Test machine

Hi all:

I am building a computer powerful enough to run the nested vspherer hosts and many virtual machines for testing and learning purpose. I would be grateful if you can send your suggestions for the creation of such a computer for example what type of processor, memory, motherboard, graphics card and hard drive.

Best regards.

Here's my setup I use to run nested ESX 4.0 on physical ESX 4.0 hosts guests. I can tell you that it's slow and the nested ESX 4.0 host must be rebooted every week (as well as the virtual machines running on ESX 4.0 hosts nested). I run the nested ESX 4.0 host on local hard disks, and then run the virtual machines running on ESX 4.0 hosts nested to an OpenFiler iSCSI connection - I could never host ESX 4.0 nested runs successfully an OpenFiler iSCSI connection, but they don't run, albeit slowly, to a local hard disk. You would need much better disk storage performance that I have in this configuration (better local or better iSCSI or FC) in order to make a nested ESX 4.0 installation usable for anything other than very light chores. I use nested ESX 4.0 hosts for rapid test of something - more than one use as a disposable ESX 4.0 use an ESX 4.0 Server standing.

You can also watch run your nested ESX 4.0 hosts under VMware Workstation 7.0 release candidate.

    Hello

I would like to automate my test using TS environment and the BT.

My goal is to have one machine with the development of TS (Inc. LV) for construction of test software that is compiled in one .exe file to run on the tested machine that does not have TS or LV

Can I use the software for this task?

It is for the main development computer:

    779601 35

NEITHER Developer Suite, English, include 3 years SSP

    1

    779602 35

NEITHER Developer Suite Automated Test Option, include 3 years SSP

It is for the machines to run the tests on:

777774-3505 NI TestStand Base Deployment Engine License 5 unit Bundle

I would like to have an option to monitor the performance of the tests on each machine and if necessary to perform debugging on the tested machine operations.

If the package above will provide this capability so where can I find the documentation to create .exe files to run on test computers?

If not, what software will provide this capability?

    Thank you

    His Lev

    Lev,

These are the correct packages for TS development and deployment.  The only thing is that you have little debugging with the deployment license features.  If you want to debug, so instead of the deployment license they have licensed TestStand Debug.

    More about licenses: http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/B4B7C4ADB9B21B3F86256D360061891F

One thing you should realize is that TestStand creates no executables.  Because TS is essentially a scripting language, you deploy the raw files.  These raw files feeding the TestStand engine and execute the steps in order.

TestStand comes with 10 different (fully customizable) User Interfaces.  What are executables and run above the TestStand engine.  They allow you to run your sequence files (mostly scripts).  You will only need to use 1 of them.  The User Interface is so technically the executable for a deployment machine.

  • Test product with USB Port

    Hello world

I'm working on a project that requires testing in the production environment.

These products have USB Port, and the only way that we can talk to the product is via the USB Port.

The USB port inside the unit under test uses a USB to Serial Converter of FTDI chip.

The problem is that every time when a new branch produced on the tester, windows detects it and takes its time to install the drivers, which leads to a long cycle time. Once the drivers are installed, configure the FTDI chip for the description of the product!

After you have configured the FTDI chip, we configure the microcontroller on the product speaks through the FTDI chip.

Is there another way this communication could be achieved, I mean using any other platform shipped, or if some how the process can be accelerated on windows?

    Any ideas would be appreciated.

    Kind regards

Try to add a Windows registry entry:

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\UsbFlags]

    "IgnoreHWSerNum04036001" = hex: 01

0403 6001 and corresponding to the ID of the seller (hex) corresponds to the product ID (hex)

I used this hack successfully on test machines that go to USB FTDI serial front controller.

    Edit:

As a side note, if the device is plugged into a different port, Windows will "load drivers" and give it a new COM port.  Take care, he still has the same physical connections and verify the port assignment after replacing the USB hubs, etc. of power failures.

  • OR MAX see GPIB controller/board of Directors, but crashes on test/Scan troubleshooting

    Hello

I have a new PC (Win7 64 bit) with a new GPIB PCI - E card and NI-VISA 14.0 (later). I can't get the map to 'do' something - he's not troubleshooting auto test, or search for instruments, and the ibfind in an interactive control command does nothing (they are all "don't hang up" no error reported). What is happening with two identical machines, each with the PCI-E card. My 6 monts test machine there is works very well, but it is 32 bit and has a different chipset/firmware of the provider (which was not planned, we ordered the same model, but the seller seems to think that it's little, they kept the model the same number).

Any ideas on what to do? I demoted NI-VISA a couple of times already, and Windows reports gladly driver card / work properly. GPIB options all seem normal in case of default (GPIB0, controller of system activated, etc.).

Thank you very much for your suggestions!

    -Rick

    Hi rnelsonee,

Make sure you also have the NOR-488 driver. 2-day so you can communicate with GPIB devices correctly. You can follow this link to download.

    http://www.NI.com/download/NI-488.2-14.0/4802/en/

If you still have questions, could you let me know what kind of errors you get when you fail the self-test NI Max? All codes error or screenshots you can provide will be useful. Thank you.

  • PID state machine problem

    Hello.

I have a problem with my design of State machine and I need help to know what to do.

I m using a state machine six steps for HVAC test machines. Password-> Idle it down-> Run-> Acquire-> Report--> Shut. Run and acquire the States have PID controls in them (almost identical States) and very fast three-way-valves they´re for the desired control of the temperatures of the water mixture. I m running try to get static values for temperatures and I m satisfied with them, moving to acquire the State to get the data in the report. My problem is that when the race to acquire, PID control outputs from scratch and at that time there static temperatures have disappeared. Worst case is that the tested machine HVAC stops following liquids from bad weather and I start from the beginning.

Is there a way to tell the PID.vi the release of starting a specific value? In this case, continue to the last value that they released in the State of enforcement?

I know that scheluding of gain would do (machines would be not closed) but I Don t want to use it because the original problem would still be there.

    Arctic_Fox wrote:

So PID vi:s remove from the state machine, placing them inside the while loop that surrounds the state machine and leaving all necessary writing DAQmx-functions inside the race and the States Acquire would make corrections on the positions of the valve only on those two States. Right?

It is a good idea.  I leave the DAQmx functions outside the state machine as well.  If you need to write a fixed value for the outputs when the PID is not running, use the PID that you already have to determine the value to write (output PID or anything else) on/off switch.  In addition, I would make sure the reset of PID entry is true whenever the PID is not running.

  • unit test framework

Is it possible to group together the Unit Test framework in an EXE?  I would like to pass a path of the project file and path of the report file to an exe file that will reside on a dedicated test server and run tests or user-defined Unit Tests that are included in the project file.

I want to use this EXE to run automated tests that can be triggered by a CI server like cruise control.

Is there a limitation with a Toolbox or UTF specifically, which prevents the package in an EXE?

You cannot run as a stand-alone executable Unit Test infrastructure. He uses a lot of functionality which is part of the LabVIEW development system, but not the LabVIEW runtime engine (for example in order to process the block diagrams, project files).

What you can do in order to solve your use case is to install LabVIEW on your test machine and run a VI that runs your tests. There are several ways of commissioning and control of LabVIEW, including a command line interface that allows you to pass in a name of VI to run more parameters for the VI. A more accurate way to control LabVIEW would be through ActiveX, which is possible for example in a VB Script or JavaScript that are executed by the Windows Scripting Host.

This piece of VBScript for example takes 2 inputs command line, start of LabVIEW, charge a VI, passes the values to the VI and run the VI. He will wait for LabVIEW is finished (as an option). You can also choose to keep LabVIEW run all the time, or to have the script open and close as needed.

    Dim oLV
    Set oLV = CreateObject("LabVIEW.Application")

    sCurPath = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject").GetAbsolutePathName(".")

    Dim oVI
    Set oVI = oLV.GetVIReference(sCurPath&"\LVDiff.llb\Diff_VI.vi")

    oVI.SetControlValue "Input 1", WScript.Arguments(0)
    oVI.SetControlValue "Input 2", WScript.Arguments(1)

    On Error Resume Next
    oVI.Run(0)
    If Err.Number>0 Then
        oVI.Abort
        MsgBox "Error"
    End If

    Hope that helps,

    Herbert

  • TEST DL785 32 Core + 128 GB of RAM

    Hello

We would like to create VMMark environment for big test Machine with kernel 32 and 128 GB of ram.

In environment VMmark, there are 7 VM I see on Vmwark result for this type of server title 19 or 20.

Each securities subscription contains the vm 7.

If I calculate correctly, I have to install VM 140 and I need 1600 GB space for testing.

Could confirm you this... I need a lot of time to install this environment...

    Thank you

    Ludovic

There are 6 virtual machines by tile.  So 20 tiles is 6 * 20 is 120 virtual machines

A tile uses ~ 80 GB drive so that your 1600 GB estimate is correct.

  • My Adobe Reader Plugin does not load in some Machines

    Hello

I created a Plugin for Adobe Reader 9 and Adobe Reader X.

In accordance with the license, it must work with the version.

My plugin to load in Adobe Reader 9 and Adobe Reader X versions only in the development machines and few of the test machines and my plugin works very well in these machine depending on the task, he must do.

I tried to test my plugin in some machines having the same configuration as that of machines where my plugin was able to load, but I could see that my plugin loaded only in some machines and all the other machine its not load.

Please someone let me know why this happens and how to solve this problem. I think I'm missing something to load my Plugin, but in some machines, I was able to load my plugin without all the settings other than the copy of my plugin .api file to the folder of the Plugin player.

Thanks in advance. Please someone help me.

Everything that you have done with your plugin on MFC or other libraries must be addressed - it's your VC project.

You have the MacBookPro6, 2 - the Edsel of Mac. There may be the failure of logic-board that was covered by a recall program that is now complete.

The model was abandoned in February 2011. It is now classified by Apple as a "vintage product." This means that Apple will probably refuse to fix (see exceptions on the linked page.) In this case, you will need to go to an independent service provider. The part can be is no longer available, or the repair may not be profitable.

Often, the problems start after an upgrade of the OS. If the upgrade has been recently, and you have backups, you can then go back to a previous version of OS X.

Otherwise, an appointment of 'Genius' in an Apple Store, or switch to a different service provider authorized, to have the tested machine. The trial will be free to an Apple Store - unless Apple refuses to even look at the unit, as it could. Diagnoses of current equipment used by service providers don't detect the fault. There is a specific test for this number called "VST" (for "video system Test.") Ask for it. A "Failed" result means that the defect is present.

If you decide to go to an independent service provider, be aware that the replacement part may also be faulty. Some owners reported that they went up to three replacement boards before you get one that worked. Don't expect any help from Apple if you have to pay several hundred dollars for an another bad logic board and that the supplier will be replace again.

If you don't want to take that risk, or if you don't like the price you quoted, you may (or may not) be able to work around the problem by disabling automatic switching graphics. To use the separate graphics processor, you will need a third-party utility to manually switch to him.

  • WPA2 Enterprise 'disconnect' after about 1 h

    Hello

I am the COMPUTER administrator for a company that has WPA2 Enterprise Wi - Fi set up in different locations across the country and who authenticate to a central RADIUS server. All windows/domain joined computers can connect and work fine however all our Macs in multiple locations meet the same problem. The Mac can connect and authenticate to the WiFi network using authentication EAP-PEAP (MSCHAPv2) however user anywhere between 30 minutes and an hour or so the mac receives an error "authentication failed on the network - authentication server is not responding. Contact your network administrator to verify the network infrastructure. ', and the only option is 'Disconnect '. The strange thing is the connection is always connected and ping google.com continues to operate until the moment I press 'disconnect '. I can then usually to reconnect back to the same network, authenticate, and continue to work for another 30-60 minutes until it happens again. This is obviously not ideal and very frustrating for my colleagues using Mac.

I've been trying to solve cela a couple during the week and even set up a new NPS/RADIUS server on the latest version of windows server but the problem persists. I am very knowledgeable on the Microsoft products, but not so much with mac and apple. Am I missing something?

My current test machine is a Macbook Pro 15 inch Mid 2010 running OS X EL Capitan 10.11.5 but I'm quite sure of what is going on between several versions of Mac OS.

Thanks in advance for any guidance.

There is an answer here of leroy Douglas that contains the caveat:

the requirements are specific to the customer RADIUS server and can vary widely

MacBook Pro - switching user disconnect Wi - Fi connection when you use authentication company WiFi

have you contacted the developer of the RADIUS you have?

  • I can't sign my youtube using FireFox account. 12.0

This started in FF 10. For some reason any on my main desktop computer, I can not sign in my you tube account. This occur only on this computer. I get no indication of an error, but when I get my e-mail address and password on the page of Youtube you tube homepage access code appears again with the sign on the button instead of my username. And more far onve tried to sign, even though the Web page displays the signon button when I press it, nothing seems to happen. I never get the sign on the new page. I have to delete all associated youtube cookies then I'll make the sign on the page, but still I can't sign.
I tried to delete all cookies, I even uninstalled and reinstalled FF, but still I can not solve this problem.
I am slot that Win7 Ultimate 64-bit. My laptop is running that win7 Pro 64 bit. It doesn't have this problem, even my Win8 test machine does not have this problem

Thank you. I fixed it by going to about: permissions and looking for the youtube url ('you' entered in the search box of the site). When I chose the URL www.youtube.com value cookies has been blocked. So I unlocked it and now I am able to sign into my account. Thank you.
