Tests of the fiber of a switch cables

Hello world

I have two new Cisco switches connected to each other through a fiber cable.

Does anyone know of CLI commands to test the fiber of any one of the two switches cable?

(I know that there is the command "test cable diagnostics... etc".)  But this only works with copper)

Thank you

There is nothing to test the fiber directly, other than an instrument of separate fiber as a light meter or an OTDR Tester

What happens usually is to compare levels of TX and RX optics on both sides, to ensure that the signal is understood, so its scope, you should be OK. Optical levels are usually found in the transceiver interface see the display interface controllers or view the details of the interface, you may need to search to find it, don't be confused by the TX and RX thresholds

For example, if on the first optical levels facing show is 1/TX and RX is - 5, face to face a 1 TX and RX - 22 the face is RX'ing much more wrong signal as the first side. 6 dBm is loss overall in one direction and the other way is 23, which would indicate a connection problem. Notes; a - 40 or - 50 or - 80 means no signal

According to what you see you are troubleshooting-carried out from there

Hey the config looks ok just disappeared locally pointing to the other switch, default gateway as you say

PC must be set with the 192.168.31.250 gateway vlan 31 and have a static ip address in the same range and same subnet

Make sure that your vlan 31 is to the top/top

When I try to install from disk backup it is hard disk not found, but in the bios the hard drive is located and can not boot from it.

I tried with winxp pro disc to try not to get an OS on the laptop any partition to the OS but a blue screen with an error 0 x 00000050 CrashFree disk gives error 1170 if I remember correctly.

I can't update the bios with new version because she needs windows, I can't stop the lan because there is no setting in the bios very minimul with about 4 useful settings in it.

Is the hard drive turned or is this a bug in the bios that it detects drive hard, but does not assign a letter properly?

If I try the recovery console in xp Setup there is no disk to read or write, if I maps the drive in recovery only the cd/dvd rom found no hard drive.

Any help would be great thank you because I don't know what to do, I don't think that the hard drive is shot myself but maybe if I can get a laptop and try the hard drive what she will say if it is or not, but for now I'm stuck with no. had to go.

    Hello Shoah

You did what I would recommend.
I remember what one of my friends has had a similar problem on an A200. But after the BIOS reset by default, he was able to install the OS from the recovery CD.

The whole is very mysterious. It looks like a HARD disk failure, but the HARD drive is recognized in the BIOS. But have you checked the HARD disk in other laptop or computer?
You can try to connect the HARD disk via the external USB HDD controller and could check if it s ok and could format.

I recommend also to remove the CD/DVD drive and the HARD drive, then set the BIOS to default settings immediately (don't forget to save changes). Then try to power upward without the HARD disc and the drive.
To my knowledge, you should get an error message.
Then stop the laptop and put both the device in Notepad. Then go to BIOS and check if both devices are properly recognized.

Finally, I must say that I don't know if my proposal will help m.
If she won't help, you will need to contact an ASP in your country, because it really looks like a serious problem.

    Good luck

  • MBP mid-2010 (15-inch, 2.53 GHz, i5) unexpected reboot of the system of dynamic switching map chart

Hi there, I've never had this problem when I bought my MBP in 2010, but after the problem with unexpected reboots of El Capitan passage has become more common and is really affecting the productivity of my laptop.

For clarity, here's my cell phone information:

    MacBook Pro (15-inch, mid 2010)

Processor: Intel Core i5 2.53 GHz to

    Memory: 8 GB 1067 MHz DDR3

    Graphics card:

integrated - Intel HD Graphics 288 MB

    discreet - NVIDIA GeForce GT 330 M 256 MB

I ran the the Apple Hardware Test with no problems found. After looking on the forums and identifying the problem I installed gfxCardStatus to keep the graphics card using only internally, however, some programs force the use of Nvidia, which translates as the unexpected restarts.

The latest report of panic is attached below:

In any case, it is quite upsetting that after spending thousands of dollars on apple and laptops high-end, these problems are properly does not recognize their existence. After discussing with them several times they fail to take responsibility, when it is clearly a case of defective material...

Any suggestions for managing at least this issue would be very useful.

    Thank you

You have the MacBookPro6, 2 - the Edsel of Mac. There may be the failure of logic-board that was covered by a recall program that is now complete.

The model was abandoned in February 2011. From five years from this date, it will be classified by Apple as "vintage product." This means that Apple will refuse probably a maintenance action (see exceptions on the linked page.) In this case, you will need to go to an independent service provider. The part can be is no longer available, or the repair may not be profitable.

An appointment of 'Genius' in an Apple Store, or go to a different service provider authorized, to have the tested machine. Diagnoses of current equipment used by service providers don't detect the fault. There is a specific test for the same problem that Apple calls "VST" (for "video switching Test.") Ask for it. A "Failed" result means that the defect is present.

You may be quoted a price of about $350 (in the United States) for a "repair," which is to send the unit to a repair shop central and lasts about two weeks. For this package, found nothing wrong with it should be fixed, not only the logic board.

Sometimes, the spare part is also faulty, so be prepared for this eventuality. If you decide to pay for a new logic board, rigorously test during the 90 day warranty on the repair. Some owners have reported that they went up to three replacement boards before you get one that worked.

If you don't want to pay for the repair, you may (or may not) be able to work around the problem by disabling automatic switching graphics. To use the separate graphics processor, you will need a third-party utility to manually switch to him.

Often, the problems start after an upgrade of the OS. If the upgrade has been recently, and you have backups, you can then go back to a previous version of OS X.

  • PCI-8335 (MXI-3) when the fiber is connected to the map PCI8335-> PC freezes

When I connect the fiber on the map of PCI8335, the Tower Mini of PC DELL Vostro 220 Desktop freezes (software, mouse, keyboard)
If, during startup, the fiber is not connected, the PC starts and everything works normally (with the exception of the communication and the application of National Instruments because the fiber is not connected)
If I plug the fiber when the PC is completely started, 2 bright LEDs; then when I run the application, MX-3, the PC freezes.
Map of the PCI-8335 is down or is this another problem? Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi all

The installation still work since my repair on 10 September 2015. After that analysis with National Instruments France, the likely cause of the failure is that, during a power outage (storm or stop because of the fire detection device) the remote PXI chassis stopped but not the PC because it's on the inverter.

/ ! ------PXI / PCI chassis should be launched before the PC; order to operate the 2 switches in the chassis does not matter.

During my last speech (10 September), I so reset the chassis and restart the PC after the chassis (IE in the correct order) and since everything is working. This is the solution.

  • Does anyone have a pinout for the UMI OR AKD Drive Cable?

I make a motion controller with an NI 7350 card with evasion NI UMI-7774.  I connect to the UMI-7774 to a drive Kollmorgan AKD with UMI OR AKD drive cable.  This cable has a terminal of 20 pin block which I believe includes the home and limit switch signals, but I don't have a pinout of the UMI to AKD drive cable to verify this.  Anyone know where I can get this pinout?

    Thank you

    Chris

    Hi Chris,

Can be found on page 8 of the manual of getting started with the NI 7340/7350 and AKD Servo Drives Motors controllers the pinout of the connector terminal screws 20 pins of the UMI to AKD drive cable. • separate the keyboard of Acer switch 11

    Hello!

I have an Acer Aspire 11 switch SW5-171- 39 LB. This model allows me to separate the screen keyboard. Sometimes, I was hoping to be able to separate the display and place it in a location which is at eye height and leave the keyboard on the desktop and connect the keyboard to the screen via a USB cable. Unfortunately, once I have separate screen keyboard, the keyboard does not work even if I connect via a USB cable on the screen. I am forced to use the on-screen keyboard. I use instead the "real keyboard." If someone has a creative way around that instead of having to buy another USB keyboard, I'll be interested. Thank YOU

Sorry, not going to be possible. USB connections tend to either you allow to use them as a host to a USB device (for example, a USB port on a PC) or as a client to this host (for example the USB connectors located on a mouse or a keyboard). Your keyboard has a connection on the side which connects to the computer that acts as a client and a port on the side which acts as a host. You cannot move the functions...

  • Is it possible for HA / VMotion to migrate a virtual computer when the fiber of SAN connectivity is lost / Cup?

    Use: Version ESX 4 / vCenter4

I have a cluster with ESX 4 nodes running HA. I want to know if it is possible for vmotion to migrate a virtual computer if the host on which it lives has a loss of fiber optic connectivity to SAN/back-end storage. I can get VMotion to work when I go unplug the Ethernet cable to the back of the esx host, but when I unplug the fiber connections that will freeze the virtual machine and no migration will happen. Is it possible to do this with VMotion HA? I also tried to use aggressive DRS to see if when I unplug the fiber it lose connectivity and a loss of memory or cpu and migrate... so not happened... the vm always reports to vCenter that memory and cpu have not changed... then DRS don't not kick to migrate the virtual machine.

    Thank you.

There is no such thing for HA. HA only fires when there is a host or a network isolation fails. DRS also does not realize this. However, there are a lot of events that can trigger an action such as "maintenance mode". don't know if there is a for the failures of way, just check it out. It is described in the following pdf document: http://www.vmware.com/pdf/vsphere4/r40_u1/vsp_40_u1_admin_guide.pdf

  • How to locate the fiber channel SAN disks on the ESX Server

    Hi all

    Please help on this

How to find and configure the fiber channel SAN disks on the ESX Server

    Concerning

    Vijay

Assuming that you have configured LUNS on your storage space itself you will need to ensure that the ID in the world of fiber HBA on the host ESX (you can see them registered against fiber HBA under storage adapters, WWID) are configured on the switch of fiber access (read and write).

In the VI Client connected to your ESX host, select the storage adapters tab and highlight the Fibre HBA. Right-click and select Rescan. If you have correctly configured the SAN and the Fibre switch, then the LUNS now appear under the fiber HBA. Go to storage and select Add storage. Follow the wizard through to add LUNS and VMFS format. Do this for each ESX host that you want to see the LUNS.

  • I want to thank my wifi in another part of the House with an Airport Extreme. But I want to not be connected to the modem main via ethernet cable is it possible?

I want to thank my wifi in another part of the House with an Airport Extreme. But I want to not be connected to the modem main via ethernet cable is it possible?

I put in place already to extend the wifi of my modem still connected to the modem via ethernet cable.

Now I want to be considered on the floor and use it to extend the wifi without ethernet cable

The AirPort Extreme can extend only wireless signal from another router from Apple, so if you want to take the AirPort Extreme on the floor and extend wireless signal, you will need another airport connected to your modem by Ethernet cable router to produce the wireless signal that will extend the extreme on the floor.

Another way of saying the same thing would be to say that if you want to extend wireless using a router from Apple, you'll need two of them do... because AirPort Extreme is not compatible with a third-party modem or modem/router for this purpose.

  • SMART short self-test - on the second hard drive

    HP Pavilion Elite e9270t - 3 yrs old, Win7.

Became the error SMART self-test short the original drive so I installed a replacement and transferred files.

I get the same error on the second h/d. I have my doubts that the second disk is having the exact same error and wonder if the s/w test is actually the problem.

It could very well be the connectors that gives you the question instead of the HARD drive itself. I would run the HARD drive test in BIOS instead of the short test.

    Try this:

    1. Plug the AC adapter into the computer if it is not already connected.
    2. Turn off the computer and wait five seconds.
    3. Press the power button to start the computer and repeatedly press the F10 key to enter the BIOS Setup menu.
    4. Use the right arrow or left arrow keys to navigate the menu selection to find the Auto test primary hard drive option. Depending on your BIOS, it is under diagnoses or tools.
    5. Select self-test primary hard drive, and then press the Enter key to start the test.

Figure 1: Example of a primary hard disk self test screen

The hard drive self test performs a Quick Test , followed by a complete Test. During each test, the window displays a status bar and a scheduled for completion

Let me know the results of this test.

  • Disable the wireless on/off switch

    Hello

Anyone know if it is possible to turn off the power switch for the wireless adapter?

We are a school and we have 32 Tecra S1s using students. As I often get called because they cannot log on to the support person, when I'm there I found that the wireless has been turned off.

So if it is possible to force the wireless to stay lit regardless of the position of this switch, it would be extremely beneficial to us.

    Thanks in advance.

    Mike

    Hello Mike

A product must be designed on the way to offer both options and each single user can make the decision to use mode ON or OFF. As you know, it is important to reduce the power consumption in battery mode.

As far as I know there are not any type of only ON switch and I can imagine just this notebook must be disassembled and connect directly to the motherboard. I recommend you to call Toshiba technicians in your country and explain the situation. I'm sure they can you give some advice or help you do what you want.

Otherwise you have to give a training all teachers to explain to children how to start with the WLAN use on laptops.
