The HP Windows Vista Media Center m8000n graphics card upgrade

Hello everyone

I have a HP Windows Vista Media Center m8000n and 6 GB of RAM

I want to know if I could update my graphics card and I keep waching TV via my computer.  I became in a gamer and I want to upgrade my computer. If it exists, which is the best graphic card?

Also, I would like to know if I need to change the computer power supply.

Thank you in advance.

P.S. I need an answer as soon as possible

[Personal information]

If your TV card's on the 3rd slot (PCI) then your ok to let this map overlap empty PCIEx1 slot. The TV card can stay.

I made my initial comment based on my computer, which has the same motherboard (although ver2).

My TV card is in the slot (PCIEx1), #2 and I can not install the card for your purchase.

Can someone help me get the most out of Windows Vista media center with my new Qosmio G50.

There is a tuner inside this laptop and I have the antenna and its plugged in. The drivers all seem to be installed but WMC tells me that I don't have the hardware to run FM stations and I can't make it work. Also, I can't record library but although I can't watch TV no problem at all.

Someone out there have the answer?

    Hello

Are you sure that your equipped G50 FM tuner to 100%?

As I know a few models of G50 has been equipped with a tuner TV with antenna TV port that allows to connect a coaxial cable to this port to watch a TV program and then save.
But as I said earlier, this feature is not included with all models of G50.

Sorry, but I didn't find any info regarding the FM tuner.

  • Why Windows Vista Media Center Program Guide stopped working

I've been using Windows Vista Media Center as my main way to watch and record the TV, music, and Photos for a few years (shortly after Windows Vista came out).

Since January 1, 2013, the program guide showed no data.

I believe that this is because the Microsoft agreement with the broadcasting of the Data Services to the United Kingdom is exhausted.

What is Microsoft doing about this?

Can what steps I take to restore my Media Center if you work?

    Hello Nikki Locke,

That's great, that you have found a solution. However, you can view the following information.
Please see the thread below because there was a problem with the program guide in the United Kingdom and Ireland. It must be corrected. If not, let us know.

  • Windows vista media center does not I can uninstall and reinstall?

Windows vista Media Center has been installed, but will not respond. How can I fix this problem?

    Hello

    You cannot uninstall or reinstall

    Try this:

    Run the sfc/scannow command.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929833

  • Current do not install the update to Vista Media Center (KB960544)

I would appreciate much information on how to deal with a recurring problem of the automatic Windows Update: "Cumulative Update for Media Center for Windows Vista (KB960544)."

Since the beginning of February 2009, whenever I start my computer, I get a notice that the update above tried and impossible to install.  The notice made reference to "Error Code 80073701"

My operating system is Vista Home Premium (OEM), and whenever I turned off the computer, an application of the computer power off not because an update is the installation appears on the screen of the monitor.  However, when the computer is started, this update was not installed.  Until this problem appeared, I had no problem with the other, automatic updates, and even now, other updates have been installed, without difficulty.

I crossed the procedures recommended for troubleshooting and the Knowledge Base of Vista and tried to install the update file that is available online.  But no luck.

Someone else has experience this problem?  If so, and you have any suggestions, thank you very much for your kind cooperation.

  • DEFAULT DOWNLOAD EPG IN WINDOWS VISTA MEDIA CENTER ERROR ON ERROR CODE: MC EVENT VIEWER CODE 0 13.

No not someone arrive at a viable solution for this yet? I had this problem for about 6 weeks and tried all of the solutions that I can find with no luck. I think that now it is linked to an update of Windows but which when I certainly don't know.  When I do a system clean reinstall the EPG download will temporarily (I did twice now) but after just a couple of updates and when Windows update has done been thing guide refused once more to download. How the world would be a person understand this because when I do reinstall the system there are about 150 updates waiting to download?

Come on Microsoft Engineering people must certainly be a solution to this problem if anyone cares enough to explore the substantive issue. It seems that there are many, many others having the same problem.

The old post of 2006 has an explanation detailed on the error code 13 and the same thing applies for Vista too, this is why I mentioned this one.

I understand your frustration. The problem is essentially due to firewalls or things of internet security or antivirus interference.

http://Forum.wegotserved.com/index.php?/topic/2676-guide-dowload-error-code-13-Vista-users came up with a solution. Does that help?

    Try the other suggestions too.

  • Windows Vista Media Center

I'm having a problem to start the Media Center. It starts fine, but then when I press the live tv button or the record button, it freezes and the just little blue loading circle keeps going around and around and nothing happens. It was working fine before, I got a message that something could not be updated and restart my computer and try again. So I restarted my computer, but it has worked since then.

    Hi BradenM,

This problem occurs if the Windows Media Center update process (Mcupdate.exe) cannot access the Windows Media Center data store. You may experience this problem if the data store is corrupted. So, try to rebuild the Media Center data store.

You can run the fix tool available in the link below and check if it works.
    http://go.Microsoft.com/?linkid=9643524

You can also try manual mode to rebuild the media center data store.

1 exit any running instance of Windows Media Center.
2 delete the mediaCenterDataStore.db file. By default, this file is located in the following location:
    %SystemDrive%\ProgramData\Microsoft\eHome\mediaCenterDataStore.DB
To remove the file, follow these steps:
    a. click Startand then click run.
    (b) in the Open box, type run, and then click OK
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the password, or click continue.
    (c) in the Open box, type %systemdrive%\programdata\microsoft\ehome , and then click OK.
    d. in the details pane, right-click right mediacenterdatastore.db and then click Remove.
    e. click Yes to confirm that you want to move the Mediacenterdatastore.db file to the trash.

    3. start Windows Media Center.

  • Windows Vista Media Center Set up to cable

I want to use the DVR built into my computer.  I have Windows Vista Home Premium 2007.  Two years back I had the computer through the cable interface and attached box IR material.  Tried to hang today but without success.  I don't remember my connetion process.  The cable of the wall runs from the router, and then to the computer?  Is the reason why I have trouble because of the transition from analogue to digital?  There is also a small Franck, and I think it was before incorrporated, but I'm not sure.  I need instructions on the hook upward cables, what anything and everything that is involved.  It seemed very simple the first time I hooked it up.  Any help is appreciated.
    Thank you!

Thanks for your help.  I plugged the cable into the cable and then to the computer box and put on my infrared device.  Everything goes well.  I have another question.  I now use the TV as my monitor and I hooked up via VGA.  I noticed that I have about three inches of black screen on both sides of the tv.  Is there a way to fill the screen?

    Thanks again!

  • Vista Media Center will play is no longer the DVD or TV?

Windows vista media Center will not play TV, although he did it again and it will not read the DVD more, but there again. The answers would be gratefull.

OK, forget the TV, I have now it works well.

But I still can't read the DVD.

After having put in a disk, it makes a funny sound as if she is looking for the disc backwards & fordwards permanently. After some time when nothing is happening and I'm going to eject the disc, a popup said cannot detect a disk.

This happens on the plant as well as those burned discs.

What happens if you try to play outside of the WMC?
If it is it may be a disk problem.
