The upgrade of my Lenovo E420

Hello

I want to upgrade my laptop hardware E420 total increase my performance, to speed up my computer.  My question is, what are all the things I can spend?

I know that cpu and gpu, you can't.  I've already updated my ram from 4 GB to 8 GB

IAM thinking about upgrading my hard drive 5400 RPM HARD drive at 7200 RPM HARD drive.  Is this possible?  If so, can I just buy any HARD 7200 RPM disk and install in my laptop?  Are there any other HARD drive speeds I can get?   (don't want SSD btw)

In addition, can what other things I put?

It's good to hear that the post helped.

I checked the user for E420 Guide, but there was no statement on the change of the CPU.

Instead, this article on PCWorld may help you:
http://www.PCWorld.com/article/148910/replace_your_laptops_cpu.html if you are not experienced in the treatment of the components of the computer and do not want to take the risk of making mistakes, I suggest go you to the Lenovo's Service Center or a local hardware store.

Good luck with it.

Kind regards

Hi I'm new to computers, but if I can I'd like to update as my graphics card, CPU, ram.
It would be nice if you can help me by providing what is compatible and what is not or what I can get...
    Current specifications are:
    -I3 - 2350M 2.30 ghz CPU
    -Intel hd 3000 graphics card
    -4 GB of ram (1 x)

    Nice day.

Please take a look at the manual of your equipment:

    https://download.Lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles_pub/Lenovo%20G470G475G570G575%20Hardware%20Mainenance%2...

-Page 40 shows that you have 2 DIMM slots. Not sure if your machine supports 8GB modules, but you should be able to add 4 additional GB. On pages 73 and 74 of the parts list, item #11 is the DIMM and could offer a glimpse of the form that you need.

-Page 44 shows that you have a processor half bridge vs. welded as in many machines today. On page 73, you will see the processors (point #6) that is configured in the machine. It looks like you can go as high as the i7 - 2620M. Others may work as well, but I can't offer more advice on that.

-As well as graphics, you are limited to built-in HD3000 that is incorporated into the Sandy Bridge processors.

    Does that help?

  • The upgrade of Windows and the Lenovo enhanced experience

    Hello

I just got my new laptop Lenovo Z580 with Windows Home Premium 64 bit operating system.

My school has me given an upgrade of Windows 7 Pro 64-bit because it is necessary for my program. If I run the disk to upgrade to upgrade windows, will be affected features improved experience? I am especially concerned by the optimized startup and its Dolby Home Theater.

    Thank you

    Hello
You upgrade form win7 for another "version" of windows 7. Thus, all programs will suffer anyway. More during the upgrade, the installer would say the compatibility of all programs.

  • Some problems with the upgrade of RAM on Lenovo ThinkPad T500?

    Hello

My laptop is Lenovo ThinkPad T500 and its main features as follows:

    -Processor Intel Core 2 Duo T9400 (2.53 GHz, 1066 MHz, 6MBL2).

    - 4 GB PC3 - 8500 DDR3 SDRAM 1067 MHz SODIMM Memory (2 DIMM).

-ATI Mobility Radeon 3650 with 256 MB.

I really need to upgrade the RAM to work with SharePoint 2010 and Windows Server 2008 R2. and my big question is:

    * How many memory locations that I have in my Lenovo ThinkPad T500?

I read on (http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-55644#t) that the maximum memory size for T500 is 8 GB.

Yes, in case if my Lenovo ThinkPad T500 laptop has only two memory slots, so, I'll have to buy 2 memory cards of ThinkPad 4 GB PC3-8500 DDR3 Low-halogen SO-DIMM, in order to get the 8 GB... and I have to throw my current memory cards...

    My other question is:

    * Is easy to install/remove RAM in Lenovo ThinkPad T500?

Sorry to ask the second question, but I have never dealt with before material.

    I would appreciate your inputs.

Thank you for your consideration of my request and I look forward to hearing from you soon!

The T500 has only two slots of RAM, so the upgrade to 8 GB would mean that your two existing 2 GB modules would need to be removed.

Replacement of the RAM is simple; Remove the four screws for the Palm and the locations of memory will be under the palm rest.

See the HMM for more detailed instructions: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-70068.html

  • Problem with a keyboard key of T440 after the upgrade to Windows 10

    Hello world

I have a Brazilian keyboard layout (ABNT2) on my T440 and I am facing a problem after the upgrade to Windows 10. The new version of Windows recognizes this key:

As long as the "CTRL on the right" (commom on other layouts).

Everyone was faced with a similar problem or have any clues as to what might solve this problem?

    Thanks in advance,

    Felipe

    Solved.

Do more research, I fount out is an old bug with Lenovo's Thinkpad laptops with this Brazilian keyboard.

If you are facing the same problem, use this registry tweak and the problem is solved:

(the file name indicates "win7" but it also works for Windows 10)

  • The upgrade of the card Wifi in T420s AC

I think the upgrade of my wireless card Intel AC card.

As far as I understand there is a white list of BIOS for the authorized material that will require flashing before you install anything with non - Lenovo FRU. As I have not been able to find a card that is dealt with by Lenovo, I don't really see option to blink.

Could someone point me in the direction of a work card, or a mod of BIOS work? I thought the 7260 Intel as a replacement card.

Did anyone done this before? :-)

    Welcome to the forum!

There is no wireless card out-of-the-box-work AC for a T420, so looking for a mod of BIOS.

There are places online that specialize in the provision of modded bios, I doubt anyone here will post a direct link with one of them on Lenovo's own forum.

Time to put the search engine of your choice to work.

    Good luck.

  • SL510 crashed in the middle of the upgrade of the BIOS.

I had to reinstall the operating system (Windows 7) using my rescue disks after that my computer has been infected by a virus. The re-installation went well and I went to download a series of updates through Windows Update. I also did a few software updates via the tools of Lenovo. While it was the upgrade during the night, apparently he hung on the BIOS upgrade and did a variety of noises so my wife am bored off the computer. Now I just get a black screen when I turn on the computer. The hot spare no longer work. I also tried the BIOS boot CD (http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS013595) and who did nothing no more. Any suggestions?

The easiest way is to visit the website of your computer manufacturer
If it's something like Dell, HP, Lenovo, gateway, etc.  There, you can
Find the support/downloads/drivers section and look for the drivers
for your computer model.  I suggest you obtain these updates.

Uninstall applications from any third party firewall (ZoneAlarm, etc.)
and use the built-in firewall of Windows only.

Log in as a user with administrative rights and open Internet Explorer

first of all, press on and hold down the CTRL key while you click on it.  You can
release the CTRL key after clicking on each time.

Once the scan is complete, select that ONLY updates of high priority
(deselect all others) and install it.

    Reboot again.

If it worked - try the web page - selection not more than 3-5 a
    time.  Reboot as needed.

The optional software updates are generally safe - although I recommend
against the 'Windows Search' one and all of the "Office Live" those or
"Windows Live" which for the moment.  I would like to avoid completely the
    Optional hardware updates.

Seriously - do these things.  It's like antibiotics - do not skip a single

you have a problem with a step to ask and let someone here, you get
Thanks to this step.  If you do not understand how to bring one back
and ask here on this step and let someone guide you through it.

Then - actually - that everyone here knows if it worked for you - or if
    you have more questions.

  • Question related to the upgrade to Windows 8.1

I currently have a HP laptop with 4 GB of Ram and 64-bit Windows 7 SR1 running. I'll give this computer to my wife, that his old bridge is going Tango-uniform (UT). I bought a new Lenovo SmartCheck S535 with 6 GB Ram 1 TB of storage. It came with Windows 7 SR1 already on board and he also included disks for Windows 8.1. First of all, I did a set of boot rescue disks and start them on the side.

But now, I have a question, do I have to transfer my files from HP to Lenovo so that both use Windows 7 SR1? Or. should I go ahead and upgrade the OS and transfer the files.

I'm sure that happens with a lot of people, there will be a lot of programs that I keep less re - install on the new computer. They are trash who are picked up along the way for those of us who use or service of computers as often we brush our teeth. Oops... maybe it's not such a great comparison, but you get what I mean!

So, I would be very interested to hear your advice, your success, Yes and even a failure or two, all for the purpose of education.

Thank you and I look forward to hearing from some of you.

Original title: which came first - the chicken or the egg? (So to speak!)

As a system dual boot, the only place where the 2 operating systems interact is the bootstrapper. Windows 8 will take the priority, is somewhat different, as far as it goes, and if you select then Windows 7 system reboots so it can do a little slower. Of course, there will be a loss of disk space but you are then also 2 installs of Office and everything else.

If you were to go down the possibility to buy a kit Windows 8.1 you avoid the need to do a complete reinstall, because it will improve instead. You also avoid the need to run the upgrade of the store from 8 to 8.1. You must decide if the cost is justified, but in your situation, I would seriously consider that option as well.

Even if I'm not a big fan of Windows 8 I made the full switch and are accustomed to him, I'm sure you will as well.
