  There was no error message: the device has been recognized (listed) by the USB controller and the Device Manager, but not by the management of the disks - so I couldn't access.

  I managed to fix the problem after:

  -J' scanned the computer (DELL Inspiron) with the Safety Scanner
  -J' completely uninstalled all the software associated with an external hard drive
  -J' uninstalled the USB controllers
  -reboot the system
  -reconnected the external HD
  -After gaining access to the drive, I installed the dedicated software

  I have a weird question on my Mac Mini. I have two Seagate to 8 external drives connected via USB to my Mac Mini (mid-2011 with Maverics). The discs worked well, but suddenly one of them will not be recognized by the Mac Mini.

  I connected the hard drive of my MacBook Pro and an old PC and it works fine and all files are available, but for some reason, my Mac Mini will have nothing to do with her anymore.

  It does not appear in the finder or disk utility. I unplugged the hard drive for hours and then tried to plug it back without a bit of luck. I restarted the Mac Mini on several occasions. I also tried to connect it to all the USB ports on the Mac Mini. When I connect it to the USB ports, there is no whisper sound indicating that it has started working. However, no sign of it on the Mac Mini.

  It's like the Mac Mini has decided to ignore the external hard drive, no matter what I do. Seeing this works on other devices, I'm fairly certain that the problem lies in the Mac Mini.

  I'm no expert, so any help will be very valuable for me. And if you are kind to help, please explain it to me like I'm 8 or 93 years old.

  Well one day I had the prototype 2 for my Xbox I played it for a while then I turned it off to get something to eat and when I turned it back on this subject came up with sign in screen with no profile and when I went to the storage screen I had no storage devices listed. I took the hard drive of the xbox and it plugged into sata port in my Manager PC shows and peripheral, the hard drive is connected and a mod tool / HDD called horizon Explorer detects all my data just the way which she was left and I tried my step dads Xbox and it does not work that I can have help?

  I bought a Terrabite Cavalry USB Mass Storage 1 unit some time around January 2009. We used it to back up my computers portable wife and daughters without any problems (it was Windows XP a Windows Vista). Shortly after, we have tried to back up my desktop computer, also running Windows Vista, but my computer does not recognize the drive into any USB port. After this attempt, we get is more willing to work on any computer. We contacted the cavalry and they replaced the drive, but we lost a lot of data since most of the files saved on my wife and daughter desktops have been deleted to clean up their hard drives.
  When I received the spare drive I backed up my computer with no problems.
   
  We moved from NC to PA in August of last year and had packed the new car. Recently, we unpacked and used to transfer ALL the photos of my wife, numbering several hundred, again with no problems. In addition, she has saved his computer using the Vista utility. Today, I made the horrible mistake of trying to back up my computer using the same player. And this issue seems to happen only after using his computer to mine, not the other way around because I had done a backup on thise drive when I got last year and she just did a new now on his own.
  I wrote to the Cavalry, but received no response. They said the last time that they aren't able to recover lost data, and it is said that all over their site.
  The external drive is a cavalry model # CAXP3701PA.
  Someone please help! Pictures of our last five years (including photos of my wife of his precious Golden Retriever from puppy to now) are lost if we cannot solve this problem. It seems that the player works well, but something corrupting of the software driver. We tried again to my wife's computer o and it begins with "Download driver software for device" but then what I described before using it.
  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  Hello

  Put the disc in a real store of the computer (not the leeks and the glances at a Best Buy or other stores)
  and they can remove the drive from the case and put it in another computer to back up data
  to other media. Of course this cancels any warranty and may not work if the drive has probably
  in fact failed. Data can often be recovered since a failed drive while it's expensive.

  (The drive could be put in either your PC as a 2nd drive).

Before I tried to repair CDs and DVDs, my directory showed an A/floppy disk, because it seemed weird, yet benign, I don't think many, until my BIOS could not find my hard drive. It offers my USB drives and there is no such thing as a floppy drive to boot from. Help?

  If the drive is not detected in the bios, and I guess you actually mean the bios screen, then the drive has failed or the motherboard connections has a problem.

  Once in the bios screen try to reset for fail safe defaults, reboot, see if that makes a difference for the drive detected in bios

  I added an OCZ (Toshiba) TR150 960 GB disk SATA space. Obtained the correct material from Bios HP (connector and cradle) does not seem to recognize it. Is not recognized by the Disk Manager.  Update bios to F.22. tried everything I could think of without success. Hard reset, looked in the bios to see if there was a setting of the drive (no) tried to turn off the power of security starting as suggested in another thread on the same topic. Laptop has a nvme 256 GB disc which works fine I just want more space. Never had this problem with my desktop PC!

  It's real embarrassing... I discovered that I had hit the cable that goes into the ZIF connector. Maybe someone else can learn from my mistake.  Thanks for your help!

• Pavilion a6544f does not recognize SATA hard drive

  I'm running Vista on this machine and added a second internal hard drive: a WD Caviar 1 TB GB. I connected the SATA cable to the SATA connector to blue color on the motherboard (Benicia-GL8E) and had to get a 4 pin to SATA power plug on the power cable.

  For some reason the drive does not appear in my computer. I double checked connections and seem not to be tight. I installed WD Data Lifeguard (supplied with the HD) and he can't seem to mfind player either.

  Any suggestions?

  In fact, I solved the situation by updating the BIOS on the HP support site. I've updated everything I could - firmware and everything - wheile I was there, and then the disc was recognized. Problem solved! Thanks for the suggestions.

• Desktop HP Pavilion a420n of does not recognize SATA hard drive

  I installed a SATA hard drive as a second hard drive in my office in a420n Paviion and it is not recognized by the computer. I don't belong in the BIOS to enable the SATA drives, only IDE drives. (The main hard drive is IDE). I just upgraded to firmware BIOS Revision 3.08 (11/2004, which is the last on the HP website) and there is still no place to enable SATA only drives in the BIOS screen.

  Of course, the drive may not be detected in Windows XP either.

  I saw an ad on the web about SATA drives that need drivers to work with the a420n, but I don't know if it's true. A man speaks by pressing the F6 key while rebooting, so you can load the driver at the time, but by pressing F6 does nothing to interrupt the normal boot on my machine process.

  Can anyone help?

  If the BIOS does not info on the drive connected, then nothing else does.  It could be that this controller simply does not work.  On a Board that old, is probably not an effort worth trying a material difficulty.

  Using an external enclosure for the drive, it is probably the best bet.
