Time to make VMWare Fusion 4 Lion OSx and Windows XP Pro

Hey guys,.

I'm having a problem with the time my virtual machine with Windows XP Pro is. Never tipped time to summer time. I can go back in time and choose Synchronize with internet time and it is always wrong. I can uncheck the sync and just change the time before 1 but less than 30 minutes, the clock turn slowly... very weird, I'm not talking only 1 or 2 minutes, it was more like 9 minutes slow after a half hour.

Does anyone know how to fix this? Is this because Windows XP was disclosed before the change of daylight 3 weeks earlier in 2007? Does anyone else have this problem? I scoured the internet and cannot find what.

Thank you
Bill

You have installed all the updates for Windows XP?  Specifically, this a http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=23731 that deals with this DST change?

  • Known issues with VMWare Fusion 2.0.2 and FTP/SSL?

    Hello

I have a virtual machine in VMWare Fusion 2.0.2 running Windows XP with SP3. I have the Windows Firewall and AVG Free running.

I use FileZilla as my FTP client. I am able to connect to a server using the vanilla FTP protocol. No problems.

However, when I try to use FTP/SSL to connect to a server, I get time-out errors as it gets stuck on "initializing TLS... ».

I tried to disable the Firewall and AVG. Nothing helps.

I tried other FTP clients (CuteFTP, for example). Same result.

And, I am able to connect through FTP/SSL and FileZilla to my host (Mac OS 10.5.6) operating system and another computer in my house running Windows 7.

So I narrowed down it to something in this specific virtual Windows machine installation, but I don't know what else to try.

    Any suggestions?

    Thank you.

How is the Machine to stop virtual network set up, NAT or bridged?  If NAT have you tried to use bridged?  Note: If you change from NAT to Bridged while the Virtual Machine is running, the IP address must be released or renewed.  If you are unsure how to do this then just restart the Virtual Machine.

I recently installed VMware Fusion 6 Professional edition on my Macbook Pro running 10.9 Maverick.  Then, I installed Windows XP and then immediately upgraded to Windows 8.0.  When I tried to access the Internet using Windows 8, I can't.  I received the message "no connection is available.  How do I fix this?  I have no problems when you access the internet from the host operating system.  I have found several articles in the Knowledge Base for the different configurations and tried a few steps, but still no resolution.

    1. Restarted Windows 8 and restarted Maverick
    2. Diagnostics ran Windows 8, which gave rise to: "Windows did not detect a network card is installed correctly.  If you have a network card, you will need to re - install the driver. »

I would never do an in place upgrade of Windows XP to Windows 8 on a Virtual Machine!  Instead I create a Virtual Machine from Windows 8 and install directly Windows 8 by using the upgrade of media!   Take a look at: Clean install Windows 8 with upgrade media

If you don't want to do just like first of all, I suggest and want to fix the Windows XP upgraded the Virtual Machine, do the following in the parameters of the Virtual Machine.

Under system settings > General, change NAME and OS Windows 8.

Under removable devices > NIC > advanced options, click on remove the network card.

Click the device to add... and select the network card, and then click Add.

This should fix the gaps between the default Windows XP network card settings and the settings of the network adapter in Windows 8.

  • VMWare Fusion 6.0.2: Mavericks - Windows 7 Clipboard sharing does not work

I'm running a MBP, OS X 10.9.2 (Mavericks), VMWare Fusion 6.0.2 with a Windows 7 VM. The elements copied to the Clipboard in one are not properly shared with the other. I went in every parameter I know to try to solve this problem, no dice.

    All known solutions?

    Brad

    Hi Brad,

    1. click on the menu Virtual Machine-> settings, then click on the button of isolation in the Panel settings, Pls, make sure that the two check box (enable D & D, caillet &) and checked.

    2. If the boxes are check, have you already tried to install VMware tools by clicking on the Virtual Machines menu-> reinstall VMware Tools? Can drag you a file from the Mavericks to the Windows 7 VM? No sharing of Clipboard does not work when Windows 7 has just started and no other application does?

  • Successful upgrade to VMware Fusion, but no printer in Windows 7

No problems with the upgrade, however no printer not appearing in Windows 7.  I turned them on in VMware Fusion.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you!

I also stumbled upon this problem on two VMS, but subsequently solved.  The VMWare Tools installer is not install ThinPrint software in Windows.  What to do is to run the VMWare Tools installer again and choose the "Edit" option when you are asked if you want to change, or repair the installation.  You will then be presented to a tree of elements that can be installed or removed.  Select the one with the '+' next to him and you will see the ThinPrint option with a '1' yellow next to her.  Just click the icon and choose install and all the necessary parts (to paraphrase here).  Continue with the installation and restart your virtual machine.  After that, all printers must be there, as expected.  This is the procedure which worked for me on both x 64 Win 7 installs.  I hope this helps everyone.

  • Make an ISO of a system running (Windows XP Pro SP3)

I have a few HW record that has ONLY the drivers to run on XP - I DO have a Windows XP machine!

I just upgraded to a machine more powerful and you have installed

    Windows XP Pro SP1, then

    Updated til SP3, then

    upgrade to SP3

and then I installed all my SW - Total use on the 11 GB disc - and the machine is runing like a dream!

It's a job to do all this, so I was wondering if I cam make an ISO of the entire installation file - because it's 11 GB there must be on severel DVD?

If not the whole installation, then only the OS would be very nice to make an ISO of only one file.

If yes how can I do that?

Yes, use a disk imaging software to create an image of the entire hard drive.  In fact, if you have an external hard drive - reasonable size, you can (and should) make periodic images of the disk as backups.

A diagram would be to do an image immediately after the system has been setup as you wish.  Then make a series of periodic backup images, with the frequency of backup images depending on how often you make major changes and the number of backup images (before throwing 'old') depending on the size of your external hard drive.

Here are a few representative programs.  Most created images or clones, but some may be cloning applications only.  Some are free, others are not.  Vs clone image

If you have a Western Digital hard drive, you can get a version of Acronis True Image free of WD (http://support.wdc.com/product/downloaddetail.asp?swid=119) or you can get the software of cloning separately (this is not an exhaustive list and in no particular order, some are free, some not):

    Acronis True Image Home
    EASEUS ToDo Backup
Paragon Drive Copy or Partition Manager Personal
    Casper
    XXClone

    Macrium Reflect free

  • What is the best antivirus when running both OSX and Windows 10?

I have a new Macbook Pro running OSX El Capitan and 10 Windows via Parallels Desktop. I installed AVG Free on the Mac and Win 10 sides, however, it seems to be really stuck on side Windows - that is, he is always "up to date" and driving me crazy. Questions - a) do I need to run an antivirus software on both platforms? And someone has recommendations on programs that are better use? I have an active subscription to McAfee for Windows, I think I could install instead.

    Thanks for any input.

McAfee, Norton, AVG, etc... They are OK. Usually, you get FREE antivirus software with your internet subscriber.

Comcast gives you FREE Norton. Check with your site to internet subscribers to the FREE anti-virus software.

  • VMware Workstation 10.0.1 and Windows 7 VM crash on CentOS 6.5 host

Just upgraded to 6.5 CentOS 64-bit (2.6.32 - 431.el6.x86_64). After the updates and reboot I launched VMware Workstation 10.0.1 as I normally and began my OpenVPN (Wheezy Debian) VM with all the problems. I then started my Windows 7 64-bit VM and the entire army what OS hangs and I have to reboot using the reset button.

I was able to reproduce twice in a row. The Windows 7 VM seems to start fine and then when I type my credentials in and it starts to load the office which is when everything goes south and the host completely freezes.

The Windows 7 VM has nothing too complicated installed in it. Some Epson software to start uTorrent and printer in network at startup. Steam does as well, but it is not auto-login or do anything really.

I just did some testing of synthetic load and covered all 8 cores (much more than the usual load) up to 24 GB, 32 GB of RAM and 50% of CPU on the host computer and things remained stable. I thought that a second question could be RAM related because after a soft on boot the Windows 7 VM running I am to about 7 GB of RAM used on the host computer and from the WIndows 7 VM would put me over 8 GB, which resembled a number of nice where things might go wrong If it is RAM related.

  • I am running Windows 7 Pro with Fusion 5, Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro, 10.8.3, 8GB, Excel 2013 crashes

I installed recently Fusion 5.0.3 and Windows 7 Pro on my MacBookPro 2009 so I could run Quickbooks 2013 and Excel 2013.  I knew that I was probably pushing the processor, so I always have to close all Mac applications before running VMware.  QuickBooks 2013 works beautifully, and I can see vmware-vmx in activity monitor using about 50% of the CPU.  The trouble begins when I open Excel 2013.  VMware-vmx charges to 140% of the CPU, and Excel stops responding.  I updated the VM Ram 2 GB (as recommended) and core processor 1.  Any ideas will be greatly appreciated!

  • Running VMWare Fusion 5.0.1 Thunderbolt Drive

    Hi all

I am currently evaluating VMWare Fusion 5.0.1 and I my VM in my love at first sight drive (Seagate Goflex Portable).

    The guest is Windows 7 x 64

    -Allocated memory: 8 GB

    -Processor allowed: 4 cores

The host is MAC OSX 10.7.5

-Processor: Intel Core i7 2.2 GHz

    -Total memory: 16GB

I use the backup process within this comments and after a few hours of operation, VMWare Fusion does still not and crash and there is nothing I can do.

I tried logout / stop / restart my mac through normal way (click on the Apple icon and select the menu) without success. and the only way to restart my mac is press the power for a few seconds (hard reset)

If I move/copy VM file in my internal drive, this problem does not occur

All the world experience similar question, run the virtual machine of the Thunderbolt drive?

Also, if you need log file, please let me know that you need and I will he pass here

PPS: I am to evaluate the software, I can not lift with VMWare support ticket

Cool, let me know how it goes.

I have too was doing some research on the same yesterday. I was focused on the memory management on the side of mac, rather than with the parameters of fusion.

There is this command "purge" which converts all inactive memory in memory without having to restart the mac. More free memory means any chance of merger to the detriment of.

Depending on the setting of fusion you found, I knew that the neutralization of him would make a difference. Because by default an automatic unbufferred mode for vista and later guest operating system which is what is needed for the best peformance.  That's why I was excluded from that.

  • Put MacBook to sleep when you run Windows XP on vmware Fusion / screen when opened black top (waking from sleep)

REF.: macbook 2.4 ghz, 4 GB of ram, osx 10.5.8, vmware fusion 2.0.5 running Windows XP sp3 with 2 GB of Ram assigned

Could you get it someone please let me know what is the reason that every time vmware runs, and I close the lid of my laptop, each time I open the cover to get back to work, I get only a black screen.

Should I be hitting the button suspend running vmware OS, before you close the lid of my computer and he get to sleep?

Thank you for any advise you can provide.

    Kind regards

    Hello

You can just put some time you're comfortable in these areas. It should not matter.

I think it is it is happening is that your guest is going to suspend - not the vmware suspend, but WinXP suspend mode - and that's for a reason any does not cover.

If my suggestions do not help, you can also try to re - install VMware tools, but take a snapshot before that, just in case

  • VMware Fusion keeps resetting my network file

I'm trying to set up a Windows Server VM and allow access to external computers through RDP/DRC. To enable port forwarding, I added the following text to the end of my "/ Library/Preferences/VMWare Fusion/network" file (addresses changed because I'm paranoid that way):

    [incomingtcp]

    # Port forwarding for incoming RDP requests

    3389 = 172.16.252.10:3389

    [incomingudp]

    # Port forwarding for incoming RDP requests

    3389 = 172.16.252.10:3389

The problem is that every time I restart VMWare Fusion, my network file returns to its previous state, and my updated the file is stored in networking.bak.0.

    Am I missing something here?

If it helps: I'm under VMWaare Fusion 7.1.2. Network of my VM is set to NAT (alias "share with my MAC"). My virtual computer is configured with a static IP, the same, I added in the network file. I tested DRC between host and the VM and it works fine, I just need to enable access by other computers on the same network.

Thanks in advance to anyone reading and/or responding to this.

I know it's lame to answer my own question, but I just realized what was wrong. Apparently, I got some wrong information about the Internet, and I should have added the text in the file nat.conf instead of the network file.

  • VMware Fusion 6: snapshot auto return when vm stop

In VMware Fusion, how a user to automate making a vm to return a snapshot after the virtual machine has been turned off?

I know that I can press control + R and then tell it back to the snapshot, but I would like to make the virtual machine always come back to the

latest snapshot on shutdown.  Is there a section in the vmx file that takes care of this?  should I be scripting things to start and stop, then come back

    through vmrun/vix?

I believe that the version of windows (http://www.vmware.com/support/ws4/doc/preserve_snapshot_ws.html) Workstation joined, I was wondering how to recreate the features under fusion 6.

    Thanks in advance!

While VMware Workstation has the parameters in the UI settings of Virtual Machine, VMware Fusion does not work and I was very disappointed that he was not a part of the new major version!

You must manually edit the .vmx configuration file by adding the following option:

    scsi#:#.mode = "independent-nonpersistent"

    Or

    ide#:#.mode = "independent-nonpersistent"

Where ' # ' is the corresponding figures for the target disk.

Take a look at: changing the file .vmx for your VM of Fusion (1014782)

  • VMware Fusion 5 with Windows 8 and VPN

Hi, I'm new to VMware. I am connected to my company via wifi VPN. I configured the VMware to connect through NAT. VPN seems to work fine on OSX, but in windows (VM) it says "no internet access. Internet works fine when I'm not on the VPN, but as soon as I connect to the VPN connection is lost. I tried to reload the OSX and Windows number of times. I tried ipconfig/release, ipconfig / renew on windows as suggested by other posts.

Please let me know if you have any ideas to get this to work.

In addition, the VPN was working fine until recently on another Terminal Wifi. I'm traveling now and I am facing this problem with wifi again. Not sure if there is wifi problem. Although I doubt that because the internet seems to work fine without a VPN and VPN seems to work fine under OSX. It's just VPN on VM that has a problem.

I agree to what Akotsur said. Probably, you might consider configuring VPN Windows separately keeping in bridged mode.

  • MacBook Pro + Thunderbolt display vs VMWare Fusion

    Configuration:

    -New MacBook Pro

    -New Thunderbolt display

-Keyboard and mouse plugged into the USB ports on Thunderbolt display

-VMWare Fusion 4.0.2 running a Ubuntu 10.04 VM

If I turned the laptop without the screen plugged and then plug into the screen, the keyboard and the mouse (connected on the screen) do not respond. I need to unplug the display and plug it in again, and then, usually, the devices will work. I'm going back with Apple support, and he got up to what they wanted me to ship everything back - they have not seen this before.

I then had a hunch that merger (which is still running) may cause a problem. Of course - if I stop or suspend my VM before connecting the screen, everything works fine. So I strongly suspect a bug in Fusion.

    Anyone else seeing this?

    Jack Orenstein

VMware Fusion 4.1 addresses a compatibility issue with the USB devices connected via a Thunderbolt display. You will be prompted to auto-update the next time you restart VMware Fusion (or manually check the updates).
