The system at startup failure: error 0xc0000098

When I start my computer. I get an error message tiltled WINDOWS STARTUP MANAGER. Windows could not start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To solve the problem, it says to insert the file installation disc: \windows\system32\drivers\NIS\1008000.029\SYMEFA. SYS status: 0xc0000098 original title: System failure

Hello

SYMEFA. SYS says Norton (Symantec). So, I would like to confirm if Norton (Symantec) is running on the system. The problem may be caused by the incompatible Norton (Symantec) with the hardware or software you installed recently.

In this case, because the system is unable to start up normally, I suggest that we first of all a Safe Mode to uninstall Norton (Symantec) to check the issue.

Uninstall Norton (Symantec) in Mode safe
==========================================
1. reboot the computer and start pressing the F8 on the keyboard key. On a computer that is configured to start to multiple operating systems, please press the F8 key when you see the boot menu.
2. when the Windows Advanced Options menu appears, select Safe Mode, and then press ENTER.
3 log on to Windows by using the administrator account or any user account with administrator privileges.

Note: In Safe Mode, the display system and the Bureau will look and perform differently than in Normal Mode. This is only temporary. To return to Normal Mode from the system, we can simply restart the computer.

To uninstall Norton Internet Security, please run Norton Removal Tool.

Note: If the following tool cannot be downloaded via Safe Mode, I suggest we first download it on a different computer and then copy it to the problematic original computer to install it.

4. Please visit the following Web site to download the tool:

http://Service1.Symantec.com/support/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2005033108162039

5. save the tool for Windows Vista desktop.

    Hi all

    Thank you for your support. I solved the problem. Find the info below.

    ===================================================================================================

    Question: Like I said existing VM is cloned VM. Then after we had changed the host name. I checked the database alert log file:

    Before the reboot: name of the node was the previous still node name VM that it functioned very well. (for ex: xyz.domain)

    After the reboot: name of the node is replaced by the new host name. (for ex: abc.domain)

    Once the name of the node is changed he started creating problem in starting the application services.

    One last thing, I want to mention here after hostname change, approval of new contextfile has 700, but it should be 755.

    Solution: I followed these steps.

    (1) stop all services on the LAYERS of the DB and APP

    (2) change the new contextfile permission if not 755 and the .env at the level of the source DB

    (3) cd $ORACLE_HOME/appsutil/bin and run as: perl adgentns.pl appspass = apps contextfile = $CONTEXT_FILE - removeserver

    (4) change the name from old host to the new host name, so find in contextfile.

    (5) start listener, then the database

    (6) listener status, it must must give service to the db instance

    (7) perform autoconfig with new contextfile (DB Tier)

    (8) perform autoconfig (pane APP)

    (9) start all services

  • Failure of Windows Vista and the SafeMode of startup failure - crcdisk.sys

    Hello

    I have a Dell Inspiron laptop computer 2 GB RAM. He had a few months now, and everything has been fine.

    Started a few days ago from freezing occasionally so I was forced to restart. CTRL + ALT + DELETE has refused to do anything and so I had to manually remove the battery.

    A frozen about three times and then once rebooted showed the BSOD saying something the system failure.

    So I rebooted once more and now it restarts just without going on the login screen. I tried to run in safe mode, but it gets stuck on crcdisk.sys or goes in an endless process to restart again.

    Is there anyway that I might be able to get back on without doing a full factory reset, as I have all my work stored on the hard drive integrated without backup.

    I can open the system recovery options, but none of these options seem to work. All my points of recovery have been removed.

    Startup Repair doesn't indicate a problem with the system, so I thought maybe it was a virus? The same thing happened to my wife a few days ago computer and that uses the same Wifi network as me.

    Jacob.

    To search for malicious software, you must do in Mode safe mode with networking, but you say that you can not get the Options.

    There is information below data recovery.

    And Startup Repair Info, too.

    Data recovery:

    1. slave of your hard drive in another computer and read/save your data out there.

    2. put your Hard drive in a USB hard drive case, plug it into another computer and read/save from there.

    3 Alternatively, use Knoppix Live CD to recover data:

    http://www.Knopper.NET/Knoppix/index-en.html

    Download/save the file Knoppix Live CD ISO above.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    http://isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/isorecorder.htm
    Download the Vista software from the link above.
    After installing above ISO burning software, right click on the Knoppix ISO file > copy the Image to a CD.
    Knoppix is not installed on your PC; use only the resources of your PC, RAM, graphics etc.
    Change the boot order in YOUR computer/laptop to the CD/DVD Drive 1st in the boot order.
    Plug a Flash Drive/Memory Stick, BOOT with the Live CD, and you should be able to read the hard drive.
    When the desktop loads, you will see at least two drive hard icons on the desktop (one for your hard drive) and one for the USB key.
    Click on the icons of hard drive to open and to understand which drive is which.
    Click the icon for the USB drive and click on "Actions > Change the read/write mode" so you can write to disk (it is read-only by default for security reasons).
    Now to find the files you want to back up, just drag and drop them on the USB. When you're done, shut down the system and remove the USB key.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    If Safe Mode does not and you do not have a Vista DVD from Microsoft, do a repair disc to do a Startup Repair:

    Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.

    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.

    When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial148.html

    Link above shows what the process looks like and a manual, it load the repair options.

    NeoSmart containing the content of the Windows Vista DVD 'Recovery Centre', as we refer to him. It cannot be used to install or reinstall Windows Vista, and is just a Windows PE interface to recovering your PC. Technically, we could re-create this installation with downloadable media media freely from Microsoft (namely the Microsoft WAIK, several gigabyte download); but it is pretty darn decent of Microsoft to present Windows users who might not be able to create such a thing on their own.

    Read all the info on the website on how to create and use:

    ISO Burner: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/active-isoburner.html

    It's a very good Vista startup repair disk.

    You can do a system restart tool, system, etc it restore.

    It is NOT a disc of resettlement.

    And the 32-bit is what normally comes on a computer, unless 64-bit.

  • Satellite Pro U200-10I - how to disable the system at startup control upward?

    : x Hi,.

    I have Toshiba Satellite Pro U200-10I and I want to disable the control system, as it is a long time to start machine. Is there a way to Devil who?

    Nedd your help! : D

    Hello

    Just checking the system do you mean exactly?
    Is this based on Windows or BIOS based?

    If you mean the ScanDisk in Windows startup you can disable it in the registry:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Session Manager
    Change the BootExecute entry to: autocheck autochk *.

    After that restart the ScanDisk is disabled and doesn't appear at Windows startup.

  • delete the system registry startup programs

    OK, I know I can use msconfig and windows defender to remove/disable startup programs.

    But some programs on a computer have a mind of its own and keep reinitialsing each time I restart my computer.

    I keep having to disable it process using the Task Manager. There are a dozen of programs that constantly to do this.

    the computer is a dual core 2.66gh 32-bit Windows vista. I have no disk Vista so I can't do a full reformat.

    the computer is also running emensly I suspect a slow virus. I'm unraveling this computer for a friend who has installed the wich following programs, I feel are contradictory, so I try for a clean boot and eliminate any software virus etc. these programs include;

    Spybot s & d

    malawarebytes

    SUPERAntiSpyware

    Ad-aware

    and some mcaffee widget freeware

    to name a few.

    I'm trying to install trend micro internet security total to cover the withdrawal of these programs.

    Can I remove programs in startup list via the registry using regedit in the affirmative were to do to find them. I know this might be a dangerouse exorcise, but I must try if possible.

    Help, please.

    The program Autoruns from Microsoft Sysinternals most of the registry locations where things can be started from the list and is easier than the use of regedit.

    Hello

    Thank you for writing to Microsoft Communities. I understand that you are unable to open msconfig on the computer.

    I understand how it could be frustrating when things do not work as expected. Please, I beg you, don't worry I'll try my best to resolve the issue.

    1. what operating system is installed on your computer?

    2. have there been recent changes to the computer before the show?

    Please go ahead and follow the steps mentioned and later a update on the State of the question.

    Method 1: Rof the United Nations [System File Checker] SFC scan on the computer that would be a search for system files corrupted on the computer and replace them.

    For Windows 7 and Vista: http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929833

    For Windows XP: http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310747

    Method 2:  Also try to scan your computer for the Microsoft Security Scanner, which would help us to get rid of viruses, spyware and other malicious software.

    The Microsoft Security Scanner is a downloadable security tool for free which allows analysis at the application and helps remove viruses, spyware and other malware. It works with your current antivirus software.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

    Note: The Microsoft Safety Scanner ends 10 days after being downloaded. To restart a scan with the latest definitions of anti-malware, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again.

    Note: The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.

    Please follow these recommended steps and post if you still experience the problem.

Last month he doesn't have a bsod nearly 1 full month and then it BSOD this Sunday, two times then I watched 12 tabs of YouTube and play battlefield 4. You guys would probably think it is the graphics card, but I really don't think... But you guys can check what the newspaper said about the bsod? She has been driving me crazy since I bought my pieces and I tried a few things.
    What I tried:
    Updated all my drivers as soon as available
    RMA had my memory once before and tested my memory with memtest86 with 1 pass 0 errors but maybe it's not enough...
    Doubt that this is a heat issue I have a great CPU cooler (Noctua NH - D14).
    I'm probably kind of pointing fingers at the graphics card, CPU or mobo... Could be the hard drive or ssd? I don't know, I don't know what are the symptoms if it is a storage device. Would be very happy to discover what is happening so I can return my equipment where it came from and get a new hardware please ^^.
    Moreover, once each while playing games watching youtube or trying to surf online my ASUS black screen MX239H for like 2 seconds. This would indicate that my graphics card is defective/Monitor...-.-se feel like newegg sells the defective goods but gots for me to get the bad stuff. :(
    PLANNING ON WATERCOOLING VERY SOON, so at the end you get this problem is resolved. Yes, watercooling a rig with a game board mATX: (...) Sad, gigabyte did not have an ATX format, when they first released the advice of 1150 Socket Z87 around mid-May?
    Feel free to download the .dmp file and have a look for me. I can't for the life of find me whats going on. I try to be very technical, but I guess I'm not that great with computers, as I thought. I tried to use bluescreenviewer to see whats up. No idea always says the culprits are hal.dll ntoskrnl.exe and I do not know how to decode... Also reformatted my PC several times already. My OS is not the problem.

    I finally solved my problem. There is not drivers, BIOS, it's CERTAINLY the hardware problem. I constantly tried to resolve the issue, I went intel.com and talked to their support team and they went through the data in 3 days, they said yes, it's the processor. So after a week later I was contemplating on whether to send the processor or not. My k 4770, finally I decided, jeez I'm tired of these bsods so I did and paid for UPS delivery about nearly $20 and shipped since Saturday and arrived on Friday. About a week and a half later, I received my new 4770 k and I'm happy too. nothing ever happened, once again. No black screens, no blue screen of death, nothing. Feels great lol. I now use Artic Cooling MX-4 because the Intel processor, I had until I used IC Diamond 7g thermal paste and I just loved how it messed my wedge of copper processor. It is difficult to wipe them off, so I went with mx-4 and its doing good. It's like 2-4 degrees Celsius higher than IC Diamond 7 G. Sad:-well not many, at least no more problems :) Thank you, Patrick. You did wonders sir. Keep up the excellent work, I'll never have to deal with that bs ever. I'm still trying to test my pc and see if it might happen again. And yet once, remember that I quoted that it can take up to a month to see if it goes blue screens, its random lol. I'll test again more than a month... Maybe a month and a half - 2 months. But anyway, great job, I didn't problems ever since.
