Tecra S10-11 a - frequent faults and long service life

Toshiba Tecra S10-11 has, PTSB3E-01900GG3
Purchase date: 14.08.2010.
Expiration date of the warranty: 12.08.2013

For 16 months, the computer has more than two months of service!
It is currently in service (exactly 505 days, 65 days in service. (Terrible!)

First rehabilitation 17/02/2011 the problem with the sound. Repairs took about 40 days (I don't have a computer for work replacement)
Second recovery 25/12/2011 the problem with button walk / stop. The computer is still in service (I don't have a replacement of the computer for work)!

The frequent failures with a very long period of repairs influence a lot on my work. In addition, I have to present and take the computer in Belgrade which is located about 220 km from the city where I work.

Please consider, Toshiba as a company with a good reputation, the complete replacement of my computer because I am a user in a company and I got high cost caused by failures.

Unusual sound that you indeed have to wait as long.
But I think that this does not apply to all Toshiba FSA.

A friend of mine had some problems with a mobile satellite. Don't know what the problem was, but the whole procedure took 6 days. The technicians were very useful.

I hope that someone will get in touch with you in order to solve this annoying problem.

  • Toshiba Satellite M60-154: what is the best way for a long service life of a battery?

    Hello Toshiba-users,

I bought the "Toshiba Satellite M60-154" but I want to use most of the time on the AC adapter.

I read the manual, but they say nothing about the battery life for people like me who will use the computer power adapter laptop most of the time.

I would like to know if:

    (1) it is best put the battery inside when I use the laptop on the power adapter for a long time (they say this is not good for the life of the battery when it is fully charged and when he is still in charge...)

    (2) it is best to take the battery when when I use the laptop on the power adapter for a long time and check the battery every week for example to see whether or not it is still loaded (they say it's good for the life of the battery when the battery is fresh off once a week)

Indeed, what should I do to make sure that the battery will have a long life, knowing that I always use the laptop on the power adapter instead.

    Thanks for the tips

  • Process of long service life cannot be invoked

    Hello

My version of LiveCycle server is 9.0.0.0. After I made a few changes to our existing process, this resulted in a serious problem: long service life process can be invoked. All processes in the long term on the server cannot be inovked correctly, not only on my request, but also on new applications created. Does anyone know how it happened?

I tried to change the properties of an activity LDAPService, then it went wrong. Regardless of the returning the process to return to the previous version, or restart LC Server, it won't work. After the invocation of the workspace, there is that no instance of process is recorded in the workbench and no process is followed in the workspace either.

Here are some results of the audit:

    1. short-term process works correctly on the server. It can be recorded successfully by workbench.

    2. all process/long service life Services are State "active" / "running" when checking them /AdminUI.

    3. He also works very well if archive application and install it on another server in LC.

Still have no idea how to fix this. Any help would be grateful, thank you.

  • Tecra S10 - 64 bit of Vista and Win7 64 bit driver question

    Hello

I own a Tecra S10 and using Vista 64-bit operating system.
Unfortunately Toshiba isn't supporting this version of the OS, because pilots proposed must be taken on different products that use the same hardware.

Is anyone know wether Toshiba will start sharing the drivers for Vista 64 bit soon and whats on Win7?

I think that Vista 64-bit drivers will run under Win7, but * when they officially released drivers for 64 bit Vista or Win7?

    Any info would be interesting.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello!

Normally it comes out drivers * after the release of the operating system. This means you have to wait a few months more I think
But you think contacting Toshiba? Guys, you should know better than us users here. If you write an email or call, it takes only a few minutes!

In addition, you should try the Vista 64 bit drivers. Most of them also works under Windows 7.
    And it s worth a try! ;)

    Good bye

  • How to ensure that the battery has a long service life?

    Hello!
I just bought a Toshiba Satellite A80 and I was wondering how can I make sure that my battery will have a long life. It is said that the battery is achieved if it is fully charged, and used the laptop to power grid. Does this mean that I have to take my battery while I'm doing this?
    Thanks for your help!

If you need some useful information on the battery and the other parts of your unit, you can visit the site Web of Toshiba.
    I found this site:

  • Tecra S10 - 123 and Linux Mandriva boot problem

I have a Tecra S10 - 123 for two months and wanted to install Mandriva on it (I have no experience with Linux...). I burn the Image on Cd image .iso file and changed the bios settings to boot from the CD-ROM. It works without problem, but Mandriva stops to boot from the Live Cd once the kernel is loaded.

    What can I do?

Maybe it's a SATA question, have you tried to set the SATA Mode in the BIOS to "COMPATIBILITY"?

Work the other flavors of Linux? Maybe Ubuntu will install properly.

  • Need driver disc to install Windows 7 on Tecra S10

    Hello

I have a Tecra S10 - 11I with Windows Vista and I buy the seven Windows Update but when I try to install it, a message told me to install the driver from the cd/dvd drive (it is a Teac DV w28s-rt) and can't find it, can someone give me the link to download it or show how I can install windows 7 on my pc

Thank you. (Excuse me for my English)

For disk drive optical feature you n t need to install an additional driver.
You can use your optical disc drive, the usual use of DVDs and CDs?

Can you maybe send a screenshot of this message?

As far as I know when you start the upgrade (upgrade disc put in ODD) you should see THE menu.

  • Long battery life longer?

How long will it take for Motorola out with long battery life? Even with the battery-saving widgets and e-mail settings, the battery life is not like the blackberry battery life. A word about a newer version of the battery?

I have absolutely no idea.  This is pure conjecture on my part... I think they'll come out with a very soon, as complaints of battery have been commonplace on this forum.  I see that you specifically ask about extended life batteries Motorola, and it's a good thing.  Good number of the first who begin to appear on Ebay and other sources will be almost Rocciamelone be manufactured according to lower standards specifications.  I have been burned several times that I care to admit by buying non - OEM batteries for cell phones and other electronic devices.  I also basically stumbled upon some good deals on batteries long service life which have been excellent according to market vendors.  I hope we get some good news soon.  Merry Christmas and happy new year - Dan

  • Re: Tecra S10 and S11 freeze randomly

We have several Tecra S10 and S11. Freezing randomly during the day. Some even twice within half an hour, others spread it throughout the day.

The Tecra is all Windows 7. Some have 64 bit, others a 32-bit installation. After installation of Windows 7, we have removed additional software we don't need, like McAfee, Toshiba goodies (Assist, Tempro, etc.), Ebay, etc. After that we activatie Office 2007 and Microsoft put updated laptops. So far so good.

However, after a week or two just work in Word causes the Tecra to freeze. Same ctrl + alt + delete does not work. The Tecra should be forced to turn off the power, press and hold the power button.

Everyone recognizes these "frozen moments". It's very annoying.

It is not easy to say why this is happening.
Always it is that Office is preinstalled on almost all laptops Toshiba so I did not thing your laptops can be somewhat different.

Maybe something else responsible for this?
Maybe are all connected to your business LAN and there is a problem.
Are connected external devices which can be responsible for this?
Maybe some internal software of the company is blocking something.

It is not easy to say what he can be.

Have you done tests in the past to see what can be the problem?

  • Tecra S10 - CAD and 3D software compatibility

    Hello
It seems that the graphics card in my Tecra S10 - A11 has problems with software like Autocad 2009 or Rhino 4. The card is a nVidia quatro NVS 150 M. Cursors in these programs are slow or flashing. Y at - it a solutiun known to this problem, because I found a lot of similar problems on various forums, but I didn't find any solution.

I never thought that a cell phone in this category would have had such problems. But if the GPU is really incapable of managing these programs at a level that I feel really disappointed.

    Hello

In your case, I would check if the graphics card driver can be improved and what Autocad 2009 support is recommended.

Possibly Autocad 2009 needs some version of driver?
Has been installed the latest BIOS? Check it!

    Hello

Usually the installation of VAP should help you get the buttons working again.
Value added package contains tools and utilities that are necessary for the functionality of the multimedia buttons

Please install the VAP, and then configure the keys still using the utility button Toshiba located in Toshiba Assist-> optimize

There you have to click on the button, and then you set some for some exe file button.
Single exe files are in C:\Programs\Toshiba\TBS

  • Tecra S10 starts in 8-10 min

I have a new Tecra S10 and a problem with a very long departure.

When I turn it on, after the "Microsoft Corporation" with the green bar (it takes about 40 seconds) the black screen comes there for appr. 4 6 min. During these long minutes approx. of the HARD disk LED flashes. once per second. Finally so I can see "wait" and the rest of the starting procedure. After you turn off when I start again in a few minutes (not more than about 10) the computer starts very fast (I think - normally) means in1, 5 min. If the break is longer the departure time is long yet.

Does anyone have any idea whats wrong?

I guess you have started your laptop for the first time and OS was not configured completely and ready for use.
After that several reboots of the preinstalled OS should be ready to use.

Beware also of Microsoft updates. By default it is set to automatic and when you're laptop computer online will starts to download all this and slow down performance and next reboot may take a lot of time again.

In my opinion nothing is wrong there.

  • Tecra S10 - problem upgrading to SSD Kingston

    Hello!
Tecra S10 - I am trying to upgrade HDD to Kingston SSD 128MD.

During the new installation of Windows 7-64 installer complains that there is no boot device valid to create the system partition, even if the disk is recognized. BIOS is later, I tried configuring IDE and AHCI.

Is there a problem of General compatibility with SSDS and the notebooks?
I noticed a similar problem with satellite A200.
    Thank you

  • Issues of update/upgrade of equipment for Tecra S10-183

    Hello

    TOSHIBA TECRA S10-183
    Serial number: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
    Model number: PTSB3E-0YR04KGR
    Code BTO: P8700/2G/160G/15.4WBT/DS2/L/M/B/W/3G
    Pre-installed software: Yes [R11382GR]
    Purchase date: 13/05/2011

I use above professional mobile phone use for CAD programming as well as for Office applications.
2 GB RAM (standard), I can increase up to 4 GB Kingston (ex aequo) on purchase.
With the 160 GB HARD drive, I had a lot at the beginning of the loss of speed.
So I leave a month later to a switch of OCZ Vertex 120 GB of a second
And lasted almost 9 months without problems.
Now, I don't have so much free space in my SDS. So I would like to
'Intel SSD 520 Series 240 GB 2.5 SATA III'
    Skip the leave.

My question would be, I would get this problem?
    (1) in theory, SATA3 work perfectly well this SSD 240 GB right?
In the manual, it is up to 120 GB SATA2 SSD in it. However, the 2009 manual. The information is very old. And at that time were not yet 240 GB free for end users of hard drives SSD SATA3.

    (2) is there any Windows Professional / Ultimate / Business 64 for 7 as this laptop?
Original, I have Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit. I wanted that my memory that expanded up to 8 GB. CAD program running on the 64-bit operating system much better.

    (3) is the card graphic and/or welded directly on my cell or can I leave replace it? It is a plug-in card?

    (4) can I switch to a processor / CPU? What size?

    (5) the Mobile UMTS and HSDPA / HSPAU / LTE is capable?

    (6) I still can't be on the Toshiba support site:
    http://de.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/innovation/generic/SUPPORT_PORTAL/
find when you enter the serial number or model number is not my laptop?

On a response, I would be very happy.

Sorry for the bad English. My language is German!

So I hope that someone can help me with my questions.

    With sincere friendships.

    > 1) in theory, SATA3 work perfectly well this SSD 240 GB right?
    > Manually, it is up to 120 GB SATA2 SSD in it. However, the 2009 manual. The information is very old. And at that time were not yet 240 GB free for end users of hard drives SSD SATA3.

The SATA controller is not limited in size, you can use 250 GB, 500 GB or more large hard disks. The same should be possible with SSD drives since the controller is the same.

(> 2) is there any Windows Professional / Ultimate / Business 64 for 7 as this laptop?
    > Original, I have Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit. I wanted that my memory that expanded up to 8 GB. CAD program running on the 64-bit operating system much better.

Don't know what you mean exactly, but if you want to installed Win 7 64 bit, then you can do without big problems the 64-bit drivers are available on the European driver Toshiba page.

(> 3) is the card graphic and/or welded directly on my cell or can I leave replace it? It is a plug-in card?
The laptop seems to be equipped with a NVIDIA Quadro NVS 150 M chip graphic. This is an external chip that is connected/soldered on the motherboard. But even if you can remove this chip, the upgrade is NOT possible.

    (> 4) can I switch to a processor / CPU? What size?
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/TSB9401AX0001R01.htm

Generally the CPU upgrade depends on the chipset of the motherboard.
You could upgrade the processor, if the chipset would support the new processor.
There are still questions about BIOS support, but I've read here in the forum that some people have been able to upgrade the new processor.

(> 5) the Mobile UMTS and HSDPA / HSPAU / LTE is capable?
Support for 3G modules appears to support the HSDPA standard

(> 6) I still can't get on the Toshiba support site:
    > find when you enter the serial number or model number is not my laptop?

Maybe it is not inserted into the database, but your Tecra S10-183 belongs to the series of PTSB3E that you can search other models belonging to the PTSB3E for details

    Hello

I bought a 1000MB HARD disk and build in on a TECRA S10-106.
The HARD drive was not identified.

Do you have an answer why?

    Thank you for the help

    Hello

He recognized the HARD drive in the BIOS?
If not, then possibly the BIOS can't handle this HARD drive because of the size
    Try a 500 GB or 750 GB 2.5 HDD
