Tecra 9000 USB port failure

Hello Helpers,
My Tecra 9000 IGH with Windows XP model has two usb ports dead and taken from mouse. From what I've read, it's a defect with this model. The USB ports are on a separate module that is plugged into the main Board.

Is the fault on the set of the USB module or on the main Board or the fault lies in the power plug. Is the fault of the joints for example dry easily repairable, where a quick touch of a soldering iron can redo them. Does anyone have a circuit diagram which would make tracing easier fault.

I had partially circumvents the problem by using a USB card, but this often causes freezing the computer and my laptop hard drive will not work with it.

Any help appreciated.
Linlithgow your sunny.
Derek

Hello Derek

On this path, it is not easy to say what the problem is here, but I guess there is a contact problem. It is really not easy to say it's the problem motherboard or separate module itself. I think that it should be checked on professional way.

The second problem is the scheme of construction. As far as I know that is not a public document and you'll be lucky if anyone has it for you. I know that you will not be satisfied by my suggestion, but I think the best way is to communicate with the technicians and talk with them. Maybe there really small problem and can be cheaply repaired.

Good luck!

Use the computer laptop all that evening, the next day it would not start, just got a whole screen, that came out and it turns off, back on, power lights all came, but just a blank screen. I noticed that the area round the s defective USB was really hot in a few minutes.

According to me, the failure of USB caused a significant fault, motherboard maybe.

    Hello

His pity to hear that your laptop has started to malfunction, but a hardware malfunction can always happen. Generally, you should contact the ASP (certified partner) in your country for assistance.

I put t know where you are but I found this page from Toshiba Europe ASP database:
http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com-> support download &-> find an authorized service provider

    Regarding your question.
In most cases, the higher internal temperature might be the reason for this closure downs.
Portable media some sensors that would power the laptop off to prevent material damage the temperature can increase because the cooling modules are blocked because of the dust and debris also use of non-Toshiba graphics card driver can cause problems of graphics so it s always advisable to use the graphics drivers from Toshiba.

In any case it seems that your laptop needs expert help then get in touch with ASP in your country and ask for more details.

  • Tecra S1: USB Ports do not work correctly

That one of my USB ports work correctly - that next to the DVD player. The two rear appear to be defective. Sometimes, they will work, but usually isn't. I have a Microsoft Notebook Optical Mouse and when I plug it into one of the ports back, it lights or control the cursor in Windows XP or Linux, but it does not work in the port on the side.

I tried it with different settings of the BIOS for example disabling USB legacy mouse, KB and floppy and COM and parallel ports, but it did not help.

There must be some kind of life in the faulty ports, because when I plug the mouse in all running Linux (I don't know where to look for the error logs in Windows), I get a series of error messages like this:

    Hello

Try to remove all the USB ports on the Device Manager, and then restart the device. Check again the ports with different USB devices. If the result is the same, it must be a hardware malfunction. Maybe the contacts!

I'm afraid that the appliance must be sent to the service. :(

  • Second Bank of RAM Tecra 9000 has a failure

About two days ago a RAM Bank broke out.
If I put the RAM in the FIRST Bank that works, but if I put the RAM in the second Bank - laptop won't start.
I have 256 MB (2 x 128) and winxp little worked slowly... but it worked... now... with 128 MB system starts at 3 minutes... and windows runs VERY very VERY slowly...

How do you think... If I change the smaller motherboard (part with CPU / graphics card / RAM Bank) it can be running? Will this work?

    THX for the help!
    Chris

    Hello Chris

I put t see alternative to use more RAM in the first place. Otherwise, you must exchange the main card to use the two memory slots. If I were you, I would buy a module of compatible RAM (PC133 512 MB-PA3108U - 1 M 51, or PC133 256 MB-PA3086U - 1. 25 M) and unit will go much quicker. You can find these modules on eBay as used one and it will cost you probably not much.

    Main card is expensive.

  • USB ports all failure Tecra S1

    Hello

my old Tecra S1 video card died last week and I managed to find an another identical Tecra S1 very cheap.
I swapped my portable hard drive in the new computer and everything works fine apart from any of the USB ports work.
Food sent to external drives USB but my computer does not recognize one of the 3 USB ports at all.

I tried to remove / replace the drivers but no change.
Also as I had my same old laptop for spare parts I have even replaced the USB turntable (as one of the original USB ports has been damaged) but still no change.

Could this be something to do with the version of the BIOS on the laptop as surely everything else should be already on my hard drive?
Maybe my old laptop had an older BIOS which might make a difference?

any help would be gratefully receieved as I looked the net but don't have anywhere!

    Thank you very much
    Ian

    Hello

First of all, you aren't sure if the USB port hardware is ok for this second Tecra S1. Right?
So, theoretically, it might be a hardware and software problem.

Generally, the USB ports are controlled by the chipset driver.
You replaced the HARD disk where the operating system is already installed
I think you should try to install the operating system once more on this second Tecra S1.
Then you should check the Device Manager if all the USB ports have been recognized correctly.

If the USB ports would be NOT visible in Device Manager, then I would tend to a hardware problem

  • Tecra S11 - 15 t - modem GPRS does not work on the internal USB port

My moden GPRS doesn't work when I plug it into the USB port of the docking station or if I use a USB port hub. If I plug it directly into the USB port of the laptop, I get an unknown device in Device Manager.

I tried to reinstall the chipset of my Toshiba Tecra S11-15 t. I can't the device runs directly from USB port on the laptop. I have WIN XP Professional.

    Hey,.

I n t have experience with such GPRS or UMTS modems, but you can try to remove the USB ports on the Device Manager, and then restart your laptop. After that the ports will be recognized automatically and USB drivers will be reinstalled.

I guess you also need a driver for this USB modem so I would recommend also reinstall this driver after removing the USB ports from the Device Manager.

    Check this box!

When you work with external storage devices, my devices disconnect by them - same (somethimes) after somethimes 5 minutes after 1/2 hour and when working with multiple devices all devices disconnect at the same time, a place of the problem on each usb connection.
I tried various storage devices such as sticks of memory cards sd with a usb adapter and hard drives.
How can I tell if the problem is hardware or software partners?

    Greetings,

    Marco

It seems that your usb devices sometimes need ampere more supplies (500mA max) usb port.
Establish an external usb hub and connect your storage devices. The usb hub must be active (with adapter)!
    It should work.

  • Tecra A11 & Express Port Replicator II - USB problems

    Hello

I'm having a problem with a port replicator that I simple couldn't have resolved for months. I'll try to explain this as best I can.

We have a Tecra A11, which seems to work fine running on Windows 7 Professional. When the Tecra A11 is pluged in an Express Port Replicator 2, not USB ports in the port replicator's work at all. Very good cell phone fees and the LAN switches on the replicator fine, but the USB ports simly does not work under any circumstances. It would also be interesting to note that the green light next to the "eject" button lights never really.

I downloaded and installed the latest series driver for Windows 7 from the Toshiba support page which has no effect. We had 2 replacements for Toshiba because they also agreed that the previous, we had were not woring correctly, but this obviously was not the case because we still have the same problem with our 3rd unit. The Tecra A11 was sent back to Toshiba with case notes clearly describing the question, and he was sent to us "no fault found".

Unfortunately, we don't have any other laptops to test on the port replicator. but I'm seriously suspect that the problem lies in the laptop, rather than the port replicator. For any idea or suggestion will be greatly appreciated.

    Kind regards

    Steve.

    Hello

According to your message, you are not sure if the problem is related to the defective laptop Tecra or express port replicator.
Hmm theoretically the problem might be related to defective express port replicator or Tecra.

If found some information on the USB ports and the repliators port:

+ Make sure that the element of Legacy USB in the BIOS emulation is set to "Enabled". This feature only works for the keyboard and mouse. Also note that the keyboard and mouse must be connected before you start the computer. A USB mouse, keyboard or the floppy drive connected to the Port Replicator via any other connection that a hub of the first level, will not work until the operating system has started. +

I also recommend to check the version of the BIOS; If the most recent BIOS is available, then you need to update this

  • HP Envy x 360 (M1V68UA): USB Ports all failed - resembled HW failure, but resolved by reinstalling a driver

This post is an explanation of the complete absence of the laptop (2.0 & 3.0) USB ports and the later hotfix.

Suspecting a hardware failure, I ran the Diagnostics UEFI and received confirmation of a default by a character 27 failure code.  This type of information is supposed to be useful to someone, but I couldn't find any documentation on this failure on the Web code and technician HP customer care has never offered an explanation.  The ID of the failure, I received was:

    0GF87X-7NW88A-GXGJMF-8D3Q03

I made arrangements to ship the laptop to HP repair, but while waiting to receive their shipping box, I continued to research.  I happened to run System Mechanic from iolo and noticed a tool "Toolbox |" Recover | Troubleshooting of the system"that took me as a result of convenience store window 10.  I ran the hardware and devices troubleshooter, and confirmed a problem with the USB ports.  But, surprisingly, the fix was to install the latest driver for the Intel USB 3.0 eXtensible host controller (USBXHCI. (SYS).

Once the driver has been reinstalled, the USB port problem has been resolved.  He worked for 3 days and I was able to back up my laptop on an external hard drive into a USB port, as I usually do.

So if you see a problem with your USB ports, which can resemble a hardware failure, it is better running of the utility window hardware & peripheral troubleshooting.  It can save you an unnecessary repair work.

    Best regards, Mike

As I understand it you had conducted a test of material using the UEFI diagnostic tool and received a failure ID, however, you install the latest driver and solved the problem.

I'm glad that worked for you, even if you keep the only common, the ID of the failure you captured represents a "Communication error" device on devices such as GPS, switch and/or USB, HUB, Modem, network card, network drive, PCI, PCMCIA card.

Install the most recent driver is one of the first steps to solve the communication error, however, if the problem is intermittent because it sometimes a repair would be the best way to go.

  • USB port does not work on Tecra M3

I need assistance with my Tecra M3 USB issues.

It has 2 USB ports. Awhile back, the USB ports refused to recognize USB keys without driver (I don't have any driver needed to try sticks).

Recently I had to reinstall my modem ADSL from Siemens, etc. pilot that runs via a USB - connection to the LAN 2 then WAN miniport. And now a problem.

    1. the Modem LED told me that she has the power (it's a modem off - Siemens-C100-1)
    2. the link that LED holds for about 10 minutes (while I am online) then turns off (although the properties of connections tell me that they are always connected)
    3. other equipment - printer etc. which is powered through the OK USBs.
    4. the modem seems to work ok because I can use it with an iBook without problems.

This would be a problem of USB driver? How will I know? If so how can I solve this problem?

    Thank you

    Hello

Don t think that the malfunctioning of USP ports or are defective.
It seems that another USB device works correctly. Or am I wrong?

You can first try to remove all the USB ports on the Device Manager.
Then restart the laptop and install the ports again! (By the way; after new reboot of the operating system automatically recognizes the USB ports)

Disable the option on all ports of the USP of energy saving, then try to connect the USB again!

  • USB port high speed - not available on Tecra M1

Question: How can I switch to high speed USB port?

    Driver: Intel 82801DB/DBM USB 2.0 Hostcontroller - 24 D of Microsoft Version 6.1.2600.0 issued 1.6.2002

Thanks for the reply in advance.

    See you soon,.
    Tom

First of all, you can't 'upgrade' your internal USB port to a Highspeed USB port. This is NOT possible, but your machine must have at least 2! ports USB 2.0 capable.

I suggest you do the following: download the latest drivers for your machine on Toshiba Driver download site, install and check if the error message appears, anywhere you´re attaching your USB 2.0 device.

Usually one or 2 of these ports should be able to USB 2.0.

If still, you get the same error message then come back and give some comments, then we can discuss more about.

    See you soon

  • Tecra S2: HDD as unknown device on two of the three USB ports

    Hey again,
I thought then that I was here anyway I could ask this too.
The tecra S2 has 3 USB ports, they all work very well for my USB mouse and other small things like the wacom tablet...
But when I plug my external hard drive in two of them, it says that it is an unknown device...

    I think, but am not sure, that this might have something to do with something once, we had to do in school;
We had once set up a pilot for a small converted Converter a series (or parallel, cant he recall) cable to the usb port
(I have already uninstalled the drivers but nothing has changed)

    It's just a guess...

any idea on how to solve this little problem? : p

    Hello

You said external USB HDD appears as an unknown device on two of the three USB ports.
What appears if you connect the HARD drive to the USB port on third?
It appears as an unknown device or what?

The device usually appears as an unknown device in device because manager not installed device drivers.
I check the HARD disk for the drivers and try to install it again.
