To access the logs CHKDSK on Windows 7

It is not so much a question as it is my attempt to share information.  http://www.TomsHardware.com/Forum/2172-63-Win7-chkdsk-file-location shows how to access newspapers CHKDSK files, but it's buried down in the answers.  So here's a summary, for my own comfort as well as for others.

  • Click Start
  • Type "Event Viewer" without the quotes and launch event viewer.
  • In the navigation pane on the left, under the Windows logs folder, select Application
  • In the right pane of the Actions, launch «filter it the current journal...» »
  • Under event source, choose Emmanuelle (for me, that newspapers do not have appear as Winlogon, as suggests some assignments to the thread above)
  • Click OK
  • On the filtered list, go to entries at the time of the CHKDSK command and search through them the CHKDSK log
  • In order to look through all of them, you must double-click each entry to open details

The information you get throgh an observer of events are often not very useful.

If you want just a report of chkdsk on your C partition select Start, run, type "cmd" without the quotes in the box and press ENTER. Type chkdsk, and then press the ENTER key and a report, stating, among other things, a summary of how disk space is used, is provided. If you want a report on a partition or one drive other than C, you need to go to this partition. To access F, where F is the required partition you type F: and press the ENTER key.

Copies of the reports from a command prompt can be tricky. Right click and select mark. This allows to highlight the selected text, and then click on copy. You will then open Word, Notepad or similar file, right click and paste. The selected text transfers your Clipboard to open the file. You can paste directly into a response message to the majority of the forums.

In Windows 7, you can use a command-line high;

Vista and Windows 7 updated drivers love then here's how update the most important.

This is my generic how updates of appropriate driver:

This utility, it is easy see which versions are loaded:

-Free - DriverView utility displays the list of all device drivers currently loaded on your system.
For each driver in the list, additional useful information is displayed: load address of the driver,
Description, version, product name, company that created the driver and more.
    http://www.NirSoft.NET/utils/DriverView.html

For drivers, visit manufacturer of emergency system and of the manufacturer of the device that are the most common.
Control Panel - device - Graphics Manager - note the brand and complete model
your video card - double - tab of the driver - write version information. Now, click on update
Driver (this can do nothing as MS is far behind the certification of drivers) - then right-click.
Uninstall - REBOOT it will refresh the driver stack.

Repeat this for network - card (NIC), Wifi network, sound, mouse, and keyboard if 3rd party
with their own software and drivers and all other main drivers that you have.

Now in the system manufacturer (Dell, HP, Toshiba as examples) site (in a restaurant), peripheral
Site of the manufacturer (Realtek, Intel, Nvidia, ATI, for example) and get their latest versions. (Look for
BIOS, Chipset and software updates on the site of the manufacturer of the system here.)

Download - SAVE - go to where you put them - right click - RUN AD ADMIN - REBOOT after
    each installation.

Always check in the Device Manager - drivers tab to be sure the version you actually install
presents itself. This is because some restore drivers before the most recent is installed (sound card drivers
in particular that) so to install a driver - reboot - check that it is installed and repeat as
    necessary.

Repeat to the manufacturers - BTW in the DO NOT RUN THEIR SCANNER device - check
    manually by model.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.

If you update the drivers manually, then it's a good idea to disable the facilities of driver under Windows
Updates, that leaves about Windows updates but it will not install the drivers that will be generally
older and cause problems. If updates offers a new driver and then HIDE it (right click on it), then
get new manually if you wish.

  • To access the log file entries in Oracle 10 g with respect

    Hi all
How can I access log files entries in oracle 10 g (linux) by questioning... and where it is stored to the origin
    Thank you...

    user8843114 wrote:
In fact, I do not know the difference between the log files and Audit information... are they equal?
I know how to obtain audit information... that is to say using a table sys.aud$... is it possible to access the log files if the two above are not equal

    It really depends.

"Log file" is a generic term. Most of the time it refers to record information in a flat file outside the database. And there are many types of log files. An Oracle database's redo log files and archived log files. An application will have its own log usually on a middle-tier server. An Oracle database can be configured to generate an audit trail in an external file or in a database table (SYS. AUD$). And there are dozens of other ways that people could use the term "log file."

Depending on how you use the term, it may or may not be possible to access the information in the log file of the database. You will need to know what log file you were interested and where this log file. If the log file is accessible to the database, it would probably be possible to use external tables or same UTL_FILE to access information, depending on the format of the log file.

  • Unable to display the log file in windows 7

    Hi all

for all of you who are familiar with the text game, I use customer gMUD a certain game. gMUD is able to record activity as a document that is readable by microsoft Notepad.
so, one evening I played and connected my activity where the customer is located, for example c:\program files (x 86) \gmud
After the recording session, when I went in this directory, the journal was gone! in fact, there were 2 newspapers, lets call them document1.log and document2.log
    I did some troubleshooting for:
    1. When you are prompted for a location to save a log, when I choose my office, the journal appears and I can read it just fine using Notepad. This means that there is nothing wrong with the ability of the client to write and record newspapers.
    2. When you are prompted for a location to save a log, when I choose the directory where is located, my client of mud and give a name, say document3, I see that document1 and document2 are there. I can now logging document3. but as for the previous 2 logs, when I open the directory in windows Explorer, it is simply not there. This means that the issue is consistent and I can reproduce it. and also that the logs are there, but I can't visually see it.
3 tried setting the options files of the control panel to show all hidden files, but the documents don't show still in windows Explorer.
4 tried to open the document via prompt back but the documents cannot be found.
    5. I tried running Notepad and navigate this particular directory but there is no .log files or .txt files.
    some other info:
    running windows 7
    used AVG at the time
my last hint is that the writing of the flies in a "program files" folder is somewhat limited (not hidden) and there should be a way to document1, document2, document3 access. can someone please show me how?

  • HP laptop - 14-ac003ne: brand laptop nine a of the log files and windows event, dated more than a year ago

    Hi all

I am writing this post with a heavy heart. I did research to buy a laptop for three months, and finally, I decided to buy HP laptop as laptops for HP computers reviews were good.

I bought the product (HP for laptop - 14-ac003ne) to the Kuwait on September 23 and went to India for holidays a week of. I started using the laptop and it was pointed out that there are a number of scratches of line on screen, completely unacceptable for a brand new product. Seeing this, I checked the logs, as well as the windows directory and pointed out that the laptop was one is not a brand new and it had from its windows and IIS in October 2014 information.

I'm really happy with the purchase and to return the laptop.  Could you please tell if this is possible?

I go to the Kuwait this Saturday. Y at - it an email address to raise my concerns of HP sales management?

    Thank you and best regards

  • Can I access the registry of a Windows installation on a disk that is not the main Windows disk?

The original installation was Windows 2000 Server. The old motherboard failed. The disc is fine.

There is information in the original register I want to import into the new registry of Server 2008.

Can I access this original registry if the drive on which he lives is seen as separated by another installation disc?

IE: I have the original disc of server installed on a PC bench. This PC bench sees the original server disk in drive E:

I am able to see the entire disk of the original server disk structure.

Can I access the registry Windows of this disc?

Can I export a few registry keys to import them into the new registry of the server?

    Yes.

You can do this by using Regedit and editing of your disk E: registry as a "hive" in your registry active.  To do this, follow the following procedure:

    • First, back up your current registry in case things go wrong.  Then
    • Start Regedit (start-> Run-> 'regedit')
    • Start Regedit, click once on 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE' (or HKEY_USERS) to select
    • Select the file-> load hive
    • Navigate to the registry file you want to extract entries from and double-click it
      (Probably E:\Windows\System32\Config\...)
    • A window will appear asking a key name.  Enter something unique (I'll use "ABC" here)
    • Now, look in "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE".  You will see an entry 'ABC '.  Navigate in this article and you will find entries to the registry hive that you selected.  You can now extract parts of it with the file-> export
    • Take what you want then once finished, click once on the entry 'ABC' and make a file-> unload the hive.
    • Exit Regedit
    • After the export of the files, use a text editor to edit the path in the exported file to where you want to put in your registry and double-click it to merge in.

Hope that this gets you where you want to be,
    JW

  • Impossible to access the contents of a window (PopUp)

    Hello

I'm trying to access the contents of a MovieClip I placed inside a PopUpWindow component, but cannot figure out how to do this. I've created the window with something like this:
    var SAedit_win:MovieClip = mx.managers.PopUpManager.createPopUp (_root, window, true, {closeButton:true, title: "Arterias Sistemicas", contentPath: "contentSA"});

With this code, the window IS correctly created and the "contentSA" MovieClip (which is in the library) is properly indicated. However, I wanted to access the objects inside the "contentSA', but I can't find a way to do it. I have already tried:
    -SAedit_win.content (which is read-only...)
-SAedit_win.contentsPath (which of course did not)
    -SAedit_win.target
    -SAedit_win.contentSA

    Hello

A virtual drive in the world of ThinApp means a disk that you have virtualized so he will be present for the virtualized application. If you mean by the word virtual drive where we keep the changes not applied to the physical environment are you talking about what we call the sandbox. Default location would be users with roaming profiles in a folder called Thinstall (ThinApp used to be called Thinstall until VMware has acquired the product)... Method of pomp for the sandbox would be to hit start - run on your client and enter %APPDATA%\microsoft\windows\sendto and click OK...
