Temperature of ThinkPad T520

What is the temperature range of security for the T520 (or similar/all laptops?) I received my a week ago and remember all the components to idle at 100Fish and going about 120F under load, which I was happy with. Since then, the only thing demanding by the calculation I did with it is play Stalker SoC for about two hours, and the physically demanding thing I've done is walk a few miles with it in my backpack (also new, so I hope not dusty). However, my temperatures have strengthened. [IMG] http://k.min.us/icAVfKUr9.PNG [line] Here's my time with firefox, xchat, speccy and application of wow running update. Why this phenomenon happens, these temperatures are safe, they are normal and what should I do to maintain the health of my laptop? Thank you!

Thanks for the reply! Well, I checked my power plan and it is 3/4 of the way to maximum performance. I moved it to the middle. I don't know how to check the CPU frequency, though.

Ed: start wow updater after moving the slider towards the middle and my temperature is much lower. This marking as answer

  • Blocking of the Lenovo Thinkpad T520 disc problem

    Hello friends of Lenovo!

I've got ThinkPad T520 and I really like it, but there is no question that makes me worried about the security of the data. There is a moment when the hard drive becomes hang for about a minute. This is the rate, usually happens when you try to connect to Windows 7... interface is still active, but hand disk is hang (green led is always on), it seems that everything is blocked because of the disc, but looks like it's doing nothing during that time. There are also some rare cases, when happens when I do work on it.

I don't know what the reason for this problem. I guess it could be either:

    (a) internal (maybe physical) defects in HDD OR

    (b) there are some services in Windows 7 that allows to hang so long (my Windows directory is about 17 GB! He was already fat after the installation, I'm the second user of this computer, I bought it a month ago, still 2 years of guarantee).

The hard drive is C300-MTFDBAK128MAG (SSD). You have a similar experience with this computer / hard disk?

I called support in Poland call center today and they suggested to:

    (1) execute and test Windows 7 mode 'diagnostic' (msconfig) OR

    (2) the hard drive firmware update OR

    (3) send the computer to service center

Obviously I don't want to waste time, because I use this computer for work. Do you know what could be the problem and what to do better to fix?

    Thank you very much!

It's weird... The C300 should yield much more information?

  • Used Thinkpad T520 - should I buy?

    Hello

I intend to buy a used laptop (since I can't really afford a new, at least not a good). I found a good deal on ebay on a used Thinkpad T520, that is still under warranty by Lenovo. I want to buy it, but when I google a bit on this model, I came across some problems on a particular batch of motherboards for T420, T520, that have been produced by the end of 2011 (see here for example).

This phone especially I want to buy was manufactured on June 2012, so, in theory, it should be safe. But I don't want to spend my money without being sure, so I thought I should ask you first (before buy you) and make sure that this batch of T520s that have been build on June 2012 are good.

As far as I KNOW, he didn't y no defect known widespread with the T520 motherboard.

  • Strobe effect of the ThinkPad T520 screen

I have a ThinkPad T520 with installed Optimus graphics. I noticed that the screen has a sort of strobe effect, maybe the strobe effect isn't the best word, but basically what it does is you can see lines of light moving toward the bottom of the screen very quickly. It is most visible on the blue background of "Microsoft" by default.

I tried to reinstall my graphic drivers, Optimus disabling and turning the refresh rate to 60 Hz, not good.

After further tests, it seems to be more noticeable in the middle to low light. At full intensity, you don't notice the issue more.

I looked around online, something about the inverter may be bad? The guarantee would cover this?

Edit: Called support, they will replace the LCD unit.

  • ThinkPad T520 RAM stuck at 1333 clock speed?

    Hi, I can't understand why on my T520, after the upgrade to 8 GB / 1333 Mhz to 16 GB / 1600 Mhz Crucial RAM, Speccy/CPU-Z always indicates they run to ~ 660 Mhz x 2 = ~ 1330?

    My specs are:

    For my T520 (4239-CTO) I have...

Processor: Intel Core i7-2860QM 2.5 Ghz

    RAM: Crucial 16 GB (8 x 2 GB) DDR3-1600

GPU: Intel HD 3000 / NVIDIA QUADRO NVS 4200 M

    OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x 64 SP1 (w/latest updates)

After searching on Google for a while and look around here, I read nothing that says I shouldn't be able to run at 1600 Mhz, especially given my processor supports officially this speed. Another post on this topic (not for the T520 specifically) mentioned that i7 contain the controller memory within itself. So... I am upset about the software settings in the BIOS or in my operating system?

    Any help is appreciated!

2860QM supports the types of memory DDR3-1066/1333/1600, according to Intel. As for the limitation of speed in t520, I guess it is because the laptop t520 BIOS/EC. Analogues of x 220 in the BIOS v.1.29 the same speed of RAM limit has been introduced (x 220 support Intel 2nd generation SB CPU too).

So, if you want a chance for support for 1600 mhz RAM compare version date x 220 v.1.29 of BIOS with the t520 BIOS updates and downgrade the version of the BIOS of your laptop.

  • upgrading ThinkPad t520 4240-4GG wwan

last month, I bought this model without wwan card. Is it possible to install an Ericssonf5521gw wwan card in the mini pci express slot (also I see sim instead of the battery slot) is it possible to get wwan in this model?

  • T520 RX LED always on andTX

My ThinkPad T520, connected to the Internet through the Intel 6300 wireless card. Indicators for the Ethernet RJ45 port are still regularly informed. I suspect that they shouldn't be. Ideas?

Sorry for the delay in responding. For some reason I try to solve in one minute I don't get notifications of replies. Just fixed it. My mistake.

In any case, disabling the adapter did not help, but he reactivation and then turn off all the Wake on Lan and Magic Packet options solved the problem. LEDS are off and wireless connectivity is solid as a rock.

This is probably a driver issue. I'm guessing that so few use Wake-On-Lan that nobody noticed. I use downloaded Intel drivers directly from Intel because they came with everything else when I upgraded my setup WiDi. I had better luck with drivers Intel WiDi, then with the Lenovo drivers. The Magic Packet stuff was probably on default.

In any case, I'll consider this resolved. Thank you from me in the Device Manager.

  • Lenovo ThinkPad won't start

Hello, I'm having a problem with my Lenovo ThinkPad T520 running Windows 7 Professional 64 - Bit. It has a processor Intel Core i5 vPro 4 GB of RAM and a 500 GB HARD drive. It worked fine up until this point. Here is what happened.  It started when I was surfing the web tonight and it froze. I could not click on the 'X' button, use Alt + F4 or Ctrl + Alt + Delete. So I decided for a difficult start. I pressed the power button until it stopped. When I start again, it froze on the Windows splash screen. I waited for about five to ten minutes and started hard again. This time he asked me which option to start, I wanted to use. Start Windows normally or something like return on error. I tried the error recovery option but it was without result. I started again and it froze again. She is still ongoing now. Need help, tell me what I need to do. I hope it has nothing to do with the material because the PC belongs to my work. >_

Regardless of the fact that he belongs to my work, I am a system administrator.

You are a system administrator of employment in question of title?  If so, you must solve the problem.  :-)  Or you are just an administrator on the system in question?  Having administrative rights does not make you a sysadmin by title.  * smile *.

No offense meant, but the wording of your question was more like an end user explaining what a system administrator explaining.

You can start safe mode?  If so - how does it work?  You can start using the safe mode with networking?  If so - how it works in this mode?

So you're saying that nothing has changed between her works and does not other than gel?  No updates, no new hardware or software installed, etc.?

Have you tried to use the system restore to go back to a point before the system had problems?

Can you use a Ubuntu boot CD and run it from the CD player to see if the machine starts like that and be usable?

You have the media/method of system recovery in mind and you have a backup of the data, you might need the machine (or a method in place, if you are a system administrator, in order to safeguard a complete system so that you can extract data from such backup after a recovery?)

  • Lenovo audio t520 "pop".

Hello, my lenovo thinkpad t520 had no audio signal for awhile now.  Whenever there should be a sound played there is a sound burst.  I reinstalled the driver (http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds014918) and I checked the "Find and fix audio playback problems" in windows 7.  What should I try?  It seems like it might be a hardware problem of my research on Google (http://forum.notebookreview.com/lenovo/679517-no-sound-t520.html).  Any help appreciated

    Hello

Welcome to the Microsoft Community Forum.

According to the description of the problem, I can understand that you have some question, receive sounds on your laptop. Don't worry, we'll guide you to get the problem resolved.

-What was the result after running the audio Troubleshooter?

I suggest you follow the below mentioned method and check if it solves the problem.

    Method

I suggest plugging your headphones listening or ear phone and check if you are able to receive sound, since when you plug your phone headset or ear, what would the default speaker phone headset/ear rather with built in speaker, by doing this we will meet is a speaker, pilot or a sound card problem.

If you are able to receive sound in head phone or ear phone, then you might need to call the manufacturer and get the speaker replaced.

I suggest you post your questions on the forum of Lenovo

  • If I install Thunderbird on my MAC it will resemble the Thunderbird on my Windows 7 laptop?

I have Thunderbird running on my ThinkPad T520 running Windows 7. I also have a MAC running OS/S 10.9. If I install Thunderbird for MAC on my MACBOOK, will it look the same as Thunderbird running on the ThinkPad running Windows 7?

No, it will look like a MAC app. The menu will be on. On windows 7, it is turned off.

The basic principles will not change, but some of these menu options will be placed where use of MAC OS x would be expected to find, not where they are in Windows http://kb.mozillazine.org/Menu_differences_in_Windows, _Linux, _and_Mac

  • Optical drive Lenovo Z51-70 is a dummy

I recently bought a Lenovo Z51-70 and discovered later that the optical drive is a mannequin. This information was not in the technical specifications, before I bought the computer, but nevertheless, my question is:

Is it possible to install a real optical drive instead? Is there only certain types of optical drives, that I can install on my laptop?

    Thanks in advance.

If the OEM does not list a device or port you can imagine so is NOT included or integrated. Options that you can add are not specifically mentioned in the preview or short then call spec that are in any way vague. At least there is a place to add it to the internal. I hate the system where there must be an external device. EG if HDMI is not mentioned then it's not a! You might think every system would have one, but the flagship of Thinkpad T520 did not have and was not mentioned. We must therefore really check especially when buying online as you can not see a lot of things.

  • Audio in the headphones, speakers Dead works

ThinkPad T520. Win 10 Pro. After a reboot directly after the 10586.3 update, I lost audio to the speakers. Audio in the headphones is very good. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Well, all uninstall connected to the sound system and re - install has nothing. Then, in the middle of all the frustration, the update of 1511 for X 64 systems was pushed. After that the installation and reboot, to his return. Heard as soon as the desktop appeared. Obviously some kind of flaw in the previous upgrade ruined something and the update of 1511 repaired. Microsoft mysteries continue. In any case, done deal.
