  On 30 March, I bought a new Toshiba laptop (P100-347) that was advertised as coming with a FREE update to Windows Vista. The guys at the shop told me that the only thing I have to do to get this update is contact Toshiba.

  That is not exactly true. You will have to pay a tax. The dealer of the laptop was wrong. Then why you n t blame the retailer of laptop for this erroneous info? !!! Moduslink society is responsible for the upgrade to Vista. They control upgrades for all manufacturers and computer companies.

  Seems you are a beginner and don t have a great experience with laptops. Laptop you supports an optical S/PDIF output audio line.
  It s a headphone. You can connect each HiFi to your laptop using the right cables!

  Don t compare desktop with laptop computers!

  On the Toshiba page you will find the link to the Toshiba authorized service providers in all countries. So if you have a problem ask the technicians ;) Like you probably n t know this is a user forum. There are simply users like me and you, and sharing of knowledge and try to solve the problems!

• Random BSOD and program crashes, getting tired of this.

  I've probably become crazy trying to solve this problem and as soon as I try to let Windows search for a solution to these problem it gives me this * damned * * * error telling me that the problem is not possible, ironically, and now I'm distraught about what I'm supposed to do. In recent days, my computer started sporadicaly bluescreen and games crashing became regular events at this stage, as well as my sound card to randomly crash, requiring a reboot.

  These accidents were caused by the corruption of memory (probably a driver).  Run these two tests to check your memory and find which driver is causing the problem.

  * Don't forget to download any other DMP files (especially those running auditor)

  * If you are overclocking reset all default before running these tests.
  In other words STOP!   If you don't know what it means that you're probably not

  1 - Memtest.
  * Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program. http://www.memtest.org
  * Boot from the CD and let it run at least 5 or 6 passes.
  * Don't forget, anytime Memtest reports errors, it can be bad RAM or a bad motherboard slot.
  * Test the sticks individually and if you find a good, test it in all slots.

  Any error is indicative of a memory problem.
  If a well-known stick fails in a slot of motherboard, it's probably the slot.

  Using Driver Verifier is a dubious proposition. Most of the time it will crash and it will tell you what is the driver.

  * But sometimes it will crash and will not tell you the driver.
  * At other times it will crash until you can connect to Windows. If you can't mode without failure, then you will have to resort to editing the registry offline to disable driver verifier.
  * I would suggest that you first back up your data and make sure that you have access to another computer so you can contact us in case of problems.
  * Then do a system restore point (so you can restore the system using the functionality of Vista/Win7 Startup Repair).

  * Under Windows 7, you can do a startup repair disk by clicking Start... All programs... Maintenance... Create a system - with Windows Vista repair disc, you need to use your drive installation or from the "Repair your computer" option at the top of the Safe Mode menu.
  
  Here is the procedure:
  -Go to start and type "auditor" (without the quotes) and press enter
  -Select 'Create a custom settings (for code developers)' and click 'Next '.
  -Select "Select individual settings from the list complete" and click "Next".
  -Select the entire document except for "Low resource Simulation" and click "next".
  -Select "Select driver names from a list", then click "next".
  * Select all drivers that are NOT supplied by Microsoft and click on "Next".
  -On the next page, select "Finish".
  * Restart the system and wait as he crashed to blue screen.
  * Continue to use your system normally and if you know what are the causes of the crash, do it several times. The objective here is to get the system crash because Driver Verifier is stressing out the drivers. If it is not planted for you, then let it run for at least 36 hours of continuous operation.

  
  * If you are unable to Windows because it crashes too early, try safe mode.

  It seems that if you are using full-screen - press F11 to cancel it.

  If that does not bring the toolbars, right-click at the top of the page and check/check Bookmarks Toolbar. You can also do the same for the Menu bar - or simply press Alt when you need to see.

  I can go in chrome without any problem and watch any video without any problem. the second I get into firefox, nothing does. I had this problem on and off for years. I really don't see why you can't solve the problem, if anyone can. I uninstalled and reinstalled firefox and flash player several times. nothing seems to work. I am really really tired of this same problem for years, I stay with firefox, because you are aware of privacy and are always more. I don't know what other details to tell keep you other than that just to be and it makes it very difficult to do anything on firefox, when I can't use something simple like the flash drive. as I said, if other browsers can remedy I see no reason why firefox can not year after year.   I opened my first hp envy 15-u111dx 360 x last week. After a day of use, I realized that the laptop is decently loud "ticking" noise. It does not sound entirely mechanical, more as a noise type modem cable except worse. It comes from the right side of the base of the laptop near where is the LED on the hard drive. I returned it today in Exchange for a laptop brand new of the same model. It makes the noise as well. I'm paranoid, either there is a problem with most laptops. No to geeksquad guys had never heard this noise before. It is NOT the fan. It is closer to the sound of a hard drive is no exception because it is not a pattern. It only happens during tasks and the heavier workload the stronger and more frequent noise becomes. So this led me and workers to buy better believe that's a bad treatment. This notebook is an i7 with 12 GB of ram so I am very appreciative of this incredible machine but this noise makes me a bit tired of this laptop. Is it a bad sound or each i7 makes noises? Hard disks make this noise? All comments are appreciated unless you say it could be the fan, because it is not. The fan is the other side of the laptop. Thank you.

  Thank you for your quick response!

  From what you have said on the Geek Squad, I don't think that it is a normal sound of the unit.  The only moving parts of your laptop that can be the cause of this noise, it's the hard drive, the fan and the heat sink.  Remove the cover to replace a hard drive or memory, with HP parts, should not void the warranty, as long as there is no damage seen the hardware or the lid.  You can also check to make sure that there are no loose screws.

  If the noise is abnormal, the best solution may be to return the device, or contact HP as previously posted.
