Theme setting is stuck in classic windows.

IM using Windows Vista Home Basic, when I go in the theme settings, seems I don't have the option to go back to vista themes. After I turn it off once and classic used to improve performance. What should I do?

As previously validated by another contributor here, ignore this link and this suggestion.  It applies especially XP and not Vista.  Sorry to send you in the wrong direction, but it seemsd like such a good and appropriate article I missed the applicabilitily part.  I noted before the group policy option must be ignored (which is why you can't find gpedit.msc - it does not exist in Vista Basic), leaving the other two.  I checked for the other two and editing the registry does not apply with the relevant keys do not exist at this location under Vista (if they exist everywhere in Vista).  Which leaves just three option which we will address separately below (it does not apply to Vista as XP).  So, as mentioned, please ignore the article and again apologies for suggesting it without fully check it out first.  Fortunately, no harm done all as it did not work and no trouble.

A part is well worth a visit. Go to start / Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Services / scroll to themes and double-click it to open it and make sure it is set to automatic and started.  If this is not the case, change it to automatic and start it. If you need to change, which can solve the problem.  If it is already started and automatic mode, then this isn't the problem.

I hope this helps.

Good luck!

NOTE: Adding themes for Vista may give you more options - but it is also possible, you'll have the same problem with these additional themes that you have with the current (not being able to change their) because we have not yet determined the cause of this problem (unless one of the above procedures has since worked).  Yet, it is probably worth it because it's a much better solution than the one you are considering.

  • Window appearance settings went irreversible to classic windows!

So I just opened my laptop and saw I had the classic windows theme. I tried to go back to vista Basic or standard, but it keeps telling me that "the Visual styles could not be applied. I looked at some forums (seems to me that the problem is seen quite often), but I seem to be the only one where the theme reset in the management of the computer does not work. Whenever I'm trying to choose a vista theme, the preview is all black and it keeps giving me the same error message. Help someone? (I just did the "microsoft fix it' thingy for aero, and he told me that my version of vista does not support aero.) It's funny, it did until yesterday...)

If that's what you were doing and it did not help, here are my suggestions:

1 do a system restore. Choose your point of restoration a few days ago.

    http://www.howtogeek.com/HOWTO/Windows-Vista/using-Windows-Vista-system-restore/

2 make a check of the file system. It's to look for corrupt files. He will try to fix it if it is found.

  • Windows Vista went to classic windows

Could someone help me solve the problem that windows vista went to classic windows?
I had a media file, and when I tried to open this file, windows vista is passed to windows classic. I tried to check the damage file by running sfc/scannow in CMD and it showed that the CBS.log newspaper is the cause of the error. Could you please tell me how to fix?

    Hello

Classic view gives Windows the look and behavior of earlier versions. To restore the default theme, try the following steps.
    1. open theme settings by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, appearance and personalization, customization and then clicking theme.
    2. under theme, select the theme in the drop-down list and click OK.

For more information, see this link: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/Change-desktop-theme

    I hope this helps.

    Kind regards

  • Stuck at "Starting Windows" screen

    I have a Toshiba laptop, Windows 7 Ultimate. I don't have a recovery disk.

Whenever I start windows, Windows Error Recovery (http://www.techjaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/win7-error-recovery.png)

    comes with two choices;

    1. run repair system (recommended)
    2 start Windows normally
Whenever I try to pick 2, it gets stuck on the Windows splash screen
    (http://www.windows7password.net/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/safemodewindows71_thumb.jpg)
So I chose 1. He lead me here

I first tried to command prompt, then I typed "chkdsk c: /f/r". It took 3 days already. The last time I saw him, it was already (sorry I don't remember)
    «67 000 + 300 000 files (stage 4 of 5)»
I left for a while, then when I came back, he was already set to zero. I don't think its been already because it is too long...
After the reboot, it again displays the Windows Error Recovery screen.
Then I tried the Windows Memory Diagnostic. Everything went well. The status is always "no problems have been detected yet" until it has finished.
It always shows the recovery screen.
I tried the system restore. I chose the last restore point. When I click next it freezes and its stuck in there for a long time.
Then, I tried System Image recovery, but I don't have any image system backed up.
Finally, I tried startup repair, it took too long so I cancelled it. I thought it might be like the chkdsk which took too much time, but does not solve the problem.
I tried the Advanced Startup Options (http://ww2.justanswer.com/uploads/operab/2010-05-17_070306_Advanced_Boot_Options.jpg), then I tried the 3 Security Modes. It did not work. It was just stuck to this - > http://www.administrator.de/images/content/f1a9ac1584b0c371c0381bfaadbbf49f.jpg
I tried to enable boot logging, enable video low resolution (640 x 480), last (Advanced) well-known Configuratio, Directory Mode, disable automatic restart on system failure and disable Signature enforcement and everything lead to screen "starting Windows"... Help, please

Hi.As you can see you maybe corrupted/not identified/no valid/not found important windows files or modules. You need a Windows 7 Ultimate CD or recovery disk to fix this... You do not have any of these so I don't know if there is a hope for you. I recommend that you run the Startup Repair tool and leave it until the end. Startup Repair is ___NOT of BEING CONFUSED___ with chkdsk. Startup Repair will fix ALL your problems start (for example your stuck at windows startup). Try it and get back with the results.

    Pending.

    Thank you

    XPJ

    Hello

    There are two options available.

    1. you can order a set of replacement recovery disks using the link below - it will reinstall the operating system, all the drivers, and almost all of the original software (the exception being often tests of MS Office).  They will also recreate all of the original scores, including the recovery Partition.

    Order HP recovery disks.

2 another option, if you came to laptop with Windows 7, you might consider is to create your own installation disc.

Before you try the following, make sure that you can always read the character product activation key 25 on your label Windows COA (5 blocks of 5 alphanumeric games).

An example of a COA label can be seen here.

You can create a Windows 7 installation disc yourself using another PC - just download the good Disk Image ( must be the same version - i.e. Home Premium.) Professional etc. - initially supplied with your laptop ) from the link below and use an app like ImgBurn to burn the ISO correctly on a blank DVD - a guide on the use of ImgBurn to write an ISO on a disc is here.  The source of the Image is Digital River.

    Windows 7 sp1-iso-official-32-bit-and-64-bit

Use the disk to perform the installation, enter the activation key of Windows on the label of the COA at the request and once the installation is complete, use ' 'phone Method' described in detail in the link below to activate the operating system -this made method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who want to just have a new installation of Windows 7 without additional software load normally comes with OEM installations.

    http://www.kodyaz.com/articles/how-to-activate-Windows-7-by-phone.aspx

You may need, additional drivers and software are from here.

    Best regards
