.

    1. can you the msata SSD was seen directly from the bios? I want to install ubuntu on it and also to have my case start and all programs there. I ask this question because I read somewhere msata SSD it is only for the purpose of the cache and cannot be seen directly because it is in RAID mode. So can we get around this thing from the bios? I just only to manipulate the msata SSD as a disk driver normal in my bones. It is this possible?

2 are all drivers for Toshiba Satellite available for ubuntu linux U940?

Thank you guys for your time.
    Harry

    Hi Harry

Good to hear about your projects!

I can't answer your question exactly since I don't have the necessary information to do so.
However, I can tell you some things that can help!

The RAID configuration is purely software-rendering. So it can be removed from f.ex Ubuntu disk-tool.
I installed Fedora on the U840 and U940 that have the same RAID on an internal SSD flash drive and internal HARD drive.

The RAID can easily be removed and that make storage devices appears as installation targets unique (e.g. SDA and SDB).

However, I can't tell you if any data 3' rd party SSD will work in the U940.

My Setup was when I used the 32 GB SSD as a target for the OS - which is actually a LOT of space for an OS Lnux.
The internal HARD disk has been mounted as HOME.
In this way, I had the speed of the SSD for all operations of the system (boot, updates...) while having massive storage HARD drive for personal data.

Regarding the drivers, I think in addition to the basic features should work (WiFi, screen, sound, etc).
In my tests, I noticed (but is no intensive testing is) no problem don't except the backlight on the keypad was not working on older kernels.

  • Satellite U940 - download Health Monitor

Recently, I managed to updated the integrity monitor (which paradoxically the Heath monitor recommended).

An error indicated there was "an older version installed", and I was advised to remove it all first. I did, doesn't have any path to be automatically informed of pilot and other improvements, including the health monitor.

It seems that the health monitor has not saved the download file - it is not in the downloads. He recorded other places? He did not me, invites so the location is hardcoded, wherever she is.

I only do that because a previous update of the bluff Health Monitor driver my touchpad driver.

OK... you'd think I'd be able to download the new drivers manually, right? Alas not. My part number doesn't seem to be acceptable for the selector of downloads on the selector to THE Toshiba window, and even there is no model of U above U500 in the drop-down list of templates.

    So much trouble here!

Can anyone suggest how I might have the correct setup file of Health Monitor for my Satellite U940?

    Thank you

    Hello

Can you please post full model name and the part number of your laptop?
I want to just check the Toshiba download page and try to find the right version to download.

  • Satellite U940 - after the update of Win8.1 FN key stop working

I have ultrabook Toshiba U940-b484, after I updated my system windows 8.1 all FN keys does not work and after more try only up/down switch soung and brightness keys is just the word, and keyboard light switch is not working too, all solutions?

    Concerning

I by Satellite U940-103 and I did Win8.1 with success. Everything works perfectly.
My only solution is: Win8.1 update must be performed according to the instructions of update Toshiba Win8.1 instructions for installation and http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/generic/windows8_1-upgrade-stepbystep/ document which can be downloaded on Toshiba support and download page.

Have you installed all the specific tools available Toshiba and utilities?

  • A few questions after the downgrade of Win 7 on Satellite U940 - 11L

    Hello

friend of mine bought the Toshiba Satellite U940 - 11L which had Windows 8 on it, due to some reasons that she wanted to have Windows 7 installed on it, which was pretty easy.

Trouble came with the installation of the Symantec touchpad, after installing the drivers, it worked for about 10-15 minutes but then it stopped working.

Tried to uninstall and install again but no luck, found a few discussions where it was suggested to remove all the devices, remove the battery and the power cord.

Press the power button for 15 seconds and then power back on but still not lucky (I wasn't in the restoration of the default settings of the Bios I did not any change it outside disabling secure boot and replacing UEFI CSM that was needed to run win 7 on it).

Tried about 4 different sources when it comes to the drivers but still does not work. I checked the Device Manager Dev but see no conflict, and it shows that the unit works fine but the problem persists. Please note that the drivers were specific to windows 7.

Please if you have any suggestions we would greatly appriciate it.

On another note, I'm not able to install the bluetooth it (HW ID shows as ACPI\TOS6205), I tried to install it several times but no luck because it always shows as unknown device in the dev Manager. The driver that I use is Bluetooth Filter Driver Package as info.

Also, the computer is slower than it was with Windows 8, I suspect the reason for this is the fact that the installation of win 7 I accidentally erased part of the hybrid drive SSD (the size was 11.2 GB if I remember correctly, yes silly me...). I wasn't looking for a while on the net to see if there is a way to fix it but no luck so far.

Thank you very much for your time and your suggestions!

    Tony

With regard to the question of the touchpad.
To my knowledge, the touchpad should work even if the Synaptics touchpad driver has not been installed. Windows system contains own driver that control the touchpad and provide standard settings. Of course after installing the Synapatics driver, you should get a few more options and features more touchpad.

I recommend you to download the driver for the touchpad from Synaptics driver page and install it again: http://www.synaptics.com/resources/drivers

With regard to the problem of BT.
The laptop supports WLan Intel (Intel Wireless-N 2230) card that supports BT connectivity. Bt driver filter pack is ONLY necessary if you laptop would use an Atheros WLan card or Realtek WLan card. For the Intel WLan modules such package of filter is NOT necessary. To get BT to work, you must install the battery Toshiba BT!

  • Satellite U940 - Random BSOD after replacing HARD drive

    Good day ladies and gentlemen!

I was wondering if I can win some lights here - as I google myself in a bunch of flange on the issue, I have!

I am a famous computer technician (modest too) and more recently, a client of mine introduced me to a ultrabook Satellite U940 - lovingly with the SSD / HDD Raid 0 configuration running our beloved Windows 8.

All things according to their entire course - Hitachi hard drive failed (as google tells me is to be expected).

So, I replace the hard drive by a great little number Western Digital, cloned from Hitachi, sector by sector, and after a significant cajoling with bcdedit and bootrec amount, I could so he could begin our good liked Windows 8.

However, since then, I have random BSOD, cold boots failed and all sorts of errors.

I ran all the regular patches - SFC/scannow, chkdsk/r, Windows 8 repair facilities, etc., but it is still volatile jolly.

Things seem not to be as they were with this Satellite little ol '-before any repair, the peripheral device manager showed two "RAID 0' in the category of hard drives, and since then it shows the individual SSD and the WD HARD drive."

I've updated the driver for the Intel Rapid Storage at latest on the Toshiba site, but nothing helps - alas!
The weird part is that if I do a reboot on this little beauty, she starts without any problems, but a start cold after a power off is a completely different question - dummy - spit crashing, dumping, in general!

If there is a troubleshooting there champion who can destroy my help in this situation, I'd be very impressed and never have if they could provide assistance in this regard.

Unfortunately Microsoft - are we are all end by using these products of ever-so-pretty Appl?

    Hello

I read in some discussions here in this forum only after replacing the disk SSD or HARD drive, the RAID configuration is lost and must be rebuilt on a device Windows 8.

But this can be done very easily, and this can be corrected by an authorized Toshiba because this procedure requires special tools and utilities.

Unfortunately, it seems to me that you will need to contact the ASP in your country to get this problem resolved :(

  • Dismantling satellite U940

    Hi guys,.

    Anyone disassemble by Satellite U940?

I have problems with noise from the cooling fan, so I need to open and clean it.

I tried to do, but I was not able to reach the fan because I'm not that expert and I didn't break anything.

Is there anyone who has done so he can me adivce?

    >... since I'm not an expert it and I didn't break anything.
The reason why you should not do anything. Small mistake and you can damage something. There are many smallholders plastic that can be broken.

Disassembly of the laptop will be by authorized personal order only and following maintenance manuals.

Have you tried to reduce cooling fan activity change the parameters for the method of cooling? You can find advanced power options n.
