• Connections limited to the OPA

  I was invited to consider a direct problem we have where we seem to have a bottleneck call OPA. The high-level design is the client runs as a WCF service and as it divides the work do it creates new threads which in turn call OPA running on another box running under IIS. The call is through the standard OPA .net API.
  
  Looking at the newspapers Threading seems to work and when it is under load, you can see it spawning a lot of threads that call the OPA. However if you look at the connections open on the server of the OPA these never exceed 8 per UC.
  
  Initial thoughts are that the problem is
  
  • Our calling code is broken the way our code breaks a piece of work in parallel threads (this seems to be a behavior although I'm not sure that we have more complicated questions)
  • The packaging we wrote that uses the API of the OPA (seems to follow the standard so low possibility of mires)
  • The OPA provided API is limited somehow. May be related to how it manages its own security in a singleton.
  • The implementation of IIS hosting OPA (the created connections are so low, I think that there is a low possibility)
  • What we are seeing is a Kipper and I must go and find out how IIS opens and manages connections
  • Somethings a failure on the network between the 2 boxes
  
  Am I missing something obvious side OPA?

  According to my experience, it is very likely to be the IIS configuration in the box of the OPA.

  Configure IIS to run fast the OPA is somewhat a form of art and well beyond what I write in these pages! Assuming you are using ODS (not OWD because it requires a different configuration, as it is with State) initially to check

  1. you have a separate application for OPA Pool
  2. If you use IIS 7.5 you operate in integrated pipeline mode
  3. set the application pool of minimal supervision, small expirations etc.. ODS simply doesn't have things like "Load User Profile" and all the stuff of type normal website because he is stateless

  When you have this setup correctly and then look at your WCF - especially the application .config file configuration (or web) and make sure that you have a management connection under system.net tag. You can override the default behavior of the connection. This is the configuration OF your WCF ON the server of the OPA - effectively your WCF acts as a client of OPA in this case, the connection behavior must be the appellant, not the callee.

  Alos, it may be that you need to make changes to your machine.config on client or server file

• Should the Tomcat when the OPA with Siebel testing on dev local machine?

  I'm seeing if I can install an environment of test-to-end on my dev machine. Basically, I want to write a few rules and trigger in Siebel on my machine before I push anything on the server. I know that the OPM has integrated Tomcat and I was wondering if I could use in a way that instead of installing a stand alone Tomcat on my PC.
  
  Anyone know if this is possible and what I need to configure to make it happen?

  Short answer: No, tomcat is not necessary, any server or IIS for .NET, Java application will work

  Longer answer:

  Siebel and OPA communicate through Web Services and the OPA can be installed on a standard Java application server.

  The steps for Siebel and OPA working together are described in policy Oracle Automation Connector for Siebel Setup Guide, but basically, they work as follows.

  1. install the server of determinations and conclusions of Web on an application suiitable Server (any application server j2ee compatible should do).
  2. for determinations Server, make sure that you know what is the URL of the assessment exercise (tests it is strongly recommended).
  3 configure outbound web services in Siebel to appeal determinations Server.
  4 determinations of Web, to make Siebel Web Server Extensions installed and installed the OPA for Siebel connector. This creates the appropriate incoming Web services in Siebel.
  5. change the siebel-data - adapt .properties in determinations of the Web to the location of the incoming Web Services referred to in 4. (see above).

  The best source of detailed information on the OPA for Siebel connector (including samples and tutorials) is the documentation of the product itself.

  There will be a new version of the connector for Siebel released later this week, including the updated documentation with version 10 of OPA OPA. I suggest that you download connector for Siebel delivery v10.0 OPA and take a look on:

  As far as I KNOW Firefox displays the metric or Imperial depending on the type of paper selected for printing. If you are using A4, you should get millimeters/metric.

I reformatted and retryed with the same result. I tried a different HARD disk, but got the same trouble. I also tried installing XP Pro after a reformat and got the same error.   Our project aims to automate the migration process models of political Test for Production environment. We use the OPA Cloud Aug2015, but if I understand correctly, we can enter the private cloud installation command-line tool and also run in the cloud.

  So, I downloaded the private cloud, edited the admin.cmd file to indicate download_project and provided the parameters and ran the command line.  However he just kept running and running for more than 15 minutes already, so I closed thinking that there is something wrong.  The zip file I download is only 800ko in size.

  Has anyone been able to use this feature from command line?  Please tell us what I have missed.  (Is there a specific place to save the file admin.cmd to ? Is it supposed to take a long time to complete)

  You must run the admin.cmd from its original location in the private cloud installation bin directory, but you should immediately get an error if you run it from elsewhere.

  I'm not sure what you mean when you say you "edited the admin.cmd file to indicate download_project and provided the parameters" you should not have to modify this file, just run it with the required parameters as you describe.

  Can you watch the OPA hub management console and see if there is something in the log messages can indicate what could go wrong.

  Instead of the page summary integrated OPA, we plan to create the PHP to capture from the OPA interview Assistant business page.

  Is there a way to capture the output of the OPA in XML format to send it to the contents of PHP page?

• More quick REST API / JSON approaches to the interviews of the OPA?

  I recognize there are services / libraries that can convert an OPA Web Service deployment on the hub to a JSON / REST API.  (Examples: Mashape I used for the other REMAINS in the SOAP proxy).

  But, is there a consensus on the more common approach / best to this operation?  Is there an approach that may be more in line with the future development of the OPA hub around REST API?  I think I saw something with Oracle Cloud Computing Mobile Service, but I cannot find enough documentation to the CEP with.

  It occurs to me, that instead of researching the topic for an hour or more, I could have benefits more ask on the forum.

  Paul, my quick view is that whatever you do will be OK, because even once we add REST API, existing SOAP API will remain for backward compatibility reasons.

  It would also be impossible to build compatibility for something we have not designed yet, so I can't really all guide on what to do / avoid in order to simplify any possible future transition official rest API.

• Loops rule in the clouds of the OPA

  Hi OPA developers,.

  We currently use the OPA Cloud (may 2015) for the requirements on annual sales.  Unfortunately found an error of loop rule to requirements such as:

  * an e balance at beginning of the yearmust be equal to its previous year-end balance less pension his previous year of

  * but a balance end of year is equal to balance at the beginning of the year more value temp of the year

  The year is an entity.  Balance of year and end of year sale run loop in a debugger because even if we refer to the previous year, he always uses the same entity instance attribute.  Loop rule is not supported in the cloud (as opposed to how we can configure the properties of the rule in the version on site).

  Please let know us if you have a work around to do this.  The only alternative we have is to turn them into global attributes and enter the number of the year in the name, such as the balance of the year 2nd = 1st year sale - 1 year temp value, balance of 3 year = 2nd year balance - 2nd year temp value, etc.  But then, it is instances of entity year 100 x each attribute start and end loop so it will be a very large document/s for us to create and to business users to maintain.

  If all goes well there is something we can use entity and relationship functions... but always try to figure out how to do.  Any help is very appreciated!

  Unfortunately there is no support for rule lines in the version of may 2015.  We are looking for by adding back to a later version.

  I'm guessing that your example is simplified, but you wrote it you don't need a loop of rule to solve.  The final value is just:

  InstanceSum (years, value temp of the year) - InstanceSum (the years, pension year of)

  We have a requirement for the integration of the OPA 10.4 with Oracle E - business suite.

  The condition is hypocritical:

  (1) EBS can call rules of the takeover bid on any screen - I think that this will be achieved by Oracle determinations Server (ODS) with probably a middleware between both to facilitate the exchange of webservice.

  Request- I just wanted to know if there is another way to better or if it is only best option?

  Are there examples of projects or pointers that can help us get a better understanding of the present?

  (2) given certain conditions of release in EBS, the modules of the OPA may be invoked, but this time there may be a few involved OPA interview screens.

  Request- How to proceed and achieve this goal?

  (1) it is for an older version of OPA, but you might find something useful in this tutorial.

  (2) launch a browser window in passing a single parameter "caseid" to OPA startsession URL, so that a data adapter that you write can load and save data interviews of EBS based on the id of the object.

  Private cloud 12.1 of the OPA of just downloaded and installed.  Want to test mobile features interviews, but it seems that it is not possible by default to allow interviews or compatible mobile users.  Is this something that needs to be configured, or is this feature not available immediately?

  Hi Faraz,

  If you go to your MySQL database and find the config_property table, you will find a field that will allow mobile, feature_mobile_enabled. The default value is set to off (0) so just it set to 1, then you should get the option of mobile use in the hub of 12.1.
