Thunderbird crashes on win 8.1

I'm under Win 8.1 and 24.4 you bird

You bird stalls on each activity... to access new messages, delete/move/sending of messages, even to open the mail. The stall takes usually 30 seconds each time.

I reinstalled the program, deleted the antivirus e-mail scanning and compacted my mailboxes. nothing seems to help. any ideas?

is that works. Christ1-thanks for the reply

  • Thunderbird crashes after installation of vn 38.4. Solved. Cause - bad record?

(This question was published only because I could not respond to existing similar questions without registering first.)

Problem was apparently a Thunderbird randomly hanging after automatic update to 38.4 on Windows 7 Enterprise. The process of dropping out/no response took place a few minutes after start of TB, compose messages, send or download of IMAP mail.

Shortcut to the final solution - probably corrupted files or folders at the OS level.

For those who are conducting similar research I also watched the references linked below.

En route to the solution, various obfuscation were met, all of which were interesting but NONE OF THESE solved the problem of the suspension, namely:

-back to Thunderbird 38.1 extracted from Mozilla's FTP repository

-Disable all modules in SafeMode as suggested in posts below

-deactivation of reminders on calendar, pop ups and sounds like suggested in the posts below

-turn off sounds (in the systray) as suggested in posts below and new mail alerts

-Discover, finally, only one of the half-dozen or so synchronized account IMAPs has caused the problem, which is an account Exchange-synced via the excellent DavMail (Davmail upgrade to the latest version was another diversion)

-assuming that the compaction of TB was not his work and that he is too much vacuum/zombie files left lying around, leading to a redundant cleanup using Thunderfix (http://www.parhelia-tools.com/products/thunderfix/thunderfix.aspx), was nevertheless his cleaning of employment but not a solution

    What worked then...

The procedure of backup profiles recommended TB in Thunderfix and elsewhere led to discover that the copy of Windows has won at least one file during the copy. Suspecting lower level corruption, I ran chkdsk D: /f (since all data are on D: and not on C: with the operating system). No major problems found aprt of 4 files analyzed once again.

I resorted to the use of SynckbackSE to do the backup instead, noting that one of the failures was Junk.msf. That and the knowledge that the account linked to Exchange was the likely to be the culprit, I restarted and deleted everything in IMAPmail\localhost\ (DavMail connects via localhost stored files).

Restart Thunderbird (always on 38.1) and connect via DavMail pulled back all messages and folders from the source Exchange to resynchronize records localhost TB successfully. No need to use backup or same setting of TB.

Will probably now improve return to 38.1 after a period of stability.

After years of use of Thunderbird of the dowry of the year, it's nice to know that it was not primarily at fault.

  • Thunderbird crashes on some messages - how to read these messages?

Two colleagues of an organization in particular I sent emails a day. Whenever I try to open, Thunderbird crashes and I can not read the messages. They sent me new messages later--and I have no problem of their opening.

The accident report ID is bp-7024757b-9db9-4e3c-8916-bfac62151019.

How can I read their original messages? Why did they cause Thunderbird crash?

Thanks in advance for all you can give me advice!

    Dan

Thunderbird is not an email service. If you tend to think of this as your "Thunderbird account" then it's probably one provided by your Internet service provider.

The part after the ' @' in your email address usually indicates that provides and manages your e-mail account.

Is this the same sender for this third message? Do you know what e-mail program they use?

I've seen some disturbing issues with messages sent by users of Apple Mail, where the parts of the text will miss, leading to embarrassing and difficult, situations where some wonder why the other did not. A strange formatting used by the Apple caused Outlook program to think that the message had been terminated. In an e-mail program, the missing text was visible and recoverable.

This isn't quite your situation, but it will show that there may be less than 100% compatibility between e-mail clients. Microsoft and Apple have their own specific peculiarities.

  • Thunderbird crashes after startup

    Hello

I have problems with Thunderbird crash just seconds after the start of the program.
I use Mac OS X 10.9.4 (Mavericks) and after that the accident took place first, I upgraded to Thunderbird and then also uninstalled and reinstalled it.
Before it crashes, however, it appears a message telling me that a certain mail cannot be filtered in one of my folders.
I don't know if this is related to the accident, as sometimes happens.

Then about 5 seconds later, Thunderbird crashes and opens the crash reporter.

  • Thunderbird crashes a few seconds after the start, even when the reinstalled. Caused by Facebook Photo Uploader' (fbplugin) [@ CoreFoundation@0x9186]

The basics: Mac OS X 10.10.1 Yosemite, 10 GB of RAM. Version of Thunderbird 31.3.0 (although the same thing happens when I try the previous and subsequent versions).

Symptom: Thunderbird crashes after a few seconds of commissioning. I have enough time, click a menu or two, maybe watch a message, then it crashes.

    Attempts at solutions:

-Departure of Thunderbird in Safe Mode.

-From the Mac in Safe Mode.

-Removed ~/Library/Preferences/org.mozilla.thunderbird.plist and ~/Library/Preferences/Thunderbird, removing the Thunderbird application, empty the trash and reinstall Thunderbird of mozilla.org.

-With the help of Yosemite Cache Cleaner to scan the hard disk for viruses and deep - clean all user and system puts in cache.

-Boot from the recovery partition, repair disk permissions and repair the file system.

The only time that Thunderbird has more or less stable is just after I deleted all preferences, it starts, and I do the initial editing for my email account. Everything seems normal, and my list of IMAP folders. But shortly after that Thunderbird crashes again and hangs at each subsequent reboot.

It is a problem that has developed in the last Wednesday, 24 Dec. before that the program worked very well. No other program on my computer at work doesn't show any symptoms. Thunderbird runs on my Mac at home (same versions of software) and on my Linux computer at work.

I'm at a loss what to try next. Any ideas?

    Thank you.

Thunderbird is compatible with Windows 10. Defender problems are exactly that. Something that Microsoft needs to fix.

Regarding a malicious attachments go. What of them?

Before they can do any harm, they must be transformed into a binary file in the text, they are converted to attach them to the message and then be written in the Temp folder so they can be passed to the operating system with an application for opening of their. An antivirus program that cannot detect the payload of a newly written file and keep it opens is not worth the CPU cycles which is uses for to fail in its primary function. Defender claims to do this. If it isn't, still an issue for Microsoft. Now Thunderbird...

  • Running Windows 7, the new version of Thunderbird crashes my whole system about 90 seconds after its launch.

The system hangs. Nothing does, do not move the mouse. CTRL + Alt + Delete does nothing. Only way to proceed is to shut down the computer and restart. I use Thunderbird for years with no problems, until the most recent upgrade.
I tried to restart and launch other programs, but Thunderbird leads to the same result. I also tried to launch Thunderbird, open the address book window and close the window of mail electronic mail. It always breaks my computer after about 90 seconds.

OK, this accident probably won't help us a lot. I had once more. Basically, it's a deliberate attempt to block Thunderbird when a setback occurs. Unfortunately, while we stopped crashes, no one has identified a single cause that we can hang our hats.

Now if overwrite Windows is something very different and implies something that has access to the kernel of the operating system level. It's drivers and anti virus programs basically.

IF safe mode helped try this in normal mode.

In the toolbar > Options > General Advanced and disable hardware acceleration.

  • Thunderbird crash when sending a message or a copy in the sent mail

I use Thunderbird on Yosemite 10.10.4 38.2.0 (Mac), to connect to Gmail via their IMAP server.

I have been using Thunderbird for many years. The last two weeks, a problem has resurfaced. It seems that Thunderbird loses contact with the IMAP of Gmail server. Two things occur:

    (1) crashes when sending a message: it hangs on "connecting to smtp.gmail.com. After awhile, I hit cancel them and send again and the message passes through. (screenshot attached)

    (2) hangs when copying to sent mail: I compacted my sent mail folder and it still hangs. Yet once I hit Cancel, and he me reprompts. After clicking ok several times, he finally saves the email in the folder.

I am also intermittently an error message "unable to run filters on the message" or something like that. Sporadically, in this case it is so difficult to reproduce.

I have a feeling that the problem is actually the Google server. I was in a new access provider, so at first I thought it was related to this. However, I have tested this in two places, including my university network (temple.edu) and observed the same problems. So, I don't think it's my local network connection.

I found no information that Google has hurt. I think that other users would see the same thing. The problem with the copy sent mail before in older versions of Thunderbird. The usual alternatives were to compact the file and play with the process boundary setting.

This is the case on almost every message I send now, and I send a lot of email, so I need to help this debugging.

    Thank you.

By lifting the server indicates you have DNS problems. Something other r4eport as being useful is a ditch their ISP DNS and use Googles. It's
IP 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. For instructions, see https://www.opennicproject.org/configure-your-dns/how-to-change-dns-servers-on-a-mac/

However, do not check e-mail in the "sent" folder is also very annoying because I can't delete this folder.

Normally, Thunderbird saves mail in the sent folder. In the case of Gmail, all outgoing mail is autoatically added to the Gmail sent folder, and in the case of IMAP synchronizes it to the same folder in Thunderbird. So I guess that you are not using IMAP for your mail. Would this be the case? If you use POP, do a right-click on the account, select settings and folder on behalf of copies and put so save outgoing mail. Maybe it's that, for your EDU that Google do not save in the folder mail. In this case with regard to POPs.

Well you can go to the cutting edge and use the daily version which should have anti patch crash inside now,

But just try first right-click the Inbox, select properties and then fix it. Also try the folder in the same way. I think that the issue could be an indication of corruption which it restores, but it's not really clear.

  • "All messages" afater crashes I cleaned messages and Thunderbird crashes within 30 seconds of opening - what can do?

My T-bird planted a lot and very slow, so I cleaned 2 years worth of the old mail out of the folder "all messages". Now, the "All messages" function freezes and if I try to open a mail or go to another folder, my T-Bird crashes. also, it does not send a crash report. I reinstalled, but no change. For several months he has been arbitrarily to send mail in the trash and I was not able to find a way to stop it, so I need to check the trash every day. I am synchronized with g-mail, but the Gmail account does not receive mail trashed by the T-bird. I'm afraid of T-bird to uninstall because I lost all my old email. Solutions?

Gmails "All messages" folder is the folder to Archive and contains a copy of all your emails.

So if you have subscribed to see and also synchronized, you'll double the size of your profile.

Gmails all emails are stored in "all messages".
Labels are placed so that you can see them as if in different folders.
If you delete e-mails from "All posts" so these emails will be removed from all other files that can be written.
