Tecra A4: ACPI corrupted

Hello

I have a problem with my laptop Tecra A4 (PTA40E): when I try to install windows xp, a blue screen appears. He says that the BIOS of my laptop does not support ACPI, so the installation will stop. I have no alternative but to turn off the laptop.

I upgraded my BIOS by Toshiba (v.1.70 for ATI) but still the same problem. Then I installed windows 2000 and success, but the ACPI does not work if the system can not shut down or restart my laptop, no Hibernate. I have to turn off the computer by pressing the power button / stop. In the System Manager all devices and drivers ok.

What could be? Is damaged motherboard? Troubleshooting ideas are highly appreciated.
Best regards
Mizyn

Hello

In my opinion your laptops motherboard isn't too bad.
I think you simply need to access the BIOS and it should define the default settings.
Save your changes, and then try to reinstall Windows XP SP2 again.

By the way; Which Tecra A4 do you have exactly? I mean the model number and the ATI or Intel GPU?

    Hello

Before I give you an answer to your question I'll just give you a little advice. On the Toshiba page you can find a lot of very useful information on laptops and all problems that may occur.

  • Tecra A2 ACPI question - systems of scaling of the CPU do not work

    Hi *.

I have Toshiba Tecra A2. It works very well for a year and a half, but now I have some problems. Apparently in ACPI problem. I use SuSE Linux (10.1), but I also have Windows XP Pro on this machine. In both CPU scaling systems do not work.

Also, when I try to reboot both systems can stop, but then (I thing that it is the BIOS time) just shut down. I can only hold the power button for 5 seconds and material poweroff. I update the bios to version 1.4, set default values, but noting help.

Any idea? And not only that, is possible to ask Toshiba support center any problem by mail or telephone?

    Thank you
    Branimir Ackovic

    Hi Branimir

I'm don't know if someone will help you because Linux is not supported for operating system. Your device has two operating systems and also start Manager and there is no standard situation after discount and supported OS is there without any other substance.

On this path, it is not easy to make a serious diagnosis, but you can try to contact the hotline of Toshiba. Please see the official page of Toshiba Europe under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com

I put t know in which country you live, but you can also try to contact authorized partner. Addresses you will find under http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/su/su_gaspLocator.jsp?pf=true

    Good luck!

  • Tecra A4 - display corrupted

My old A4 works perfectly for years without any problem, but now when it starts at the windows screen that it just shows the horizontal strips in dotty/staircase of color for a few seconds then comes error "blah blah stuck in a loop video adapter or driver bla bla may be defective, blah blah.

The laptop only works in vga mode (without crashing in this error), but even this has generally thin vertical strips of points evenly spaced on color screens. In a display of black and white text, the white text Gets the extra bits added to it which makes it difficult to read.

I disassembled the laptop to check if there is anything obvious, but I don't see anything. I saw nothing obviously wrong with the video card as solder joints dry etc, but I guess that the fault is with the video card?

There is no problem with the driver I tried an older image and original installation CD.

My only option seems to be to find an A4 thrown for work (I hope) part.

I have install all drivers at Toshiba support and do all update from microsoft.

Board of Directors of the BIOS is 3.00

But I still have an unknown device (ACPI\TOS620A)

    Can someone help me?

    Thank you

    Hello

As far as I know the unknown device ACPI\TOS620A needs the Protection of HARD drive utility.
Eventually it s an acceleration sensor built into the computer.

Visit the page of European driver of Toshiba and download the utility of the HARD disk Protection.

  • Tecra S1: Cannot install Windows Vista - ACPI.sys driver problem

Get the blue screen when you try to install Vista Ultimate edition on my Tecra S1--> STOP... ACPI.sys incompatibility.

Someone knows how to fix this problem and where can I find an update for this driver?
I already have the latest version of the BIOS (2.50) and don't see any driver update on the Toshiba site...

Someone at - it already correctly installed Vista on this type of laptop?

    Hello, Johnny

Robin is quite right. Tecra S1 is a portable older and certainly not Vista supported. As you know just for laptop with Vista capable sticker are supported Vista and Toshiba offer a BIOS update to make it Vista ready.

I recommend you to use Windows XP Home as before. Optimize Windows XP Home edition preinstalled and you will have very good performance on this laptop more old.

    Bye and good luck!

  • Tecra S5 - 10: ACPI driver for Windows XP

I had to downgrade a tecra S5 of company from Vista to XP pro for obvious reasons when you use a computer for professional use.

I successfully patched the OS with the utility chipset but windows keep saying that my computer is not ACPI!

Is there a driver or a specific patch?

Good news! Thanks for the comments. Usually if you use all the stuff that follows the order of instructions of facilities do not have any problem.

  • Tecra A6 PTA641T - impossible to find drivers for Win 7 for ACPI\TOS6209

    Tecra A6-PTA641T-05U00Y.

I can't find the driver for it:
Toshiba added value to general use and logical device
    The hardware ID is ACPI\TOS6209.

I try to find the driver on the site of Support from Toshiba, but failed.

Could someone give me the suggestion to solve this problem?
    Thank you.

    Hello

I think the ACPI\TOS6209 is the HDD protection Utility!
You must install this HDD protection Utility, and must then check again the Device Manager.

I reinstalled Windows Vista business on a Toshiba Tecra A9 with the restoration of dvd.
After that, I'm getting more error: could not open the ACPI ATK0100 Kernel Mode driver.

I installed all the drivers and the error remains.

    Hello

    > I have reinstalled Windows Vista business on a Toshiba Tecra A9 with the restoration of dvd.

Have you used the Toshiba Recovery CD or did you install Vista using the Microsoft Vista DVD?

If you used the recovery CD Toshiba n you no need to download and install page of the Toshiba driver Vista drivers. The Toshiba Recovery CD already contains these drivers.

In any case, I'd appreciate more feedback from you

  • Tecra A2 asks pilot HAL (ACPI) while XP insatallation

    Hello
Hope one of you can help me with little of the issue concerning the relocation of a Tecra A2.
One of my coluges have an and I crashed the HD and have lost the CD reinsatll :-(

I hate portable reinsalling, when there is no recovery media :-(
So I hopw someone can tell me what follows, it is my first Toshiba for many years.

I would like to install the computer for him with a windows xp Pro sp2, but during the installation it asked you HAL (ACPI) driver, is there a special for this model or what schould I select in the list?

When I install with a standard ACPI driver and install the drivers for Tectra A2, most of the computer works, but when I restart, windows gives me a bootmenu recovery, is anyway to get rid of this?

I installed the latest version of the bios, and and and, but now I need help.

    Thanks in advance :-)

    / Kilsgaard Graves

    Hello

First something about HAL if someone doesn t know what HAL:
    Well, I found this:
Microsoft provides the ACPI driver as part of the operating system. On systems that have an ACPI BIOS, the HAL causes the ACPI driver to load when you start the system at the base of the tree devices, where the pilot acts as interface between the operating system and the BIOS.

As far as I know the recovery CD contains Windows XP SP1a.
I visited the page of the Toshiba driver and found that there are several drivers that are required to install the operating system.
Intel Chipset Software Installation Utility V5.0.2.1002
    Intel Q332179 mobile CPU driver
    Fix for sysprep.exe Q824672
Fix for 'Windows XP SP1 compatibility problems' Q329623
Fix for 'Windows XP USB 2.0 Driver' KB822603

    And so on

I think you should fund a clean win boot CD using nLite and chipset and all the patches of the Toshiba page should be integrated.
But the simplest to install the operating system recovery CD. You can order the ASP in your country

  • Tecra M11 - Player cards and corrupted images

When I put an xD card in the front slot of the Tecra M11, the images it downloads are corrupt. When downloading via an external drive of XD (for example the camera itself) the images are okay. Here is an example of a corrupt image:
    http://www.Flickr.com/photos/jasonjudge/5816195077/in/set-72157604215066892

Here's the same image downloaded from the camera via USB:
    http://www.Flickr.com/photos/jasonjudge/5856376812/in/set-72157626887798337

Is this a driver issue Windows 7 (32 bit) (I can't find any updated driver in the website of terrible driver taking me to the bottom of many dead ends) or would it be a hardware problem?

    Jason
PS what is on this forum who keeps throwing my cursor in the subject box as I am typing in the message field?

    Hey,.

What xD cards you use exactly and you have tested different cards?
The same thing happens if you use a SD or SDHC card for example?

Toshiba page is very easy to find driver updates. Have a look here:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > download drivers

There is a newer version for Windows 7 32 bit so I would recommend the card reader driver update.

  • Tecra M5 - corrupted HARD drive

    Hello

I have a Tecra M5 laptop and have replaced the hard drive twice as the data on the drive seem to corrupt itself - and the second time after a month.
Note, I've been using brand new discs hard too.

The only thing I can think that there is a problem with the hardware, but I was wondering if anyone had any other ideas that the laptop is out of warranty.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Dan

    Hello

The laptop can not damage the HARD drive!
The HARD drive can cause damage, for example, because of the high stress of use

But if the HARD drive is recognized by the BIOS, and if it of possible to install the operating system and then the disc is ok and that only the data seems a shame.
This can happen still and so is advisable to back up the files and important data on a second partition, HARD drive or disk.

If your have a larger HARD drive, and then create partitions. In addition you should defragment the simple scores from time to time.

    Welcome them

  • Tecra M9 - Windows 2000 ACPI

I am trying to install Windows 2000 on a Tecra M9 (model PTM90).

I slipstreamed successfully Intel Matrix Storage Controller drivers in my Windows 2000 installation disc, but the Installer Blue-screens in trying to detect the ACPI BIOS. At this point, the stop message tells me I can start Windows installation and press F7 to avoid the ACPI control. I tried and managed to get Windows 2000 is installed, but power management has failed. The laptop detects even when he was running on battery - not very helpful!

I tried updating to the latest version of the BIOS (1.60), but Windows 2000 install always fails.

Moreover, most of the hardware works under Windows 2000, even if installers on the Toshiba site claim to be for XP.

Is anyone know how make ACPI work properly on this laptop under Windows 2000?

    Cheers, Giles.

    Hello

Uh, you're trying to install what? Why?

Why are you trying to install an NT-based OS that is as old as your machine, what is VISTA compatible (which doesn't mean you should install Vista :)))
Gets an old, incompatible and not supported operating system which makes the machine slow (because the socket driver is really not good) and does not work properly.

If you need advice: remove it and work with a newer operating system. And if you need the computer as a SERVER, use Linux. But avoid the Win2000. :)

    Welcome them

  • Tecra M4: Unknown device ACPI\TOS620A\2 & DABA3FF & 0

    Hello

on my Toshiba Tecra M4 installed freshley I have a peripheral onknown in Device Manager.
    Its device instance ID is ACPI\TOS620A\2 & DABA3FF & 0.
I can't find any hint what device is missing. I installed all forms of road the download web page and don't miss a device.

How could I know what camera he ist?

    Thank you
    Christof

    Hello Christof

AFAIK ACPI has something to do with the power interface. I found an info where is mentioned that ACPI establishes standard interfaces based on the OS configuration and power on laptops, desktops and servers.

In my opinion, you should check the BIOS settings. Very important is that the configuration of the device option is set to Set up by BONE. I had a similar problem. I didn t know what it may be, but I had no problem using Notepad.

I do not know what device might, but this Toshiba document should help you identify the unknown device in Device Manager.
    http://support.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/TSB57014E000QR01.htm

Then, you can visit the page of the Toshiba driver and download the necessary driver that is necessary for this device.
