Tip: Archives iPhone backup in Windows

iTunes manages normally a rollover backup for each device unless you restore a backup in which case it is archived with the date of restoration and a new backup created rolling. On a Mac, you can get iTunes to duplicate a backup set, but this feature is not copied into iTunes for Windows. With iTunes closed, you can select and copy and paste an existing backup folder in C:\Users\ < user > \AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup, and then give a folder name that ends by - yyyymmdd-hhmmss. When you restart iTunes extra backup set will be listed under Edit > Preferences > devices even though it will be the same as the original he was cloned from. Once you refresh the active backup, it should be possible to tell who is who, since timestamps.

Very smart, thank you. I have bookmarked this post. I didn't know how to archive backups in iTunes for Windows that you are using an external drive. I checked my MBP (10.11.5) and of course, there is a drop-down list in iTunes > > > devices that allows archiving. No option on my iTunes W10 (12.4.1). Is Apple iTunes "infantilization down" for Windows?

Can you tell me how you renamed the folder cloned game? Under backup, I have two folders, one for my iPhone and one for my iPad. Should I letting them copy except as existing names by adding the time stamp at the end of the alphanumeric string long? Like 6d473d7c6... 20160709? Is that what you mean?

Probably you already know, but Windows 10 you can go directly in the folder (normally hidden) homelessness by typing %APPDATA%\microsoft\windows\sendto in Cortana. In Windows 7 I had to change the "View" to view system files / hidden.

C: drive is full.  You want to save the backup to another drive.  Is it necessary to save it in the same folder that iTunes is installed on?

    Hello Nicolas MK.
Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.

Or you can use the following steps:

  • Archive a backup iOS with iTunes on a PC

I want to check my back upwards into iTunes so that I can try the beta of iOS 10. When I go into Preferences > devices > backup device I can point to back up that I want to archive, but when I use CTRL + 'click' I do not get the submenu to archive. I know that's the way I've archived on my mac mini, but since changing to a PC using Windows 10 I can't seem to find a way to archive. Is there another way or something because I don't want the beta iOS without it.

    Hi Philogic,

I understand that you want to archive your backup iOS, but you don't see the context menu for it. I know it's important to be able to have a copy of security of your backups, so I'm happy to provide some clarification for this.

You're definitely on the right track with your steps so far. Since you are using Windows, however, instead of ctrl + click, you just right click of the backup. You will find the following menu is what you are used to.

Hello. (its my first time here)

My windows 10 was then I copied all my data off the coast and decided to do a reset. It was only after I realized that my iphone backup was on it. Now would not be a problem on a normal day like what I have to do is just to backup my iphone again and have a backup on my computer. Now here's the twist, I sold my iphone last week and expect to buy one this week, so I did not have a working version as well. In any case, I immediately made a recovery of data on my hard drive using recuva and now I have different files from my hard drive that have all looks Greek to me. Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.

I understand that you have used a data recovery program to restore the data, and now you want to recover your iPhone back ups.  I suggest that you put the backups of your recovered data in the location of the file below, which should appear as an option to restore from iTunes.

For quick access to the Application Data folder:

    1. Locate the search bar.
Windows Vista or Windows 7: click Start.
Windows 8: click the magnifying glass in the upper right.
Windows 10: Click the search bar, next to the Start button.

  • I have questions about the backup of Windows 8.

Original title: backup of Windows 8

Hello, I have two questions regarding windows 8 backup (office). I just bought a new laptop hard drive WD to use for the backup of my computer. Until I plug it to my computer, are there recommendations on what to do for any software that could be on this drive. In previous portable drives that I used, when I plug in they usually form any software that is used for the default backup. According to me, a mark was memeo. I would avoid any conflict with the windows backup software that is part of windows-8, so I ask for advice before I plug this new drive.

The second issue is that I probably backup my computer so that I can do a clean install of my OS of windows 8. What is the best way to prepare my hard drives so that I get the best possible instillation? The instillation of my previous is considered to be defective and I don't want to wear one of these errors in the new instillation. It would be appreciated also all the tips on how to deal with the backup for this project and transfer my files on the computer. Uses the best utility to backup windows to do this, or is there another type of software I should use? Thank you.

    Salvation of the brain,

    Thank you for the update.

  • cannt connect my hotspot SE iphone to my windows laptop 10

cannt connect my hotspot SE iphone to my windows laptop 10
can laptop can find hotspot sharing but when I type to connect, my iphone screen goes blue and white and after 2seconds he diconnects.
    Help me please
    TNX

    1. try to change the name of your phone so that your laptop creates a different profile for it. For the most part occurs when you change your hotspot password and it is not updated on your laptop.

If your familiar with the settings in windows 10. You can go into the wifi settings and remove the profile created for your hotspot and then reconnect and re - enter the password.

    1. Click on the network icon in the lower right of your screen.
    2. Click on network settings.
    3. Click settings to manage a Wi - Fi connection.
    4. Under management of known networks, click the network that you want to remove.
    5. Don't forget click. Wireless network profile is deleted.

    It will be useful.

  • iCloud iPhone backup

    Hello

I use an iPhone 6s 128 GB gold. I recently saw my iPhone Backup is great 17 GB, and I started to ask me, whence these 17 GB come, given that iCloud is not backup Apps, Podcasts, music, and other media. The research that I did just confused me even more. ICloud data stores of the App does not add up to 17 GB (by far).

And what else confused me, was that there are apps, contain way more data, they seem to have on backup, for example my app dictionary dict.cc , which contains the value of 250 MB of data is only 15 MB back up.

The same problem with my Google Maps app, which stores a large map.

Can someone help me and clarify things? Thank you very much!

    Hi Laura,

Sorry to hear that you forgot your iPhone backup password. You can try all possible passwords.

See backups encrypted in iTunes - Apple Support about

There is no way to recover your information or disable backup encrypted if you lose or forget the password.

You cannot use a backup encrypted if you do not have the password. If you have forgotten your password, the only way to turn off encryption on the backup device is to wipe your device and set up as new. Clear deletes all data on your device.
