The problem of creating an extra address in Outlook Express.

I have a problem, create an additional address in Outlook Express. This question arises because my ISP has recently changed from Tiscali to Talktalk. I find that I have to use the old tiscali for outgoing mail smtp server, but I can't receive mail if I use the server talktalk or tiscali. Any advice?

Discuss with the technical support of Talktalk. The problem would be the same if you use Outlook, Thunderbird, Eudora, etc and is not a matter of OE. They don't did you not the correct settings. Ask to speak to a technician level 2 If you do not get satisfaction.

  • copy the address book Outlook Express for Hotmail - can't get in Outlook Express

copy the address book Outlook Express for Hotmail - can't get in Outlook Express.

Lately I often can't get into my Outlook email.  I know that I can use Hotmail, but I need my address book. I know that it has to see with the Qwest no longer carring MSN.   Can you tell me how to recover or to carry it?

Thank you, Cookie 303-371-6295 or 303-931-4632

The address book is a file with an extension of wab file.  Search for *.wab and then you can click on it to open it.  You can then go to file | Export | Address book, then save it as a csv file.  To import into Hotmail, as in this case: www.windowslivehelp.com because it is where are the experts of Hotmail.

    1. In Windows XP, Win2K & Win2K3 the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder Options icon | Opinion, or in Windows Explorer. Tools | Folder options | View.
    2. Do a search, then search for *.wab
    3. If you find your address book, open the address book in OE and then file | Import | Address book (wab) and navigate to the location that you found it in.

You must leave a copy of messages on the server checked on one or two machines.

Tools | Accounts | Mail | Properties | Advanced - uncheck: leave a copy of messages on the server.

If you want to ride a few days, but not always, leave the option checked on both machines, but on a single computer only, check for delete after X days.

  • Problem with the display new message and forward messages in outlook express

I have Windows xp, IE 8, outlook Express 6.0.  A few days before, Outlook express auto off refreshing, corrected, but now when I try to foreword or send a new message, the message is barely visible on the right side of my screen.  I can only move it by right click on the mouse is on the edge of the screen, and maximize hitting her, then it's full screen.  Other users on that account appear correctly, screens.  How can I get the screen to display correctly

Right-click on the tab of the window in the task bar and select move. Now, use the arrow keys to get to the screen. Close all other windows except this one and use the cursor to drag the message to the desired size. File | Output and Windows will remember the size and location when you open it again.

So who disobeys, try in a new identity. File | Identities | Add the new identity. Create a new one and try it. If all goes well, you can import your messages and address book from the old identity and delete it.

Note: Do not use the main word in the name of the new identity.

  • How do you create a message rule in outlook express when the subject line contains symbols

I get emails when the subject line contains square boxes.  I tried to create a message for when rule the subject contains these square boxes, but cannot do so.

    Any suggestions?

    Thank you.

Then, it will not work. Unless the messages are always of the same address, or a domain, so the only option I see is of filter in your mail.

Start with the only rule of AddressBook and you receive a message that you want people not in your address book (E-mail from companies, bills, your ISP, etc), you can add them to the rule.

Tools | Message rules | Mail | New.

    Box 1 - Where the From line contains people {check it out}

Box 2 - Check: delete it & stop processing more rules if you want messages not in the address book to go to deleted items, or you can create a spam folder and direct them here.

You can choose to delete the server, but be careful because you never have messages downloaded to any folder, if you choose this option.

Box 3 - Click on the blue words contains people

Click on the first address to select it. Scroll to the end and hold down the SHIFT key while you click the last address. This will highlight all. Right-click on it and click on from the menu that appears.

Now, click Options and choose: Message * contains no of * the people below in the top of the page Options area, then choose: Message corresponds to one of the people below in the background Options box.

OK your way out of the new rule.

Now, only the addresses that you entered will be uploaded to your Inbox. You won't see other emails.

Remember, if you add a person to your address book, you must add to the rule. It will not automatically be added.

Be sure to see these links for more options.

  • Problems with receiving mail through Comcast in Outlook Express

I have a situation very similar to others in this form. I can send emails in Outlook Express via comcast, but cannot receive and have nothing in my Inbox more. Everything in personal folders is always there.

Here is that I get the error message: an unknown error has occurred. Account: "mail.comcast.net', server: 'mail.comcast.net', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, secure (SSL): no, error number: 0x800C0133

The recovery tool that talked about the shape will bring all my folders and sent mail?

For the record, I remember not anything in the instructions which says that we should never back up our Inbox.

Another question.  My emails are still sitting on the comcast servier.  Is it possible to download in my outlook express and if so, how?

    Thank you for your help.

If you are satisfied with just the messages on the server, see Option 1. If you want all messages back, see Option 2.

    Option 1

Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

With OE closed, find the box of Inbox.dbx and Pop3uidl.dbx file, and delete them.  A new Inbox will be waiting when you open OE and need to download messages. will be created automatically when you open OE.

    Option 2

Two reasons the most common for what you describe is disruption of the compacting process, (never touch anything until it's finished), or bloated folders. More about that below.

Why OE insists on compacting folders when I close it? :

    About file Corruption:
    http://www.Microsoft.com/Windows/IE/community/columns/filecorruption.mspx

    Recovery methods:

If you use XP/SP2 or SP3, and are fully patched, then you should have a backup of your dbx files in the Recycle Bin (or possibly the message store), copied as bak files.

To restore a folder bak on the message store folder, first find the location of the message store.

Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

In Windows XP, the .dbx files are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in the Solution Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder options | View.

Close OE and in Windows Explorer, click on the dbx to the file missing or empty file, then drag it to the desktop. It can be deleted later once you have successfully restored the bak file. Minimize the message store.

Open OE and, if the folder is missing, create a folder with the * exact * same name as the bak file you want to restore but without the .bak. For example: If the file is Saved.bak, the new folder should be named saved. Open the new folder, and then close OE. If the folder is there, but just empty, continue to the next step.

First of all, check if there is a bak file already in the message. If there is, and you have removed the dbx file, go ahead and rename it in dbx.

If it is not already in the message, open the trash and do a right-click on the file bak for the folder in question and click on restore. Open the message store up and replace the .bak by .dbx file extension. Close the message store and open OE. Messages must be in the folder.

If messages are restored successfully, you can go ahead and delete the old dbx file that you moved to the desktop.

If you have not then bak copies of your dbx files in the Recycle Bin:

DBXpress run in extract disc Mode is the best chance to recover messages:

    ______________________________

No matter which option you choose, please take account of these warnings warning to avoid this in the future.

Do not archive mail in default OE folders. They finally are damaged. Create your own folders defined by the user for mail storage and move your mail to them. Empty the deleted items folder regularly. Keep user created folders under 300 MB, and also empty as is possible to default folders.

Disable analysis in your e-mail anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer of protection that devours the CPUs, slows down sending and receiving and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs, account setting changes and has even been responsible for the loss of messages. Your up-to-date A / V program will continue to protect you sufficiently. For more information, see:
