ThinkPad Edge E430 USB 3.0 behave as USB 2.0 on Windows 8

I have just upgraded my e430 Windows 8 and realize, that two USB 3.0 does not not with USB 3.0 (such as external hard drive or flash drive) devices. Device is recognized but not displayed as a drive, so I did not have access to them.

I've read a few articles, Win 8 should have native support for USB 3.0 am so I missed something?

And must it be somehow connected with my internal card reader does not? I see, that Lenovo still not communicated to the drivers for it, but... Thanks for the replies.

I had the same problem until update BIOS to 2.07. The bootable .iso file worked for me, not the .exe file. If you need to burn a CD update, maybe. The previous update of the BIOS did not work, but this time he DID! Good luck!

  • Size of hard drive bay for Thinkpad Edge E430? and vs SATA 300 600

    I'm looking to get a bigger hard drive for my Thinkpad Edge E430, and I have two questions.

    The current drive is a Toshiba MK5061GSY - SATA 300. This is 0.4 inches high. I'm looking at a WD Green WD20NPVX - SATA 600. It is high 0.6inches.

    1. What size is the HARD drive Bay? Fits in a drive that is 0.6 inches in height?
    2. A disk SATA 600 is backward compatible with SATA-300 port?

    Thank you.

    Ivy Bridge CPU in the E430 supports SATAIII (6 Gb/s) for the main hard drive and the optical drive Bay.

    The height of the E430 hard drive Bay suitable for 7 and 9.5 mm (do not know what this amounts to in inches).

  • Driver needed XP for Ati Radeon HD 4250 (Thinkpad Edge 14 - model 019923u)

    Hello, I have downgraded from Windows 7 to Xp and I have trouble finding the driver for the video card.

    The laptop is a Thinkpad Edge 14 - model 019923u.

    Does anyone know the correct driver for this model?

    Thank you

    Try DRIVERMAX. I had a PC that had no XP drivers. This program found and installed the drivers in XP and had it work. What it does is find a driver for this type of Board/CPU/GPU/webcam/USB card or sound.

    Here are the directions out of my head that I remember best:

    • 1 when you load first it (after it index and askes register you), place the mouse on driver downloads and information, click on start the drivermax agent.
    • 2 loading the agent to ensure that its on the 2nd tab updated. If the (part your will install) shows here then select it and then click Download. Click on the 2nd show updates for only selected updates option.
    • 3 now it will go to the site and show you the pilot/s available. I always choose the driver top list. Click the link to download next to her. Click on continue free user. Make sure that you opened with drivermax and not save on the pc.
    • 4 it will then download and let you know when it is ready to be installed. Another thing if the driver (for what your need) does not appear here, then click on the identity of unknown material below start the agent on-screen main drivermax. Then do the same to download and install it.

    There are also clips Youtube how to use DRIVERMAX. See you soon! Hope this works for you.

  • Problem installing Windows 7 on Lenovo ThinkPad Edge 13 665D817

    Hello

    I have a Lenovo ThinkPad Edge 13 665D817 without an operating system and be able to install Windows 7 Professional 64-bit (msdnaa version). I actually had the Thinkpad even before and managed to install Windows 7 withouth any problems.

    After starting from the USB stick during installation without hard drive is located. To this end, I insert a second usb key with drivers for AMD AHCI Controller Device Driver for Windows 7 and select the directory of win7 64 bit. A driver to install is offered, but after installing it, it seems as if nothing happened. No disk is detected, and I can't continue the installation.

    thx for the help

    (by the way, the proposed here spell check does not recognize "Lenovo" - * lol *)

    I saw this happen occasionally during installation via the USB port. In my experience, it is when a USB 3.0 or eSATA/USB combo port is present. It does not occur if start you it from a Windows existing, nor happens during the installation of optical media.

    There is something that includes ImageX that you can use to install Windows, but that gets a little complicated.

  • Lack of Webcam - have you seen him? ThinkPad Edge 11

    Hello Forum,

    using a ThinkPad Edge 11 2545-A12 Type i´am and I need the build-in Webcam.

    But I m out of ideas how to activate it!

    The system works with Win 7 and I tried to use less-Lenovo software as possible.

    +++

    The driver of the Webcam installation is awkward. Whenever I run the installation of the latest Lenovo-Webcam-Tool tool, it warns: "USB-Videogerät nicht found. Bitte schließen sie das USB-VIdeogerät one. No matter what installation language I choose, it s always in German. Translatet: "none - found USB camera. Please plug it properly. "

    +++

    So I installed the software HotKey (no need for this before) and I was hoping to be able to activate the camera by pressing Fn + F5. I was not. Diferent pressing FN + X is fine, but by pressing Fn + F5 came: "for pressing of these combinaten, you must install the utility Communication Thinkvantage 1.4 or higher.

    Ok...

    +++

    So I installed the 2.09 Thinkvantage communications utility and tried Fn + F5. Now, I have control over my audio stuff but nothing to do with a camera. Camera Options are not shown or grey.

    +++

    So I installed the center of update of Active hoping for luck. Three restarts and a few software updates later everything remains the same: "no-camera USB found. Please plug it properly. "

    +++

    Is it possible to get the camera to work? I don't want to get a one extern...

    Maybe you have an idea? I have some ideas to the left...

    Thank you and good weekend!

    Your Florian.

    Hi Florian.

    According to the description of the product:

    Athlon K325(1.3GHz) 2 GB RAM 320 GB 5400 RPM HD 11.6 in 1366 x 768 LCD ATI Radeon HD 4225 802.11bgn wireless Bluetooth 1 Gb Ethernet UltraNav camera 6 c Li-ion No. preloads

    There should be a camera.

    Edit: Go into the bios, under Security-> Port i/o settings, you can check the status of the camera enabled/disabled

  • Headphone jack on the ThinkPad Edge works not properly with Lenovo 57Y4488 headphones

    Bought 57Y4488 which are earphones thinkPad.

    When it is plugged into a socket of headset ThinkPad Edge that the microphone does not work.

    Works very well if connected to a ThinkPad SL410.

    Tried with two different sets of ThinkPad earphones and two of the various ThinkPad Edge laptops. Unfortunately, I bought my headphones over a month so there cannot send their return.

    I was able to make them work if I plug it into a logitech usb connector.

    I don't know if the problem is the conector on the earphones or headphones on the ThinkPad Edge connector.

    Thanks for your reply.

    Just worked on it. It's a windows 7 setting. By default it does not seem to support taking combo until its installation in windows through advanced audio setting.

  • Keyboard comes out on my new Thinkpad Edge

    My wife has just received its new Thinkpad Edge (0196-26U 13 "screen, Intel processor, matte black). While not as energetic as our boosted T61 or T400, it is much lighter and adapts to its needs.

    Most of the keys on the keyboard feels good, but our model seems to have a flaw. The upper right corner of the keyboard tray pops out regularly. I can click it back in but there is a visible bulge and with a slight flex of the body it comes out back. In addition, the right side of the END key is depressed compared to the rest of the keys.

    I provide Lenovo today to inquire about a replacement part.

    Anyone else having this problem?

    Received the replacement keyboard today (the day after). It was a simple swap out. The original was clearly misrepresented in the upper right. The replacement unit has a millimeter to give in the same corner, but the framework comes out with an audible 'click'. Not perfect but does not interfere with my typing.

    The keyboard is attached to the frame by tabs at the front and two screw centered on a third of the way left and right. This keeps most of the keyboard firmly in place, especially in the middle where you press the small head of gum. The corners are only kept pressed by the rigidity of the frame of the keyboard. Thus, given any incompatibility with the chassis, there got to be some give.

    That's life I guess.

  • ThinkPad Edge S430 Sata 6 Gbit/s or 3 Gbps?

    Hello world

    I wonder if the internal SATA (not mSATA) port of the Thinkpad Edge S430 is a 6 Gbps port or 3 Gbps?

    Because internal 500 GB HDD is a Hitachi Travelstar Z7K500, which is normally a Sata 6 Gbps drive HARD, but said CrystalDiskInfo it only works in Sata 3 Gb/s modus.

    I know that the HARD drive is not fast enough to get out SATA 3 Gb/s max even when, but I want to replace by a SSD's SATA 6 GB/s HARD drive.

    So the question is why is the HARD drive works in SATA 3 gb/s modus. The jury only supports SATA 3 gb/s, or the OEM Version of the drive HARD Hitachi only does support SATA 3 gb/s?

    Has anyone replaced the HDD with a SSD already?

    Kind regards

    Bay drive HARD internal for S430 is 6 Gbps.

  • ThinkPad Edge E531 cannot boot from CD

    Hello

    just got my new Lenovo Thinkpad Edge E531.

    At the moment I'm not able to boot from the CD, it will always start the preinstalled Windows 8.

    I tried the F12 method to select a boot device different at startup where I can see the DVD RAM drive installed and select it, but no effect that he immediately returned to the selection screen.

    I played with the various BIOS affecting disabling secure boot option and change the boot order so that the DVD drive is the first. Then the system will look for the CD (you can hear it when you start spinning upwards), but will start in Windows 8 right afterwards.

    I checked with different bootable CD as well as DVD but still the same effects.

    What Miss me? All other BIOS or Windows 8 settings I need to change for it.

    I have other laptops Lenovo run like the X 230, the T520 or an old T61 where boot from CD never seems to be a problem.

    As the DVD drive works properly in Windows 8, I guess it works in general and should not be destroyed.

    Any help is very appreciated!

    Thanks in advance.

    See you soon...

    Thank you for the help

    Hello elFilipko,

    exactly the same thing happened to me today and it's how I managed to fix it:

    1. I downloaded four Windows drivers as described here (tthere first of all one of the links is not active more so I downloaded this driver in its current version of support.lenovo.com - Lenovo Power Management Driver for Windows 8).

    2. I installed all the drivers on my Windows 8 (I have dual boot - Win 8 and Ubuntu).

    3. after restarting the computer and reboot back to Windows, I pressed F9 to enter parameters related to a Wi - Fi (you may have to press Fn + F9, depending on your settings). After pressing this button, a small window with the parameters related to a Wi - Fi should appear in the middle of the screen (as far as I know, this special window appears only with the version of Windows 7 these drivers, so it is necessary to uninstall and reinstall versions of Windows 8 drivers in my case). In this little window, I disabled the plane and WiFi mode on.

    4. after step 3, it seems that nothing has changed, but just after the restart of Ubuntu, the Wi - Fi was on and working.

    I think a similar solution might work in your case also, just install Win 7 or 8 Win and try it.

    Best regards.
