The printer is not connected.

I'm about to trash this HP Officejet 6500 Wireless.  I've had it for maybe a few years.  I've never had problems as many with her until the last "update".  Once the problems have been perpetual.  Never, I can print when I want to.  I am running Windows Pro 8.1; 64-bit; Intel i7-2600.  Although it is a 'Wireless' printer I have connected by a USB cable.  When I installed the "update" the printer worked.  The next time I came back that he did not do; that it was not "connected to the computer.  I reinstalled the 'update'; It worked.  Days later he didn't; say that it was not connected.  I restarted. . several times.  I used another cable from the printer.  I've tried different USB ports.  I went to the Panel, devices and printers to see if I could see anything.  I don't.  I open the HP Solution Center.  No help.

I'm out of ideas.  I need/want something reliable.  I'm pulling my hair out.  I can't reinstall the "update" whenever I want to print.  It's nuts.

If anyone has a solution I have to abandon my relationship with HP.

Hi OzzieButchand thanks for the answer!

I recommend to download and run the uninstall of the Microsoft FIx - It tool facet:

    Hi @jpkeates,

    Welcome to the HP Forums!

I understand that you can not print with your HP Envy 4500, once he falls asleep on your computer Mac OS X 10.11. I'm happy to help you!

Please, try the steps in this guide, "printer offline" or "printer not responding" Message (OS X). It is also important to ensure that:

Make sure that the multicast is supported

If you use a wireless network, make sure that muticasting is supported and enabled on your router.

If the new connection is working, you know that the printing problem is tied to the computer.

If the new connection does not work, then the printer may need to be repaired or printed using a different type of connection.

    Disable IPv6 (network connection)

Disable IPv6 on the printer to make sure IPv4 is used on your network.

If your printer has a control panel with display, find the IPv6 settings in the advanced network configuration menu and set it to Off or disabled.

If your printer does not display, use the built-in web server (EWS) to disable IPv6.

From a computer on your network, type the IP address of the printer in the field URL of your Internet browser.

    NOTE:

If the Web page appears empty, try another Internet browser.

Click on the tab network or network, and then open the section or page corresponding to your type of network - wired or wireless.

Select enable IPv4 only (or similar).

  • HP Premium 8600 - using OSX 10.9.4 with wireless and don't keep saying the printer is not connected

Use the printer for a few months with no problems.  Now, out of the blue, I can't print.  Keeps telling me that "the printer is not connected" and "search for printer.  I see that the printer's system preferences.  So the printer is there. Why is this suddenly happening?

If I disable wireless to the printer and then turn it back on, I can print maybe one or two times and then get the same message.

    What is the problem here?

    Hello

Please, try unplugging your router from the power for 10 seconds, plug it back and leave 2 minutes to initialize.

Then turn your printer off and turn it back on and allow it to reconnect.

    You can see any difference?

If this isn't the case, please also restart the Mac and check for the difference.

  • Photosmart 6510 "the printer could not connect to the server.

    Hi all.

Just try to find this sorted hope someone can help.

I am able to print irelessly of all our devices with no problems at all.

However, when I click on the control panel applications he repeats me "the printer could not connect to the verification of the server of the internet connection and try again or enter a proxy address.

I use an Imac with airport wifi router.

Doing a search in the forums and on the manuals troble shooting pages, nothing seems to work.

    Thanks in advance.

Let's define an external static IP and DNS address for the printer:

-Print a the front of the printer Network Setup Page. Note the IP address of the printer.
-Enter the IP address in a browser to reveal the internal settings of the printer.
-Choose the network tab, then wireless along the left side, then on the IPv4 tab.
-On this screen, you want to set a manual IP address. You must assign an IP address outside the range that the router sets automatically (called the DHCP range). Yours is 10.0.1.2 a.200.  We use 10.0.1.220 for your printer.
-Apply the subnet 255.255.255.0 (unless you know it's different, if so, use it)
-Enter the IP of your router (on the Page of the Network Config) for the gateway.
-Enter for the first DNS 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 for second DNS. It's Google DNS. You can choose a different external DNS if you wish.
    -Click 'apply '.

Now, stop the router and printer, start the router, wait, and then start printing.

After that, you will have to redo 'Add printer' using the new IP address.

    Very frustrated customer :-(

    Hi @roopuk,

Thanks for getting back to me.

Sometimes the manual DNS 8.8.8.8 / 8.8.4.4 won't work in some configurations of network users.  Try the same steps as described above, but this time use the following parameters:

    Manual preferred DNS Server: 209.244.0.3
    Auxiliary manual DNS server: 209.244.0.4

If you encounter the error, as before, we take our proverbial gloves off to try a more intensive troubleshooting.

What is happening, it is that your router allows your printer connection that to enable wireless, but not a secondary connection to Web services.  In order to get these devices to 'shake hands' a second time, you may need to enable DMZ mode on your network through the router's built-in Web server.  HP does usually not this configuration for its customers as errors can cause serious network problems, but I can certainly post the info you need on your router or the ISP of the staff support company so that they could help you directly.

Here is the information that you need for your provider service to open ports on your router/modem...

    -Multicast must be enabled
-Hello enabled for AirPrint (relevant for iOS and Mac OS users)
    -Mac filtering should be disabled
-Also, make sure that your router's firmware to date if
    necessary
    - The dmz on the router mode and turn it on to the printers IP address: _

Ports to open are: Eprint and Apps

    Incoming Ports.

    UDP
    80
    443
    ------------------
    Outbound ports

    TCP
    5222
    5223
    -------------------
Once they are open, you should have no problems connecting to services web eprint on your device.

I would like to know how it works for you.

    Kind regards

    Ok. Two ideas:

Apple System Preferences > printers and Scanners > right click on your printer > reset Printing System.

If this does not work, uninstall your printer.  (Select the printer, and then click the symbol less).

Go to the site of the manufacturer of your printer, get the latest driver package and install it. Reset. Try again the function print.

  • Printer (8500) not connected (wireless) as I am updating to the mountain

I have updated to OS x Lion mountain last week and were unable to make the printer work since then.  The printer works perfectly on Snow Leopard, but now whenever I try and print a document I tells me that the printer is not connected.  I tried a USB cable but have had the same results.  My computer is an iMac running OSX version 10.8  My printer is an Officejet Pro 8500A910a.  Thanks for your help.   SamO66

  • Sharing printers has stopped working for me. MacBook Air "think" printer is not connected.

Sharing printers has stopped working for me. I have an Epson Stylus Photo R340 connected by USB to my Mac Mini end of 2012, and until recently, my MacBook Air has been able to print to it. Now, he 'thinks' the printer is not connected. Computers are on WiFi. Both computers have an OS X 10.11.5 now and the latest driver of Epson printer. Printer sharing is enabled in preferences, sharing, and "Share this printer on the network" is checked in the preferences, printers and Scanners. I went through the hoops to remove the printer and add it again on the Mini and the MacBook Air.

Of course, the Mini prints very well via USB. Someone has an idea (that I have not already tried) how to get the sharing of printers to work again?

Other sharing services work, such as the file and screen sharing?

  • HP DESKJET Ink Advantage 2135: My printer is not connecting to my computer

I get a weird message from windows 'the last device you connected is not recognized by windows. I don't know how to solve this problem. Help, please

    Hello Kostas2

Usually, the best way to resolve this type of problem is to uninstall the printer and then reinstalling it again.

Download the full recommended software here...

    DJ2130_61.exe (115.8 MB)

Turn off the printer, then unplug the USB from the computer.

Right-click on Start, choose Control Panel> programs> uninstall a program.

Uninstall everything about the HP printer , including the printer, HP image zone, Director of HP's image, or what is installed on your system.

Also uninstall all other printers (if any) that you do not use.

Restart the computer and the printer (do not connect the USB cable again).

Right-click on Start and choose Control Panel> hardware and sound> devices and printers and make sure that the printer is no more. If that is the case, then right-click on it and choose Remove the instrument.

Install the downloaded software and drivers from above. Follow the instructions that it will ask you to plug the USB cable into the computer.

Let me know how it goes.

  • Printer will not connect, do not accept access code

    Hello

I have a HP Officejet 4500 G510n-z.  We have been connected to a wireless network, then moved. We kept our same cable service, etc.  I tried to print from the same computer, but you get the status message that the printer is not connected.  The wireless light is on, I have turned off the power to the printer and the router, on again.  I have checked my router password and have tried several times to enter every other option password we have, but still not wrong password message.  I have Windows Vista and do not know what else to try.  Is there a way to completely circumvent the password option?  Thank you very much!

Thanks for getting back to me. I have check the router password. I decided to uninstall/reinstall the printer and it is fine now.

  • HP deskjet 2540: HP 2540 printer will not connect to new router

Hi, we just changed internet service providers and the printer will not connect to the new router, our HP laptop computer presents the printer in the list of network devices / wireless, but will not accept the password of network to the router when I ask him to connect. Makes me crazy! I have re-installed software etc. to connect the drive and make me anywhere I hope someone can help!

    Dave.

Replacement/change your wireless router, try here.

    http://www.HP.com/global/au/en/wireless/reconfiguring-system-Help3.html

Make sure that your router is set to a fixed channel wireless as the 1, 6 or 11, never 'auto '.  Try channel 1 first and then the other one at a time.  Make sure that the printer and the router are spaced at least 5 feet.

However, if you have a gateway device (modem + router), all gateway devices are terrible for connectivity and wireless performance.   If this does not work, suggest you put this bridge in full bridge mode device and install your own router of high quality that YOU have full control over.

  • P1606dn: printer is not connecting

    Dear Forum,

I have this problem with my hp laserJet p1606dn printer:

I can ping the IP address of the printer. However, I can not print, it says "the printer is not connected" whenever I try to print a word document file, or any page on the network. When I used the USB cable to print, it prints very well.

On the Self Test / Configuration page of the device, he said "ONE ERROR UNKNOWN HAS OCCURRED" on the network information page

This printer is shared on the network and connected to the network through a switch, so everyone in the network can use it.

I also checked the CAT 5 cable to the printer to the switch port, change the cable around, but it still print.

And also, when I entered the IP address in the browser, the page of the printer will not come to the top.

    Any ideas please?

What happens if you ping the address with the cable disconnected from the printer.  Sometimes, when a printer is disabled and a computer is turned on, it captures the ip address of the printer if you now have a conflict.  If it pings with unplug the cable that would confirm one of the computers or other devices ip took the address.

The problem is with the sending of faxes.   I tried all of the suggestions I've seen on this forum... eprint ups turning - on, replacing addresses DNS serverver 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 respectively, unplug and plug back.  Uninstalling and reinstalling printer.  Nothing works.  Suggestions more?  I'm not tech savy, so simple answers are the best.  The only thing that has changed is on my network, I added a HP6520 printer.

    Hi @ginger12459,

Welcome to the Forums of HP's Support.  I understand that you are unable to access the eFax on your printer Photosmart 7510.

I've included a link to a post from @PrintApper about eFax called eFax users - please read.  It has information on the eFax service.
