The streaming of Media Center PC on Xbox 360 problems after recent updates

I've been streaming video of my Media Center PC on my Xbox 360 for about a month now.  I've never had problems until I installed the new update today.  Now I can listen to just a show for about 5 minutes then my PC freezes.  My configuration is:

  • Windows 7 (64-bit)
  • NVIDIA GTX295 1 GB video card
  • 8 GB of DDR2 memory

If there is no additional info that could help please let me know.

Thank you

Robert

Hello

1. remember you number updates that you have installed?

Use the homegroup troubleshooter.
a. Please open Control Panel and click on troubleshooting.
b. click on "Network and Internet", then select the homegroup.
c. troubleshooting tool find the cause and fix the problem? If this isn't the case, please move on next steps.

Method 2.
Check the following relevant services.
a. click "Start", type "services.msc" (without the quotes) in the search bar and press ENTER.
Note: If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password, or click on continue.
b. right click on the "Peer Networking Identity Manager" service and click Properties.

e. delete all files and folders inside.
f. start the following service gain: Peer Networking Identity Manager

Method 3.
You can disable the anti-virus software and check if that causes this behavior.
Temporarily disable the security software installed on the computer and check if the problem persists.
Disable the anti-virus software
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/disable-antivirus-software

Important note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.
Method 4.
If the steps above do not better work that you can do is to perform a restore system just before the point where the problem occurred.
I have listed a few articles that explain the system restore in Windows 7.
System Restore: frequently asked questions

I hope this helps.

  • Vista Media Center and my Xbox 360 extender connection

Hi I have a problem connecting my xbox 360 and my windows vista media center. Everytime I try I get the message saying that it can't find the range extender and suggests that it is one of the following three things

    (1) the Extender is turned on and connected to the network

It's on and it appears as an icon of the xbox 360 in my network on the vista machine and can connect to the internet, so I guess the network very well.

    (2) that the code is correct

It's that I checked it about 30 or twice now.

    (3) UPnP does not work properly

I guess that's the problem but cannot figure out how to solve. I have a BT Homehub router. I've implemented through active UPnp. I even tried to disable the firewall completely on it and on vista, it made no difference to the port forwarding doesn't seem to be the answer.

  • Windows Media Center Extender for Xbox 360. "Configuration error".

My setup is step 120 failure. I've tried EVERYTHING. There is never a certificate to remove. I disabled my firewall, tried to join a different workgroup. I tried every fix I could find on these forums and forums of windows 7. One thing that I notice it is whenever I restart the installer on xbox and get a key of 8 different figures, when I go to the installation on the PC it always shows the last digits of the key I tried initially the installation failed. It won't let me not uninstall the Extender, there just a configuration option. That makes me crazy is there no solution for this? My God, it's been a year!

Yes, it's been a year since I've tried last. I was avoiding reinstall them. I just installed a fresh copy of Windows 7 and got it up and running instantly. I think that the problem of errors where there is no group policy on the machine and it was impossible to create a certificate. Problem solved.

  • Media Center Extender and xbox - version question

I've been recently using WMC TV recording, but I can't get the message to my TV. I think of buying any old Xbox console to get the Extender. -I really hate on the games-just the Extender. Is there a certain version of the Xbox that I have Extender? Thank you.

    Hi Dean,

Thanks for posting this question in the Microsoft Community.

You can go through the article to learn more about setting up a Windows Media Center.

If you have an Extender that worked with Windows Vista, it should work with Windows 7. For example, the Xbox 360, which includes the built-in Media Center Extender functionality will work with Windows 7.

Former dilution models that have been developed for use with Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 do not work with Windows 7. I suggest you to be sure to read the fine print on the expansion box before you buy.

Hope this information was helpful and let us know if you need assistance in the future. We will be happy to help you.

This looks like one of three things is unhealthy

    (1) your installation disc

    (2) your RAM

    (3) your hard drive,

You must test each and then determine if its more cost effective to replace the unit or machine.

    (1) test the drive in another machine with IsoBuster - an analysis of surface and find if everything is OK if there are some errors present

    (2) tΘlΘcharger a RAM www.memtest.org - run at least 8 passes Tester and see if errors appear

    (3) download the utility from control of the manufacturer of the HD and create the bootable CD - do a quick scan and then the long scan of the hard drive and see what it reports.

Unfortunately, you can not install Windows Media Center in home or Pro.

You will need to purchase a new DVD of WMC 2005.

They are cheap now and I saw them on the Web for about $60

Do a search and you will find them.
