  My wired microsoft optical mouse keeps freezing & the red light turns off. At present, it will work only after first off the entire computer & its reboot.   If your mouse cursor is jumping or jumping around the screen of your laptop, the first thing you can do is wipe the touchpad with a wet washcloth. If you use a laptop computer external mouse, you'll want to make sure to clean that, as well.
