Touchpad interfere with my typing, how can I disable it?

I have a Dell Inspiron 1318 with a touchpad instead of a mouse.  When I tap the touchpad wrongly detects that I touched, so it my cursor there where on the screen I wanted the pointer to go.  Is there a way to disable this option?

Hi Amy,

Go to http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&hidlang=en&hidos=WW1&os=WLH&osl=EN&scanConsent=False&scanSupported=True&TabIndex=&SystemID=INSPIRON1318&catid=-1&impid=-1&typeid=-1&formatid=-1&dateid=-1 and update your Touchpad driver to the one provided on the web site (even if it seems like it is the same driver) for you model of laptop (I think I got it right mais vérifier que je n'avais pas enough your information system to be absolutely certain, and you want to be sure it is good not only for the computer, but also for the operating system version).

Once done, go to start / Control Panel / mouse and check the settings.  There may be one to set the sensitivity of the touchpad, so it takes more strength to activate and this can help - which is also good he'll get without turning off completely (and then you need a mouse).  In my case, also with a Dell (a different model) I could not adjust enough and ended up finding a laser wireless mouse and turned off the touchpad to solve the problem.  I don't plan on using the mouse at all (and in fact, find it more convenient, because I never liked the touchpad in the first place).

I hope this helps.

Good luck!
