So I have no software to install windows, I can't download it from windows Web site because when he asks my key number, he says is not possible to download because that is a key to a PRE INSTALLED software, the key is valid, I read it from the sticker it comes with my computer.

So now I can't reinstall the original software.

I'm considering buying a laptop M7 HP Touchsmart - K010DX want to Best Buy who has Win 8.1/64 pre-installed.  This model allow me to install Win 7 Pro/64 instead (assuming that I'll buy the appropriate media/license)?

Best Buy guy explained that all of the processors now contain a basic Win 8, so they can always starts when the primary HD fails.  He said that the use of this built-in Win 8 must be disabled before installing a different operating system, and he said that not all machines you allow to do.

I hope as the M7-K010DX allows... is perhaps likely since HP Driver Support page lists the Win 7 and 8.1 as possible O.S..

    Can anyone confirm this?

    Hi, Jay:

Here is the link to the service manual for your model.

    http://h10032.www1.HP.com/CTG/manual/c04409752.PDF

    You are right.

Remove the hard drive is not for the faint of heart, and so much so, the warranty will be cancelled if you do.

It is a task of "authorized service provider.

The procedure to remove the HARD drive are in Chapter 6 beginning on page 66.

Most models allow easy removal of the hard drive, but some don't, and I guess yours is one of them.

  • Install Windows Recovery 8 (pre install Win 7)

    Hello

I have a new elitebook 840 G1. Preinstalled on the machine, I have Windows 7 Pro. I want to upgrade to Windows 8 for the recovery of the DVD provided with it. There is no optical drive not bundled with it, but I used a mobile hard drive with YUMI and an ISO of the dvd recovery.

I can boot from it without problem but when loading the installation of recovery according to the window 8 logo I have following error:

The automatic response file contains an invalid product key. Delete the invalid key, or provide a product key valid in the file of unattended installation to awnser to proceed with the Windows installation.

Can someone give me some advice how I can solve this problem? I taught computing was the secure boot option. But I can't change the value in the bios, because it is marked in grey. I already changed any value to 'Change' but cannot go any further.

    Hi Lil Lisa,

Thank you for your information, but I found the solution. I thought I need tot start form the cd and the format of the hard drive in order to install Windows 8.1. But the solution is much easier:

    • Set up Windows 7
    • Insert the DVD with Windows 8.1 or copy files to USB
    • Open the configuration found in the files and that's it
    • The laptop will restart and load the rest of the installation.

    Thank you!

Sorry to hear that... the system should have been on completely to complete the recovery process. When the recovery process has crashed in the Middle, there are now three options.

    1. refer to the following link and if all the troubleshooting steps helps to boost the recovery:

HP PC - troubleshooting problems of recovery System (Windows 8)

    2. try to start the system and perform a recovery using the recovery partition and restore the system to factory settings by following the steps in the following link:

HP computers - running a HP System Recovery (Windows 8)

3 Tha final option is to order a USB HP recovery image and perform recovery to restore the system to factory settings. This is possible by contacting HP Technical Support.

Yesterday, I had to use the recovery procedure to reinstall the laptop (long story on apps not working do not)...
Since yesterday, Microsoft constantly asking me to activate Windows 8.1.

When I want to do this in "PC settings", I get the message that this is not possible.
When I click on 'details' to see what the problem is, I get a screen message empty.

    Thanks in advance,

    > Yesterday, I had to use the recovery procedure to reinstall the laptop
How do recover you the laptop?
Did you use HARD drive recovery (reset the PC) or have you used the recovery (disk or memory stick flash) media

Generally it system must be activated by starting the portable system.
Where this is not possible, you can consult this FAQ Toshiba how to do this.

This article describes the procedure to win 8 but his should be similar to Win 8.1
Sometimes the question could be related to a lack of internet connection.

  • I want to reinstall my Win 7 home base, it was pre-installed so I don't have the product key, no cd installation?

I tried Win 8 (trial version) and now I want to re - install my Win 7 Basic Home Edition. It was preinstalled on my lap top so I only have the genuine product key, but no installation cd. How to re - install?

New computers coming often pre-installed with Windows 7 have what is called a recovery partition. This is used to reinstall an operating system in the case of a system failure. To access it, you need to start when you start your computer by pressing a function key. This can be either F1, F2, F9, F10, F11, F12 key DEL or tab. See the manual that came with your PC for instructions on how to reinstall Windows.

This is how the recovery partition is available for the most popular brands

For Dell, press CTRL + F11 directly after switching on the device

For HP, press F11 directly after switching on the device

For Toshiba, press and hold "0" BEFORE and during the power upward

For Acer, press and hold ALT + F10, as soon as you see the logo

For Asus, press F9, as soon as you see the Asus logo.

Advent, restart your computer. Then, press F10 repeatedly until the message "Starting system recovery"

    or

    Reinstall Home Basic

You will need a whole in a single installer disk that you can use to select Windows 7 Home Basic Edition during installation. See the following for instructions:

    Here you can download the

  • Re: Satellite C870 - Questions about Toshiba software pre-installed

    Hello..

Instant Messaging user a new SATELLITE C870-1JV
Or seen a review on an American site saying that all software pre-installed Toshiba slowing down the operating system.
The site has recommended that a windows clean install to remove all...

Everyone does this, or would you recommend?

Anyone like the software installed and recommend keep it?

    Thank you!!

    > Someone has he done this, or would you recommend?
You always want to use the advanced features like function keys laptop?
If so, don t remove the feature key Toshiba software that controls the keys.

You always want to be informed of updates to the driver through Toshiba Tempro or Toshiba Service Station?
Then don t delete these software

But as far as I know there are also other additional software installed on the laptop.
For example: TOSHIBA, TOSHIBA Eco Utility, TOSHIBA PC Health Monitor, etc.
All of these tools provide additional functionality, it s your decision whether or not you want to use.

  • Satellite C50-A441 is pre-installed with Win 8.1 English language?

I did not get a straight answer on the microsoft forum, so I write here.

    The following product ([C50-A441 | http://www.toshibamea.com/ComputerProduct/4/Satellite_C50-A441/52956?pageid=4]) is advertised as 8.1 only language 64-bit (pre-installed).

I am currently based in the Middle East and asked the shop if the language is American English, but I don't have a clear answer and I don't want to buy a laptop with Arabic.

Is it possible to know if it is in American English (I'm not able to test before you buy...).

    Thank you very much.

  • Re: Want to get rid of Toshiba software pre-installed on the Satellite L650-165

    Hello

I just bought my Satellite Pro L650-165 and there are a number of software programs that come pre-installed with it.
Such as Toshiba Tempro, Eco fashion, Technology Council etc etc.

In view of the fact that I'm going to use this for my University I run many intensive programs of ram above.
So, I want to free all the ram, I can by uninstalling all these utlities.
I know what you think... Yes just because they are installed does not mean that they are running. But is it safe?

I know it takes but still ask. I just want to stay with windows7 plain ol' less all software 'cool '. precautions?

Oh and even though I created the recovery discs using the utility built into the to do... I thought ordering a Toshiba too. where to go for this?

    > If I want to free all the ram, I can by uninstalling all these utlities.
I know what you think... Yes just because they are installed does not mean that they are running. But is it safe?

Although these tools are installed, this does not mean that they would be running in the background and lose some of the RAM.
I wouldn't recommend uninstall these tools but to turn it off auto-start.
    How to do this? ESay
You can do it in msconfig.

Run msconfig and go to the Startup tab.
There you can uncheck just tools that you n t need initially.
Save the changes and restart the device.
If you need one of the tools again in the Startup tab, then you could do it

Notes; Disabling in msconfig process does not mean that you couldn't manually start these tools
Disable tools (process) in msconfig means ONLY that these tools would not launch automatically when windows starts.

  • Satellite L855-14R: games running very slow after installing Win 7

    Hi guys,.

I have the L855-14R satellite, which came with windows pre-installed 8.

I used win 8 during a time and games have been works ok.
So I decided to install a copy of windows 7 ultimate 64-bit.

I downloaded all the drivers from toshiba support and it seems to work fine until I started the same game I played before.

He was running very very slow even on low graphics settings.

No idea of what went wrong after the win 7 installation?

Have Hmm you installed the driver of ATI graphics card?
Maybe the game uses the Intel HD internal graphic that is part of the Intel Core i7-3630QM processor?

  • Satellite of 850 - is it possible to I install Win 7 - if so, how?

I was in a hurry to get a laptop for a job and got a Toshiba Satellite 850, which comes with 8 pre-installed windows.

I absolutely hate it and assumed I can just wipe everything and put it on a windows 7.
After reading many advice forums, it seems that this machine is designed for windows 8 and I can't remove it easily. So I am completely and totally disappointed.

Is this really the case? Please tell me this isn't.

I urgently need an answer that I start to work in the morning and I need Win7 installed to work.

You really are a funny guy blame you laptop manufacturer, because you are not able to install Win 7?
I guess you do this out of ignorance... you don't know how exactly...

All first of all laptops of all manufacturers of laptops that are pre-installed with Win 8 supports secure boot UEFI BIOS. Here are the requirements of Microsoft.

Second: It is possible to install Windows 7 on all laptops; It doesn't matter which was preinstalled. But he should know how to do this...

You said that you are owner of the Satellite 850. But what series? L, A AND C?

    Now some basic info:
To boot from external sources: CD/DVD drive, USB, etc. You must disable secure boot and go the CSM UEFI.
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/TSB2B03F30002R01.htm
It seems that you have done this that s good.

Keep the SATA option in AHCI mode.
When setting up installation of Win 7, you will be asked to add drivers (SATA drivers)
Download driver Toshiba UE page, put it on the USB key and add it to the installation of Win 7.
Now Win 7 must see HARD drive and you should be able to install Win 7 on the new partition.

  • Clean install vs. OS pre-installed

Recently, I installed win 7 retail on my pre-installed version. (after a quck format) then I installed the software. But contrary to popular belief, I can't find it to be any more quickly.

Yes as soon as it was installed, it was faster (USGE 15% of 4 GB ram) BUT once the programs have been instlaled it became more or less the same.

One can provide any feed back on this please?

If you install own OS but also to install stuff all listed from the Toshiba download page you will have an almost identical situation, so in my opinion, there is no reason why you should not use the original OS that you got with your laptop.

Original preinstalled recovery image (OS) is designed for your model of notbook and certainly, it will work perfectly. What you need is the optimization of the OS. Optimizing your laptop preinstalled OS will go much quicker, and you will be happy with it.

I use Toshiba laptops more than 10 years and each time when I have a new one in front of me, I optimize BONE and use it without any problem.
For example, I have my Satellite P500 nearly 1.5 years. It is even pre-installed with original Win7 64 bit and there is no problem at all. So far I didn't noticed a single problem as bluescreen or freeze.

Do you know what I mean with the optimization of the OS?
