Time capsule making it faster wifi

How will I know?  After pluging in time capsule for mainly, backup. I was informed that my strength and speed of the wifi at home will be much improved. Is there something I'm supposed to do and how do I know if I get this speed.  Last night, I got to sit right next to the router will send a Twitter?

It won't change anything, unless you use the wi - fi of the time Capsule. If your wi - fi connection is from another source, then nothing will change. You even set up the wireless on the TC?

If you want to make sure that you will be able to get the Apple support in case of problems or questions with your backups, you must use the wireless Time Capsule to back up your Mac.

As long as the time Capsule provides a wireless signal, you can decide who to your 'main' network, then use it wireless Uverse for "guest", or children. If you do not need the Uverse router/modem wireless at all, it is possible to turn off wireless on the device and make it work only as a support modem/router...with Uverse wired.

At this point, you can start thinking about how you want to configure things and get back in touch if you need some advice on how to do it.  We need to know what operating system that uses the Mac that you normally use to administer the time Capsule, provide good instructions, if you need it.

  • Airport Apple Time Capsule vs Rogers Advanced WiFi Modem Configuration

Between the use of the advanced WiFi modem from Rogers and airport Time Capsule from Apple - a better/more strong WiFi signal will offer?

I'm under Apple Airport time Caro as my router now (with Rogers Advanced WiFi modem mode 'bridge').    However - my WiFi connection is weak/inconsistent even after adding 1 Airport Express to extend the network.    My Modem/router are connected with a 2 foot Cat6 my ground floor, with the Airport Express on the floor to extend the reach (via WiFi - not the ethernet connection).

When I reset my router/modem, get full power - however, after a couple days I get slower speeds.

Any ideas how to fix?  Users are finding you work better than the other?

Between the use of the advanced WiFi modem from Rogers and airport Time Capsule from Apple - a better/more strong WiFi signal will offer?

Turn on the Rogers modem in router mode and launch his wifi... Plug the TC and run it in bridge, but also launch wireless audio... There is absolutely NO reason not to use both... You will often find the 2.4 ghz superior to the airport the Rogers Wireless. Apple has deliberately reduced its speed... If you need set channels wireless manual... for example of Rogers on the TC on Channel 6 and channel 11.

5 GHz has penetration and poor range, especially when you look at the wireless signal directly above or below any router... It is of course extremely beneficial to use ethernet between the floors... Run the Rogers down and move the TC on the floor... that gives you much better signal allows you to get the most out of two wireless routers.

Extend (Repeater) wireless using the Express will condemn you slow wireless forever. Repeaters by their nature even halve the speed of the connection... and if you place the Express in a poor signal area... getting worse. Express should be located to midway between the two... no physical distance but the power of the signal... If it gets bad signal, it will give terrible results since its own signal will be strong for customers.

Test it... give up the Express... run ethernet to the top of the stairs and just try it with the TC to the right place.

  • Is it possible to use express Airport and Time Capsule both as two Wifi-repeaters at the same time?

    Hello

I have a time Capsule from the airport. I use it for my back ups and he repeats my wifi in the House (bottom).

Now I need a Repeater wifi upstairs. I think to buy Airport Express. I will connect the Airport express with a Lan connection on the floor. And then I would also have wifi on the floor.

But is it possible to use the time Capsule Airport express airport and at the same time: two repeaters-wifi?

    1. I have a Fritz! Box router / wifi (we called wifi Fritz! box)

    2. I have a time Capsule airport / wifi Repeater (we called the turtle wifi)

3 and now I want Airport express on the floor for the wifi upstairs (another name for this wifi?)

    Is this possible?

Before I had used TP-link (in socket), but it works for a few months.

Thank you for your help and advice.

    2. I have a time Capsule airport / wifi Repeater (we called the turtle wifi)

I think that your terminology wrong... the TC cannot work as a Repeater in the Frtiz.

I think that you have done is connect via ethernet and run it as wireless... or WAP Access Point. It is perfectly great way to do it.

3 and now I want Airport express on the floor for the wifi upstairs (another name for this wifi?)

This is connected by ethernet, then it will work fine... you can call it Expresswifi

You are certainly going to clutter the wireless channels, you could so be interesting rather than auto setting fastenings.

2.4 ghz has been set to 1, TC 6 and 11 Express then Frtiz.

5 GHz is less of a problem... auto should be fine, because the beach is mediocre.

  • Time Capsule and residents share WiFi?

I use my TC at home with my private WiFi.

I plan to move to a modern village with a shared WiFi residents.

If I have an Ethernet output at home for shared Internet, can I use my TC by plugging the Ethernet him and create a private WiFi or there is something that I have to take care of in order to be sure that it will work?

If I have an Ethernet output at home for shared Internet, can I use my TC by plugging the Ethernet him and create a private WiFi

Yes.  In order to have a "private" network, you will need to implement the TC as a router.

There is something that I have to take care of in order to be sure that it will work?

Normally, no. But it's sometimes a tricky installation, you will know exactly what is needed, until you try to configure things.

  • boosters of WiFi and time Capsules

I want to increase my wifi signal, and I'm getting conflicting advice. I use my Time Capsule as my source wifi. I see a numebr of extenders of wifi on Amazon, but it works best with TC? Are these devices plug - and p; Ay?

    Thank you.

What works the 'better' with the TC is either another TC AirPort Extreme and AirPort Express base station as all of them use the same propriety technology to extend a wireless network.

  • Time capsule and extreme; Cannot create the roaming network

Problem: when you try to create a network roaming with time capsule and extreme, the wifi hangs and the network is up and down. Here are my deets:

TC and extreme as well have the latest firmware of the 7.7.7 are the latest generation of products, purchased in the last 12 months

TC is connected to Arris SB6183

ISP is Cox North san diego County

TC is then connected to the netgear GS105. (upstairs)

NETGEAR GS105 then connects to GS108 (down in the patch panel in the closet of the master bedroom)

    1 x GS108 port connects to extreme

I can get the stable network and works correctly as long as I don't have connected and extreme.

I followed the instructions provided by apple in their "how to set up a roaming network.

I have hard reset the devices apple repeatedly in my attempt to get things to work

I started a Wan shortly ago at the connected WiFi and that was stable and work for not more than 30 minutes and then it went offline.

So here I am now. Unable to get back online and stable with two apple devices connected network.

System was stable and working well before the upgrade to 7.7.7. I had a wifi connected network not a roaming network at the time.

Any suggestion would be great and really appreciated.

    Thank you

After screenshots of the TC and AE installing airport utility.

I suspect that you simply have something set wrong...

Main error is to use extend wireless when it is connected by ethernet... This will create a loop and bring down the network.

The two units must be defined to create a wireless network... both must use the same name (SSID) and the same password, but must be set to different channels.

It is almost impossible in this case crashing the network since the two are completely independent Wireless Access Points... (WAP).

The TC must be in router mode... EI must be in the bridge (bridge mode off on the network tab.)

  • Problem of Time Capsule Roaming Network airport

I'm having a problem by establishing a network of roaming.  When I plug my extender devices in ethernet cables through a switch to my Time Capsule base station, my wifi signal drops 150 + MBS next to the base station to < 10 mbs.

I have a wifi in my home network based on a new time Capsule airport base station (ATCBS) running firmware c. 7.7.7.  I have my 4th gen AEBS & a 2nd gen Airport express both race v. 7.6.7 updated firmware in place in Bridge mode to extend my network in different rooms in my house. The system works very well, but I wanted to increase the power of the signal in remote places so decided I would like to convert it to a mobile network by installing ethernet cables to connect my ATCBS the AEBS and express extensions.  I use a switch Netgear 5 port (NOT of GS205-100) that I only have a single LAN fanless available left port on my ATCBS.

I installed 3 ethernet lines-1 each in rooms with my ATCBS and airport express using mounting wall punch down taken using the convention of wiring 568B, AEBS.  These lines all end with male plugs in a unique space in the basement and are also wired as 568B.  Then I plug the ATCBS, AEBS and express lines in the switch in this remote area.

I've done a few connection cables in the role of Cat 6 cable, I had over the House, and they all very well with my cable Tester check so I know the cable itself is not defective.  The cables all run in the basement where I can see, so I know there is not any problem to be crimped/damaged.  I have not any gear to test the installed well son.  I visually inspected the male and female (punchdown) ends to ensure that colors are properly prepared.  I did a test of my jacks punchdown conductivity by testing 8 wires on the sides of the socket and the pins in gold on the inside where an ethernet cable connecting between the cut ends.  All wires are correctly leads to the appropriate pins.

If I plug just the ATCBS into the switch next to him and using a good patch cable I see no change in the strength of the Wifi.  If I can plug my express (also moved to the room of the base station) using another cable good patch in the switch, wifi drops as described above.  If I plug the ATCBS on the new socket and the switch at the other end - no change in force wifi.  If I plug the express in its remote location system also uses the new ethernet cable installed for him and passing through the switch, I get the wifi signal reduction.  I get the same result if I take the express up to thevbasemenbt and plulg the switch with a connecting cable).  It seems therefore that the problem may not be with the newly installed cables that I get the same result by using or by using cables good patch, and with the switch in the same room with the ACTBS.  It doesn't matter how I'm trying to connect all the devices together, plug extender devices into the system brings the WiFi falling to almost nothing.

Any ideas on what could happen?

I'm having a problem by establishing a network of roaming.  When I plug my extender devices in ethernet cables through a switch to my Time Capsule base station, my wifi signal drops 150 + MBS next to the base station to < 10 mbs.

That's what happens when you initially set up the device to the airport "extend" using a wireless signal... and then later connect an Ethernet cable to the unit of the airport.

Since the airport is configured to connect wireless and waiting for a wireless connection, the Ethernet connection and then creates a feedback loop massive on the entire network... in fact, basically crashed the network.

Basically, you have to start over again with the AEBS and AirPort Express and "Apple Installation Wizard" to set things upward. It's practically automatic. All you need to do is assign a device name to each airport and the wizard supports all the rest.

After the back if you need some advice on how to correctly configure things.  You can be amazed at how simple, it comes... and surprised by the wizard settings apply.

  • I want to connect to my computer for ethernet and my time capsule

Is there a way to connect my iMac directly to Ether and also use my time capsule for backup and wifi?

I have my to my Time Capsule ranging cable modem ethernet and ethernet connecting my Time Capsule to my iMac.

  • need help to set up time capsule as a backup only

I used Time Capsule as a router wifi and backup for several years.  The wifi didn't give me the whole House coverage so I bought the mesh network eero newly released product. I still want to use my Time Capsule for backup and, as he already has about two years of backup on this subject, I don't want to lose these backups. I created a new network for eero routers but gave the network of the same name and password as the old TC network so that all my devices would automatically connect to the new network.  That has worked well.  Is it possible to connect the time Capsule to the my wireless network so that my MacBook and MBP my wife will continue to save on the network they were?  The eero router has two Ethernet ports on the back and the two are to be used (one for the modem, the other for Sonos) so I do not have an available port to use.  Can I buy a switch if I have to, but if there is a wireless solution I would rather.

I also have a desktop Mac that has saved on the TC and it's my main computer.

Thanks a lot for your help.

Is it possible to connect the time Capsule to the my wireless network so that my MacBook and MBP my wife will continue to save on the network they were?

No, you cannot join the TC now network a wireless router not apple. Apple has removed this feature because he was too... too slow, unreliable and missing too many apples.

The eero router has two Ethernet ports on the back and the two are to be used (one for the modem, the other for Sonos) so I do not have an available port to use.  Can I buy a switch if I have to, but if there is a wireless solution I would rather.

You can run the TC between eero router and the sonos.

Connect the wan port on TC eero and Sonos to the TC lan port. Configure the TC in Bridge mode. Disable the wireless sound. (Or you can leave the wireless on but use a different name for your eero wireless now).

The TC will work like a switch... this side of it will work fine.

How well the works of TC depends on the OS everything works... You can find it is actually necessary to paginate on the TC to make backups of the laptops wireless. Apple has made changes to the DNS system that broke network so that it can be impossible for computers discover the TC after a few hours after a reboot.

Give it a try... If this does not work then you need to be more creative.

The TC can connect through ethernet in the desktop computer. But for this, it must be configured with a different range of IP addresses for the rest of the network. Again, you can use wireless on... but the laptop will have to make backups by a different method. It gets complicated very quickly.

Tell me what IP range using the eero router?

I can make a few suggestions more as soon as we clear.

  • Restore backup after the reset Time Capsule (1st generation) using Windows PC

I apologize if this question is somewhere already. I tried to find an answer and I've seen similar discussions but not exactly what I need.

A bit of history... The location is a small school with about 10 cameras, its network systems, point of sale, cloud networked storage, etc. Was asked by the owner to create or activate a Guest WiFi SSID. They said he worked at the same time, but some work was done by a previous technician and they lost the WiFi of comments.

So I used the Airport utility to access the time Capsule. However, after the change to the next level (enable the public IP sharing? maybe?), he ended up destroying the entire network, as in nothing was back upward when the utility scanned for devices. Even the Time Capsule was not recognized by the utility. I ended up doing a hard reset on the Time Capsule and do my best to manually configure the device again, even though I was not initially designed the network. I have also discovered that 1st generation Time Capsules have no comments WiFi capabilities.

To make a long story short (too late... "I know sorry..) .. I got most of the features, functions, etc. on the network back where they were before, with the exception of camera systems and a network storage device active cloud to the owner's House.  What I would like to know is... Since then, I understand that a hard reset does NOT erase the backup or other data on the shared disk in the time Capsule... is there an easy way to restore the settings of all of the time Capsule before the problem occurred?  I would need to do this using a Windows computer.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. What I'm trying to avoid the most is having to reset all the cameras, which are upstairs, hard to reach areas. I guess that people who were previously assigned on the cameras must still be there. If only I could get the Capsule of time exactly where it was before he went down, which would allow me to save a lot of time and frustration.

You can also (2nd choice)... If there is a simple way to detect the active network cameras and other devices on the Time Capsule and pull the IP out of them, that would be helpful as well.

    Thanks in advance for answers!

What I would like to know is... Since then, I understand that a hard reset does NOT erase the backup or other data on the shared disk in the time Capsule... is there an easy way to restore the settings of all of the time Capsule before the problem occurred?

    You have my sympathy all...

Been to this place before today... and I always get myself into it by pure stubbornness... I should just walk on some of these jobs and tell them too hard...!

What you had to do was to export the configuration before you start playing. Without export of the configuration there is not much hope of healing to less than the previous tech saved a configuration to the unit... This example gets much delicate.

The TC is actually able to contain several configurations... There is a good chance, however, that wipe you the.

Anyway... coming to the serious Tin. (same version on Mac and PC utility should work the same).

Here's my TC who foolishly a reset.

When I do something... first manual configuration, I wonder is to revert to the previous version.

You have done or could you saved the previous settings as a profile... I hope that you did... in the hope...!

IF so, you have a saved profile.

In the area of the top menu go in manage profiles.

Now, if you are lucky or did the job just last time... by accident... you'll have a saved profile... Just click back.

If nothing is there, or it's current settings... Sorry, but you didn't know something was there... and you cannot was expected to know the trouble you would get yourself in.

If you have changed a setting in the TC of the bridge in router mode...

(enable the public IP sharing? maybe?)

Getting back to what it was... mode bridge being the most common.

At the bridge of the TC does control most things... and you need to return to the main router.

If the TC kicking upward a stench to return to the bridge, reset it simply still once and then bridge will work... It would be useful to loads to remember what was the setting... just to see the bridge takes the TC of the equation to know where the cameras are.

If the cameras are on static IP, they will respond to a ping scanner... If the primary router is configured for a standard range of IP addresses... 192.168.1.xxx some.

Then the TC in bridge must have also taken an ip address in this range and the cameras (Ethernet or wireless)?

I hope that ethernet, but if they were using the TC as a wireless access point, unless you know exactly the SSID wireless as it was in the past then you do not have this info...

Look at any computer, they have in the building that was running wireless and watch all the SSID that they use... one of these is likely the TC and you can restore this name.

Or drop a camera... and ethernet allows to connect to him... and find the ssid, that it's been fixed... redefine the TC on this name (SSID) wireless security... all cameras must be able to connect to it... and you can then restore the entire system by connecting to the IP address that will be displayed in the list on the main router.

Good luck.. as says Han Solo... you'll need!

  • How to solve my Time Capsule that does not show a green light?

Installed my Time Capsule in a new home. My service is xfinity that has WiFi built into the modem. Time Capsule also has active WiFi. The two WiFi options work perfectly. However, my Time Capsule shows a light yellow rather than green light, so I know that something is wrong with the system. I disconnected Time Capsule and restarted - does not solve the problem. What is the Protocol for troubleshooting to solve the problem?

You have to open the summary in airport utility page... It is enough to click the icon of the TC and read the problem in the list.

    for example

Tell us what each question is and we can help you to solve this... but if you click on each of them will be offered a cure... or you can ignore the error.

  • WiFi to my Time Capsule still degrades 2.4 GHz instead of 5 GHz

My capsule of time always degrades to the band of 2.4 GHz instead to be linked to the 5 GHz band when I'm browsing the internet, doing someone knows if it's an antenna, problem of router or a drop of water lost connection Bean, thanks.

Your Time Capsule is not downgraded to 2.4 GHz at all, it's always the production both a 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz network at any time. That's why's called it a double router broadband simultaneously .  Wireless devices will be automatically connect at 5 GHz or 2.4 Gz based on their own abilities and their distance from the time Capsule.

5 GHz signals are 'faster' signals, but they are also 'weaker' signals, so you no longer have a lot of success with 5 GHz when wireless devices are in the same room or have line-of-sight to the time Capsule. Once a device moves a piece or more away from the time Capsule, the device 'sees' the stronger 2.4 GHz signal here and commute to 2.4 Ghz for the connection stronger.

Unfortunately, once a device powered 2.4 GHz, usually not going to happen 5 GHz unless you temporarily disable WiFi on the device and then turn it on again. If the device "sees" a 5 GHz signal strong enough, then it will connect to this network.

If you want devices to connect at 5 GHz, using an option to assign a different name for the 5 GHz network, you can "point" or "force" devices to connect to this signal.  The downside to this, is that you also need manually "perpendicular to the" 2.4 GHz devices if they are located a few rooms away... Time Capsule because they may not be able to pick up even the 5 GHz signal to this place. "  Even if they can, the 2.4 GHz signal will be much stronger and probably faster than the 5 GHz network.

After the back if you need some tips on how to assign a different name for the 5 GHz network.
