Totally dead

This morning, I put my MBP to sleep without realizing account it wouldn't wake up again, it's quite dead. The battery is charged according to the supply cable, I can assume I have a faulty hard drive and is this repairable, you?

In short, I recommend greedily Toshiba laptops to all my clients and friends and family.

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro myself, very happy with it, all those who have purchased after my recommendations are also happy, except that I recommended to a neighbour.

In April 2009 I sent them a link to buy a Toshiba L350-203. After just 6 months, the mouse pad has failed and had to be repaired. This person uses the laptop occasionally for web browsing in general.

Now, they turn to the top at my door, laptop in hand, totally dead, no power light or anything like that. To rule out that it is a power supply problem, a replacement power has been purchased.
Once again no power whatsoever. Food is certainly get to the plug of the adapter.

I think it's evil because it's just 15 months or two and saw very little use, it also leaves my tips for buying considered a bad recommendation and my reputation is on the line.

Someone suggested the hard drive could have died, perhaps my logic is wrong, but if the HARD drive was dead, but the power supply has confirmed that the work, would'nt the power of the computer laptop, but just fails to start? I know that on a PC, even without a disc hard, it will fuel yet.

I pull on my laptop HARD drive, unfortunately, the connections are the same type, but laid out different. I don't have access to another drive, with that I can test. The power supply seems to be ok, but I did not open the laptop to check physically, it apppears solid.
So shaken a little bit there is no sign of a power indicator. No power light, no light, totally dead unit.

I don't know what to do, as it is now out of warranty as far as I know, it will cost them financially, firstly we'll still look for my advice never & I lose credibility, secondly I doubtfully recommend Toshiba again because of the lack of reliability.

I hope Toshiba will specify this is a rare occurrence and something can be set.
    This would be most appreciated.

    Hi guy.

Indeed, I also recommend the use of Toshiba laptops but such problem of course can always happen it s any laptop manufacturer or model of mobile phone is.
Computer laptop is a machine and machine would dysfunction like other machines do too.
I have two different Toshiba laptops and I never had any problems with the units.
    However

    > Someone suggested the hard drive could have died, perhaps my logic is wrong, but if the HARD drive was dead, but the power supply has confirmed that the work, would'nt the power of the computer laptop, but just fails to start? I know that on a PC, even without a disc hard, it will fuel yet.
I doubt problem s HDD given that the laptop powering not upwards and does not POST (power on self-test) if the HARD drive is faulty, then the laptop would be always able to start, but you get an OS message was not found.

    > I don't know what to do, as it is now out of warranty as far as I know, it will cost them financially, firstly we'll still look for my advice never & I lose credibility, secondly I doubtfully recommend Toshiba again because of the lack of reliability.
The laptop is 15 months old. Generally, the standard notebook warranty laptop duration 12 months. But if the laptop was placed on the page of Toshiba, then the guarantee extend to 24 months.
So if the laptop has been saved in the past, then the warranty should always be available.

Anyway, back to the question, I think that the RAM (memory) should be tested also. If it s RAM DO not matter, then the motherboard could be affected and in this case the motherboard needs to be replaced.
This can be done by a Toshiba ASP.

I recommend so get in touch with the local ASP in order to check the laptop parts!

    Good luck

  • Satellite A100-049, do not load, totally dead

    Purchased: April 2007
    Model: Satellite A100-049 (PSAARE-03G00JEN)
Operating system: supplied with Windows Vista 32-bit, now under Windows 7 64-bit

In recent weeks, my Toshiba Satellite A100-049 began to charge not. He went from 100%, 80%, 50%, 30%, 10%. Basically all over the place but I have no worry because I never unplug it anyway, and if I let her she eventually settle and start loading. It worked this way for about 2-3 weeks.

    * He then from the changing of the guard that I discovered despite the orange charging light is on and Windows, he is in charge, it is actually not statement. This means in turn Windows is not hibernate (depending on configuration) when it reaches 3% of battery. Therefore, it goes down to 0% and turns off.

When he is in this State, it's a real pain so he could start charging again. I left all night and sometimes the charging light lights up, other times it doesn't.

    * I thought it might be the battery so I bought a new *, this fixed for about a week before the same exact problems occurred.

    * Since that it has gotten worse and now does not load period.*, I now have two dead batteries with 0% fee, as well as a dead laptop. Once again I left during the night, nothing, that it refuses to load.

I searched this forum and tried to turn on without the battery in, it lights. He's dead.

    * Is the main/mother card or would be - this something else? *

If the Commission of the main mother card, how much a replacement motherboard would cost more work? I live in the United Kingdom, how to fix here? If this is not the case, in U.S. dollars will be fine.

I really hope I can make it last a few months because A: I can't afford a new laptop and b: I prefer to buy a new laptop when Windows 8 came out, I intend to get anyway. Especially since I already have a valid license of Windows 7 retail.

Thank you. Any help would be appreciated.

    > I have searched this forum and tried to turn on without the battery in, it lights. He's dead.

That s not good dude even if the battery is not connected, the laptop must turn on with AC adapter plugged
What you can do is this short workaround just for testing purposes.
-The battery should be removed in addition to disconnect the adapter
-Leave the laptop disconnected for a longer period of time (a long night). then press the power button / stop along 30 sec.
-Now connect the AC adapter and check if the laptop would be powered.

If this is not possible, then the motherboard could be affected in such cases is not worth buying a new motherboard since its really, really expensive part.
New motherboard + fix would cost about 300-350
In my opinion it's better to sell this unit and buy a new laptop.

  • Canon Rebel XTI, which does not. Totally dead!

Canon Rebel XTI just stop working.  Nothing lights at all!  Does not illuminate nothing.  I have 2 batteries completely charged and tried both with no joy.  I put a new battery in the clock and still nothing.  I removed the lens and flash and nothing map lights.  I did the hard reset and still nothing lights up.  This camera was not left to fall and everything just stop itself.  I cleaned all the contacts as well and checked the switch and switch battery door flash card.  DEAD!

Isn't anyone do anything that lasts longer?  This isn't a cheap camera and it SHOULDN'T stop working on its own and if so CANON should repair at our expense.

I think I've tried all the fixes I can find on Google.  If anyone here knows a fix I na not try then please let me know.

I thought CANON was a quality company.

This is why my Canon camera has crashed.  There was a loose piece, I could hear the rattling around inside the camera body, so I disassembled the body in order to open the body and see what fell.  When I opened the bottom of the body a small silver screw fell out of the body.  Apparently this happens to be a problem with this model and perhaps others.  A screw of the motherboard itself cancels them and rolls around inside body camera power DC/DC Board shorting out and blowing the fuse marked 'P' on the power Board. When I put a meter across the fuse it reads infinity brief death instead of a normal life.

How to unscrew a screw located inside a camera body.  This isn't a problem of software or an electronic failure problem and this camera would still work right now if the screw had not accrued and shorted out my camera.  Canon answer is of course that they no longer service this camera.

  • T5 - totally Dead - need to recover data

The last time that I could use my T5, the screen slowly erased by showing vertical lines until it is completely unreadable. Now he is dead and won't power-up. I saved the T5 on my PC when I saw that it became unusable. However, unbeknownst to me, my office of SplashID was missing and so when I supported this last time, it includes all the data of SplashID... So I would like the power once more for SplashID data go to the PC. Must I send in Palm so that they can recover the data? Any ideas?

Well, I never recommend a Cust this. The process of replacing a battery on a sealed unit is very delicate and often involves unsoldering connections. Doing this wrong can kill the unit completely. Unless you are skilled in this field and are ready to deal with a repairable device, it is better to send it in for repair. Once again, not to mention that Palm other sellers offer repair services.

  • Aspire switch 10 totally dead.

My Switch 10 just died. I can't turn it on and the led is not even indicate charging when I connect the charger.
It's almost as if the charger itself died.

I contacted Acer support and I just it approved for the service. But as it is out of warranty, I have doubts about sending of it away. What can be the cost for troubleshooting?

I've read about people having similar problems is solved by pressing power volume and simultaneously switch button, but it doesn't seem to work in my case.

    Hello

You've found 4.2V and the battery voltage is 3.8V. This means that the battery is fully charged. I don't think that the issue is here.

Did you check that the flat cable connectors have been inserted correctly?

    My opinion:

"I can't turn it on and the led is not even indicate charging when I connect the charger.

The power button is maybe defective (55.L47N5.001 - Audio card). Check visually.

  • Satellite 4030cdt dead

I'd appreciate advice for my dead satellite 4030cdt, it is totally dead no response from all power button, power supply works fine the main battery and battery cmos have a little tension on them, I disassembled the laptop right and checked all the connections, 15v DC is present on the motherboards power socket all internal fuses, I can see were buzzes on, the fault I would say is related to the power and I was wondering if there was some known defects of power with this model, I don't really want to bin this piece much honey Kit and everything I buy spare parts could be expensive if I buy by mistake also nobody knows if the laptop must behave normally with battery removed because it would be the most obvious fault.

Sorry if it was all a bit much to start with, but I'm scratching my head on this one, any suggestions greatly appreciated

    Hello

Unfortunately, it is not easy to say what's wrong on your laptop.
If the adapter works properly so I guess there must be something wrong with the motherboard or the CPU.
In this case, you should contact Toshiba service because it can start a diagnostic test and can give you a precise answer on the fault.

Subject of the battery: Yes, you can use your laptop without the battery if the power adapter is plugged. It s advisable to remove the battery if you use Notepad with AC adapter / CC.

    Hello:

You must disable secure boot and enable legacy mode when you install a video card on a PC initially provided with the W8.

If you reset the BIOS to its factory default settings, he has will raise start-up secure and disabled legacy mode.

  • 2740 - Dead Zones touchscreen - blind spots keep alternating from consecutive cycles of power

    Hello

I return my 2740 two days and since I am faced with the question of areas inaccessible to the corners of the touch screen.

To explain further, I'm numbering of the corners as 1,2,3,4 from the top left and go elsewhere (with the display in normal mode for portable computer with keyboard open).

I'm dead in 3 corners (2,3 and 4) zones. I can drag and drop the slider to one of those corners, I can do the selection rectangle on the desktop windows (but of course from a position away from these corners, when even it means that they are not totally dead), but I can't save any tap (i.e.. clique) on these corners for about 1 to 1.5 cm. considering that, in the corner 1 works perfectly.

What makes this problem even more strange is that these dead zones alternating custody after consecutive/recovery stops after sleep, that is.

    After stop/standby #1: blind spots are # 2,3,4

After stop/standby #2: blind spot is no. 1

    After stop/standby #3: blind spots are # 2,3,4

After stop/standby #4: blind spot is no. 1

    After stop/standby #5: blind spots are # 2,3,4

After stop/standby #6: blind spot is no. 1

And a normal restart has no effect on blind spots, there must be a stop or a sleep-CV. Given that each of the corners work, but not all together, makes me very doubtful that this could be a hardware fault.

I already tried the following hotfixes mentioned by people facing similar problems with their 2740:

    1. different "Wacom Digitizer Driver" published by HP, April 30, 2010, June 23, 2010 and November 22, 2010, respectively.

2 reloaded Windows 7 Professional 64 bit from scratch and I tried all kinds of drivers, even those of Wacom Web site.

    3. power cycled my unit, that is. has out the battery and ran my unit from the mains without the battery.

Any information would be extremely useful and appreciated. Others who are facing similar issues well to respond to this thread as well.

    Thank you

    Mrinal

    For reference:

    Corner #1: Top-left

    Corner #2: Top-right

    Corner #3: Down-right

    Corner #4: Left-bottom

I was able to completely solve the problem of dead with a simple update zone

For convinience other users faced with similar problems, I'm reposting the fix as suggested by in4mer. If you encounter problems with these steps, please browse the thread started by in4mer, to:
Indoor/outdoor touch screen and the Pen Firmware update

Please download and install the following ' Indoor/outdoor Touch Panel and Pen Firmware Update', by using the following link:
HP EliteBook 2740 Tablet PC - interior/exterior touch screen and stylus updated Firmware - HP Business Support Center

Don't forget to read the 'Installation Instructions'. If the executable provided by HP is unable to create the bootable USB key, then follow the next procedure.

Step 1. Creating a USB bootable BACK by following the instructions at:
How to format a USB stick

Note: You don't need additional utilities, so no need to copy the files from the Win98 startup disk manually on the USB key, just leave him with the 3 files illustrated in the screenshot of last second.

Step 2 Copy all the files in the folder "Rompaq" on USB. This folder can be located either in the directory "C:\SWSetup\sp49201", or anywhere where the executable updates downloaded to date (i.e. sp49201.exe) excerpt from its content. Or, you can just use 7 - zip to extract the content of sp49201.exe and to access the folder "Rompaq.

Note: You may need to activate the options "Show hidden files" and "Visualize protected system files", which is located under the 'View' tab in 'Folder Options', which can be opened from the menu item "tools > Folder Options ' in 'Windows Explorer '. In ' Vista/Windows 7' press the 'Alt' key to make the menu bar in 'Windows Explorer' visible.

Step 3 Start your computer using the USB. After the comand prompt appears, type "SAM. BEATS", and then press on enter if the value of your monitor starts with"DRY"or type"HYDIS. BEATS"and press ENTER if the value of your monitor starts with"BEP ".

Note: Boot Menu options are available by pressing the key "F9" as soon as the computer starts to boot and HP logo appears.

Note: he showed both old and new firmware as even by updating the firmware on my machine. But he still solves the problem.

  • Resolution of some 870 X gtx670m problems

    WARNING:
I can not guarantee the accuracy, completeness or the assurance that it will work for you *.

    Hello forum,.
My video card recently gave me problems, given the lack of amazing info on the web, I'll try to make this kind of a tutorial.
    * My rig:
    Toshiba Qosmio X 870 PSPLXK-00Q00N
Storage: Samsung Evo 850 500 Gb / Toshiba 1 TB HDD
    RAM 16 GB (4 x 4)

    * Video:
    NVIDIA Geforce GTX 670M / 3Gb
    Model number V000280680
B of MXM 3.0 type housing

For an easy understanding, here is a picture of my motherboard

    https://drive.Google.com/file/d/0Bwq...EW?USP=sharing

    -J' tried to bugs:
1 format and reinstall windows 7 and 10.
    2 reset the CMOS.
3 disassemble the laptop to check on the CMOS battery.
    4. clean and renewed thermal paste to the GPU and the CPU.
    5. comparative analysis with 3DMark and Prime95. Throw the RAM, the processor and the motherboard, being the GPU as the culprit of the problem.

Looking for maps of replacement which gave me ideas to upgrade the GPU. I called the service $400-600 repair center.

    -L' idea:
I came up with the crazy idea to Flash the vBios with another firmware, some time ago, I was me sleeping with GPU - Z and made a copy of my firmware, I searched and found others on the internet, so I decided to give it a shot. I knew I could probably kill the video card so in order to access my laptop I installed teamviewer, logmein, AND I tried with the video card taken flight and worked. Then I have a video card, flash video is totally dead. Then I flashed back to my old firmware and that is, I used it for a week by monitoring the behavior with the msi afterburner and everything is fine, even with long game sessions. Therefore, I think that the firmware may got corrupted somehow.

    -Method:
Here I describe the flashing method used in this case, it's very simple, but be careful.

    1. download teamviewer and logmein. Put in place to start with windows and connect from another device without getting anything in the laptop, if you need to enter something after the laptop running trying to memorize what to do because you could be blind!

    2 download GPU - z
    https://www.techpowerup.com/GPUZ/
Make a copy of the vBios firmware, just click on the button next to the BIOS version, it should create a ROM file
Then there's a link with some roms for GTX670M

    https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/...Emsize=&since=

This ones is verified, here are the ones available for the unverified GTX670M from Toshiba, I transferred my ROM not so long ago, more precisely the 70.24.44.01.03 is exported by me:

    https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/...memSize=&since=

    3. download the tool here nvflash
    https://www.techpowerup.com/download...ashing/NVIDIA/
Unzip and place these files and the ROM all files in a folder.

    4. Enter cmd in admin mode and go to the folder where the files are located.

    5. type:
    nvflash64-6 *.rom
(* the name of the rom,-6 file cannot ignore any error).
NVFLASH will ask to you if you want to continue, enter y for Yes. It will end to make a beep very hard.

6 cut, remove power, remove the battery, press the power button to drain remaining power.
Put back in place the battery and the power cord, press shift + f8 + power button, if this doesn't start t try to do this a couple of times more.

    7 done!

If you want to go a look deeper for tutorials and videos to youtube of nvflash.
I hope you guys find this little guide useful to solve your problems my methods were perhaps not the best, because I am not an expert, but if you have doubts write them on the forum, good luck!

    SECOND PART:

    Various:
-I recommend to install msi afterburner to check temperatures and usage, you can configure it to display it in the game. Here is the video tutorial for that:
    https://www.YouTube.com/watch?v=OZx8PbFmeEM

-When I almost abandon a friend came with a mini pci-e adapter attached to a massive video card, we have removed the wireless adapter and plug the adapter, immediately recognized the laptop! So, in case your video card is really ruined or you want serious juice here is the link, you can find it on ebay or amazon. Link:

-When the installation/reactivate Windows 10 If you think that the function keys do not work, here are the drivers:
    http://Support1.toshiba-tro.de/Tedd-...1002134400.zip

-J' found a Turkish forum where someone asked on the upgrade to 770M NVIDIA, he worked not just as plug-and-play, but a guy recommend amending the vBios, replacement of the id of the map and linking a tutorial to upgrade 460M to 560M, here is the (Turkish) link if you dare to do

  • Pavilion H8J91EA #ABU: failed to update BIOS on H8J91EA #ABU

Has had a major disaster last night.

Tried to update the BIOS on a Pavilion H8J91EA #ABU failed; Displays the boot block update message (or something like that - don't remember exactly) message stayed on the screen for centuries and then blacked out.  Now, the machine seems totally dead.  I tried the method of recovery of bios key 'Windws-key' and 'B' without result.

Does anyone know if this feature is supported on the #ABU H8J91EA

    Thank you

    It sort!

After failing to install the new BIOS understandable machine does not start.

The option Windows key & B to retrieve the original BIOS is supported on this model but would not work.

If you leave the machine off for a few hours the BIOS recovery works fine the first time try you it. but once the BIOS has loaded the system was unable to restart to complete the installation. Returning to the State where you cannot call the BIOS recovery feature and the machine is completely dead.

    Solution in my case was...

    • Power down machine
    • Leave for a few hours
    • Turn on, all holding the key windows and 'B '.
    • Wait for the BIOS recovery to start and release the keys.
    • Answer all questions and wait for the reboot to start.
    • If it does not start, turn the machine off and leave for a few hours.
    • Turn on the machine, and with a little luck, the boot will continue.
    • Answer any questions that you are asked, and wait.
    • Breathe a sigh of relief...

I hope it's useful to someone.

Can I invite you for a little help on this one.

I received an Equium L20-197 that no longer works. Not having is not the chance to see never work I'm not sure on a number of things.

It is totally dead, with the power supply connected there is no sign of life, no power, light nothing.

I know there are a lot of things it could be.

This is should it lights up while there is no battery connected, only the power supply plugged in?

If she will be so at least I can pass a battery problem, yes the battery is perhaps still defective, but this would mean that the motherboard is probably us. If she must have a battery equipped, even a plate, then it could be the battery.

Just try to work through step-by-step.

    Any help much appreciated.

    Hi mate,

hehe, looks like a technician is here. :) It s a very good idea to do it step by step because every good techno acts like you. So I do, and it has helped me several times.

Regarding your question: the battery must not be connected to start the machine, so if the machine start-up even won´t just with connected AC then you can be sure that there is a serious hardware problem.

In this case, you can remove all (disk, CDROM, etc.) and try again. You can also share the adapter of the ca and the RAM. Thus, if the won´t still machine starts, then contact an ASP (Authorized Service Partner) and ask for a review of health/repair of equipment. It would be the last resort.
