Tecra A4: Bios password rejected: keyboard hardly available?

Before you travel, I decided to protect my work laptop (Tecra A4) with a Bios password and a hard drive password.

I have am went into Bios, entered the master password, went to page 2, enter disk password, rebooted, got the requested password, type it... rejected. Tried 3 times and the laptop crashed.

What happens here? I * know * the password I typed, as I typed twice in the Bios screen, so I'm * sure * of what I typed.

so I'm suspected a problem of keyboard layout, as I have a QWERTY layout.

Is it possible that when the administrator Bios available is one way and the initial password screen, another way? I used 'a' and 'm', the letters that move between Qwerty and Azerty.

Of course I tried to type my password with 'q' instead of ' a 'and'; ' instead of 'm', but no use.

I'm locked up. It's driving me crazy.

Any help welcome,
David

Hello

I studied a bit on the Toshiba site and found this Toshiba document:
http://support.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/TSB5A0164000IR01.htm

Well, if you won't solve this problem, you will need to contact Toshiba.
It may downgrade the BIOS or remove the BIOS password.

  • Tecra S1:Bios password

    Hello
someone has an idea? How can I put a supervisor with W2k Bios password?

    Thank you

    Hi benji

I'm not sure that this model of laptop comes with W2K and it is possible that batch of pilots and different tools operate correctly with W2K, but obviously not.

Try reinstalling the common and utility modules Toshiba, Toshiba console for W2K.

  • On a Tecra A2 BIOS password

I want to install a password that must be entered in order to make changes to the configuration of the bios.

However, when I try to do the password is required to start the computer - I don't want to.

Unlike other computers, I am unable to find a setting for the password only effects setup (i.e. BIOS) and not the system (i.e. when his kick to the top)

The security within the toshiba console option is unable to do so, because it signals that the installation is not available on the computer.

Could someone advise me please on how to do this.

    Hello

Quad is right. You can set the supervisor using the Toshiba Console password. If the SUPERVISOR password is set, the operating system can start but there is no way to get into the BIOS without password settings.

If you set the USER password there is no way to get into the BIOS or OS settings without password.

I put t know if your device comes preinstalled with DVD recovery, but if not all of these tools must be installed also. I don't know, but it must be installed TOSHIBA Console and TOSHIBA utilities.

  • Tecra S1 - Bios does not detect HARD drive

Hi, first time poster, long drive date.

I have a friends laptop with me an old S1, its hard drive has failed. (Even tried it on my USB adapter to diagnose).

I had another IDE HDD which works like a dream.
I can even install Windows up to a point with the exception of when the computer wants to do the first restart of the second phase of the installation. (Not on CD).

In the bios the HARD drive is not detected a 0 MB for the read command.
I tested the USB HARD drive. So works perfectly. will try another hard drive there tomorrow see what is happening.

I tried the recovery CD aswell. But she also can not detect the hard drive.
Finally, I even reflashed the Bios even if it was the last version 2.50.
    Still did not change.

If I'm just at a loss here. Tomorrow I'll do the following.

Try a 3rd HDD IDE into the machine.

Opening of the case and see if I can find the CMOS battery to replace or remove for a minute or 2 to see what is happening.
Is obviously a problem of bios of the HARD drive is detected. Has anyone ever encountered this before?

Windows / ERD Commander / Partition Magic 8 all finding the end hard drive.
Thanks for listening to my dribble that I feel like I'm banging my head against a wall being close.

    Kind regards

    Dave

What drive did you use and what size it it?
I think that not all HARD drive would be compatible because of the 28-bit LBA.

The 28-bit LBA supports hard disks up to 128GB and if the IDE controller supports only 28-bit LBA then it may happen that more large drives would not be recognized by the BIOS.

  • Tecra A11 - 1EG - cannot be accessed after the supervisor setting BIOS password

Hello, I would like to know if anyone can help?

We have started to put a supervisor on our laptop Tecra A11 password so that our students can not set passwords on the hard drive, etc.

To enter the BIOS and set a BIOS password, press us F2 that the machine starts.
Then we go to the security option, then supervisor password.
After entering the password we use twice, press us F10 to save etc.

The machine starts ok and will windows smoothly.

The problem we have now, is that we cannot go back into the bios at all.
As machine starts support us on the "F2" key as before, but unlike previously the screen remains white and the "Toshiba leading Innovation > ' screen no longer appears."

If we keep our finger on the F' key or continue pressing the laptop restarts just without ever get to the BIOS screen where I guess that get us ask the supervisor password that we set earlier?

Is there another key, that we should be pressing that start the laptop?

I would add that we have added a password of supervisor for the screen of security BIOS on three of our laptops and all three have the same problem.

    Thank you

    Steve

I think this should be useful for you:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/TSB0B032D0000R01.htm

In some cases, you need to press the "INS" in Toshiba logo appears.

Then appears a prompt for the password for the supervisor and if the password is certified then the BIOS could be entered by pressing the "F2" key

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

To be honest I don't know if it will be possible to m.

But as far as I know the Tecra A10 has of a pre-installed tool called: Toshiba security help.

This tool can be used for the parameters the user BIOS, disk HARD password user password or fingerprint fingerprint authentication.

Perhaps it would be possible to have access to this tool by using Active Directory.

You are doing the thing about this idea?

  • Tecra M5: How to use the HARD drive password when the HARD drive is connected as an external device?

I have a Toshiba Tecra M5 with MK1032GSX hard disk. I put a bios password and HARD drive password. Every day I turn on my laptop with my password a number only once: unlock the disk and bios. The password screen is before windows starts.

One day my laptop motherboard is broken, I bring my pc on the Toshiba support center (less disc) and I'm waiting for him (2 months ago). I need to read my date of the disc, but it is locked by password. The drive is a SATA drive, I put it on a desktop computer and I see it in the bios and in windows resource device, but I do not see in the Explorer.

None of the software I've tried (HDD unlock, atapwd...) will not work. I have my password, I have not forgotten.

How to read my date? Can you help me?
    Thank you.

    Hi Oscar

Hmmm I m not 100% sure, but I think that it s not possible to remove the HARD drive HARD drive password if you haven t your laptop.
I know that if the HARD drive password has been set the HARD drive is not more accessible and more usable.

  • Tecra M9: Does not start at the local network after the value of BIOS password.

Hi all, I have configured a supervisor BIOS password on a number of Tecra M9s but later found that this does not allow books to be PXE started - and a number of them require now that rebuild.

I tried pressing the cursor keys in the first screen flash "Toshiba" (with the device down icons), but this will not allow to select the boot device - it's as if the keys are not pressed.

I also tried to get into the BIOS to change boot device priorities, but I can't just to get into the BIOS in a limited form - there is no prompt to enter BIOS password.

In brief - how can I work around this? -J' I need to know how to get the BIOS to ask the supervisor password (pressing ESC then F1 at boot only gives me the 'limited' BIOS)... Or, how to get the laptop for a PXE boot with a BIOS supervisor password.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

I would recommend pressing the F12 key, immediately after that the laptop has been powered.
This would allow the start on-screen menu.

Then choose the HARD drive as the boot source.
Then you could boot into the operating system and could use the Toshiba HWSetup to clear the supervisor password.

I guess the password is known to you

  • Tecra A3X - how to remove the BIOS password?

    Hello

I have a Tecra A3x who died before Christmas. I bought a motherboard replacement on eBay. I mounted the motherboard and the powers of the Unit well stop but to a password screen that is black. I tried to find a way to wipe the BIOS and have removed the CMOS battery for about 10 minutes. I read that most laptops have a jumper built in too fix. I've looked in the usual places - memory modules etc. I can t find it anywhere.

Any help would be very welcome.

    Thank you
    John

    Hello John

As you probably know BIOS password is very important security feature and remove the BIOS password can be described on the public forum of the manufacturer s. It is a kind of top secret information.
It is not logical to do this, right?

Each Tecra A3X stolen with BIOS password could be unlocked.
In my opinion, you should contact the person who sells you this motherboard and request password. If he cannot stop, return. At this info in the description of the product on its offer to ebay?
