Tecra M10 - how to view DVI?

We recently purchased 4 new portable m10 with the graphics card intel

We wanted to have two monitors using a port replicator, but it has come to our attention that the graphics card intel can't display DVI

We were wondering if there was any way to get around this problem? Without having to buy a new laptop.

For example is it possible to update the graphics card?

Thank you

Generally updated graphics on laptops is not supported and I think not possible. http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/TSB9401AX0001R01.htm

Back to your problem:
Are written in s operating manuals
That the operation of the port of all DVI (Digital Visual interface) monitors has not been confirmed, some DVI monitors may not work correctly.

Have you tested with different monitors? I mean from different manufacturers?

  • Tecra M10 - 17 H no support DVI via docking station not

There is already a message asking this, but I wanted to point out that it is a problem affecting more than one user.

Too, I bought a Toshiba laptop for my business as it was supposed to be a laptop a serious matter. However, I must say that I am losing confidence that Toshiba understands what needs a company.

The docking station is frankly a joke. USB KVM will not work with it, probably, there is no PS2 port you can not use a KVM PS2 instead. Even if you could, the VGA dock does not detect the external VGA is present when there is a KVM. Of course, the answer is "simply" open up the laptop and set it up on the Panel, then switch to external whenever you turn it on. How can anyone think that is a response in a business, or any other environment is beyond me.

Now, I find that my laptop has an Intel graphics card I can't use the DVI port on the dock either. Which is really annoying, is that I could buy a laptop at half price, but wouldn't because I wanted a laptop class business that disintegrates not in respect of the use. I didn't pursue a fantastic graphic option because I did not doing anything fancy either, but graphics without the supported DVI via the dock is just simply ridiculous.

Now, I regret bitterly, to get rid of the old Dell D/Dock that although several years worked without fault and with DVI, with any old KVM and without any problems at all.

Sorry for the mug shot, but I am bitterly disappointed that I bought a cheap puppy that I can't afford to write off for a good while yet. Meanwhile despite works well when it works, the laptop is a right royal pain to use when the dock is therefore unnecessary.

But it seems that the DVI port on the Port Replicator Port Express is supported only on computers with ATI graphics card or nVidia.

  • How much memory can I mount in a Tecra M10 - 1CN?

How much memory can I mount in a Tecra M10 - 1CN and should be in two 200 pin SO DIMM DDR2 PC2-6400 800 MHz modules

    Hello

Expand the memory depends on the chipset of the motherboard
The Tecra M10 supports the chipset Mobile Intel GM45 Express and this chipset DDR2 800 MHz RAM 8 GB max

So first of all, that you can use 2 x 4 GB RAM modules, and on the other hand the speed of memory is limited to 800 MHZ.

Even if you use faster modules i.e. 1033 Mhz FSB would clock speed to 800 Mhz so it s not worth to use faster than the DDR2 800 Mhz modules

  • How does 3G on the Tecra M10 - 11V?

I don't know how the capablilty of the 3G works on the Tecra M10 - 11V.

A few ideas come to mind. With a different (a lenovo laptop), I noticed that the chipset integrated 3 g Vodafone is blocked. I also saw on another laptop space for a SIM card from a network of my choice.

Judging by the previous posts, it seems that there is a space for a SIM card in the laptop.

Anyone would be able to elaborate on this?

    Thank you very much!!
    Jon

Remove the battery, you know a SIM slot?

My friends Tecra M9 has a 3G slot and it can use any SIM. To make it work under Windows, it had to enter the proxy of suppliers in 3 G connection manager, then he worked :)

  • Tecra M10 and Express Port Replicator, no DVI to Toshiba 20 "LCD output

    Hello

As the bed of the subject line, I will put up a new Tecra M10 with the Express Port Replicator and monitor LCD Toshiba Tekbright 20 ".

The system works on Windows XP, and the ordinary VGA connection on the port replicator works fine when connected to the external LCD.

However, there seems to be no way to get the DVI interface on port replicator, working on the LCD.

I tried to run this utility, and it does not detect the DVI monitor at all.
    http://www.entechtaiwan.com/util/moninfo.shtm

I have updated graphics drivers Intel for XP, form the Web from Toshiba site and also have the latest version of the BIOS.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you very much
    Paul

    Hello paul

Your Tecra M10 has DVI port?
Replicator port is not some sort of converter and it will be just a loop through the signal directly from the laptop.
If the computer laptop doesn t supports DVI output you cannot expect to get signal from the port replicator.

  • Tecra M10 - 11U - on Windows 7 battery problem

    Deal all,

I'm a happy user of a Tecra M10 - 11U use it mainly for businesses since the beginning. 2009 A few weeks, my company has decided to control Windows 7 on selected computers, upgrading to Windows Xp and Vista to Windows 7 32 bit. Unfortunately, shortly after the upgrade, a message "consider replacing your battery" appeared and quickly reduced battery performance. Consider that it used to last about 2 to 2.5 hours with XP and now it only lasts for 25 minutes. I checked several forums and the issue seems to be known to Microsoft, accusing the sellers for not releasing appropriate drivers ACPI. In some cases, the problem solved after the release of an updated firmware.

Does anyone else has the same problem with their Toshiba laptop? And if any has an idea on how we could solve it? Also, a serious side effect of the problem is the complete battery destroy leading sooner or later the laptop to be transformed to dektop beeing constantly powered and pluged. So if anyone from Toshiba has the slightest idea on how we could prevent the Burnout full battery, please let us know!

    Manos

    Hello Manos

I have Tecra M10 but use Satellite A300 and Qosmio x 300. Two laptop computers were shipped with Vista, but a few months I use Win7 on two laptops. I must say that I have not noticed something similar to your problem described. Autonomy of the battery and the performance is equivalent to everything in fact as before.

Is that Tecra M10 is supported for Win7 and everything should work fine.
In my view there is not much you can do about it. Everything you can possibly try is do BIOS update and make your own and clean install of Win7 with all the available drivers, tools and utilities.

If the problem persists, I think that you contact the nearest Toshiba service provider and ask for help. Here you will not become a Toshiba statement about it so maybe is the track of service contact to learn more about this issue. They have access to the database of Toshiba or they can communicate with people of Toshiba and ask for good information.

  • Tecra M10 - stuck - CTRL key question may be to do with the BIOS?

    Hello and thanks for reading.

I recently changed my Tecra M10 to Windows 7 (from XP), and it quickly developed the dreaded question-button stuck CTRL This causes the keyboard behaves as if the CTRL key is pressed continuously. Sometimes reaching a key combination, or bring up the on-screen keyboard, temporarily solves the problem, but he returned.

It seems to be a problem that many people have no simple solution. I watched each thread that I find and tried a lot of things to do with drivers etc without success.

So first of all, if anyone knows a remedy that works for this particular machine, I would be very grateful to hear!

Then, there are two things that I did not yet: updating the BIOS and turn off pinch zoom.

I was watching the following BIOS update:

    http://www.Toshiba-Asia.com/SG/support/drivers/details/25244

... which is the version 3.00 and seem to be more recent. My version is 1.90.

However, version 3.00 is labeled "for PTMB0 * ONLY. I don't know what that means or if it applies to me. Can anyone help? Should I install this BIOS?

For the pinch zoom, I was informed that disable sometimes cures the problem CTRL - but I can't find any installation zoom pinch on the M10. I think he doesn't have any one. Is this fair?

Thanks much for any help you can give.

    Hello

    > I was watching the next BIOS update. is the version 3.00, which seems to be most recent. My version is 1.90.

There are different Tecra M10 models on the market.
Check the labels at the bottom of the unit. There you should find numbers like for example PTMB0E-01K00LGR

The first 6 characters are important: for example PTMB0E

I guess that your laptop belongs to the series of Europeans.
In this case, you should check the page of the Toshiba UE driver for a possible update of the BIOS.
    http://www.Toshiba.EU/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp

However, on the page of the Toshiba UE driver you will also find the BIOS for all European units Tecra M10 v3.0.

Anyway, back to Ctrl + button question: guess what, you need to connect an external USB keyboard and must check how is the CTRL key.
In case the USB keyboard would work properly, the internal keyboard CTRL key is assigned and you will need to replace the internal keyboard.

PS: it would be possible that the "sticky keys" option has been activated. To disable this feature, you must press SHIFT 5 times in the line.

  • M10 SP works with DVI out and duplicator?

I bought an Advanced Port Replicator II and after I have a chance to recognize, M10 isn't compatible DVI with this Port Replicator (connector is still there on the dock...)... Nice... Well, so I tried to find some information on this case with Advanced Port Replicator III, how that fits with M10 and DVI. I tried to find a few hours of web with none of the success of answer.

On APR III-Manual they just say that "DVI may not work with your computer" without any models but with M10Pro of the work. If someone could tell me, not supporting APR III DVI with my M10Pro or is this connector only one kind of decoration as was the APR II. I really don't want no conversion DA / useless AD here.

    Hello

Without unnecessary conversation, I can tell you that Replicator advanced port cannot create any signal. Signal must be created to the laptop and it comes through Apr. If the unit doesn't supports DVI there is no how to use it. As far as I know that Satellite Pro M10 and video DVI - D support via PortReplicator is not available.

In any case, you can check some interesting discussions on DVI on this forum. Go to advanced search and check for the DVI search term.

    Good bye

  • Can Tecra M10 - 10 H - I use two screens?

    Hello

    Looking for an explanation.

We just bought some new laptops Toshiba M10 - 10H, previously, we used the M9 and had no problem with setting up two monitors by plugging in 1 DVI port and 1 on the VGA port on the port replicator. It does not seem possible to do on a M10.

We have drivers installed on the M10 for Intel G45 express chipset and don't use model Toshiba Express Port Replicator. PA3508E-1PRP.

Is it really the case that you cannot configure a M10 with two monitors, it seems to be the case, but seems porr mobile most recent higher spec of the M9 is not able to do this?

    Thanks for any advice.

    Hello

This feature depends on the Tecra laptop opportunity.
The DVI port on the on the Port Replicator Port Express is supported only on computers with graphics card ATI or nVidia.
If you have a DVI INTEL graphics card port on the on the Express Port Replicator only is NOT supported.

Both the use of a DVI and VGA port is so not possible!

  • Upgrading the BIOS on a Tecra M10 but without MS Windows

    Hello!

My Tecra M10 runs OpenSolaris. No windows on this machine. Question is how upgraded the BIOS on this subject? The only file that I found to download is a Windows executable file...
Another way? Such as the creation of a CD or a USB drive?

    Thanks in advance,
    Gilles gravel

And what files you want to save on a CD or USB stick?
Long since Toshiba doesn't offer traditional BIOS update but only the Win version.
What you can try is to contact nearest Toshiba authorized maintainer and ask for help.

They have access to the database of Toshiba and I imagine that they can help you with the update of the BIOS.
You can also exchange of HDD, recovery of installation image, make sure BIOS update and put old HDD with solaris back. Maybe some friend of you HARD drive and you can borrow for this purpose.

  • Scan fingerprinting - and Tecra M10 notebook computer does not properly

    Hello

We got a Tecra M10 notebook and its fingerprint reader is not working properly and I tried all kinds of things to make it work but not joy.

Can I know how can I claim the warranty, and how to contact Toshiba service provider because I can't find the coordinates of the Toshiba warranty service?

    Don

    Hello Don

Before contacting service install OS using Toshiba Recovery CD/DVDs. With digital fingerprints factory settings scan and preinstalled software should work correctly.

Otherwise, you can contact the nearest Toshiba authorized service provider and ask for help. They check the functionality. Addresses and phone numbers, you will find under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > support & downloads > find an ASP.

    Good luck.

  • TECRA M10 (models PTM40E/PTM42E) for Windows 7 upgrade

    Hello
We have two former TECRA M10 (models PTM40E and PTM42E) and you want to update the PC now for Windows7. After the installation of a new (larger) HARD drive, we ran the recovery DVDs. After that recovery completed successfully, we have installed a version of Windows 7 Professional (replacing the recovered Win - XP) and let Windows Update all the drivers on the Internet. After installation is complete, the majority of work and PC applications of material (e.g. display drivers where found and installed, stylus for touch screen works). But touch rotation does not work, the touchpad has also no scroll function).

We found 47 drivers Toshiba basic support, but not of documentation on how to use them.

    Can we using this forum?

    Thanks in advance...

    Peter

Are you sure you have Tecra M10? M4 maybe?

On the Toshiba download page, I found only Tecra M4 with model number PTM40E and PTM42E.

  • Tecra M10 - 120 - my European warranty is not valid in the United States

    Hello

    I have a Toshiba - Tecra M10 - 12o laptop.
This unit that I bought in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates UNITED with 2 years international warranty extension.
The warranty is still on, and now I am settled in the USA.

Now, I'm having a problem with the LCD and want to have it repaired. I went to two suppliers of services authorized for Toshiba in New York, but after reviewing my system, they said that they are not allowed to fix it because it's a European model laptop.

For the same problem, I had the LCD screen, replaced in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates UNITED Toshiba distributor/service provider. But good as now I am in New York, USA and not able to get the correction of a problem here.

Please kindly advice how to get this problem fixed so that in the United States for a laptop of model Europen.

    Thanks in advance.

    Kind regards
    Prasad

    Hello

As far as I know and after the guarantee page ÉMAÉ Toshiba, Toshiba computers laptops, Netbooks and Smartbooks are covered by at least 1 year EMEA standard warranty, valid from the date of purchase.
This warranty is applicable only in the EMEA region (Europe, Middle East and Africa)

You can find more details here on this Toshiba European page:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/innovation/services/standard-warranty/

Here you can find the PDF EMEA warranty info.
    http://goo.GL/wN1mS

So if you're outside the region of EMAE and if you don t have bought additional warranty extensions, you will have to pay for the service :(

  • Updating BIOS on Tecra M10 - Install2 does not work

    Hello
    I have a Tecra M10 - 13L with Vista Business SP2 32-bit installed.

I tried to update my BIOS from v1.6 to the currently available in download v3.0 "bios - 20091104152403.zip" page support and unpacked "P0065v300.exe", dated to the 4.11.2009. When I run the program, I always get the message windows "install2 does not work" and that the process is abandoned.

In the C:\TOSHBIOS folder. UPD, I found an install2.exe dated 12.08.09 which seems is decompressed from the bios update file.
Any ideas how the update can be done?

I already loaded the update servers diferent BIOS file and tried several times, but its still the same problem.

    Hello

Why do you update the BIOS?
Is there something wrong with the laptop?
BIOS should be updated only if you have a problem. If the laptop works well, then I wouldn't update this

However, I found three BIOS for Tecra M10 v3.0
    -bios - 20091104172541.zip
    -bios - 20091104152403.zip
    -bios - 20091103164158.zip

Try if one of the packages of the BIOS might be decompressed correctly and the exe file could be executed.
