    Bruce,

Yes. Palm Desktop is the program you HotSync Palm PDA to.

You install from the CD that comes with a Palm PDA or download it online

I've never used a palmOne LifeDrive, I think it comes with PD version 4.1.4

If you decide to use the PD6.2 it is a free download

  • Problem with Lifedrive Manager on a Machine MS Vista

I used my Lifedrive for a long time since a MS Windows XP Home Office successfully.  This summer, I got a new laptop which has Windows Vista Home Premium.  I am able to use the Palm Desktop software and hotsync for the XP desktop and laptop of Vista.  I am, however, problems with Lifedrive Manager.  Whenever I start the laptop, I get a message that the machine could not initialize "PalmOneRemoteLibrary."  I ignored the message because I could do everything I needed up to today.  When I tried to start the LifeDrive Manager (impetus provided by a message that asked that I install my photos using LifeDrive Manager), I got the PalmOneRemoteLibrary error message.

I realize that this machine can be a relic, but I really like it, and I did a lot of use of it.  My LifeDrive machine runs Palm OS Garnet 5.4.8.  I recently put a mass of images on the internal drive using 'Training Mode'.

Am I correct the LifeDrive Manager is inevitably incompatible with Windows Vista, and which is the source of my problem?  Any difficulty that I could try?  Any other ideas?

Hello blue8star and welcome to the forums of Palm.

The LifeDrive Manager application, unfortunately, is not compatible with Windows Vista.  Palm said they aren't going to release a update for the abandoned PDA.  (By the way, I have a palmOne LifeDrive and always use it often.)

To load on the LifeDrive bulk data, you have the right idea, use the Drive Mode.

  • LIFEDRIVE & Vista

Is there anyway that I can get my Lifedrive to work with Vista 32 bit?

I was never able to make it work. When I install the software that came with my drive, it screws upward with my computer, so since the day I got it, I've been able to use it as a removable disk, or send/receive files via bluetooth.

I've looked everywhere & can't find the updates, new downloads, nothing that addresses this issue.

Us Palm, lifedrive homeowners completely alone? Or am I missing something?

    Thanks in advance!

All the way back on 20 January 2008, I've tested the LifeDrive with Windows Vista and Palm Desktop 6.2.2.  You can read my notes here.  The only thing I would add now, some two and a half years later is that PalmHotSyncSetup of Pimlico (free) lets devices to HotSync Palm OS running Palm OS version 5.2.1 and who do not have the PIMS Palm reinforced installed.

  • Start of LifeDrive screen only (start problem)

    Hello

I'm Bashir Ahmad, who Plamone LifeDrive. Today, when the LifeDrive is fully charged and wanted to turn it on. After pressing the power button, it only shows the start screen. It seems that it is not booting (windows terminology). And crashes at startup displays "PLAMONE".

    What I did:

    (1) the reset button is pressed again the same problem.

    (2) connected with PC running Windows XP Professional, the first screen of the computer finds a ball near the clock indicating the new device, but after awhile, he says "unrecognized USB device".

    (3) when it is connected automatically to the adopter AC only shows the splash screen and not pass to load the operating system.

Please tell me how can solve this problem starting?

    Thank you.

    Bashir Ahmad

Hello Bachir and welcome on Palm forums.

You might be stuck in a loop of reset which sometimes happens when a file system is wrong and corrupts.  If the Palm logo appears then device restarts and then is displayed again, what reset loop behaves like.  If this is happening, a hard reset may solve your problem.  A hard reset will clear all in the main memory of the LD and the LifeDrive partition and reset the device to default factory settings.  To restore the PIM data you need to HotSync the device.  The content of the partition of LifeDrive should be reloaded manually from your computers.

If you do not hear the micro hard drive turns, it is possible that the 4 GB hard drive has failed.  (I saw a few customers that their readers have failed over the last two weeks of the declaration).

If you think that the case, pourrais I suggest you contact UsdedPDAParts.com.  They can repair your LifeDrive for you.  You can get more details on the hard disk, herereplacement options.

  • LifeDrive

According to your instructions for the error (error Sys0505) (0.841), I deleted the following files of my LifeDrive: MY PALM ACCOUNT; MY HEEL PALM BEAM; MY TREO ACCOUNT; AND MY TREO SYNC. However, when I sync with the "office crush unit", these files reappear. When I sync once more with the "device replaces the office", I can not sync at all. By the way, this am I ordered a Palm Treo 800W from Sprint and I'm worried that I might have the same questions cela this new device.

The best way is to delete these files again and go to start my computer C:------drive - program files and look for Palm or PalmSource. Then look for the name of your profile and rename the backup folder Backup.Old

When you hotsync, none of the items in the backup folder will be synchronized to your handheld.

  • Multiple Lifedrives

Multiple Lifedrives with different users may be hot-synced on the same computer?  I work on an art project using several Lifedrives and would like to know if I can synchronize their on the same computer.

Of course, you can!  As long as each of them has an individual account of Hotsync name, no problem.

I've had 12 different devices Palm sync on my PC at the same time...

  • Application of LifeDrive files causes the reset

Have a problem to launch 'files '. When I try to access the files, the LifeDrive resets. Says system error log "caused a reset on... when executing"Files": FileRegistry.c, Line:843, the great missing icons" I can fix this problem by doing a hard reset, but when I HotSync, problem reports. Any suggestions?

SD Card - No SD Card
Soft Reset - A soft reset does not change the situation. When I try to access the 'files', the LifeDrive resets and gives the error message.
Data stored on LifeDrive partition-Yes, I have a few pictures. I can open them in the media application. Can I use the menus "pictures and videos" and "All photos" to view media, however, when I choose 'Browse', the LifeDrive did a reset and gives the same error message.
Hard Reset - after a hard reset, I can use "files." That's before doing a HotSync. After that I do a HotSync, the problem reappears.

OK, if so, if everything works after a hard reset and before performing the first HotSync to reload your data, then one of the files on your Palm application is damaged.

To resolve this problem, you should HotSync your Palm to ensure the latest data on your computer.  Then find the Palm application folder, usually c:\program files\palm and find your HotSync profile folder, which is based on your hotsyncid (may not be an exact match to the name).  In your HotSync profile folder, there will be a folder called backup.  Rename it to Backup.Old.

Then reset your Palm again and this time, when you do your first HotSync, your PIM data will be reloaded, but all applications that are not part of the image of the basic software will be left behind.  Oh, and the backup folder will be recreated so that you won't have to go back and rename the folder Backup.Old.

  • No hotsync

I still use my old Tungsten E2. I had installed version 3.1 Manager on my old machine (I still have the disc). I installed it on my new machine... does not work

I downloaded 6.2 - seemed to install ok, but he doesn't have a hotsync. Deleted and installed 4.1. Installed quickly and cleanly, but won't always sync. I get all the standard s 'bong', but the Unit indicates a connection could not be established.

I'm on Windows 7 Edition home premium. My username seems to fit properly. (I get a device driver not found message when I plug in the Palm, but I tell myself it's because Windows always thinks everything is plug and play).

I'm something basic missing just? Why it is not syncing?

    Thank you.

    No, thank you.

I had trouble loading device manager, as Windows 7 dialogues for Device Manager are not as described... but the help file in the zip driver allowed to get by.

I also had to keep hit the HotSync button on my device so that Windows detects long enough for me to load the driver.

However, I have them loaded and synchronized to the device, so...

  • Failure to connect the HotSync Palm TX 4.2 and Office XP Pro

I have a Palm TX with v. 4.2 OS and HotSync residing in a XP Pro PC.

When you perform the HotSync operation, controlled by the cable button, either very often fails because unable to connect to the PC or the device is not recognized.

After several attempts, HotSync works fine, using the same USB port.

This problem isn't to blame on the desktop environment or is there something that can be fixed on the Palm software?

The TX comes with Palm OS 5.4.9 installed - 4.2 is very probably the version of Palm Desktop, you are running.

The problem could be easily the cable itself, or dirty contacts on the bottom of the unit.  Check the HotSync port gold on the TX sign of dirt, oil or corrosion.  Cleaning of this area with Contact Cleaner (available at electronics stores) or isopropyl alcohol and a cotton swab can solve the problem.

If you have another available HotSync cable that you can borrow, I would suggest that-a break in one of the tiny wires inside could produce the symptoms you describe.

  • Office No. hotsyncs; install desktop-not hotsync

TungstenE2 with Vista; has been able to hotsync (Pocket largely successful). But no office arrives with the data. Only your desktop with photos (Palm by Access). Instructions that came with your handheld (to replace an older) says to install desktop 6.2, I did. The desktop appears fine on my Toshiba laptop (2005 version), but I tried everything to get a hotsync to work. The message is that no connection is possible and control Setup. Help, please!

Try right click on the shortcut for Palm Desktop, then "run as Administrator".

Also make sure what UAC (User Account Control) is disabled.  Control Panel/users/disable UAC.

  • Tungsten E don't hotsync on Windows 7

I run my Palm Tungsten E (bought in 2005) using the HotSync Manager 4 without problem.

I just got a new HP laptop and tried to install the HotSync Manager, the drive did not have software to do the installation.

I downloaded HotSync Manager 7.0.2 to try to resolve the problem. The result is the same - HotSync does not work and NO error no message to tell me what may be the problem!

Did anyone had success turning a successful HotSync the Tungsten E Windows.

I also have an old Tungsten E and now a new laptop with Windows 7 64 bit. I finally understood how to synchronize so here's my story.
Already said that it works by infrared, so I bought an infrared adapter USB 7780 MOSCHIP (www.conrad.nl) and downloaded driver win7-64 www.moschip.com and installed the infrared adapter.
I downloaded Palmdesktop 6.22 including hotsync 7.02. I also had to download and install additional conduct for Outlook2007 which I am running.
Next: setting up hotsync to my Tungsten E account. First make a user account. It's a little tricky because this isn't the username under network parameter, but the name that appears in the upper right of the screen if you synchronize. I also had to cancel my password I got into serious trouble syncing asked a password, although I never had a password configuration in my Tungesten E. go to prefs - security - and cancel your password.
Then in the hotsync Manager filling out what Sync (contacts, calendar, Outlook etc.). And then connection sto Infarred and network!
Then set up the connection, placing my infrared USB adaptor near the mt Tungesten E IR. Then go to prefs, connection and I thought choose IR for PC/handheld, but the later which proved to be wrong, so I created my own custom "IR Paul" connection and the connection to the PC and via an infrared connection.
Next to the prefs - network - service Untitled, username in my case "psalverd", "password" and connection to the IR Paul. Fact
The Star then tab on the PDA but cancel immediatelt as Tungesten E then well that you put in place to connect with IR tries to connect to usnig a home/cable station. Yo see the Hotsync on your PDA saying menu "hotsync last date-time" with Paul IR. Its the Hotsync icon in the middle of the screen and hotsync tab will now run. On your PC, a window opens showing the progression of your timing, will soon launch a password (no) and then starts the synchronization really.

Hope my story will help someone else. As I'm not a very literate PC users that perhaps not all correct, but it worked for me.

  • Successful HotSync but no information from Palm Desktop.

Wireless Hotsync "completed", but there is no information in my Palm Desktop, no contact, no notes, no tasks, etc., although this information is in the Palm Pilot. I have Windows 7, 64 bit computer laptop.  HotSync wireless worked well in the past.  Just started this problem a couple of days.  HotSync Manager version 7.0.2.  Palm Desktop version 6.2.2.  I have a backup file on my laptop but don't know how to restore the desktop.  Any suggestions?  Thanks, PNeely

I suggest you download an extractor free files like 7-zip or WinZip.

Maybe after installation, any registry that are problems will be straightened.

  • Palm Tungsten E2 hotsync with windows 8

I have a palm Tungsten E2 I can't warm to sync using Windows 8. I have it installed, which, according to me, is the latest driver for Palm and the installed program, but it is still impossible hot sync. There is no Bluetooth capabilities either.

    HPEnvyRed wrote:

Thank you for your help.  I just downloaded the driver.  What should I do to install?

Yes my E2 HotSynced fine on my old computer, no problem.

The error message, it's that there is no link.

I went to ensure that the program was looking for synchronization via USB because it's what I use, so this isn't the issue.

Please see this post at the beginning of this section regarding the Aceeca of Win8 driver installation.

Before I installed Desktop I downloaded Aceeca 64-bit driver following the Instructions of WyreNut

It is scary to Hotsync if you have no backup. When I do the first Hotsync after a desktop organizer installation will overwrite the Office

I've never used a backup card. You might want to try if you have no backup
