ThinkPad T43p & SSD

Y at - it an SSD that will work well in my Thinkpad T43p?

I have a T43 with a KingSpec 128 GB SSD-HDD IDE. It works very well with Win 7, a normal alarm at startup, but it stops for a few seconds then automatically (I have the Bios option). I can live with that. Brought on EBay for US $299 in January 2010 and install without any problems.

    Hello

I am writing to you, because I have a big problem with my laptop T43p. In the mouth there is while I'm working with it, it just stopped, but it has not been extinguished. I tried to restart it and it was loading Windows XP Home edition and stopped again. I thought, he had become dirty inside, and everything has happened because of the high temperature, which generated inside. I brought to the IBM Service license. They cleaned it but the problem was not solved. I made strong impression when I'm pushing the right on the touchpad, it's just work countinue. But when my fingers aren't on this right touchpad it blocks again, just stop working.

If anyone has any information on this problem let me know with a massage.

    Thank you

This is a known issue, it is from the most likely GPU.

My thinkpad is T60p 2007CTO. After using this SSD for 1 month with no problems, I got the error message when I restart the system "2100: hdd0 initialization error (1).
My system is Windows 7 Professional.

This error for me, triggered by plugging the ThinkPad series ATA Hard Drive Bay with a Seagate Momentus 500 G HDD internal.
Before that, I used the Thinkpad IDE Hard Drive Bay for a long time.
I'm not sure of making the problem device. Drive hard Serial ATA Hard Drive Bay or Seagate Momentus 500 G?

I tried to upgrade the BIOS without success. I also tried to put this SSD in external USB driver and plug it in Windows 7, Windows XP and Linux. Linux can see the partitions, but cannot format or mount them. I don't see this SSD drive using the Windows Disk Manager. Sometimes Ican see the disc in Windows Explorer, but still cannot read the data in it.

I read a lot of posts before asking for help. Now, I JUST want to save my hard drive SSD.

Any suggestion or solution would be very appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

Please let us know how you arrived at this modesty, because many of us have used SSD in ThinkPads because firstly, they became available...

None of the above. You just had no luck with the particular SSD, period. If it's under warranty, it should be replaced by Kingston.

No matter what people would like to believe, SSD are not lacking, even the brand-name-dear... history of TPF some time ago:

  • T43P problem hard drive.

had my thinkpad through ancient times, and it seems that my hard drive has had a good go, but won't go with me more, struggling to install guard things (including operating systems) is missing a /bluescreen boot file, so I ask you, as I don't use my thinkpad for reading the news online etc I don't want to use a large sum of money for something I really whon can't use it much , so my question is the following:

Is there any way to buy a hard drive in an IBM Thinkpad T43p? Can I change the disk myself, and I live in Norway, so should be a way to ship here if so.

    Thanks in advance, Leo

You can use ANY portable PATA/IDE 2.5 ", but the vast majority of them will give you an error '2010' at the start, not a big deal if you ask me.

    Good luck.

  • upgrade the hard drive on T43p

I have a Thinkpad T43P 2687 DSO with a 80 GB hard drive.  I would like to upgrade to 160 GB or 250 GB.  I bought a couple of would have been compatible hard drives and led them to my pc repair guy and he said it had firmware problems that make them incompatible.  I will appreciate any suggestion on which HDDs can be compatible out of the box.

  • Problem Lenovo Thinkpad T430 HDD/SSD

    Hi all

I recently added an SSD for my thinkpad only to windows hosting on. I have a 300 GB HARD drive installed so I installed a 120 GB SSD into the slot of the wireless card. Everything went well, I installed windows 7 on the SSD and the laptop starts perfectly but I can no longer see the HARD drive in my computer, it only displays the SSD here now.

Can someone advise what I need to do to get both drives visible?

Thanks a lot for your help.

Your computer is to see your drive, it must just be initialized.

    You can find instructions here:

  • ThinkPad Yoga 14 upgrade to SSD

    Hello

I just bought the Thinkpad Yoga 14 with i5/8 GB DDR3/1 TB Hybrid drive

I also bought a processor Intel 240 GB SDD upgrade to.

I tried to clone the disk SSD, but it gives just a blank screen or select jumps back to the boot of the screen when start to boot.

I also tried to boot from a USB stick with Windows 8 on it, then install it on the SSD, but the same thing happens when you try to boot from USB (white screen or jumps back to the boot selection screen.

I tried to turn off Secure Boot, boot legacy mode, boot order, Windows load mode turn off/on... nothing works.

Technical hotline of Lenovo does not support upgrades.

Please, any help would be great.

Hello, I did the SSD upgrade last night and everything works so much better! I'm still not sure about the ram if its extensible or not.

Here are the steps I took to swap the drive hybrid SSD HARD drive:

    (1) bought SanDisk Ultra II 480 GB Solid State Drive - $139.00

    (2) purchased Insignia 3.0 Portable Hard Disk Drive Enclosure - $29.00

The case comes with the cable, you must clone the disks and then you can use your old HDD as a disk after having done an image backup and system if you want to, otherwise you have to buy the enclosure but will cable. I found the cost of the cable start around $10 and go on a $29, so I just went with the box. You can find quite different price elsewhere, that's just what I found locally.

    (3) make a backup of your entire system to an external drive, a system image backup and image of the system CD drive just in case.

    (4) download cloning software. I went with the free Sandisk recommended software - EZ GIG IV

    (5) Connect and clone old HDD to your Instructions SDD news will be with your new drive or the software.

    (6) once the clone is complete, unplug your internal battery in the BIOS. Instructions for this can be found in thinkpad manual.

    7) turn the power off and remove the laptop cover. Instructions for this are also in the thinkpad manual.

    (8) remove the old HARD drive. Thinkpad manual instructions

    (9) install the new SSD. Follow the instructions in the manual of Thinkpad and Instructions supplied with SSD

    (10) closing the case back up, put the screws back in and power on.

He had a black screen for a while when I turned it on and while I studied what had not worked, that I thought it was normal and literally as I was reading all came and was immediately noticeable how fast he was. I ran the Bios Update tool on the lenovo support area but I didn't have to change anything in the bios and everything works great. I did not remove the 16 GB card as Ive read that some people have. I'm still not sure if this makes a difference or not. The event viewer shows no defects, and it shows as active / online and running.

I'm always interested to find if I can pass the ram from 8 to 16 GB. If anyone knows...

Also, I've upgraded to Windows 10 the day I bought the machine, so I don't know if that has nothing to do with the swap go smoother.

  • ThinkPad 600 X 2645-4EU with SSD

    Hello!

    It's a 600 X 2645-4EU. BIOS is BIOS ITET55WW, 30/11/99

I bought it used in 2003. I've used from time to time. A few days ago, I bought an SSD Transcend TS128GSSD25-M.

I installed Windows XP Pro SP3 without any problem, it works perfectly (and it goes very fast with 576 MB of RAM in hibernation).

The problems came with Win98SE / BACK.

Firstly, fdisk fails to do anything: for example, it can erase previous partitions, but after it shows me error on writing to the hard drive. In addition, fdisk cannot create new partition: he just get stuck at 0% when checking the surface (I waited for about 30 minutes).

So, I created the FAT32 partition using the Windows XP Setup program: created a 16 Gb partition, then chose 'use the BOLD', and after he began to copy files, I interrupted Installer and booted up disk Win98 system. Then I can go to the c drive and even run "dir" - everything seems fine, at least to read works SSD. Then I start the Win98 installation (setup.exe). First of all, it runs scandisk. ScanDisk works ok, says no error. But then the win98 Setup displays an error: "ATTENTION: a serious error has occurred while writing to disk C. Retry (r)?'." And stucks.

I tried to do the following, to ensure. I've run ' echo 123 > test.txt' and got an error "General write error: drive C, A (Abort), R (Retry), F (failure)?'." I chose 'A' then run 'dir '. I realized that "test.txt" has been created, but it is length 0 bytes. When I try to "copy con test.txt" I got no error, but ' 0 files copied.

I would like to mention, that I had no problem, when it is used the previous hard drive Seagate 160 Gb - the two BACKS and Win98SE worked well. (Yes, 160 GB worked fine in this ThinkPad)

Please help me with a solution to this problem or maybe there are other ways (not official, some settings or something else). It is necessary for me to install and use the BACK/Win98.

I tried this SSD on another computer (normal office, m/b is Acorp VIA85P), and everything worked ok here. I booted up normally a Win98 system drive, 'fdisk' is normally used to remove old and create new partitions, 'format' the system drive. All write operations are working well.

So it seems to me that the problem is in the ThinkPad BIOS.

BUT. Anyway, WinXP works ok even on ThinkPad of BIOS. Maybe there is a work around for back/win98?

    Thanks in advance.
    Best regards, Serge.

    Serge,

Not sure what you are trying to make the size of the partition, but it looks like you can try to do something that is not supported by Win98.  In addition, the SSD CHS (cylinder / head / sector) numbers can be such that they cannot be reconciled properly by the BIOS of 600.

See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/184006/ for the limitations of FAT32.
