Tecra M10 - light screen problems

Hi guys,.

at first I m sorry for my English is not perfect.

That is the problem.

When I created the brightness on my screen on max, everything is OK.
But when I put it down to minimum, after awhile the diodes (or bulbs) stop working.

I think there are 4 LEDs in the screen for two more left to stop work.
When I created the brightness to max once again, after a while these left diodes begin to work again and everything seems fine.

I thought that I would like to reinstall the display driver, but when I download and run the Setup.exe it says that my pc does not meet the requirements for the installation of this software and I have no idea why.

Any idea what should I do?

Thanks for your advice.

Lucien

PS: I have Tecra M10. C2D, Nvidia Quadro NVS 150

> When I created the brightness to max once again, after a while these left diodes begin to work again and everything seems fine.

Don t think its problem of diodes generally the FL inverter controls the brightness of the screen.
The fl inverter is a small part that is placed behind the frame of the screen.

I would say that this part needs to be replaced, but of course this is only my personal opinion and I recommend you ask a technician for a control before changing anything.

  • Tecra A2 - grey screen problem

I bought a PC laptop Toshiba Tecra A2 nearly 4 years ago. It worked perfectly until a few days where he has stopped working. Now when I open a gray screen and nothing else. It won't turn off or do anything. The interesting thing is that when I press the button, I hear the sound loading windows. This leads me to believe that there is a problem with the display and not the hard drive.

The big problem is that ALL my photos were on the laptop and I didn't have them backed up prior to the crash. So is it possible that I can remove the hard drive and somehow get my photos. I have no problem with the replacement of the laptop as it is old, but the photographs are priceless and I wouldn't lose them.

Everyone knows about this problem with a Toshiba before? Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

The connection of the screen may be loose, or the screen is maybe defective. Bring the laptop to an ASP for a quote.

Your data should be still intact. To retrieve the files, you can remove the HARD drive and use a USB 2.5 "HDD adapter to connect it to another PC. The HARD drive will be displayed as an additional drive (E: for example) letter, then you go to E:\documents and settings\ [user] \mydocuments\ and copies the files on the other PC, then burn these files to a CD or DVD.

Remember to always back up your important files regularly. You never know when the HARD drive will fail.

  • Qosmio F50 - light screen problems

I bought my Qosmio F50 less then one year in Croatia. The first day I turned it on I already have problems.

When the laptop has been marketing, before the BIOS startup screen, lines and weird models appeared on the screen and computer laptop itself blocked, then restarted.
This is is spent every 4 - 5 times I turned it on, sometimes during restart also.

Also when I had a black wallpaper, in the middle of the screen we saw as if the screen was dirty, lines that are on the screen that are not dirt or anything else you can clean.

Finally, after some time, I sent the laptop to the service and they said that the graphics card had gone wrong. Then they replaced. I also mentioned on the lines of "dirt" that can be seen when a darker background was on the screen. They replaced the graphics card, but they said nothing on the lines of "dirt" on the screen.

Now, a week, I have problems with the screen. Brightness of the screen is going crazy, for example when I'm on the web, the screen becomes a little darker and brighter and darker and brighter, and it goes like this very quickly. And it does that when I surf the web. Sometimes when I watch a film or do anything.

Its amazing, the Qosmio gives me so much trouble.

When I sent my laptop last time to the service provider in Croatia, they were extremely rude and they have not solved all my problems. They also said that the graphics card gone bad because of the improper use of the laptop, due to overheating or so. But this is not correct since the first time after I bought the laptop and turned on the lines before the BIOS screen appears.

I have returned the laptop the next day, but I did not. Now that I have problems with the brightness of the screen going crazy I'm not sure what to do.

    Any suggestions would be welcome.

    Thank you.

    > Now that I have problems with the brightness of the screen going crazy I'm not sure what to do.

Well, I think you should contact the technician of the ASP again and should explain your problem and should say that this behavior strange screen still persists and that it has not been resolved in the first attempt.

One of my friends owns a Qosmio F50 (don t know exactly the model number) and he is very satisfied. It of really a large notebook supporting many different multimedia functions and he didn t notice graphics problems or screen.

As I said above; get in touch with the ASP to get the verified material.

  • Blue screen of death, the Tecra M10 runing Win XP

My Toshiba Tecra M10 works like a dream for three years without ever gasp

    Until the other day.

My Toshiba laptop is constantly cycling with a BSoD - then I will start windows - it looks like it'll work - it gets in the paper password on screen - then a few blank screens - BSoD then again repeatedly

I am running XP Pro SP 3

I couldn't get my laptop to stop doing this, so I removed the battery and then the power cable and it started again and then when he went to BSoD I took a picture of the screen with my digicam fortunately I have one that focuses immediately and take the picture instantly too

    the ERROR is

    BAD_POOL_CALLER

    Tech Info

    STOP 0X000000C2 (0 X 00000043, 0XC38C0000, 0 X 00000000 0 00000000)

I haven't changed anything on my PC recently and I have tried all the beginning of the top safe mode and last known good configuration but it still cycles round and round and round

This laptop is not connected to anything and comes standard with a module of memory 2 MB in it to bog

the last known good configuration does not either, nor did one of the other options in the "safe".

So I slipped on the HARD drive and tried to boot from my XP CD - not the recovery of Toshiba, one that I have not tried this one in the laptop again.

Rather unsurprisingly with no HARD drive in the laptop, I got a different error

    STOP 0X0000007B (0XF78D2524, 0XC0000034, 0X00000000, 0X00000000)

which is I believe the inaccessible boot device - I know, it cannot see the HARD drive because it is sitting on my desk but would wait to boot from the XP CD... ISN'T IT?

I tried to set all the parameters by default both boot - no difference

With the HARD drive in - the laptop boots as windows user enter screen with no problems but doesn't stop on this screen - after a few screens blank the BSoD comes up and off it goes again.

In the advanced startup options, I changed auto-start on setting error so it does not loop forever. and this prevents loop to the start cycle... seems to be changing this setting is not a permanent change

Then I went into the BIOS and under the mode of the SATA AHCI to IDE controller and the STOP error 0x0000007B (0xF78D2524, 0xC0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000) is gone now and the pc will try to install Windows until I need to see the HARD drive and then gives up trying to install XP with a no. HHD error (the HHD is based of course on my desk) so it was a valid error expected...
put the HARD return drive without changing the BIOS back makes it appear the STOP 0x000000C2 (0 x 00000043, 0xC38C0000, 0 x 00000000 0x00000000) error

    HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLP please

    Hello

I think you should test the HARD drive don't you agree?
In my opinion, this should be the first part that should be checked since the new operating system installation was not possible

I recommend the use of the tool called: HDD Drive Fitness Test. This software creates a bootable floppy to test. You can use this disk to run a test HARD drive without installation of any system.

If the error would be detected: replace the HARD drive.
If no error would be: use the Toshiba Recovery disk in order to install the system. (don t forget to put back the BIOS to default)

  • Some problems with cloning Tecra M10

    Hello

I created an Image of the Tecra M10 and cloned it with Ghost8.2.

Then I tried to clone it to other M10 who has worked the most but mashine 2 or 3, I get an error "unable to read from the HARD drive please restart."
Does anyone have an idea what?

    Greetz

    Hello

I think the problem is the HARD drive where the image is stored because the GET error Impossible to * reading * from the HARD drive please restart.
Then you should check the HARD disk where is the image is stored. I looked, and a good program for it's Drive Fitness Test.

Good luck and post your result.

  • Tecra M10 - will not do a 1080 p screen resolution

I have a Tecra M10 (PTMB3A-0KH06C), running on Windows XP (standard version of Toshy) anchored in a port replicator. To this, I have a Samsung XL2370 the DVI port.

I installed the Samsung drivers, and recognizes the lappy. However, when I put it in the native resolution of the 1920x1080@60hz it strobes like there is no tomorrow.
Looking through the limited settings, it tells me that it runs in 1080i. However, I am sure it must be 1080 p.

I guess that's because I have a Tecra M5, which also runs the same monitor. However, there are different drivers and a different video card. But it allows me to run of 1080i and 1080 p. When it is placed in 1080i it strobes like the M10. When in 1080 p, perfectly clear and stable.

Then. I did pass the M10 in the last driver of Toshiba TP10-M10-Nvidia - 6.14.11.7647 - XP.exe graphic. No difference. Still flickering at 1920 x 1080.

Then, against all rational thought, I decided to try the native nVidia drivers, 197.16_notebook_winxp_32bit_international_whql.exe. Has been dramatically. Each application that was running crashed. After the end of the process and restart explorer.exe, I rebooted.

Returned in Windows and bumped up to 1920 x 1080. WOW it worked. Strobe free and crisp. However, the engines were damaged or missing. All the other features had completely disappeard and I couldn't go to additional menus, and FN + F5 stopped working etc.

So I reinstalled the pilot TP10-M10-Nvidia - 6.14.11.7647 - XP.exe and am now at square one. Stroboscopic effect badly.

I googled the entire internets without result. I hope that someone here has had similar problems and he can point me in the right direction.

    Thank you
    Ty

Have you checked the Web from Toshiba site for a later version of the nVidia Driver?

Maybe you can try a nVidia Driver a model later, Toshiba, such as the Tecra P11.

What version of BIOS is installed?

  • Tecra M10 - 11U - on Windows 7 battery problem

    Deal all,

I'm a happy user of a Tecra M10 - 11U use it mainly for businesses since the beginning. 2009 A few weeks, my company has decided to control Windows 7 on selected computers, upgrading to Windows Xp and Vista to Windows 7 32 bit. Unfortunately, shortly after the upgrade, a message "consider replacing your battery" appeared and quickly reduced battery performance. Consider that it used to last about 2 to 2.5 hours with XP and now it only lasts for 25 minutes. I checked several forums and the issue seems to be known to Microsoft, accusing the sellers for not releasing appropriate drivers ACPI. In some cases, the problem solved after the release of an updated firmware.

Does anyone else has the same problem with their Toshiba laptop? And if any has an idea on how we could solve it? Also, a serious side effect of the problem is the complete battery destroy leading sooner or later the laptop to be transformed to dektop beeing constantly powered and pluged. So if anyone from Toshiba has the slightest idea on how we could prevent the Burnout full battery, please let us know!

In addition, you can check the link of Microsoft Technet:

    Manos

    Hello Manos

I have Tecra M10 but use Satellite A300 and Qosmio x 300. Two laptop computers were shipped with Vista, but a few months I use Win7 on two laptops. I must say that I have not noticed something similar to your problem described. Autonomy of the battery and the performance is equivalent to everything in fact as before.

Is that Tecra M10 is supported for Win7 and everything should work fine.
In my view there is not much you can do about it. Everything you can possibly try is do BIOS update and make your own and clean install of Win7 with all the available drivers, tools and utilities.

If the problem persists, I think that you contact the nearest Toshiba service provider and ask for help. Here you will not become a Toshiba statement about it so maybe is the track of service contact to learn more about this issue. They have access to the database of Toshiba or they can communicate with people of Toshiba and ask for good information.

  • Tecra M10 - stuck - CTRL key question may be to do with the BIOS?

    Hello and thanks for reading.

I recently changed my Tecra M10 to Windows 7 (from XP), and it quickly developed the dreaded question-button stuck CTRL This causes the keyboard behaves as if the CTRL key is pressed continuously. Sometimes reaching a key combination, or bring up the on-screen keyboard, temporarily solves the problem, but he returned.

It seems to be a problem that many people have no simple solution. I watched each thread that I find and tried a lot of things to do with drivers etc without success.

So first of all, if anyone knows a remedy that works for this particular machine, I would be very grateful to hear!

Then, there are two things that I did not yet: updating the BIOS and turn off pinch zoom.

I was watching the following BIOS update:

    http://www.Toshiba-Asia.com/SG/support/drivers/details/25244

... which is the version 3.00 and seem to be more recent. My version is 1.90.

However, version 3.00 is labeled "for PTMB0 * ONLY. I don't know what that means or if it applies to me. Can anyone help? Should I install this BIOS?

For the pinch zoom, I was informed that disable sometimes cures the problem CTRL - but I can't find any installation zoom pinch on the M10. I think he doesn't have any one. Is this fair?

Thanks much for any help you can give.

    Hello

    > I was watching the next BIOS update. is the version 3.00, which seems to be most recent. My version is 1.90.

There are different Tecra M10 models on the market.
Check the labels at the bottom of the unit. There you should find numbers like for example PTMB0E-01K00LGR

The first 6 characters are important: for example PTMB0E

I guess that your laptop belongs to the series of Europeans.
In this case, you should check the page of the Toshiba UE driver for a possible update of the BIOS.
    http://www.Toshiba.EU/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp

However, on the page of the Toshiba UE driver you will also find the BIOS for all European units Tecra M10 v3.0.

Anyway, back to Ctrl + button question: guess what, you need to connect an external USB keyboard and must check how is the CTRL key.
In case the USB keyboard would work properly, the internal keyboard CTRL key is assigned and you will need to replace the internal keyboard.

PS: it would be possible that the "sticky keys" option has been activated. To disable this feature, you must press SHIFT 5 times in the line.

  • Tecra M10 cannot install OS using disc SSD Kingston

    Hi all.

I am a computer tech and can usually find a way to fix something myself, (rock Google!).

But recently I had a Kingston SSDNOW 64 GB drive and decided to install in my Tecra M10 age of 12 months. 4 weeks ago I had a full head of hair, now I am completely bald.

The drive is recognized in the BIOS, but whenever I try to install Windows on it, I get nothing. I tried the recovery DVDs XP, recovery DVDs Vista The, the "free" upgrade Windows 7 recovery DVD, and a DVD Vista & Windows 7 retail. I can't drive to be recognized to install Windows.

I can copy the existing disk image, but it starts the splash screens and blue. Normally I think that driver RAID or hard disk controller, but Kingston assures me that there is no requirement on the one hand, (and a standard SATA drive does not require a, I tried).

I checked and installed the latest version of the BIOS for laptop. There is no update available for the SSD firmware. So I find myself with a laptop that always uses a slow, (relatively) hard drive and a very pretty silver rectangular Clipboard.

Can anyone think of anything whatsoever that I missed. Anyone working for Toshiba can tell me if there is a BIOS update for this problem (I search the forum and found many people who are struggling for SSDS working in Toshiba laptops)?

The sad thing is that the former other laptop I got for my son accepts the player and works fine!
I had many prefer to buy Toshiba, but I want SSD technology rather sooner than later, and if Toshiba does not go to support, I might have to change of Lenovo or Acer.

    Rob.

    > Normally I would RAID driver or controller hard drive, but Kingston assures me that there is no requirement on the one hand, (and a standard SATA drive does not require one, I tried).

I think you have misunderstood something the SSD drive does not need SATA drivers BUT the fact the OS (Win XP, Vista or Win 7)!

The SATA drivers are needed to recognize the HDD/SSD under Windows OS.
New generation of portable supports the new SATA controllers that require SATA drivers.

You will find on the European driver Toshiba Intel Storage Manager page

Intel Storage Manager contains the SATA drivers that are required to install the OS.

    Welcome them

  • Tecra M10 - CMOS battery is low and powers down and upwards automatically

    Toshiba TECRA M10 - 10W
    Model no PTMB1E-00P003EN

This laptop was working fine last week and is only about 1 year.

Now to the power he reports the CMOS battery is weak and penetrates into the configuration screen to set the date and time.

Once this is done, it shuts down and no more automatically, but everything works the CPU fan to high speed, no attempt to start etc.

If you press the power button with the fan running, it will be power downwards and upwards (while it is still connected to the power grid) and again to report a problem with the CMOS battery.

Any ideas on what is wrong and what can be done to fix this?

    Hello

First the CMOS battery can be charged while you let the connected AC/DC adapter, for example 24 hours a day. After that, the message CMOS battery shouldn't t appears more.
    Check this box!

The power automatically power cycle on and off can represent a danger due to a hardware malfunction can you start in Windows or in fact that happen before?
Maybe it s overheating and you need to clean the laptop using a jet of compressed air.

    Hello

As far as I know and after the guarantee page ÉMAÉ Toshiba, Toshiba computers laptops, Netbooks and Smartbooks are covered by at least 1 year EMEA standard warranty, valid from the date of purchase.
This warranty is applicable only in the EMEA region (Europe, Middle East and Africa)

You can find more details here on this Toshiba European page:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/innovation/services/standard-warranty/

Here you can find the PDF EMEA warranty info.

So if you're outside the region of EMAE and if you don t have bought additional warranty extensions, you will have to pay for the service :(

  • Recovery media for Tecra M10 - 10I required

    Hi all

Sorry to post this here, but I hope someone can help me out here because unfortunately, after talking to a member of staff at Toshiba UK, the support I need, they can provide.

I am a totally blind systems engineer and entrepreneur specialized in the legends of emergency to companies and specialist requirements, as well as installation, commissioning and decommissioning requirements, etc.. Recently, I lost my laptop main, unfortunately, he died because of overheating due to his age, a professional platform adapted to my needs to run the tools of my trade. the jury, burned into the RAM and HARD drive with her, it means I'm out of action,

However, a friendly contact of my friends helped me with gift of a system of Tecra M10 - 10i who arrived this morning, to be configured, etc.. However, the internal HARD disk was photographed with a default image of their company and not the official recovery / installation OEM. The disk HARD deleted anyway and RAM upgraded to 8 GB to become my replacement. Right now I am borrowing a member of the family system and running an edition of reader pen of my screen reader configuration. so access to emails, notes, etc. only.

My setup is based on different hardware and software components including chassis magma with PCIE cards, for data and the access control etc.

What I would do, it is the Image of the system using Toshiba recovery disks, however, I can't get hold of them through toshiba site and the site that sells isn't easy to blind, or use credit cards, etc., so here's the problem. Toshiba tell me that they can not provide recovery media and I have to go to a provider they use on the web and order records, etc.

This may be against policy here, so I apologize if this is the case, however, anyone here happen to have the recovery media for a system Tecra M10 - 10i, so Windows Vista Enterprise or Windows 7 Pro or similar that can update the system? The reason I ask because it is, it is easier for me to use a recovery image based or automated Ghost for this so I can install my screen, braille display driver reader interface, etc. and be running, rather than panic during the configuration of the audio without braille drivers / audio feedback.

If you can help, please e-mail me at [email protected]

    Cheers.

    > What I would like to make, it is the Image of the system using Toshiba recovery disks, however, I can't get hold of them through toshiba site and the site that sells is not blind to the environment, or use credit cards, etc., so here's the problem.

Dear Ed, I'm sorry to hear that it of difficult and impossible for you to order the Toshiba recovery from the Arvato page disk. Unfortunately, I m not Tecra M10 owner and don t have recovery for this unit disc.
But maybe you could ask a family member or a friend for assistance.

It (a credit card owner) could place an order for recovery on page Arvato disk and could order the media for you.
