TOTALLY CONFUSED with SQL Server 2005

Hello world

I'm just installed SQL Server 2005, I use Coldfusion MX 7.0.2 with all his patches, and I'm still without any source of data connected to MSSQL2k5

I used the traditional way to create the data source using the embeded Microsoft SQL Server driver has put accurate data on the fields and the error message was as follows:

Connection verification failed for data source: recofoce21
java.sql.SQLException: [Macromedia] [SQLServer JDBC Driver] error socket creation. Connection refused: connect
The root cause was that: java.sql.SQLException: error [Macromedia] [SQLServer JDBC Driver] socket creation. Connection refused: connect

Then I read that Microsoft has released a JDBC driver, I installed on ColdFusion mentioned in this technical note:

ACTIVE http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=ded4216b

I have create a new source of data as the example shown and NOTHING:

Connection verification failed for data source: redcofoce
com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerException: welcome the al ha Fall TCP/IP connection. java.net.ConnectException: connection refused: connect
The root cause was that: com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerException: welcome the al ha Fall TCP/IP connection. java.net.ConnectException: connection refused: connect

In other forums read is perhaps the type of authentication used, my authentication is "SQL authentication" WTF!

My TCP/IP is enabled VIA ENABLED, active too PIPE

Please give me a ray of light!

Another thing you can do is to check the database listens on port 1433. Go to the Network Configuration on the tab General properties for the database. Select TCP/IP and click on properties...

  • DG4MSQL v11.2.0.1 certified with Sql Server 2005 Express Edition?

We are working on a proof of concept and to do database gateway for MS Sql Server - DG4MSQL version 11.2 - Oracle on 64-bit Linux to connect to a Windows database that uses SQL Server 2005 Express Edition. I have reviewed the matrix certification for database gateways and it indicates that SQL Server 2005 is certified - but does not specify what editions.

Yes, DG4MSQL 11 is certified with SQL Server Express Edition.

  • Installation of ODI with SQL Server 2005

    Hello
I try to install ODI with MS Sql Server 2005.
I created a database in Sql Server and created a user with rights to connect to the database db_owner.

While trying to install master repository, I selected Sql Server with the following details
    Driver: com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver
    URL: jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver: / / < myhostname >: 1433; SelectMethod = cursor

The repository not created in error:
    * com.sunopsis.core.q: java.sql.SQLException: [Microsoft] [SQLServer 2000 for JDBC driver] [SQL Server] the new tabular data stream (TDS) procedure remote call (RPC) protocol stream is incorrect. Parameter 1 (""): data type 0 x 38 is unknown *.

Now, if I change the URL to jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver: / / < myhostname >: 1433, the repository is created successfully. But when you log in Repository Manager to the topology using the same basic shape, again invites me the same error.

Has anyone faced the same problem?

    Hello

You are using SQL server 2005 but try to connect by using SQL server connection details 2000 you should use

    com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver

    JDBC:SQLServer://servername:1433; databaseName = DBNAME; SelectMethod = cursor

You must also make sure that you use the correct driver SQL server 2005, if you use a version of Java before 1.5 to ODI so you will need the JDBC SQL Server 2005 1.2 driver.

  • Driver JDBC SQL Server 2005 MS v1.1 and integrated authentication

In our setup we have MX 7 Standard running on Windows Server 2003 with SQL Server 2005 for a back-end database. The CF Server service runs under a specific domain account. Using the JDBC Microsoft SQL Server v1.1 driver, I am able to connect to the database by using a sql server connection and specifying the password. I would like to be able to use integrated security to connect to the DB, but I don't seem to be able to specify integrated security. Instead of the connection an error message on the username "is not valid.

Someone managed to connect to SQL Server 2005 with integrated security?

    To answer my own question...

Here's how I got it work.
1 set the cf service log in as domain user
    2. take the sqljdbc.jar and sqljdbc_auth.dll files and place them in \runtime\lib
3 Add the java.library.path in the following of this directory
    4. configure data source with the following parameters
    URL JDBC: SqlServer: / /; databaseName =; integratedSecurity = true;
    Driver class: com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver
    Driver name: SQLServerDriver
    Username: empty
    Password: empty

Data sources, check and work correctly. I also update the drivers from datadirect as well so I don't know if that had anything to do with it either.

We have SQL Server 2005 cluster (3 node cluster) and if we improve this nodes to 2008 R2, can the databases associated with the named instance remain to the version of SQL Server 2005, I seem to disagree with this notion, but still need to validation of the pro.

One way I can think of to achieve this scenario changes the compatibility level to SQL Server 2005 when the node has been upgraded to SQL Server 2008, so we can upgrade databases to SQL 2008 as and when the vendors provide support for this version.

  • Selecting a SQL Server 2005 with names of long columns (> 30 characters)

    Hello

I was able to put in place a db Oracle 11.2.0.1 link to SQL Server 2005 using DG4ODBC.

My problem is that some column names in Sql Server are more than 30 tanks and trying to select gives me the ORA-00972: identifier is a mistake too long.

If I omit those select columns succeeds.
I know that I can create a view in sql server and query it instead of the original table, but I was wondering if there is a way to overcome it with sql.

    My selection looks like this:
    select "good_column_name" from sometable@sqlserver_dblink -- this works
    select "good_column_name","very_long_column_name>30 chars" from sometable@sqlserver_dblink -- ORA-00972
    Thank you

No there is no other way then using a view in SQl Server and select in the view rather than the table. The reason is that the Oracle database has a restriction that the column names must be 30 or fewer characters.

We have set up a SQL Server user on the SQL Server and configure the data source in coldfusion that used this user of SQL Server (not domain\user, simply user) and jumped the DSN whole system on the Web server and it works.

So the long and short of it is that it seems to be a matter of trust network between our server app (cf) and our db Server (sql) and we are unable to put in place the way datasources which we used for (win2k/cf5-> win2k3/sql2005). Well.

    [Edit: more info]

The SQL Server logs give this error message:

    Error: 18456, severity: 14, State: 6.

I looked towards the top of this error message on msdn ( http://blogs.msdn.com/sql_protocols/archive/2006/02/21/536201.aspx) and they say it means "attempt to use a login name of Windows with SQL authentication.

I made sure that SQL Server is running in «SQL Server and Windows Authentication Mode» (and restarted). No change. Of course Adobe says that you MUST use "SQL Server and Windows Authentication Mode" and Microsoft said the solution to the error is to choose 'Windows Authentication Mode'. Grrr.

I tried to change the JDBC URL to the IP address of the SQL Server and I get the same error mesaage. I purposely fudge the IP and I get a totally different "time out" (duh ;^) error So, anything on the way Cold Fusion talks to SQL Server nor is not quite right.

I feel stupid asking this, but is there a specific documentation on the MX7 connection to SQL Server 2005? Documentation on livedocs is a reference to SQL Server 2000 (I think... but I don't know he's not talking about 2005). I'm starting to wonder if there are a few small not stupid that I missed somewhere along the way when the place of things... * sigh *.

I get the following error message when you try to configure the data source in the Coldfusion administrator:

I have now, our production company that runs CF 5 connection to the same database on the same SQL Server and does NOT receive the "failed to connect to the user" error... which leads me to believe that it is not a simple permission problem. To be clear, my CF5 box connects fine to the database. My CF7 box will simply not.

I installed the latest JDBC drivers and set up a data source that generates the above error (I get the same error trying to implement as "Microsoft SQL Server" with the obvious exception of the driver in the error being different).

I searched the forums and not set of TCP/IP.
I tried to configure the ODBC DSN in windows using "windows authentication" and the "mixed mode"... I'm just confused here.

I lost track of combinations of things I tried to get this working (you know how you enter in "try everything and pray mode"?... it's me all day today).

  • Windows Update failed - error 0 x 80070643 for Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition Service Pack 4 (KB2463332)

Original title: Windows Update Failed - need help

Vista 32 Ultimate with all updates, until this one: update Windows failed: error 0 x 80070643 for Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition Service Pack 4 (KB2463332). Update has failed repeatedly. I tried to restart, remove the update (even by deleting the file so it would download it again) and install again. Nothing has worked. Error 80070643. Since it is not Office 2003, the error seems to mean a problem with the Windows .NET framework. Don't know what that means.

Looking at KB976982, I tried to fix MSI software update registration corruption issues (whatever that means) by running the automated Fix It by KB971187. Restarted, I tried Windows Update again. Still didn't update.

Then, I waited two days and tried again. Even that did not help.

I tried bypassing Windows Update simply by downloading and then run the file SQLEXPR32.exe from Microsoft downloads. Did not work at all. I then tried to run it as an administrator (even if it was already an administrator account, with no other account on this computer at all). He started to run and then gave me the following error message: unable to run the SQL Server System Configuration Checker due configulation WMI on the computer. Error: 70347 (0x112cb).

Now I'm really confused. On the one hand, 80070643 means I probably repair the .NET framework, which certainly, I hate to do because I need several versions of the .NET framework first uninstall and then try to install the compmonents, and I'm afraid something would go wrong.

On the other hand, the 70347 (0x112cb) error message seems to indicate the problem is completely different and has to do with WMI, which probably has to do with permissions and I have no idea how to solve this problem. (And why it all of a sudden would be any problem with permissions?) This computer is not on a corporate network and has only one user account, the administrative account). I have looked at Services and Applications in computer management, where there are WMI control, but nothing shown that I can possibly change and not the SQL Server Configuration Manager under it, which doesn't seem to have much either.

    Help! Please...

And now I also tried to fix it, just in case where, the .NET framework (Panel > programs and features > Microsift.NET framework Client profile 4 > uninstall/change > fix it), and the Windows Update tried again (including reboot). Still no. Everything I try, it is not to do nothing, pardon my language. People smarter than me, pleasehelp!
