The file name looks like has changed, but not really

I have several video files, I created and then changed the name of. The name seems to change in the finder, BUT when I open in VLC or drop it into itunes it shows the original name.

There must be another place, the name is stored (in the file?)

Any help?

There is a title within the video file.  When creating, this is the same as the name of the file, but change the name of the file will not change anything inside the file.

To change the title, right click on the file in iTunes, select "Get Info", change the title in the Details tab, and then click OK.

  • Animate the file in Captivate works on Mac but not Windows. Why?

I built a custom ToolTip rollover in edge animate and then imported the .oam file into Captivate. I chose this path because the end result of the lesson of Captivate is HTML5 and bed in Captivate training balloon interaction works with a .swf output. So I wanted the animation fantasy effect

Here's the thing. The ToolTip works and works beautifully on my Mac when you view the file Captivate output in the browser Chrome or Safari. When you try to view the same Captivate file into Chrome, Firefox or IE on a Windows operating system, it is a complete failure. Why is this? This is important because I'm working on a hybrid team where there is a mix of OS X and Windows operating system, and there is not to say the variety of the OS which will be used to interact with my lessons of Captivate.

So here's my question: why est-info-bulle works perfectly under OS X, but a complete failure on Windows?

Please feel free to download the zipped file from Captivate here.

  • On my iPad, can I move files from one folder to another, but not in the Preview file, why?

When you manage files in iCloud, from an iPad, I can move to the files from one folder to another, but not in the Preview file. Secondly, when I check the file Preview to iCloud from Mac content is so different when you look at an iPad. Why is the gap between the iPad and the Mac?

Try to go to iCloud.com to see if the elements are there and whether the device or the computer. That should indicate if the device or computer is not synchronizing. If the computer, try going to System Preferences/iCloud and stop synchronization. Wait a few minutes, then recheck the timing. If the device, go to settings/iCloud and do the foregoing.

  • How can I change a SINGLE CHARACTER in the file name?

I have in the Panel right side meta tag a file name, the original name and copy name field.

The file has been renamed already. So I'm not interested in original file name, in any case I can't click on it.

    "I would like to change a +! / « % / « + ! CHARACTERS in the file name field which is 50 characters.

If I click on it gives me a window of batch renaming.

If I click on the name of the copy that I have to write everything from scratch BECAUSE I can NOT COPY the file name field.

So here we are in the 21st century

I have a solution: I copy the name of the file from the vista Explorer and paste into copy name BUT what if I do this hundreds times?

First of all, bringing the name of copy to do with the file name? I think you are badly understand the purpose of the copy name field. It's to give a virtual copy a distinctive name.

Now for the naming of the files is... If I understand, you want to change the name right in the metadata Panel, but the file name field is not editable. It is a bug. It is exposed when you have multiple selected files and change the display of the metadata Panel. You can fix it temporarily by selecting a single file in the grid and change the display of the metadata Panel of any defect or vice versa (see the attached screenshot). Now that the field become editable, you change the character.

If you want to for hundreds of files by using a template, then would be nice if you provide your source and target file name patterns.

  • The file names changed on computer are different once the download to the player

Recently, I've cleaned more than 600 + songs on my player to make more room for new music. I downloaded several songs from different sources (as usual) (I use my rocket for music and nothing else) and changed their names into something I woud download original recognize. When placed on the device, the file names will appear in cryllic, half recognized Japanese or a series of numbers.

AND the songs newly added to the "rocket" do not appear in the upper part of music recently added as it should (until I deleted the player off)

My computer does not recognize the Fuze 4 GB, I was recently using a miniSD 2 gb, but the recent downsizing rendered useless until I have run out of space.

... I think that's all... What should I do? Its very annoying and I would LIKE your comments!  Help, please!

Just guessing, but have you changed the names of the new music FILES?

I think you will find that the displayed info song comes from tags in MP3 files.

You can change these if you want to... There are publishers of available MP3 tags, I've been using

a program called "MP3tag", oddly enough.

You can also add album art using this same program.

  • The file names changed in wingdings, including the file extension and I can't delete, change them, open, etc. Here are the pictures.

Have (had) a file with multiple files it contains with pictures in each file.  A week ago the pictures were there.  Now, the names are replaced by wingdings as names and file extensions.  When I try to open it, it is not accessible and that the file name, directory name or volume label syntax is incorrect.  When I try to delete it, it says that the file name you specified is invalid or too long and specify a different name.  When I try to rename it, it tells me that if I change the file name extension, the file may become unusable.  If I try to change anyway, it says I've specified file name is not valid or too long.  Only tried for the name 1.  I did a restore in the case where a program interfered with that.  However, nothing has changed.  All of the suggestions.

You can download and try to delete the file Unlocker http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/System-Miscellaneous/Unlocker.shtmlwilh.  Although it is not designed for this particular circumstance, it may very well work in all cases, as it has been very successful in a wide variety of situations are not specifically highlighted in the directions (where do not work the normal Vista options).  NOTE: Some antivirus flag programs this program as a malware, but it is a 'false positive' and is safe to use perferctly.  My own software to flag, but several other well-known software products it clean and the warning is included in the documentation of the program.

I wish there was a way to save the images, but at this point, it seems that the only option is to delete because you can't rename files EHF (if this option is available-I hope that work above).  Unfortunately, System Restore does not affect the files of data, so even if a program caused this, System Restore can eliminate the cause, but it would not restore the files to their previous names.

If you have Vista Business, Vista Ultimate or Vista Enterprise, you can be lucky because they retain the files called snapshots http://windows.microsoft.com/en-AU/windows-vista/Previous-versions-of-files-frequently-asked-questions.  It can be used to recover previous versions of files that have been changed or deleted accidentally.  Here's how: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-vista/features/shadow-copy.aspx.

If you have Vista Basic or Premium of Vista, you don't have a shadow, but there is a free program for you that does essentially the same thing called Shadow Explorer: http://www.shadowexplorer.com/.  I suggest that you download and implement as soon as POSSIBLE to protect you if you accidentally delete or modify a file.  It will not help you in this instance, but it can help save the next time.

I'm more concerned about why this has happened in the first place and prevent it from happening again.  I saw file names change before, but never of wingdings which then do not let you open, edit, delete, or rename.  We will check some of your system files: go to start / all programs / accessories / command prompt and right click on command prompt, and then click Run as administrator.

Type sfc/scannow, go and let it run.  It will scan and try to correct some of your system files.  If all goes well he comes complete with no corruption, it could not repair (if it has these post of corruption here or try to analyze it to find the problem or files using http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928228.  If you find any these corrupted files, try to post them here.  Maybe we can replace the good files on the disc.

While in the command prompt, type chkdsk /f /r and enter and let it run.  It will scan and try to solve any corruption or bad sectors on your hard drive and remove especially as a cause.

If this does not work, then please post repetitive errors in Event Viewer about the name change (Start / Control Panel / administrative tools / Event Viewer).  Here's how to use Event Viewer: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic40108.html.

If this does not work, you will need to do a repair/system upgrade using the Windows Vista Installation disc authentic (you own or that you can borrow from someone).  Here is the procedure: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/88236-repair-install-vista.html as well as the upgrade from an earlier version of the Windows section of the following: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/918884.  Although this will not affect your data, settings or programs, you should always back up your data before you start just be on the safe side. If other procedures do not work, it is almost certain to work - but it will probably not fix your renamed files.  You can have a lot of updates to re - install (including all you need to remove service packs).  If the version on system with SP1 or SP2 preinstalled cane and the disc is an earlier version, then you will need to do a slipstream drive as follows: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/151606-vista-sp1-slipstream-installation-dvd.html.

I hope one of these procedures can solve your problem.  If this isn't the case, after return and we will try something else.  Return message anyway so we know how it turns out.

  • Cannot find filename when looking for a part of the file name.

I'm just trying to do a simple search.  I have a few hundred files in a number of subfolders and above I'm looking for right in the file name (in the upper right corner of the browser) and he doesn't find anything.  This is getting very, very frustrating.  It seems to randomly find some files... but no more.

Is there some settiing I need to change?  What is the problem?

Well - I thought of her.  Despite light in several places that the 7 search automatically applies a generic search at both ends of your criteria, is not.  So, let's say that I was looking for the file name "aaaxyzbbb.txt"... the search for "xyz" found nothing.  But "* xyz" found what I was looking for...

  • How can I request the file more robust features of change of name

I'm converting my names of folders and files to the standard naming conventions I've added pictures. Some are already in the LR4. Others I did not convert, but it will be easier find duplicates and manage the process within the LR4 EXCEPT for one thing.

As my file names are incompatible between folders, as I have to standardize their it is often necessary to rename files based on pulling part of the names of existing files - I need something like a LEFT(), RIGHT(), or MID() function.

For example, I can't use the year because the file has been scanned, but the original year (YYYY) is part of the file name. Same thing for the camera 4-digit assigned number that I use in my standard file naming convention which I conversion. There are other examples, as well.

A previous post got no answer on how to do this time that a photo was in the catalog, which seems to me that we can't do it now. How can I request this feature? It is essential for the management of old photos during the process of getting them converted to the standard assignment of names and catalogued photos, especially scanned.

  • prevent the file name change and auto complete field

With the help of Acrobat DC Pro.

Is it possible to prevent a user from changing the name of an acroform file if they save or save as?

If it is not possible to prevent the user from changing the file name, is it possible to automatically fill a form field with the new file name when saving, or when you submit the pdf?

    I hope someone can help.

    Avoiding it is not possible.

However, you can prevent the submitted file if it has a

different name. This would require using a script, however.

It is also possible to set the field to display the file name, by using this code

at the level of the doc:

    this.getField("FileName").value = this.documentFileName;

  • How can I change the file name on the home page?

I'm changing the file name of the home page...

I'm on page properties > options > filename... but he is frozen as index.html

Is there a way to change that and name it something else?

    Hello

As most web servers consider index.html as the site's home page, the option is grayed out in Muse to rename indexes (homepage).

How ever, you can go ahead and change the name to other pages in the site map.
