    Hello

When I try and view my virtual servers (ESXi 3.5) or just the server (Server 2008), I have 2 machines virtual is a bit slow (Server 2003 SP2), but he did subsequently load, I get the above error.

The server itself works 6 gig ram

    Server 2008 3 gig ram

    Server 2003 SP2 2 gig RAm

Both use a data store of what looks like 600 GB on the server itself and that is the statement that there are 26 free concerts.

    Any help appreciated.

Nice. How long did take to remove the snapshot? The reason for the difference in speed is that it is so more writing to a snapshot (who must develop in increments of 16 MB - also causing a lot of locking / SCSI reservations on your VMFS volume). This would have also affected the other virtual machines on the same data store.

Please answer one of the "correct".

... VDP is located on one of the host's local storage physical there not on the SAN

According to the error message, local storage of the physical host has run out of disk space due to unit VDP growing (thin provisioned) data disc "Data Protection 6.0_1.vmdk". Backups require more than currently available disk space, so there is not a lot of options available. You must either increase the data store to which this virtual disk is stored, or migrate to another, more department store of data if you want to continue to run backup jobs as they are currently configured.

  • Removal of all the snapshots--> error: more space for virtual disk...

    Hello everyone

I'm quite new to VMware and has failed to find a solution for my problem. If someone could help me, it would be awesome!

During the migration of a SBS2003 guest at a new SBS2008 customer, I made some shots. I have now finished, the new SBS2008 works well and is already in production. Now I wanted to free up the space occupied by all these snapshots and finished with this error:

There is no more space for disk virtual hercules2.mydomain.local - 000005.vmdk. You might be able to continue this session by the release of disk space on the relevant volume, and then click Retry.

The SBS2008 still seems to work very well. All snapshots in the Snapshot Manager left... but when you browse the data store the snapshot files are still there.

    How to proceed now?

    Thanks in advance everybody!

If you have another store of data with extra space, you can clone the virtual computer to the another data store.

Can I add a disc more on C: by do not format the drive? or can I add more disk space to a new partition

  • msg.hbacommon.outOfSpace:There is reached for disk virtual server_1 - 000008.vmdk.  You may be able to continue this session by freeing up disk space on the partition relevant, clicking Retry

    Hello

I've seen various threads on this topic but have not found a resolution or explanation that fits my specific scenario.

I have an ESXi 4 server connected to a San (700 GB) with 1 virtual machine on that (Exchange 2010).   The virtual machine, I created has 4 discs, 50GB for the OS, 2 240 GB for database drives and 1 100 GB drive for newspapers.  In the operating system, each partition shows that I have a lot of space.  Last night, I'm moving on our Exchange 2003 Server mailboxes when all of a sudden I get this error message and stop the server:

msg.hbacommon.outOfSpace:There is reached for disk virtual server_1 - 000008.vmdk.  You may be able to continue this session by freeing up disk space on the relevant partition, and then click Retry.  Otherwise, click Cancel to end this session.  Try again / Stop

Retry reproduced the error... Stop stop the virtual machine.

After I stop, I look in the client vsphere under hardware > storage > SAN where the disc is, and I find that I'm out of space.

Now, I created multiple snapshots I could fall back on since when I was doing the initial setup of the Exchange.  I deleted a large number of people and got up to about 50 GB of free space showing on the SAN.  However, this number is declining slowly.

Now, when I created the virtual machine, I configured the ramdisks to be of a certain size already (50 GB, 240 GB, etc.).  How is it that adding data (moving the mailbox) using more space than what is already assigned to the virtual disks?  This will become a huge problem that I have several other mailboxes to move and I thought that I had already allocated to the space I need.

Why is that when the server is just sitting there.  Available free space decreases?  It has something to do with the type of disc that I created? (Thickness)

Could someone please explain why this is happening and, more important still, how can I stop it without having to do anything too drastic?

    Hello.

"I have an ESXi 4 server connected to a San (700 GB) with 1 virtual machine on that (Exchange 2010).   The virtual machine, I created has 4 discs, 50GB for the OS, 2 240 GB for database drives and 1 100 GB drive for newspapers.  In the operating system, each partition shows that I have a lot of space. »

You have created 630 GB of thick disks on a 700 GB of data store.  Thick disks use this allocated space, no matter what operating system did with them in terms of use. Yes GB 630 thickness = 630 GB used space on the data store.

"Last night, I'm moving on the mailboxes of our Exchange 2003 server, when all of a sudden I get this error message and stop the server:
msg.hbacommon.outOfSpace:There is reached for disk virtual server_1 - 000008.vmdk.  You may be able to continue this session by freeing up disk space on the relevant partition, and then click Retry.  Otherwise, click Cancel to end this session.  Try again / Stop
After I stop, I look in the client vsphere under hardware > storage > SAN where the disc is, and I find that I'm out of space. »

You still snapshots (as you also mentioned) on this virtual machine as well.  With only 70 GB of free space on the data store, the snapshots are defintely going to be able to fill the volume in short order.

«Now, when I created the virtual machine, I configured the ramdisks to be of a certain size already (50 GB, 240 GB, etc.).»  How is it that adding data (moving the mailbox) using more space than what is already assigned to the virtual disks? »

When you create the snapshot, a new drive is created that will get all new disk writes.  So to copy a large number of mailboxes will use a lot of space quickly.

"Why is that when the server is just sitting there."  Available free space decreases?  It has something to do with the type of disc that I created? (Thick) »

Thick is using space, and convert it into thin disks may help to varying degrees - depending on the amount of writes.  It is above all the snapshots of the origin of the problem, or at least it's where you can focus your attention to solve this.

"Could someone please explain why this is happening and, more important still, how can I stop it without having to do anything too drastic?"

Remove snapshots and/or move this virtual machine to a data store greater would be the simpler of two corrections.

    Good luck!

  • Need more disk space to run virtual machines on R710 server with no available drive slots

    Hello

We have a server R710 with five $2.5 146 each and three 600 GB SCSI disks SCSI.  We have no more slots.

We want another 2-4 TB of space.   This server is used to run virtual machines to test software applications.  We have need for decent speed, but more important still need a cost-effective solution for running virtual machines.

The budget would be in the $1000 range give or take.  I might be able to get $3000, but a $10,000 would be too.  We could consider removing disks from 146 GB 5 and replacing them with those larger, but that might not be the first choice.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you!

What you ask for is really difficult to do within the budget without sacrificing important performance (from what you have right now in performance).

Any external storage solution (Dell) is out of the question for $3 k (think MD1200/1220).

    The market, 2.5 "drives max out at 1 TB at 7200 RPM, 900 tr/10 k or 300 GB @ 15 k RPM.

Dell has disks 1 to 7200 RPM 2.5 "company (for PowerEdges) for ~ $440 (see here). These are not the best choice if you want any kind of good performance.

You might look into upgrading to 900GB 10 k rpm drives. These run $799 each today on the Dell website (see here).

If you replace one of the 146 both each and let rebuild you could then use the extra space to another virtual disk. This would give about 2800GB.

If you can't budget 5 of them, according to the current setup of raid, you can watch a backup and restore of the virtual disk of some 146.

    You could:

-use 2 of the existing 146 in raid 1 for operating system and the extra space

    -use 3 x 900 in raid 5 (which would give a crude 1800 (Go so ~ 1674 usable))

-Use the 3 600 existing RAID 5 (which would give ~ 1116 GB usable)

Can join a Cluster of storage disk out of Maintenance DTS Mode to set up the profiles for a virtual machine storage policies?...

In my mind it seems there is disconnect from the DTS and storage profiles.

    Thank you.

    = NOTE =.

My lab at home, 2 organizes running ESXi 5.0

    Dv01 has

    Of startup vmfs 7200 RPM 160 G = dv01-BOOT

    Vmfs 1 TB 7200 RPM = VM02-VMFS

    VM02 has

    Of startup vmfs 7200 RPM 160 G = VM02-BOOT

    Vmfs 1 TB 7200 RPM = VM02-VMFS

    Vmfs 5900 RPM 2 TB = VM02-TV01

I have (3) facility profiles of storage using 'User-defined storage Capablity' as shown below:

    (160 @ 7200 RPM SATA) boot > Boot

    Fast (160 7200 RPM SATA and 1 TB @ 7200 RPM SATA) > fast

    Slow (2 TB @ 5900 RPM SATA) > slow

Then, I set up a storage Cluster with my local disks on dv01 (only to date)

LocalVM disc dv01-BOOT and dv01-VMFS disk of the 'cluster of storage.

I have a computer virtual called DC01 (HardDisk1) want to live on 'Boot' profile storage drive
His "Non-compliant" poster according to the storage profile, it should run on drive 'boot' on dv01

To get to this point, I put the StorageCluster in Mode of Maintenace 'DTS' and forced a sVmotion of all virtual machines off dv01-BOOT

No disks are IO or claim of space.

But once I take the 'DTS Maintenacne mode' STARTUP dv01 floppy is now get the DTS to return him to satisfy the storage profile (rule) I install... IE do the 'storage profile' VM complient (without doing a few externall API, the PS script or the 3rd party software calls)... ??

Seems weird it is (or may be) such disconnection of a memory of the profiles and the StorageClusters and the DTS?

    Thank you...

At this point, I think that storage DRS and storage profiles are two technologies to separate and work independently, but what you suggest is a great idea-

In fact this post with this link is pretty bad.

Virtual memory used by xp as ram memory, however the memory or

  • Maximum number of virtual disk for a virtual machine in vSphere 4.1

I read the maximum record rate and see that the maximum number of virtual disk is 16 for FT.

I have the same document I seem not to be able to see the number max of virtual disk that can be taken in charge for a virtual machine.

The number will be the same as the number of LUNS per host which is 256?  I know the max is for the host, but that be will come the number of Director to the total number of virtual disk that can be supported in the virtual machine?

In fact, in a logic unit number, we can have more than one data store that can be mapped to a virtual disk.

    I'm confused.

Thank you and have a nice week,

    Anthony.

If I am not mistaken, you can attach up to 60 virtual disks to a virtual machine. 15 for each of the 4 virtual SCSI controllers.
