The Mavericks own downgrade

I'm looking for downgrade from Yosemite to the Mavericks after hurriedly deciding to upgrade before El Capitan has rolled out. I have had problems with Pro Tools after a recent update of this program and now seems to be the right time to do a clean install of Mavericks and start from scratch. I installed a disc SSD boot about a year ago and I still have the original HARD, Mavericks on this disc and I thought that I would try to do a clean install from that. Are there additional steps I need to take to do a clean install from that drive? It is not 'clean' because I have some programs installed on it.

Apple does not use the terminology 'clean install', so I would recommend you avoid it scared you wrong interpret what you intend to do. Did you buy Mavericks from the Mac App Store, or was initially installed Mavericks on your MBP when you bought it?

In both cases, booting OS X Internet recovery will allow you to restore the OS X installed initially supplied with your Mac version. Do that add an option key key ⌘ R rope when you start your Mac: using three fingers hold ⌘ + R option (three fingers) when you start up your Mac with a fourth finger. Keep the three fingers where they are until you see the icon "spinning globe. You can then use disk utility to erase the boot volume, after you reinstall the Mac OS originally installed. If it wasn't no Mavericks, thereafter install Mavericks from the Mac App Store by selecting the tab bought .

Or, quite simply, you can reinstall the HARD drive that you removed.

Your Mac came with the Mavericks, or earlier? You cannot start a version of Mac OS x earlier than what it came with.

  • Should I downgrade from Yosemite to the Mavericks?

    Hello.

I am currently using the retina-no, mid 2012 MacBook Pro with 4 GB of RAM and 500 GB HARD drive. I bought in 2015 so it came with Yosemite (version 10.10.5) preinstalled. I don't plan to upgrade the HARD drive to SSD anytime soon. So should I install the Mavericks on the mac or continue to use the Yosemite. Which of the two will run better and faster?

No Apple Mac can run an operating system earlier than that which he had initially.

  • Last Magic Mouse 2 is not compatible with the Mavericks 10.95 - and that stinks

It is not so much a question as an expression of stunned disappointment.  My old mouse Magic went kablooey, and so I got a new.  Unfortunately when I the paired with my MacPro 2012, running the Mavericks 10.95 (sorry Apple, you have not matched the Mavericks speed and performance with Yosemite and El Capitan) I discovered that features the touch like scrolling and swiping has not worked.

After an hour to read the little booklet that comes with the mouse, zap the PRAM, reset the SMC and usually ask myself? *  I watched the Magic Mouse box and found the answer in 3 grey dots on white type: requires OS 10,11 or higher.  All right.  Mea culpa, caveat emptor, blah blah.  I should have read through the entire page of the Magic Mouse on the Apple Store Web site, but I already have the product so don't figure there were many new take into account.

However, it seems strange to me that a completely necessary peripherals does not work with a BONE from a few years ago.

There are loyal customers (30 years of computer science and I have never used or owned a PC) who use your products as professional (I'm a sales manager of creation) and, for reasons that go beyond taste, prefer your earlier and faster OS.  Apple wants to move the herd along for many understandable reasons.  I do advertising.  I get it.  Offers new features and the "improvements" that Miss on users who refuse to put up-to-date is perfectly logical.  But prevents them from having a functional Apple mouse goes too far.  It will encourage strong armament and it stinks.

In light of Apple's strategy, it seems pretty ironic that the same company that once derided the PC world as thinkers authoritarian group straight out of Orwell is curve at this level to get its users to conform to his version of the future.  What the * happened to "Think Different"?

Good question, I guess, and I can only opine; as you know, we are here just volunteers.

The question is... when a company changes its products.   As I see it, different operating systems have developed over the years at a huge pace, such that cannot not could be foreseen four years ago.   So the Magic Mouse 1 was fine for the moment but did not have the ability to adapt to meet the current needs.     So what does Apple?   It must be a new mouse that will respond to current needs and anticipate the needs for some time in the future.

You can still buy the old MM1, although you might have to go hunting.   And of course, you can take the old one back if it was purchased less than 14 days ago in most countries and 28 days ago in the United Kingdom and most European countries, I believe.

I hope you get over your troubles.

  • From: Return to the Mavericks Yosemite

    Hello!

How can I downgrade Yosemite 10.10.5 (current operating system) back to the Mavericks? I'd rather have the look and performance of the Mavericks.

I don't have a Time Machine backup of the Mavericks any longer that I upgraded to Yosemite, about five months ago. Mavericks Time Machine would be to old to use anyway.

Installed Mavericks 10.9.5 on an external drive for now. I have everything there that I'll copy the external drive on the internal drive.  What are the options I have to get my files from Yosemite to the new installation of Mavericks?

    Thanks in advance!

    AJ

If you have the Mavericks installed on an external HARD drive, which prevents you to transfer data to the user from the HARD of Yosemite drive disk HARD the Mavericks?  Once you have the drive external HARD (with the Mavericks) set to your satisfaction, wipe the internal HARD drive and clone the HARD the Mavericks for the disk drive HARD internal.

You can use disk utility > restore or third party software such as Carbon Copy Cloner.  The two will also create the recovery partition.

    Ciao.

  • Can I run the Mavericks and Snow Leopard on my MacBook?

I have a mid-2009 MacBookPro (4 GB of RAM, 2.26 GHz) running Mavericks 10.9.5. I wish I never upgraded to Snow Leopard and was planning go back from iTunes (12.3.1) is now unable to find my library when I copied the files to my Time Capsule to a new HD post with the intention that the HD Ext. would be the new home for my iTunes library. I researched how to change the location of the library and followed the instructions but no luck. Many people, including my local tech, have suggested that this is because the Mavericks and editions of the latter to iTunes doesn't play well with my old MacBook and it has been suggested that I come back to Snow Leopard. I'm ready, but use the latest version of Aperture requiring (3.5.1) of the Mavericks, and given that Apple no longer supports opening there is no way to get 3.2.4, which is the last version that can run on Snow Leopard.

I'd be able to keep the Mavericks and use it only if you use Aperture while being able to install Snow Leopard, and use it for everything? My MacBook seems better to work on Snow Leopard but opening works well on the Mavericks.

I suppose that if I went down to iTunes 10.7 it would automatically get upgraded to the top without asking my permission, so there is no interest in any downgrades iTunes and it works on the Mavericks as a possible solution.

Boot from the DVD and use disk utility to create a new partition on the internal drive. Install Snow Leopard. You can then start in which operating system never sought.

  • Yet 5.1 crashing after upgrade to the Mavericks

    Hi all

Like many Mac users, I've recently updated to OS Mavericks. Since then, I had problems with still freeze everytime I try to import anything into it. I get constantly spinning wheel and finally have force quit, stop, restart. I'm currentlyrunning Creative Suite 5.5. I watched the upgrade to 6, but I don't really like the idea of a tax for every month forever, and it seems that there is no guarantee that this step would fix my problems. I'm not even certain that the Mavericks is the cause, but it's the only thing that has changed that I can think of 100%. Someone at - it suggestions?

    It happens too often.

I honestly lost count times I heard stories from one OS to another (it could still be called OS - X, but in reality each revision is a different OS, using the same name to maintain the myth of the "superiority of the Apple"). So many people I know who run Logic Audio & PT on the same system are getting this problem. They change the operating system and then half of their software simply will not run any failure of plugins, or else load in one application, but not the other, causing large amounts of time either to support online or on the phone to support trying to get things working again, but they usually blame everyone but Apple & themselves.

A change of operating system is an important thing and a very big deal indeed - before making such a drastic thing, it's really a good idea to do everything saure is compatible as well as ensure that all the drivers are also compatible too (cards sound cards, graphics etc.)

Never will be supported on Mavericks simply because it is the end of life - Sonic Solutions (who has obtained a license of the AuthorCore again to Adobe) have been swallowed by Rovi (whose business model is based on streaming on demand) who killed Sonic Solutions, at the end of 2012, finally withdraw all support on December 31, 2013. This affecvted Scenarist SD, Scenarist BD 4 and BD5, Code Total, CineVision, all this--gone. The argument was that "optical media are dead", but my cynical mind told me they saw an opportunity to take their main competitor out of the game and went for it. Companies that had spent tens of thousands of pounds on seriously expensive high-end creation & encoding tools suddenly were on their own with no support. Nice gesture, Rovi.

Another victim here was Adobe, who found themselves with no way to change the license to the authorcore then bye-bye yet. Adobe has made * No * stop supporting yet--people who bought Sonic Solutions he killed, and I don't see Adobe to start from scratch and build their own tool to make that development costs would be enormous.

    Alternatives?

On a Mac, very few - if any. On the top of my head, I can think of Sony Creative Software for PC (Vegas Pro 12 will be written but not reproducible disc) and DVD-logic (not too sure what are the OS supported - PC, certainly, but not at all sure of Mac). If you need to get replicated discs then AACS is a must and you have the possibility of the DoStudio or Blu-Print (Rivergate software created an add-on for reminder allow the formatting correct the BDCMF, but it also will likely not run the latest Mac OS).

In short, Sony are now the only player still active in the game and they do not work on Mac.

  • There is no feature to unlock by Apple Watch with the Mavericks

    Hello

I've updated my Mac Mini (2013) to the Mavericks but found no line under 'Security' in 'System Preferences' which gives me the option to unlock by Apple Watch? I have re-installed the software but still nothing appears. I've updated my iCloud with the "two factor authentication" settings and still nothing...

    Can someone help me please?

You say in your post that you have a Mac Mini in 2013, but your lower signature, color gray, says you have a Mac Mini from 2012.

    Who is this?

In any case, the unlock feature requires any model 2013 and later Mac running the new macOS Sierra (NOT OS X 10.9 Mavericks) using a Apple Watch, running watch OS 3 with an iPhone 5 or later.

Time for either to update hardware and software!

  • Cannot run the installation of the mavericks

I am trying to upgrade an old iMac running OS X 10.5. ?. I installed snow leopard and ran the update is now at 10.6.8. I had a copy of the Mavericks install on another system then I copied as the old iMac. When I run it, I get the following:

"This copy of the Mavericks install OS X cannot be verified. "It may have been corrupted or altered during the download.

I know that this facility has run on the machine, that I copied it from. I also tried to run an installation of El Capitan of a file and got the same message.

I did go to the app store and try to download the upgrade from there, but it gave me another error I'll put in a separate post.

I would be very happy to help

    Thank you

    John

Install both applications belong to your Apple ID or another Apple ID? If the latter, then you must use a copy of your Apple ID. You will not be able to download the Mavericks but you can download El Capitan. However, if the computer does not meet the system requirements then you may not able to upgrade past that Snow Leopard or you may only be able to upgrade to Lion.

If you have already purchased the Mavericks in with your Apple ID then you should be able to re - download it from your shopping list in the App Store. You also need to associate the computer with your Apple ID through preferences to iCloud.

  • How to get photos in iPhoto to e-mail using Chrome and the Mavericks

I would like to know how to copy quickly and easily photos that I receive in my email in iPhoto.

    I'm running the Mavericks 10.9.5

    I use Google Chrome

    I have iPhoto 9

I know I must upgrade the operating system to more recent, but do not like change.

    Thank you!

    Ginny

What is your e-mail client?  You should be able to control (on the right) - click on a photo in e-mail and elect to iPhoto import on the shortcut menu that appears.  If this isn't an option, just drag the photo on the desk and from there to the iPhoto in the Dock icon.

You know that iPhoto can no longer order any printed products, namely books, cards and calendars, printing products, Apple Store, right?  Also if you try to use the location of iPhoto feature it crash like iPhoto 9.4.3 and earlier, use the servers of Google Maps and they are no longer available to Apple.

  • Photos will work on the Mavericks?

Photos will work on the Mavericks? I'm not eager to update both BONES of my wife and her photo app

No, Photos is a part of Mac OS X and will be installed by OS X 10.10.3 or newer.  You can install pictures by installing an OS X version which includes the relevant system libraries.

Your wife is now running the Mavericks? Or what system you are upgrading?  with the Mavericks, she would need iPhoto 9.5.1 if it has previously used iPhoto. This update is no longer available on the appStore.
