TECRA S3 and OS support

Welcome!

I would like to share with you how not flexible is Toshiba Tecra S3. My problems:
1. very low compatibility of utilities Toshiba for Windows 2003 - now don't save uilities which cannot install on Windows 2003 mobile extensions no brightness toshiba functions available.
2. no software disk for Windows 2000 HARD shock protection.
3. no software support email contact I can't write any complaints about drivers - only service supported hardware
4.I supposed to serve this "business machine" portable machine in developing countries - but there is a pilot very low support for other platforms Windows than Windows XP. Laptops are not only office or media players text editors, but has power of desktop PC so please improve OS support in drivers Toshiba.
5. manufacturers like Marvel or Intel support their chipsets for Windows 2003 with no problems.

Hello

Well, one of my friends has a Tecra S3 and he is very satisfied with this unit.
As far as I know, this device was shipped with Windows XP and all the drivers are available for this device. Drivers Toshiba designed for common OS as W2k, XP.
If you want to use specific tools and utilities, so you have to use this OS. It of a just done. Mobile computer technology is very different and delicate as a desktop PC. Of course, you can use another OS, but if you can't wait to use special tools.

For example: mobile video graphics technology is not the same! It of very difficult to get the best graphics performance without high temperatures and overheating problems. In this case the graphics driver Toshiba has an overheating protection. NVIDIA or another s manufacturer drivers doesn t have that option because they designed the drivers for desktop PC not for laptops.

Toshiba sells many different laptops with different hardware compatibility models. So if you are not able to find the drivers for this laptop, then you should try check the drivers for the other phones with the same hardware devices.

  • Tecra A4 and Win7 - problems with PCMCIA card driver

I've recently updated my old laptop Tecra A4 - PTA42E - (in great condition however) for Windows 7 and it is now in the best shape ever except for the PCMCIA card. In fact, to have Windows 7 installed I had to rename the pcmcia.sys and pcmcia.inf files during the installation (to .old or .bak) otherwise the new operating system would not start. The same problem has been experienced by many other users Tecra A4 and the solution is available in a number of forums.

Although I use no more than the PCMCIA card slot, I want to fix this for a reason: If, in the future, I need to re - install Windows 7 for some reason any on this laptop, I have to repeat the same process - rename the pcmcia.sys and pcmcia.inf during installation, in addition, the new operating system does not start.

I do not understand that the original drivers from the card slot (Texas Instruments PCI-xx21/xx11 CardBus Controller with UltraMedia) are not compatible with Windows 7, but it is there any updated driver that works for windows 7? And if there's a how can I replace the old drivers in my system so that in the event of re - install Windows 7 I will not have to go through the same process? TI site is no help, and Toshiba does not all drivers to download.

Last but not least, if there is a driver available, I used the card slot for 2 ports USB 2 or 3 additional which are really necessary.

Thanks to the forum, in advance

    Hello

The pcmcia.sys and pcmcia.inf files are part of the Windows System.
This driver isn't provided by laptop manufacturer, but it is a Microsoft internal driver.

You mentioned that the pilots of the original card slot Texas Instruments PCI-xx21/xx11 CardBus Controller with UltraMedia) are not compatible with Windows 7.

To my knowledge, this driver does control not the PCMCIA location but this driver controls the card reader that supports the MMC card, SD card, card xd picture card, SM card, Memory Stick and Memory Stick Pro.

However, the Tecra A4 is very old model of laptop. The driver will not be updated for this camera and it looks like Windows 7 drivers never had to be released the driver Toshiba UE

  • Tecra M9 and compitable motherboards

    Good day to all
My Toshiba laptop Tecra M9 PTM91E - 12R features of a faulty video card.
I replaced this card many times, but it's always get bad after a while.
My repair shop of my recommended to replace its motherboard in order to get a solution permanent.

I'm not sure if I am looking for motherboards Compitable with my product

Can someone tell me please with PART NUMBERS of SPECIFICATIONS AND motherboards that I can buy?

Thanks in advance for your support

    > Any can advise me please with PART NUMBERS, specifications AND motherboards that I can buy?
Hmmmm... It is not as easy as you think. Defective parts will be exchanged on mobile units with only identical hardware components. It's a completely different situation than on desktop systems.

You can visit the nearest Toshiba service provider and ask for help, but you will see that they will not be able to help you.
Fact is that Tecra M9 was offered with two hardware platforms. PTM90E and your PTM91E.

In the end, I must say it's really strange that you have an ongoing problem with GPU defective. When everything is changed on professional way and you take care of the machine and don't forget laptop is cooled properly I don t see the reason why it should be defective over and over again.

For 3 years I have Tecra A11 and use almost every day for my small business and there is no problem at all. OK I use for typical every day activities such as web or MS Office and not for games or other graphics intensive applications.

Try to contact Toshiba service provider in your country and ask for advice. They should have access to the material database of Toshiba and maybe they have good advice for you.

    If possible, send feedback.

  • Difference between Tecra M10 and Tecra A10

    Dear forum
    The above says everything really.

I see the two look identical, but one is smaller. These two models are different in other ways please.

    Hello

    Where did you come from?
There are many models Tecra A7 but each model has been designed for a country or a region

You can visit the Toshiba home page and check the area of product-> notebooks-> Tecra

There you should find different units of Tecra A7 and the features supported.
But as far as I know, that Tecra A7 with number PTA71C should support the fingerprint reader.

By the way every mobile merchant who sells the Tecra A7 should provide or offers the right information on the details of the laptop

  • Tecra M7 and Multidock question

    Hey all,.

I am a professional designer and have always been an incredible supporter of similar to Wacom Cintiq graphics tablets. I have one of these wonderful machines in my office, but as I work for long periods, I thought that it was worth investing in something on a smaller scale that could do the same thing.

I found brilliant Toshiba M7, and as it has decent graphics card memory and a good resolution (1400 x 900 on M7 vs 1600 x 1200 on Cintiq), I decided it was the machine for me.

The problem came once I realize actually what actually makes the Cintiq so good - it is articulated support on which is located the monitor - it is tilting, and can be rotated almost 360 degrees, so that he can shoot from any angle.

So now I want something similar for my M7, but I can't find anything! I saw the 2 multi-dock, but which is compatible with the Tecra M4 (which I believe is a machine of lower quality, right?), and I was up at present unable to actually find a stand universal which works the way I need.

Help! Anyone know what it was that way for the M7, or in any way I can 'fit' the multi-station to host 2 to work with the M7? Is there a multi-welcomed 2 planned for the M7 station? If this is not the case, really will feel the effects if I downgrade to a M4, so I can have this facility?

Thanks in advance for any info!

    CR.

    Hello

Toshiba options & Accessories sites Web provides useful information on the compatible parts.
    Have you checked this page?

PS: I didn t find info on the multi-station to host 2 but I guess that soothing as it could exist also for the Tecra M7 because it supports a host slot down.

  • Tecra R10 and Windows 7

Tomorrow, I'll get a Tecra with the following specifications:

    Tecra R10 - 14 d
Type: Processador Intel® Core 2 com tecnologia vPro AP9400, ligacao of rede e Intel® GS45 Express Intel® WiFi Link 5100
    Watch speed: 2.40 GHz
    FSB: 1066 MHz
    level 2: 6 MB cache
OS: Windows Vista® Business 32 - bit Edition Genuino (pre-wont, recovering HARD disk Toshiba)

    http://PT.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/innovation/product/Tecra-R10-14d/1071135/toshibaShop/false

Thus, it comes with W_Vista. Can I just update it W_7 or not? Do I need a driver or something to do the update?

    Very appreciated for any response.

    Best
    Naim

When you receive your laptop, as a first step please installation of recovery discs using the preinstalled Toshiba Recovery Disk Creator.
With other words: start preinstalled Vista and DO NOT install Win7 version clean or something because you lose the ability to create recovery discs. These discs you can use in the future if you want to have once again the factory settings.

    Back to your question:
Tecra R10 is fully supported for Win7 and you have two options. You can do Win7 upgrade using the Toshiba upgrade kit, or you can install install Win7 clean and clean using the facilities of Microsoft disc. If you take decision clean OS install all drivers, tools and utilities that you can find on Toshiba page under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com for assistance

To be honest I prefer the new installation of the OS.

  • No sound with Tecra A9 and Windows 7

    Hello

I just installed Windows 7 on my Tecra A9 and now: no sound. I ' v installed all the latest drivers but nothing to do: no sound.
Does anyone have the same problem? And especially have solved?

    Thanks for your help.

PS: The mute off the coast of the working tools doesn't work with Tecra A9 (is there an update?)

    Hello

    > I've tried the mute off tool, but it is not compatible with Tecra A9
You need to install the VAP (Toshiba Value Package utility added) before using this tool!

    Check again!

  • Tecra M9 and M10 wheel Volume does not not under Vista

    Hello

I hope that someone can help me, I'm Vista using Microsoft Deployment Workbench deployment for Tecra M9 and M10 material and the volume knob will not work. I added the drivers of Toshiba in Deployment Workbench, while they are presented the machines via Plug n Play, volume button do not work. I also deleted the drivers of Deployment Workbench and installed the drivers manually on the machines, this installs fine, but volume knob will not work. I have two development servers, Win Server 2003 and Win Server 2008, the two do not run successfully the pilot slots.

If I deploy a standard Win Vista Enterrprise 32 bit OS of DVD hardware, with any driver when it is installed, the volume wheel works. I can then manually install the audio driver and the volume button still works. But if I deploy the same exact DVD based OS of Deployment Workbench, the volume knob does not work?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, as this is doing my head and holding up the deployment of the new image.

    Thank you
    Paul

Maybe you are trying to install the driver Audio of M9 M10 or vice versa?

You install the driver Chipset Intel and value-added package first? (this is important)

  • Re: Tecra S10 and S11 freeze randomly

We have several Tecra S10 and S11. Freezing randomly during the day. Some even twice within half an hour, others spread it throughout the day.

The Tecra is all Windows 7. Some have 64 bit, others a 32-bit installation. After installation of Windows 7, we have removed additional software we don't need, like McAfee, Toshiba goodies (Assist, Tempro, etc.), Ebay, etc. After that we activatie Office 2007 and Microsoft put updated laptops. So far so good.

However, after a week or two just work in Word causes the Tecra to freeze. Same ctrl + alt + delete does not work. The Tecra should be forced to turn off the power, press and hold the power button.

Everyone recognizes these "frozen moments". It's very annoying.

It is not easy to say why this is happening.
Always it is that Office is preinstalled on almost all laptops Toshiba so I did not thing your laptops can be somewhat different.

Maybe something else responsible for this?
Maybe are all connected to your business LAN and there is a problem.
Are connected external devices which can be responsible for this?
Maybe some internal software of the company is blocking something.

It is not easy to say what he can be.

Have you done tests in the past to see what can be the problem?

  • Problem starting with the Tecra A8 and A9 models

We have about 20 or more, A8 and A9 Tecra notebooks and each has shown signs of the same problem again. If rebotting and netwrok cable is attached, so they will not start. Remove the cable and it is a normal startup.
The A8 has a motherboard replacement (problem existed before the replacement) and is still there now after the replacement. The MB is replaced mainly because the sound card was dead. All machines are running XP Pro OS. The A9 is a novelty. Would be - this driver issue or - this one of my favorite - an update from MS that has caused problems.

    > If reboot and the cable network is connected, then they will not start. Remove the cable and it is a normal startup.

    Hmm that's strange.
However, I recommend that you check the BIOS settings, please ensure that LAN is not set as first boot device.
Also check if the BIOS has been updated to the State

Sorry, but this is really rare and you should try universal workaround solutions that could help resolve this problem.

  • Tecra a5 and beeps...

    Hello

I have several Tecra A5 and one of them started to beep when turned on. It emits 3 beeps, and then a break, then 4 times, then pause and finally another 3 times. I know these mean something, but have sought a solution and high and low.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    See you soon

    Hello

I'm curious to know how the machine works, so that in this case and thereafter? Normal?
Normally, this would indicate a serious problem with the hardware and also stop the machine to work at all.

Check that you have installed RAM additional - If Yes, please remove it and reuse the machne.
In the end, you might have to get in touch with an ASP.

  • Tecra 8200 and Win Xp

    Hello

I just installed WinXp on my Tecra, because I was not able to use an external USB HARD drive. So far so good
but now, I have some problems with my wireless card und the notebokk tells me every time you start, I need "Toshiba common Module" for my select bay.
Someone at - he of the experience with a Tecra 8220 and WinXP.
    Thanks for your help.

    Blunma

Sorry for my writing is not very well English, my normally preferred language is German. So long.

Some information more than my Tecra 8200:
    -PIII 850
    -384 MB of Ram
-Windows XP SP1 (I don't have confidence in SP2 so far.)
-Installation of WinXP was an update on Windows 2000 SP4

    Hi Mario

I guess you need the common Modules. It is a special Toshiba driver you have to install first.
This driver, you can find on the delivered tools & utility CD or on the official website of Toshiba. Note: There are different drivers for Xp or Win2000.

    Good bye

  • HP and HP Support Assistant update

Is it necessary to have and use the updated HP and HP Support Assistant?  HP Support Assistant does not have everything HP Update done more more? It seems that HP Support Assistant was created to replace HP Update.

    Hello:

    I agree with you.

The support assistant is a program that includes the search for updates and other features such as air upward, etc..

I see no need for both (in fact, I see no need of either).

I mean this... I would like to change the default value of the assistant to support the definition and automatically download and install updates. I read where this thing was running updates the BIOS in the background while people were working on their PC with antivirus running programs, etc., than to have bad things happen.

If you like the support Wizard, my recommendation is to change the setting to warn and let me choose which updates to install - or what is the closest option to the default.
