IF you can see the file in the Finder, I would download a freeware called lock-UnMatic.  http://AlternativeTo.NET/software/lock-unmatic/?platform=Mac is the Mac version of look-a-like of FileAssassin, produced an excellent PC.  Linking the TC for your MacBook, at least temporarily, using Ethernet instead of wireless can be a good thing to do.

  Do you mean a Time Capsule? AirPort Extreme is not a hard drive.

  And that's probably the problem, because Apple does not officially support backups Time Machine to TB unless you use the wireless TC, or connect the Mac directly on the TC using a wired Ethernet cable connection.

  Things can work with your existing wireless network, but it will be no help if it is not. Sometimes in situations like this, a Mac will back up OK wireless, and another Mac will have problems.

In this case, the recommended solution would be to delete older backups of the MBA and then start again and try a new backup.

  afternoon, this seems to be a common problem - I came here looking for an answer as well. There is a smc / ram p reset fix floating MacOS Sierra - time machinestuck preparation backup on network devices. There is also an exclusion to spotlight some suggest work. I have tried both and neither worked for me, a lot more. I ended up clear time capsule. Airport utility > change > disks > erase disk. has immediately started a new backup and have not had a problem since.

  Unfortunately, your new Time Capsule is not an iTunes server. This is, in itself, it can not stream audio files stored on the internal hard drive to an AirPort Express or Apple TV point.   Whenever you change the modem or modem/router to which the airport links... or... change your Internet connection process, the airport must be reset to the default settings and then set it up again to work with the new device.

  Your message did not mention if you did that, but if not... to perform a Hard Reset on the router of the airport would be the first thing to do, to follow in setting up the airport once again, just as you would if the airport was new and connection to your modem/router for the first time.
