The upgrade of desktop a1524n HDD

Hey guys,.

Recently joined this forum hoping to you guys for answering a few questions, I have in mind

I bought this PC wayback in September of ' 06 and now after 3 years, I'm thiking on upgrade parts.

My first question is: How can I find out which hard drive is compatible with my PC (model # a1524n)?

and a bonus question: I also think to upgrade my RAM and want to know if this RAM is compatible with my MOBO/PC? CORSAIR 2 GB (2 x 1 GB) 240-pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 533 (PC2 4200)

Here are my product page: click ON

PS, I am running windows XP and also here is my MOBO specs: HERE

Research on the product and the motherboard specifications, it seems that the RAM that you want to buy from NewEgg works fine. This is the maximum size supported and is the correct type (DDR2). Since you have only two DIMM Sockets, you will need to remove your old RAM modules. The requirement of 'unbuffered non - ECC' would only be important if you were trying to install server RAM.

For upgrades from the hard drive, there are a few things to consider.

First data connectors. The motherboard has 2 Connectors IDE and four SATA connectors. Each of the IDE connectors can support 2 disks simultaneously, but you must attach the two to the same Belt of IDE and set the jumpers on the back of the drives so that one is the master and the other the slave. SATA connectors are more modern; You can only attach a disk to each SATA data cable. If you have available SATA ports, you should use; Use only disks IDE if all four of the SATA ports are used (SATA is faster; and it would be less of a hassle to install it).

You will also need the power of your new hard drive. There will be a number of cables that come out of your diet, and drives hard IDE and SATA need different connectors. The SATA power connector looks like this and IDE drives use Molex connectors that look like this. Check to see what connectors you have available.

The last thing you will need is a Bay to your hard drive. The specification says that there only a Bay internal 3.5-inch (which organizes your current hard drive), but you can buy a Bay adapter docking station 3.5 to 5.25 storage station and install a second hard drive in the 5.25 Bay unused - that way you can keep your old hard drive and still have extra capacity.

I used a program called BandiCam save games/windows on my Windows 7 computer. I recently upgraded to a 2 TB HARD drive and transferred all my files to the new disk. None of the Windows files were transferred by my request and now Windows Media Player cannot read the. BandiCam AVI files. I've read that it could be the Codecs of compression used by Bandicam however until I transferred all my files he was running fine records. I tested on my laptop with the same file, and it worked fine as well. Is there a debug/repair for Windows Media Player program? Or could I just re - install completely?

    Hello

Welcome to the community forums of Microsoft and thanks for posting the question. I've surely you will help find a solution on the issue.

    1. what happens when you tried to read the files using Windows Media Player?

    2. do you receive any error messages?

3 have you tried reinstalling the Bandi-cam program after upgrade to the hard drive?

    Method 1:

Try to uninstall and reinstall the Bandi-cam program and check with the question.

    Method 2:

To resolve this problem, you can try to install Audio codec and check if the problem persists.

A codec is a software to compress or decompress a digital media file, such as a song or a video. Windows Media Player and other programs use codecs to play and create digital media files.

A codec can consist of two components: an encoder and a decoder. The encoder performs the compression function (coding) and the decoder performs the decompression function (decoding). Some codecs include both components and some codecs only one of them.

For example, when you rip a song from an audio CD on your computer, the player uses the default Windows Media Audio codec to compress the song into a compact WMA file. When you play that WMA file (or any WMA file that may be broadcast from a Web site), the player uses the codec Windows Media Audio to decompress the file for music can be played through your speakers.

More Codec please visit the following link:

You can search your favorite engine and download and install the codec that is compatible with the operating system.

I have a few questions regarding the upgrade of my office. Specifications of systems are as follows:

Intel (R) Core (TM) processor i3-2100 3.10 GHz 3.10 GHz

    4.00 GB RAM

    64-bit operating system (windows 7)

Graphics card is a Nvidia Geforce 520

    Motherboard is a Pegatron/Carmel

I would like to know what type of cards of games I can upgrade, as the 520 altogether do not cut. I plan on upgrading my diet as well, however I'll choose a diet based on the power needs of my system after that I have determine what new credit cards I can get.

    Hi Capnchris01,

The best way to approach the question is to look for some video cards you like and respond to the needs of your games and then compare the specifications of the cards for your PC specifications. There are some cards that you are interested in?

In addition, there are some expert guides on the HP Forums were set up to help the upgrade of video cards and switching power supply. Here is the link to the video card guide:

  • The upgrade of my desktop pc from HP a1540n for photo editing

    Hi all

I am currently running Win XP SP2 on desktop HP a1540n; System specs are here:

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c00679533

After you have maxed out my RAM (4x1Go), the system has worked well for me for about 4 years.  However, I'll buy a new 36 MP digital camera and need to upgrade the operating system to a minimum (for Vista or Windows 7) to take over some of s/w that I use for photo editing. At the same time, I am considering a few hardware upgrades as well to improve the speed of the system (I work with large files).

I'm looking for options in order to make the system work and, if $ allow to improve performance.  I would like some advice on whether if it is worth upgrading the hardware or just bite the bullet and withdraw from the newer system for somethng.

Option 1: OS upgrade only, pref for Win 7; cost: ~ $140

Option 2: upgrade MB (with processor), optionally add a video card. upgrade cost:?

    Option 3: new system; cost: ~ $1000.

Option 2 makes any sense?  So I hate to waste the old h/w, I'm not sure whether this option is profitable.  Can the remaining material (power supply, etc.) support and are working properly with the motherboard more recent or other improvements will be necessary as well (in addition to the OS)?  I will be attaching multiple drives (some new, some existing); a new MB give me USB3 ability, or is it a separate addon?

    All advice/recommendations would be appreciated...

    -Rob

    Rob, welcome to the forum.

This is one of the most difficult situations to address.  The upgrade can be a good option if the original components are even more recent.  However, a computer that is 6 years old becomes a dinosaur.  As a result, purchase new may be a much better option.  If you can afford the $1,000, I think you would advance money.

  • The upgrade to Player 6 to 10 Workstation see my 3 USB HDD?

Running on my laptop with a Windows 8 VM the LaCie Minimus USB 3 HDD Player 5 could not be seen on the USB 3 port, but the port USB 2.  I was hoping that Player 6 could solve this problem, but same problem.

There is no reason the upgrade to 10 Workstation would or would not solve my problem of USB 3?

It will work (or not) the same - Player 6 and 10 workstations use the same underlying virtual machine monitor, system services and device drivers.

Is it possible to upgrade both the power supply and graphics card?

There will be no problem of compatibility (PSU Corsair CX 500 questioned?.)

I heard a lot of chatter on hp restricting the upgrade of their pc.

    The new card will work?

    Any help will be apppreciated.

    @Jeffrin98, welcome to the forum.

I cannot find the specs of the product to the computer.  So, here's what you need to do.  Press Start + R from the view of the office.  This will open a run dialog box.  In the box labeled type msinfo32 opened.  In the page that opens, check the option titled Mode BIOS.  If he says UEFI motherboard is supported by the video card.  If this isn't the case, you will not be able to move forward.

The next step is to measure the space where the card will be installed to ensure that it fits.  Measure from the back i/o port to the front of the case.  This will allow you to see if other ingredients will limit the installation.

The CX500 Corsair power supply (PSU) should work.  However, check how much power requires the video card.  It may be better to buy a PSU with 600W.  High power will be used during peak power needs.  In addition, the card may require additional power connectors.  Also, I recommend a modular power supply.  It allows you to use only the cables that are absolutely necessary, create better air circulation.  It is very important with more powerful graphics cards.  The heat can be much larger.

Please click on the button + Thumbs up if I helped you and click on accept as Solution If your problem is resolved.

  • I had a computer with a dead HDD p6510f so I thought the upgrade also.

HP pavilion p6510f, Win 7, 4 GB of ram with a dead hard drive. I thought to upgrade the Athlon II X 4 630 to a Phenom II X 6 1045T at the same time to get more power calculation, but for the money I am better doing a map of graffiti instead? I'm not a gamer but do a lot with the video and it's a little slow. I also plan to go with a 32 or 64 GB of SSD to put the operating system and a 500G to 1 t hard drive to store data. How can I get the xtra power for additional components connectors?

    se77,

A simple reading of the plug on the upgrade of processor p6510f reflects no Pheom II X 6 support: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02153181

But you could add more RAM motherboard.

As Danjen said, the addition of a new graphics card will require a new higher power PSU.

  • The upgrade of the internal SATA HARD drive for HP Pavilion dm4

    Hello

I have the HP dm4 - 1150 bought ea I think in December 2004.  It has intel core i5 and 500 GB of HARD drive.

It works very well.  I ben hae wanting to upgrade the HARD disk but hard drives SATA 2.5 inches for this ability were not available.

drives internal SATA 2.5-inch 2 TB for laptops are now available.  The OEM version seems to be available for about £80 in the United Kingdom.  Has anyone successfully updated your laptop HARD drive?  Does anyone know if I buy and install the new 2 TB SATA HDD if it works.  If not why?

Would appreciate a response from anyone who has tried this on dm4 or similar computers HP laptop

    Thank you

If it's the original drive it is SATA-II as SATA-III was not then invented. Confirmed here:

    http://www.wdc.com/wdproducts/library/SpecSheet/Eng/2879-701275.PDF

You can replace it with a SATA-III disc without any problems. They are perfectly backwards compatible. Your motherboard is a SATA-II at best and could even be SATA - I have but I do not.

I avoid the biggest current disks because drive manufacturers must invent new technological tricks to squeeze more and more zeros and ones in the same size box and it takes time to work on the kinks. Right now, 1 TB is the sweet spot for the readers of the laptop and 2 TB or 3 for desktop drives. Stay with a 1 TB drive 7200 rpm or still a hybrid drive of 1 TB would not a bit of extra money.
