Tecra R850, battery "plugged in, not charging".

Hello
I'd appreciate some thoughts on the problem.

The problem:
The battery is not charged. The icon in the status bar indicates that the battery is "connected" but that it is 'not charging' and 'remember to change your battery.
Something similar to:
https://BD23.HTTPS.CDN.SoftLayer.NET/80BD23/142.4.51.106/images/consider-replacing-your-battery.PNG
In addition, the battery charge indicator is off

What happened:
I was using the computer on battery power. During use, the message appeared that the battery is critical 3% and computer suddenly stop (or went to sleep/hibernate). It is possible that the battery was empty, since I was not charged for 2 days. Which was weird, is that I do not have the message that the battery is at 7%, which is normal warning that I get.
The next day, I plugged the computer power cord started. At the start, computer called I want to boot into 'Safe Mode' or 'Normal '. I selected 'Normal '.
Then I noticed the problem described above.

History:
Nothing in particular. Notebook is less than 2 years old. Battery was at six, now has dropped to about 4 hours, but had no previous problems. No power surge, does not drop the computer, etc...

Comments:
-L' computer works without battery, only on the power cable.
-L' computer does not react if I put only the battery, without the cable, even if it is said that the battery has 9 percent. (he says there are 3% before the initial stop, however)
-When I plug in the power cable, the battery charge indicator is on for 2-3 seconds (in orange) and then is off. This happens whenever I take the cable out, then in.
-What is strange, is that every time when I disable networks wireless/mobile using "Flash Cards" and restart the computer, they are 'on '. Previously, this situation will only occur when the computer crashed, or I made him stop (holding the power button)
-J' tried what was suggested on the forums of Toshiba:

* 1
§Remove cable power, battery, clean contacts, put everything back in place
§Leave to load a few hours
-> Indicator battery charge was not on a few hours after the

* 2
§Remove battery, start the computer
§Go to the "Device Manager".
§Uninstall method to control compatible ACPI Microsoft battery
Computer §restart
§ ACPI Microsoft settle again
Computer §shutdown
§Put battery, start the computer
-> No change, still do not charge, indicator is not lit

* 3
Also have interpreted 'Factory reset '.
§Apres recovery and restart, there is no change
§Cela time, when I turn off the networks wireless/mobile using 'Flash Cards', they remain "off" even when I reboot a computer, which was not the case prior to 'Factory reset '.
§However, if I take the feeder and then place it in (while the computer is turned off) and then start the computer, wireless/mobile networks are once again 'on '.

Any thoughts?

Thank you
Miodrag

On the picture, information is displayed: consider replacing your battery. This means that the battery is defective somehow.

I guess you need the battery help, another tested good original.

I don t Jules Destrooper that there is some sort of problem since you've already tried the factory reset recovery software and computer laptop. Problems of software, this procedure should resolve any software related issues. But it was not.

Problem started when the laptop was about 20 months, then current intermittently for about 3-4 months.  Battery plugged (not load) and while in this State (with connected AC), it runs quite fast.  New battery and battery... same problem.  In addition, during the time (no), if I remove the battery the laptop stops immediately, even if the AC is plugged.  I have read at least 200 questions like this and no one has an answer for that.  I don't think it matters what kind of laptop is much has made and models are experiencing the same thing. darloma,
Related material means that the problem is not, or cannot, be caused by the software.  Material are the physical components that makeup a computer system - case, motherboard, hard drive, screen, battery, etc., and the software is the operating system and the programs that run ON this hardware.  Sometimes it is difficult to determine if a problem is caused by the lack of equipment to operate according to the manufacturer's specifications or if the software is originally a problem because it creates a situation that makes the defective material.  But in the case of power - and more specifically a battery - it works or not.  If a battery is not that it is either a defective battery or a faulty charger.  There is not any software involved.  Software can cause a computer that is not closed properly, or wake from sleep correctly, but the software cannot do a battery hold a charge or not to hold a charge.  So Anthony said.  This problem cannot be caused by the operating system, so you should contact your hardware manufacturer.

    Hi Mohapurush,

Compatible Microsoft ACPI control method battery component supports the Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) control method battery, include an interface to control method of code ACPI Machine Language (AML) between the battery and the host computer.

You can use any type of communication interface supported by ACPI and any type of battery because the battery interface is fully accessible by the AML code control methods.

Battery monitoring and management are available only on compatible computers ACPI and APM-enabled. Windows can handle the batteries that have a smart battery subsystem interface or interface of battery method of control on ACPI computers. Windows can also monitor several batteries.

I recommend you contact the manufacturers of the system and check the settings on your computer.

  • Re: Satellite C660 - 1 3 - number "plugged in, not charging."

Last year, I bought a portable Satellite C660 - 1 to 3 of the United Kingdom; even today, I'm using the factory settings and running the operating system originally installed Windows 7. Here's the question I started yesterday face to leave:
-Even when the battery is connected and the laptop running, the power meter shows a decline, with the notification level "plugged in, not charging." The orange LED keeps blinking

-However, when I completely stopped the laptop, without touching anything anyone (not even touch the adapter or the power cord), the orange LED indicates the battery charging process stops flashing and becomes stable

-Turn the laptop, for about 1 minute or so, the battery seems to be loading (message of orange LED flashes do not and "clogged, load"). However, soon again the orange LED starts flashing and the message of nuisance comes once again to the top

    A number of things:
-the battery seems to be working well and load properly when the laptop is stop (in fact, until a few days back, the battery used to show 02:30 hours of time available on 100% charge level)
is there a problem with the operating system? no idea on that

can experts help me solve this problem? I really don't want to approach the Service because of the long distance involved.

    Hello Biren

Not sure if I can help you but I would like to give you some advice.

    (1) check if your BIOS is up to date. If Toshiba driver European page provides a newer version, then update the BIOS. In addition, set the default BIOS by pressing F9 and save modified pressing F10.
    (2) try to calibrate the battery. To calibrate the battery you completely discharge the battery and charge it again. Repeat 2-3 times in the line.
    (3) remove the battery and the AC adapter and press the power button / stop (30 sec long) and then connect the two parts and check if the LED begin to blink.

Finally, I think that the laptop needs to be tested using new, good battery to work. But if the issue still persists, then I guess that your motherboard might be affected.

  • Qosmio F55-Q502 - charging icon says: plugged in, not charging

I recently had my Qosmio F55-Q502 repaired by Toshiba.
Two issues have been addressed, and one is fixed.

However, the second attempted to decide without success.

When I try to play multimedia games such as call of duty IV, even if the system is completely loaded, a few minutes the system will begin flashing the "Backlight" and then when I see the loading icon, he says: "plugged in, not charging.»

This really worries me because I read online many similar questions, but none of the solutions seem to work.
Having to reboot every time that happens and your in the middle of a game, really STINKS!
I even had what is happening with SimCity4 which is an old game.

    Any suggestions on this good?
Did they replace the battery when it was sent to which seems to be what most needs to be done.

    Hello

If your Qosmio laptop was being repaired, I think that you should not discuss any issue on the forums, but put a pressure on the service and specify every single problem with your laptop.
Please do because the warranty is still valid and it is now time to clarify everything.

I am not an expert in hardware, but it sounds to me like some electronic power supply question but I can't say for sure. Speak with the service. Try to clarify this with them. Be nice, be cool and all will be ok.

  • Satellite A500 - plugged, but not charging

Hey guys, I hope someone can help me with this.

I bought a Satellite A500 about a year ago. Last night I decided it was time for an upgrade, so I looked at the new a500s. Put my current for sale online. Woke up this morning with a little problem.

When the power is NOT connected the laptop does NOT start at the top. When I connect the power, while the laptop is still off, the battery charging light lights up for about 10 seconds then turns off. When I boot on windows, it is said 34% remaining on battery, plugged, does not support. I tried every answer google gave me so far, I have even restored my laptop to default.

Please help me, as for now, my laptop is unsaleable and frankly quite useless.

    See you soon,.

  • Pavilion g7: Pavilion g7 "plugged in, not charging."

In general, I keep my laptop plugged into current alternative, whenever I use it and transport mode 'sleep' with the lid closed whenever I'm the take on a trip.  The laptop is 4 years old and the battery is not required to load as it used to, so it's going to go from 100% to 50% when it is dormant for a stay of 6 hours.  I just moved into a new State and left in mode 'sleep' in my laptop for more than 24 hours bag, which (arguably) took the battery up to 0%.  Now that I'm unpacking and save and running, the indicator in the tray system constantly readings "plugged in, not charging" with 8% of battery (but it was 9% yesterday).  However, the laptop turns off immediately every time that I unplug it from the power sector, even with the lid closed mode 'sleep'.  I tried several different outlets and a spare cable load but can not get the battery to start charging.  I know that the battery is old and will need to be replaced, but I suspect it might also be a software failure or sensor because the battery while he was in mode 'sleep' perhaps?  I tried a few other troubleshooting steps online (clean the contacts of the battery and reinstalling it, update drivers to the battery, remove the battery from the Device Manager and reboot) but nothing has fixed.  The laptop still works well on alternating current with the battery removed.  Any ideas to try before giving a shot a spare battery?

Thank you for joining the Forums of HP Support and welcome @jwenskovitch,

I read your post and I understand that you lose the battery while the laptop is in Sleep Mode. You said that your battery can't hold a charge.

Please make sure that there is nothing external, connected to the laptop (other than the AC adapter).

Computer battery life varies, depending on the power management settings, programs running on the computer, the brightness of the screen, the external devices connected to the computer, and other factors. To learn more about how to improve the performance of the battery, please follow the document provided in the hyperlink.

You have whatever it is connected to the laptop?

Have you tried to put the laptop on a power saving mode?

If your laptop battery does not hold a Charge, you can try to troubleshoot the battery to see if it needs to be replaced. Sometimes the battery may need to be re calibrated. There is a document called test and calibrate the battery. You can use the steps in this document to the status of the battery you have and see if there are any suggestions.

To the HP Support Assistant's help is ideal because you can use also HP battery check tool.

Here's the documentation of sleep and hibernation problems . It can help you find why your battery drains in Sleep Mode.

    2. make an update of the bios and chipset update

    restart the device

If this doesn't solve then drain the battery completely and charge the battery

  • dv8t "plugged in, not charging".

I have a HP Pavilion dv8t. In recent weeks, I noticed that the battery in the taskbar indicator shows is no longer a full charge. While it is plugged in, it will display the icon of little next to the battery, but if I mouse over the message is "plugged in, not charging." The sound level seem to fall slowly, when I first noticed the problem is 39% and now it's 27%. No doubt it is still supported to some extent since I used it for weeks, more than enough to drain the battery completely. I have 2 power supplies and the problem occurs at the same time. If I had to guess, I would say that the battery is going bad. It would be nice if I could confirm that it is really the question before you spend money on a battery. To put it otherwise, I definitely want to spend money on a battery if it does not solve the problem. So my questions are:

    1. How can I determine what is the cause of the problem without Exchange of parts?

    2. assuming that the problem is the battery, is there documentation for the replacement of the battery (HP provides a service manual for its customers, for example)?

    3. even if the problem is the battery, how can I determine which battery to buy?

EDIT: I have a dv8t-1200. The sticker also shows product WF681AV.

Thus, these last 2 tests produced some interesting results:

    1. the laptop works very well under the power with no battery pack.

    2. replace the battery seems to have solved the problem. The battery is now charging and the battery indicator is solid.

    So I guess that's a wrap.
