  In 2013, I bought and downloaded Photoshop and first 12 items on a Windows computer, but I recently upgraded to a Macbook Pro and I am at the step in the installation process where you provide your serial number. Unfortunately, whenever I try to make progress, I get the message 'this serial number is not valid for Adobe Photoshop Elements 12'.   If you do not have a cross-platform license, then it does not work for Windows and Mac.  If you're talking about one of the newer versions of PE then chances are it is not a cross-platform license.
