Thunderbird again lost my setup of encryption

Thunderbird has been working well, encryption and decryption on a regular basis. An update must have happened (I don't remember if this is what has marked the change) and I started to see "this message will be unsigned and not encrypted." on the Enigmail strip at the top. He seems to have lost my setup working keys.

Also, when I go on the account setting > Security > view certificates > import

He is unable to accept the relevant .asc file that had worked before. It requires the PKCS12 file, which I have none!

Tools on my Mac GPG continues to operate correctly with the same key.

Can you help me please?

Thunderbird on Mac OS 10.6.8 31.5.0

Good. You can then mark the thread as "Solved" Please?
Thank you.

I can't install my Photoshop 7 again. The setup.exe file appears dead. The CD sounds great.

I reinstalled a new version of Win. XP Pro Sp3 and it wiped out many of my programs, so I have been re - install. Of course, I lost the registry and have to build a new by reinstalling my programs. But my Photoshop 7 CD seems to have a dead setup.exe file and he won't answer as before. I tried everything including turning off virus program. I don't know what else to do. Maybe I need a new setup.exe file but I have no idea where I might get one.

Yes, I have a registered product. Can someone help me?

    Thank you, Judi

Thanks a lot for your suggestion R_Kelly.

Yes, I had tried to copy the contents of the Setup disk to both my external Seagate drive and the right on the C: drive, itself, but without success.

But I just live a miracle and installed like butter - to my total surprise.  I will share my experience in case where someone Vienna with a similar problem and maybe help them my situation.

When I installed the "rescue disk" to replace my whole OS on my laptop, technicians had given me a choice in the options that I didn't really know how to choose, and I've been an IT professional at the end of the 1990s. That's where I got in trouble. What I wanted to do, it was just to crush my Windows XP Pro SP3, as we do in the 'old days' when computers were free and not all the owners. When I chose to remove the current Windows partition to make room for the new facility, apparently she also deleted the registry and my computer had no knowledge of the programs I had installed and I had to reinstall just about everything.   I thought I was okay with that.

Finalizing the installation of the new Windows OS, I was asked to give my computer a 'name '.  Well, I do remember that I never gave a name before and there was no place for me to go to discover. So, I gave her a name 'JudiLenova '.  When I couldn't have my programs to run, I thought that maybe I had lost not only my registry file, but maybe some ini files I had left do not recognize this name, so I changed it to "Judi", still don't not Recalling that, if necessary, the name I had given him before.  As I met problems with trying to install Photoshop, I watched my systems directories and saw that there was equal files in two different ways, one for each name. I was wondering if perhaps BACK, which cannot make decisions, could not decide which way was the right one to find files, I needed. Of course, I wish not to use the option "repair" on the hot spare, but it was too late. I need this computer to use all the tools I have installed on it.

I bought a program powerful fixit recommended by CNET to fix things and he has found more than 1400 problems but still nothing solved this problem.

One thing I noticed is that sometimes when I do a restart of the computer, Windows Installer suddenly would show complete installation of Photoshop, but then he'd stop initialization because of the recovery. (So close and yet so far!)  I knew that the old system was over and stupidly I had deleted the full backup that I had stored on the Seagate, then I looked at the option 'restore' to see what thresholds it was to see if maybe I could go back to a bygone era. The only restore point, that I had was for the day that I had installed the hot spare. I said "what the heck" and opted to make it back. When I made this choice, I received the message that the major change would be that the name of the computer would change "Judi" to "JudiLenova."  I thought it might solve some of my problem. Surprisingly, it seems to have solved the problem of Photoshop because I put the disc in my drive D: and wide, she went without a hitch!

My hunch is that BACK could not find the Install Shield to activate the installation. Whatever the cause of the miracle, I am grateful that I didn't not throw my computer in the Lake outside my window... but of course, it was tempting.

Thanks again for your attempts to rescue me. I hope this helps the guy next door happens.  Now, I'll try to install the rest of my beloved old programs Adobe and everything.   Fingers crossed!

    Judi :-)

  • Thunderbird has lost all my accounts and settings

I have been using T-bird for years with only the default profile. I have my personal Setup account separately 2 corporate accounts that are grouped in the local folders.

Yesterday, when I rebooted and started the T-bird, it was as if I had never set up all the accounts. There is no folder or messages and all my accounts had disappeared.

I checked the C:\Users\Owner\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\xxxxxxxx.default and the files are still there. It is just that my default profile is not to use them, even if the correct folder is displayed when I go to help/troubleshooting and click on 'display the folder '.

I suspect a main index file (prefs.js) is damaged or has been deleted, which should bind the T-bird to all other files in my profile. How to make T-bird to reconnect with my data files of this profile?

Found my own answer, even though none of the research or the pages of support.mozilla.org were of no use either.

Google found Disappearing mail - MozillaZine Knowledge Base led me to retrieve a profile that suddenly disappeared - MozillaZine Knowledge Base

In this last article, I found this text

    • A quick way to say what problem you are suffering from is to look at your personal address book in Thunderbird. If it seems correct, proceed to the section corrupted or empty prefs.js . Otherwise, follow the instructions in the lost profile section.

After going to the section corrupt prefs.js or empty , I found this is my answer:

    • Otherwise, you need to rebuild prefs.js. You can do this by creating the same accounts again in the existing profile and Thunderbird to use directories that contain always the missing mail, by this article that Recovering deleted accounts e-mail - MozillaZine Knowledge Base. Another option is to create a new profile using the Profile Manager, create the accounts again and then migrate your e-mail, address books, filters, and other related files of mail of the old profile by this article.
  • receipt email sky now, but want to thunderbird again. How do I do that

I HAD PREVIOUSLY, WHEN THUNDERBIRD WE VIRGIN AS ISP, NOW HAVE SKY AS INTERNET SERVICE PROVIDER, BUT NOT LIKE A HE EMAIL WHICH IS THROUGH YAHOO. I TRIED THUNDERBIRD DOWNLOAD BUT CANNOT GET IT TO WORK, IT SAYS CANT LINK TO MOZILLA. I HAVE NOW ENTERED MY SYSTEM AND DELETE THE PROGRAM FILES AS AS MUCH AS I COULD, BEFORE YOU TRY TO DOWNLOAD IT AGAIN, I WAS WONDERING IF YOU HAD ANY ADVICE AS HOW TO GET TO THIS SUBJECT. ANY HELP APPRECIATED.

I'm a bit confused. Link to Mozilla? As much as I know Mozilla does not a mail server. Thunderbird is a client that can connect to your mail server account.
(Yahoo) You can get free from many places e-mail accounts (do not a new gmail you)

If you open the account settings and button down 'shares account.
You can select "Add an e-mail account" and "get a new account".
This will (hopfully) to connect to a mail server provider

  • I downloaded Thunderbird 31.3.0, Setup, but it won't work!

My Thunderbird on this machine has stopped working properly yesterday. He refused to download emails from my account - but it was to see the correct number of emails on the mail server. He cannot accept that updates (it was at 24.6 version but would not accept the update of 31.3.0). In desperation, I deleted the program and return to basics, download a 'new' version of 31.3 from the web pages of Thunderbird. However, after completing the download, the update has refused to run.

Meanwhile, Thunderbird on my other computer updated itself to 31.3-both machines are running Windows 8 (64-bit). However, my master e-mail files and folders are on this machine so I am anxious to ensure operation Thunderbird here. So as far as I can see the two machines have the same set up, the same protection anti-virus (Norton 360) the only obvious difference is that this machine has a Core i5 processor, while the laptop is a Core i3.

What should I do to get the update to run?

Norton is fickle... check the firewall component that Thunderbird is allowed... Not automatic

    Disable e-mail analysis.
    Restart and try again.

Note... install Thunderbird 31.3 http://getthunderbird.com if you install an earlier version and try to update.

  • Thunderbird is not digitally sign or encrypt a message even if everything is set to do

I'm unable to digitally sign messages. Unfortunately, I can't find all the problems other than the fact that the message is simply not signed on the receiving end. Here's all the information I thought useful easily:

    • CERT is found/load via device OpenSC and certificates are declared as valid
    • Sign and encrypt the certificates have been specified for the account without problem
    • During the preparation of a message, digitally sign this Message is checked and security info reports Yes for a digital signature view
    • As soon as the message is sent, the error console reports that NS_ERROR_FAILURE: trying to change a card Exchange GAL. Resource://exquilla/ewsAbDirectory.jsm line 850
    • No additional element of note occurred when you try encrypt a message. 'S simply not done it independently of Thunderbird saying the message will be signed and encrypted.

    The following software is used:

    • Linux Mint 17 (Ubuntu 14.04/similar is a difficult requirement)
    • Thunderbird 45.4.0

  • moving old data thunderbird again thunderbird install on the same computer and win - 7

The operating system (Win-7) has become corrupted on my main PC, so my provider upgraded 4 year old machine to
a new Mobo etc and reloaded Win-7. The original "C" drive, with the previous copy of Thunderbird is now on the
system as a local drive. I would like to transfer at least the old copy of Thunderbird address book to the
new install. Should what files I move. It should be reasonably simple copy disc to disc. The plan is to
move critical data from the old 'C' drive and once done, reformat for use as a local drive only.

You must search for the profile on your old hard drive and move it to your drive to work.

    https://support.Mozilla.org/en-us/KB/Profiles-TB

If you really want only the address book, you can copy only the files abook.mab and history.mab . Other .mab files can be copied, but you will need to import them using this add-on:

  • Lost password 'setup' portable ARMARDA E500 BIOS update.

I have an old E500 ARMARDA which works very well and don't want to lose him.  How can I get around the demand for 'PASSWORD' during the upgrade of its file of bios with the 'SP20947 '. File "EXE" downloaded hepl HPCOMPAQ page I can't find my password?  This password is requested in the dialoge BACK box when I try to run the downloaded file. Any ideas anyone? Thank you. Chris has shone.

Did what you said. When the computer reboots, it wouldn't start so I put the disk in drive A that I did with the sp20947.exe on her file and Bingo! I was overall upward with the old password passed.  Made my own p/w, etc. and filled the various bits and pieces in the installation program and so I'm now much further. This old machine has now turned into a battle of wills between me and her.  Still hard to start, but I changed the boot order, so I can get BACK with a boot disc and I activated "Multiboot" in the installer.  This thing is 15 years old is small battery RTC may need renewal? It does not seem to keep a track of date and time.  Also, do you know that if I could get a download of the manual you referred me to.  This is nothing like the manual supplied with the machine.  Finally, thank you very much.  There was no chance that I have that would have solved mine.  Thank you very much, Chris Shone, (even more of the machine!)

  • I have lost my EFS (ENCRYPTING File System) to change my OS. How can I recover my data.

Some time ago I encrypt my jpeg with password file. I changed the operating system yesterday. by the operating system to format I lost my certificate EFS (ENCRYPTING File System) and at the moment I have no backup certificates. so please help me, can I recover my data. If yes how?

    Hello

Thanks for posting the request in the Microsoft community forums!

If your encryption key is lost or damaged and you don't have a way to recover your data, the data is lost. Also, you will lose data if you store your encryption key on a smart card and the smart card is damaged or lost. To make sure you can always access your encrypted data, you should back up your encryption certificate and key.

You can check the links for more information.

  • For two years, slow sending e-mail messages of deposit and Thunderbird? (10 of Windows). In addition, "not responding" in Thunderbird and Firefox

I use 10 64-bit Windows and again any time I send an email with Thunderbird, the program hangs when sending and storing a copy. I had this problem for more than two years. Why the Mozilla team did not something to fix this problem? I found support from several years ago questions, talk about the same issue.

Lifting is Thunderbird querying your Domain Name Services (DNS) on your computer IP address of the mail server. This information is cached locally, but it is a Web server, it comes to the same thing that happens when you type goggle.com in the web browser address bar.

If you anti virus does not behave correctly. Or your DNS server is a slug, things are going slowly. Interestingly, google will probably always go fast, as their information cached a time To Live (TTL) is looked at once it could ve quite some time before the cached information goes stale. E-mail server often have very short TTL, so I have to be looked up almost every time they are used. If you have security software which cleans this DNS cache automatically, or prevents it existing in the first place. Then your internet connection will generally be slower.

One thing you might try is changing your DNS server computers (most likely your ISP Googles 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 not I have no idea what operating system you are using. I suggest you google how to change DNS servers.

The connection is where your anti virus is in the way. In some cases completely divert the connection and suitor to Thunderbird that Anti virus IS the remote server in a man in the middle of the hack.

However a month ago asking you why Firefox is excruciatingly slow. You seem to have abandoned this question. Was it because you were asked to do something for you diagnose the problem?

Around the same time, you asked about Thunderbird. I took a guess, even if it's an unintelligible question. No response from you. A I've hit the mark or not you again lost interest because the answer did not suit you?

You seem to have much the same questions again and again. It is likely that your anti virus is the primary cause of most of them.
